VoLTE is not supported by your current software version - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Hi,
I just got my 965 Dual Sim and I am trying to enable VoLTE on AT&T network. Whenever I try to enable the feature the phone gives me a "VoLTE is not supported by your current software version. Contact customer service for more details". Anyone got any ideas as to how to get this to work?

More than likely you'll have to wait to see if an AT&T CSC will be available for Exynos devices. Same situation as Canada

Same problem here .is there any solution to enable volt

Many networks have problems dropping calls with VoLTE enabled. Even if you have the option, I suggest leave it disabled/disable it.

What is the best way to try to get working Wi-Fi Calling and VoLte on this model phone? Just ordered it yesterday so I don't have it yet
Thanks
I am not a developer but experienced user.
There is MUCH confusion about VOLTE .
To get VOLTE in the past on 99% of phones you needed 2 Things .
1] A VOLTE capable phone .
2] Network SOFTWARE on that phone to enable VOLTE ( and often WIFI calling ). This means you only get VOLTE on Tmobile , for example with a Tmobile BRANDED [ or Metro OCS phone ] with the preinstalled software from the Manufacturer for that specific NETWORK.
Android was supposedly going to ADD this into their system but I don't think it's possible technically or legally.
A friend as recently as a week ago on SPRINT had an S9 with a VOLTE On/OFF setting and when he engaged VOLTE is affected call quality negatively - I heard it.
This is one of the reasons Sprint is merging with TMO , IMO.
I have heard rumors of 'generic ' or AT&T Iphones having VOLTE on Metro PCS/Tmobile for example but real VOLTE stays on LTE always and you never lose Internet due to a call - simultaneous STABLE voice and data is the benefit - not some little trick on /off thing.
If the F/DS is an Exynos you may have issues however someone pointed out in another thread that the Exynos should work with T-Mo WiFi calling.
I am using the firmware for the 965U1, it is generic software for US Based Snapdragon phones. When I flashed and put my SIM in, it detected T-Mobile and set up WiFi calling automagically. The VoLTE also works with no adjustments or settings.
So I am thinking at a minimum you should be able to get WiFi calling. Hopefully.

How was your experience with stock?

Any way to force-enable VoLTE? (Snapdragon, but probably applies to Exynos too)

I've got the Snapdragon dual-sim Hong Kong model (SM-G9650 DS). I think this would apply to basically every model, though.
I'd like to find a way to enable VoLTE for carriers which support it, but for which the CSC on the phone doesn't support it, and for which there is no available CSC which supports it. In my case, I'd like VoLTE to work on Verizon in the US, and for Japanese carriers AU and Softbank. I'm sure there are lots of people who would like to get VoLTE in India working on Snapdragon models as well.
I enjoy having Samsung Pay, so I'd like to be able to do this without tripping Knox/rooting.
I've done as much studying on the subject as I could, and apparently, such a thing used to be possible by accessing IMS Settings through a shortcut app, but as of Samsung's Oreo update, it's not possible to do this without root anymore, it would seem.
Generally, on my phone, I try to enable VoLTE (there's an option in the quick toggles, but not an option in mobile network settings) and I get the message, "VoLTE is not supported by your current software version. Contact customer service for more details." This is on the Hong Kong version.
Oddly, after playing with several different CSCs and software versions, then finally coming back to the Hong Kong one and doing several factory resets, I had the option to enable VoLTE in mobile network settings, and it actually let me turn it on. I was surprised! Then, after taking out the sim, using another sim (to see if I could get VoLTE on it too, I couldn't), and putting the original one back in, it went back to not being possible. I may have triggered some kind of bug to allow me to do this, as this was with a Japanese Softbank SIM, for which VoLTE generally isn't supported on non-Japanese Samsung models. However, since then, I haven't been able to get the setting back.
I bought a Hong Kong sim just to test this, and every time I put in the Hong Kong sim, even though it's not activated, it immediately offers the ability to enable VoLTE, so it's probably restricted by MCC/MNC, allowing VoLTE to be enabled only on SIMs which are pre-approved by the CSC.
Anyway, I'd really like to ask the community if there may be anything I can try to get it working. I'm sure that if I root and trip Knox I could do it, but if there's some way to do it without having to trip Knox, and without having to factory reset every time I want to change SIMs, it would be great.
Let's figure this out!
That would be awesome!!
Following.
I have this phone too and currently have TMobile and would love to use volte and wifi calling.
Even i am searching the work around for this issue.
I am having TMobile note 8 and using it in india it does not allow me to enable volte on oreo.
I have to be on noughat to use volte service else its of no use.
Can anybody talk with shortcut master app dev if he got any solution to it?
I get VoLTE but don't have the option in the mobile network settings... For some reason it always takes a few hours for it to activate after I restart the phone.
Also I feel like maybe it didn't activate the first time until I enabled VoWiFi once.

Do I have to take it to the store for them to do it, or can I just call customer service?
The other response is incorrect. Huawei has a whitelist of carrier MCC/MNC for VoLTE support. US carriers are not on it for LYA-L29.
VoLTE working fine in the middle east for the LYA-L29 for those who are wondering.
I don't know about North America though.

Volte works fine on the P20 Pro. Since that phone was never sold or supported in the USA there is no reason US carriers would be on a whitelist.
Volte also works fine on the Xiaomi MI Mix 2 & 2S which aren't sold or supported here.
Same problem in Canada too...the carrier has to work with Huawei to turn the feature on. I upgraded from an S7Edge which WAS VoLTE enabled by the carrier, so the account has the feature, but it did not automatically carry over.
Looks like there will be a few months before we get this, seeing how long it took for P20 Pro.
Anyone on UK EE with VoLTE available?

Hola
Can you please elaborate. For some of our carriers in Canada VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling are only enabled with carrier branded phones. This is particularly true for Rogers and Fido. If you are dealing with Shaw, Telus and Bell I have seen different scenarios that certain non branded phones working ok for VoLTE and other phones not working at all.
I am with Fido and I bought the Mate 20 Pro from them and VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling work.

I'm with Videotron...hence the difference. They have been notoriously slow to enable the feature on new phones.
On the flip side, I was getting VoLTE on my old phone which was NOT bought from them (it was first registered on Koodo).
Rogers does not allow that -as you mentioned.

A follow-up on my own post:
- we all knew the Canadian version L0C is NOT dual-SIM - I finally got a chance to test this. Bummer.
- I put in my phone a Rogers SIM and VoLTE and VoWiFi WERE INSTANTLY ENABLED. So the software supports it, has to be enabled by the provider via the SIM cfg. Somewhat positive news - as we all thought, Rogers would only allow VoLTE on the phones they sell, the test proved this is not the case.

I can definitely tell that the call quality is a LOT better in my case with VoLTE on, as it uses HD codecs (G.722).
You can try for yourself by turning VoLTE ON and then play with WCDMA vs LTE settings...one will disable it right away. In my case even the call button in the dialer shows HD.
And yes, the damn icon is hideous and won't go away even with System Tuner.

MintMobile does provide Volte but they have no idea which phone models it works on so they don't advertise Volte. I had Volte functionality on MintMobile with One Plus 5, Essential PH-1, Xiaomi Mix 2 & Mix 2S, and Huawei P20 Pro.
But it does not work with this phone.
On Telus, the first time I set the phone up it made me jump through a hoop where I went to a Telus site and enabled the VOxxx stuff. Strangely, it seemed to be kinda random whether it was 'on' or not, and before the last 2 updates I don't think you could even trust the icon to be telling you the truth. I'm not sure why this feature is a big deal, codecs or not the voice quality seems fine on this phone regardless. Some people claim that enabling any of the VO stuff gobbles battery, I haven't really noticed.
Much like the AOD, it is sad that we have almost no control over the icons at the top - especially when space is at such a premium there.

Just like the VOLTE, it is your mobile network provider that activates these services or not.
it is activated on i.e several phones so it is like theprovider blocks certain IMEI ?

You have a 12T pro not a 12 pro.
Additional information:
The version of the rom (full name)?.
Example:V13.0.4.0.SLFMIXM
Surely Global but to be confirmed.

To be checked.
Regarding t-mobile, it seems that it only works with unlocked phones.
Good news! All new T-Mobile smartphones have Wi-Fi calling.

Question Help! Not getting 5G and VOLTE after changing to Canada ROGERS Sim (Unit from Philippines)

Hi Everyone,
Need help. I recently migrated to Canada and I brought my S23 Ultra with me (Open Line: CSC:XTC). I noticed that I'm only getting a 4G+ signal and VoLTE is not enabled. I check Rogers 5G coverage and our area is part of it. I tried inserting my sim to my wife's Iphone and it is getting a 5G signal. Can this be fixed?
Condolences on your move from a fellow Canadian
Are you sure the phone has the correct LTE bands (it probably does...).
Secondly, the Canadian telecom cartel has colluded and decided that they don't like phones sold elsewhere or imported...you could be SOL as I don't see Robbers authorizing your IMEI.
Apple is not caving in to carriers, that's why the iPhone works just fine.
I doubt that changing the CSC will help, as the restrictions are placed on IMEI.

Btw, what do you mean by SOL?

sh!t out of luck.
The issue is the CSC - if you are able to get the Rogers CSC working it should allow you to access 5G/VoLTE (possibly VoWiFi - Rogers allows 3rd party devices as long as the config files are correct - only Bell/Telus have an IMEI whitelist).

What model is your phone? I would say you could try flashing to the W firmware but if you have an EU model phone it won't work... so I am not sure how you could get the correct CSC.

It's Rogers Infinite Plan (Unlimited and has 5G). VoLTE is not showing but I tried calling over it and the Signal still 4G+ so I guess VoLTE is activated. My problem now is the 5G signal. Went to Wireless Wave (where I got the sim) but they can't figure it out as well. They gave me a number of the TechSupport they said maybe it is something that needs to be done backend.

I'm wondering if maybe some bands are just hidden for our 5G? Did you try the how to guide on how to unlock all bands? If you are able to get access into the service mode you might be able to do it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...23-series-including-sub-6-and-mmwave.4554611/

That's still better than being on Telus. My data drops down to H+ when I make a call and the call quality on 3G is terrible in an area of Toronto dominated by highrises.

I feel you but it is sad that we are not getting the service we are paying for. SIM Plan is new and the phone is one of the latest. It's just disapppointing. I'm calling Tech Support right now but it seems they don't know anything either but they are very helpful though.

Tech Support isn't allowed to tell you that features like VoLTE, VoWiFi, and in the case of some device brands, like OnePlus, 5G are not provisioned by the system because those device IMEI's and model numbers are not whitelisted in the system and there for, not permitted to use these features.
Hey Guys! I messed up. I tried changing the CSC just for the sake of trying it via the dialer by typing *#272*IMEI# and chose randomly BTB. Now VOLTE is gone, signal is only 4G (Not even 4G+) like before. I tried typing it again to change it back to my original CSC (XTC) but it wont work anymore (the *#272*IMEI#). Is there another way for me to change it back to the original CSC?
Was able to change it back to XTC using SamFW. Was hoping to change it to RWC (Rogers) but it failed. Oh well! XTC (4G+) is better than BTB (4G) but was hoping if RWC was forced I could have gotten a 5G signal (I think).
