You must not restart the device during this wait. Otherwise, you must wait for a similar period

, just do not turn the phone on or off for 7 days and the option will appear

Do you see time up the picture? Every time you restart the phone starts from zero again .. so you should not reboot for up to 7 continuous days to bring the time counter to approximately 168 hours

thx very much for your help ill do that :good:
Correct me if I am wrong but oem unlock does not allow for unlock of a bootloader on snapdragon versions right? I have seen confusion on this that people think it unlocks bootloader or unlocks it from network.

So you mean no hope for us U1 owners forever? I'm coming from a Note 3 so I'm not aware of the changes made to unlocking the bootloader, especially the lack of it at all for snapdragon variants. Tmo always had their devices easily unlockable, so I thought getting the U1 was an even better bet. I wanted the exynos version so bad. But the deal I got for the U1 was too good to pass on. I'm doing fine on stock. But I'm already missing Viper4android dearly. Dolby atmos isn't anywhere near to good.
Hopefully we U1 owners can join in on this boat someday.
So you have to wait seven full days for OEM unlock to show up? This is lame samsung. Is there any way around this? I have exynos
thanks,

I don't know if they Changed something or if this is new for the S9 Plus, but I was missing OEM unlock on my S8 Plus - I turned the phone off for 6 1/2 days of the 7 days. It did not have a SIM Card in the phone either as I had taken it out to use in a different phone. At EXACTLY the 168 hour mark the OEM Unlock came back. When I first checked it at the time it was supposed to switch ( I had written the time down when I had flashed OREO on this phone and that is when OEM disappeard) anyway - I turned the phone off one last time and rebooted and when it booted up - when I checked Developer Settings OEM unlock had come back.
The phone was off most of the time while waiting for the 7 days and it did not effect me at all.

Nope - no way arouind this - and if you flash a new rom in ODIN y ou have very good chance yoou will go thru this again - however, there are things you can do once you get OEM unlock back - after you have waited 7 days and it returns, flash TWRP then flash a file that fixes RMM State. (just google RMM State FIX and you will find it) along with a much better explanation for what it is and what to do to keep it from happening again.
Good Luck
My phone s9+ 965fd xsp has 188 hours now still no oem unlock... Any idea?

I think in my case it was down to me flashing a different CSC.
It was either that or I was not logged into a Samsung account.

Mine didn't unlock after 7 days.
I had previously changed csc.
I reflashed original csc stock image. And logged into a Samsung account. Then it unlocked after 168 hours without turning the phone off.

the bootloader will likely never be unlocked, which means no custom recovery and few custom ROMs.
the s8 (snapdragon) does have root and a ROM or two, but the ROMs will all be stock-based and rooting will cap your battery capacity at 80%
Thanks! Can you give me a link to the topic detailing how to do that? Really appreciate it. I found one but it's for S8.

Most reports suggest a SIM is required, and likely also a login to your Samsung account.
Rebooting or turning your phone off does NOT affect your time.
Have had phone since last Wednesday (4-11-18) have never taken SIM card out. Phone died once on 4-12-18. I have restarted it a few times but I read that doesn't affect the option showing up. It's now been over a week and still no oem unlock. Any ideas?? Am I doing something wrong?

I'm going to flash my TB to PagePlus but was waiting until the all-in-one tool is available, hopefully next week. The guy I bought the phone off accepted the OTA ICS update.
If I flash the phone to Pageplus first and then do the root after, does anyone know if rooting will screw up the flashing? I don't think it will but thought I'd ask YOU experts!
Thanks
Probably should root first just in case

Rooting after flashing to Page Plus should be okay.
As long as you don't mess with any radios, I'd assume.

I CAN'T GET THE DATA UP on my HTC Thunderbolt on Page Plus
I've been working on this phone for 3 days now, following every tutorial I can find, and I can't seem to get the data up. With the 4g card in I can SEE the APN, but can't edit it. With the card out my phone won't let me see it. I don't know if the settings are right, so I'm going to try to attach screen shots of my settings. I hope someone can help me get data on this phone. I can call and text, but no data.

Everything I read says its due to the HA/AAA keys. Without them, you can't authenticate. I've got voice/data/txt working with or without a SIM card. It doesn't seem to care except for the NAG message.

I'd put them back and try again. Try leaving the SIM out also. I have an AT&T SIM in mine and I get at least 1x data.
Enter Secrets..
I replaced my 4g Card with an older At&T sim, and put the Secrets in. Still no data. I have screenshots of my settings. If you'll give me some place to send them, I really need this data.

To be honest....I haven't done it yet. Been too busy and the All in one tool looks like it may have a few issues.....I'm gonna wait it out. I have been on PP for a few weeks now. No issues. No 3g but I don't really need it.
I flashed to Page Plus months ago and I love it... I get the same thing as I had with verizon but I pay $29 instead of $89 a month. I had a company called beigephone.com flash my phone for $50 because I didn't have time to figure it out myself. my 3g works perfectly though, so if your 3g doesn't work maybe your settings need to be fixed. did you flash it for Page Plus yourself? I'd actually like to learn how to do it, especially if it can be done without using CDMA WS.
I just used the all-in-one tool + revolutionary to root a different thunderbolt that was still on gingerbread (2.11.605.19). The only hiccup was that I had to remove/re-install the HTC drivers twice (solution here).
Please let me know if you decide to try it out on your ICS thunderbolt!
I know this might be a long shot since it's an old phone and whatnot, but I've recently breathed new life into my Mega from US Cellular. Had the screen repaired and it's good to go again after previously being destroyed by an estranged ex. I was wondering if there is a way to get the latest marshmallow update to the device? I've seen there are numerous posts for all other Mega models (i.e. - all models except the one I own). I would really like to use my Mega again but with it being on Kitkat, it's kind of useless at the moment.
Any help or advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.
And again, I apologize if I'm bringing up an old, dead phone, but I really loved this device years ago and I would like to love it again.
Cheers!

Not 100% sure about this, as I am only doing the same as you are with my L600 model (minus the screen repair >.<) lol.
For the Sprint model at least it is pretty much compatible with anything made by Silesh. Hopefully it is the same for you on USC .
Have you gained root or anything yet? that's going to be your first step on anything, old or not hopefully xD.

I have rooted my phone, but I have yet to find any roms that are higher than 4.4.2. I'm able to use the phone as it is just by inserting my active sim card, but hardly any of my daily apps will run because of the old OS. I've been too afraid to try any of the other roms for the other megas as I don't want to brick my phone. I just hope there's some way to bring this phone back to life. Hell, even lollipop would be a huge help at this point, lol.

Haha yea I beyond understand, my daily driver is a Moto E 2014 CDMA only device xD.
If you have acquired root, & custom recovery, try extracting the ROM u wish to install, & ONLY flash the boot.img, I do believe that Lollipop would run on most KK Kernels without much fussing.

So, I just made a discovery (I think). After taking the back of the phone off to retrieve my IMEI, I noticed that the model number on the phone says L600/R960. Does this, in theory, mean that I can use any roms that would normally be available to the L600 line of megas on my US Cell mega?!

You should be able to not ONLY use any of the great L600 Sprint based custom ROMs, but as I said before anything by Silesh.Nair should actually be compatible . & your radios should stay safe if you don't flash those over, however I am NOT 100% sure of anything I just said, still roughly 80% sure you won't do any real bricking or harm to it xD.
Also, would love to get a PM to discuss how much difficulty you had with your screen replacement, as mine is getting to be totally irresponsive in general haha.

So I managed to get a custom rom and whatnot onto my Mega. I'm currently running Cm12.1 with Philz Touch Recovery. Been using the phone for almost 24 hours now and all is working well. The only issue I've found this far is that despite being a 4G LTE phone, I can only manage to get 3G. This could just be a carrier problem and not the phone or rom. I'm not at home right now, but when I get home I'll post the instructions I used to get everything working. Cheers!

So I did that and found that my GSM service is currently active, yet my preferred network type is set to LTE/CDMA. I tried changing it to LTE/GSM to see if that would help anything, but it just sets itself back to CDMA after a few seconds.

I did try your suggestion, but as I said before, none of the changes I make seem to stick. After a few seconds, I can watch the setting change right back to the default setting. I don't know if I'm missing something to make the setting take hold, but for now I'm stuck on LTE/CDMA auto (PRL). I wasn't even aware this was a GSM phone as I thought US Cellular used CDMA. I could be wrong, though.

I just got my ZenFone AR a few days ago and must say I am very impressed. I'm not sure what kind of traction this phone will get because of its high price and the fact that Asus phones are really not too much of popular mainstream products compared to other brands.
But the overall visual hardware specs (native 23MP stills with Sony's new IMX318 sensor and capable of up to 92MP stacked super-resolution still photos), 8GB RAM and AR capabilities of this hardware is absolutely unmatched at this point in time.
This is a very special product, by far the most exciting phone I've seen rolling out this year! I'm working on a full review of the phone and will post it soon along with photo samples at full resolution.
I'd hope to see people joining into getting root and a recovery for this. Ready to contribute to the development and getting things cookin' asap

I assume that this means it is not unlockable via fastboot. If so, that is going to be up to Asus. I don't think anyone is likely to work on hacking it unless it becomes much more popular. Asus does have a fairly good record of releasing an unlock tool after the device has been available for some time.
You could ask them if they are going to release an unlock tool.

It's all up to how much the development community want to mess with said phone. Not saying our ZenFone ar on Verizon will get root but it could.

I'll keep my fingers crossed but some good phones never got root, either, like the Moto Z Force, for one. I hope so just so I Can edit my mixer_paths and maybe actually hear the person I'm talking to on the phone

Root without breaking Tango or Daydream would be awesome, a phone that might finally slow down my wanderlust in the Android world, LOL....

It would be awesome to know how to put the Verizon variant into recovery mode using the button combos as I have tried everything suggested with fail at every turn.

No, but mine froze up today, completely. For hours it would do nothing except occasionally the captive buttons would like up. I was freaking out, but I found out, hold power and vol down and it did a hard reboot and was fine.

You can get to fastboot mode by powering off the device then press volume down and power at the same time. If you need to clear cache you have to have sdk installed on your PC or the quick install ADB. open command prompt on your pc by pressing shift + right click type: fastboot devices when it comes back with your device type: fastboot oem reboot-recovery just like that. it will reboot to recovery then you can clear cache. Thank you.

Oh yeah, duh. Since this is the first Android I've ever had that was not rooted I didn't even consider using ADB. LOL

corona63976, thanks a lot for the info! Right on!!!
Been poking around ASUS website. Found that they've posted kernel source and firmware. Not sure what the differences would be from the WW to Verizon modded one. Also stumbled upon an APK from ASUS for another Zenphone that said it was to unlock phones Android MM and Android N. Tried to install APK. It wouldn't install due to it or another version being installed...? App won't let upload screenshot here's link

I did some more looking around and it seems the ULT uses a CPU key from device to unlock. I'm wonder if the app could be modified to work... Until or if ASUS releases one for the AR. Running through system process saw that it has root detect service. SafetyNet I think. And wonder if that would cause an issue in the process of getting unlocked boot loader or root. Probably not since Knox is able to be bypassed. Have gotten hotspot and tether going without root. But that's not the reason I want root. Miss having/using Cynogen and Nethunter on phone. Without root it's useless. I have a few more days left to exchange. Still trying to figure if I want keep it and hope for root. Or go back to Notes since the 8 is out... Feel like on the Samsung side they'll make some type of progress. Sooner rather than later...
bricked
Hello everyone.
Today I installed an official OTA update for my brand new ZenFoneAR over the notification bar. Unfortunately the device ended up in a boot loop. I could switch it off and I can access the bootloader with power+volume up. Unfortunately selecting the Recovery mode also leads to a reboot. The three days old, 1000$ phone is essentially bricked.:crying:
I believe I could flash recovery via fastboot if I had a stock recovery image. On the Asus website* I have found some firmware images (zip files) but none of them contains a recovery.img file.
Is there any way to get hold of a stock recovery.img? I don't have a "Verizon" phone (bought it in Switzerland) but it still says "DEVICE STATE - locked" in the bootloader menu...

Given that you didn't modify the phone and installed an ota, why not just rma it?

Yes, I will certainly do that when there is no way to fix it myself. However I can't do a return on the weekend and I'm not keen on waiting for weeks for a replacement either.
Meanwhile I have found out how to create a system.img from the OTA update on the Asus website using sdat2img.py. Unfortunately this can't be flashed via fastboot onto a locked phone. The ZIP also contains images for boot, asusfw, mdtp and splash but sadly no recovery.
so about 8 days ago i saw there were updates for my S9 software available , at this time i was about to root and had oem unlock visible. anyway i thought it would be good to do the updates first as it said something about improving the camera stability which i thought would be worthwhile to do before root ( and then cant do OTA updates)
anyway after the updates the phone restarted and said something about security issue and restarted again. after that no OEM unlock available. i just waited 7 days with no restart and no OEM unlock is still not visible.
so yesterday i did full reset of device and will wait another 7 days, phone has no sim in it as im not using it. but it is signed into google but not samsung account. do we know if this good enough to get the OEM unlock after 7 days ?
its a long time to wait each time... had the phone over 2 weeks now and still using my s8 as i cant root this new one yet...
please can we confirm what exactly is required to make sure that after 7 days we see the unlock ?
insert sim card ?
google account sign in
Samsung account sign in
don't power off or reboot
i didn't insert sim or sign into Samsung last time.. not sure if necessary ?
would be good to make sure what is needed for sure.
I saw this on this forum, but my phone had OEM unlocking even on the first days of purchase.
I have the same problem with my s9+ have been waiting for 7 days since first start the phone but I did factory reset few times trying to get OEM but still no luck.
My wife s8 had the Oreo update this morning then I checked the dev mode after it completed and fuss what OEM is fine too arrrrrr
I believe you need a SIM.
Also factory reset will reset the timer. So dont do that!
Hi, any update in this. I'm currently experiencing the same thing. Did the OEM unlock eventually show up?

Unfortunately you just have to wait it out, there have been cases where weeks went by and then it just pops up.
Some people have had luck changing csc but doing that has caused others issues.
Even since the note 8 came out last year this isnt fully understood sadly

Well damn this sucks. Might just sell it for op6 or something then. Thanks tho.
can someone tell me the bootloder unlock timeout
360 hours in most cases.
For me 360 hrs, am still waiting.......
15 days and FYI dont sign out of miui account or do factory reset during that time. If you do you have to create a new account and start the wait over again.
mine is gonna be delivered. gotta wait 360hrs to unlock?

The normal setup is:
- Go to Settings/Mi Account and logging in.
- Go to Settings/About phone and tap 7 times on MIUI version (to enable Developer Options)
- Go to Settings/Additional settings/Developer options and enable USB Debugging and OEM unlocking, in the same section go to Mi Unlock status and Agree the Permissions required, from the link you can download directly the MiUnlock Tool and then move it to your pc, now tap on Add account and device; this will bind your account and device.
- You can go to fastboot using buttons or downloading ADB installer https://androidmtk.com/download-15-seconds-adb-installer, if you set it up ADB installer you can go to fastboot mode by typing
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
or same way you can go to it by shutting down device, then pressing and holding vol- and pwr at same time.
- Connect device to pc and open MiUnlock Tool that you previously downloaded, logging in, Tool will warn you two or three times, then tap on "Unlock now" usually users are receiving 360 hrs wait time.
- From here be careful trying to downgrade or formatting data or resetting the account trying some workaround cause the tool can reset this time and start again the countdown time.
My bootloader was unlocked without any waiting time with MiUnlock.
I thought I would wait very long and was ready for it.
How could this happen?
Thanks man

Lucky you
The average time is 15 days
For me was 30 minute before 15 days
so seems wait time is shorter now for some reason. Weird, I got a redmi note pro 64 gb and was able to adb in and flash twrp right away but I had to run the antirollback dummy.img first then it went off without a hitch. I restored the original firmware but I think the amazon seller was unlocking chinese versions and flashing the global ROM which made it work right but you still didn't have the LTE bands it should have had. So I returned it since that seller 'wireless place' seems to be doing this with all phones they sell.

Either they changed their unlock policy very recently, or most likely you experienced a lucky glitch on their server.
EDIT: Or what the quote below mentions. Does your phone have proper LTE bands?

Apparently not "all". I got my Mi 8 Lite from Wireless place. Took 15 days to unlock and it has all the bands. Working great on Cricket Wireless.

Yeah I just got a mi 8 lite 128 also, great looking phone works nicely but I went thru the process and yup 360 hours..........now if after 15 days it still doesn't work I still have 15 days to return it to amazon because that is the main reason I went with xiaomi. It was a oneplus or xiaomi and it was half the price for similar hardware specs not exact of course.

Some folks have reported theirs unlocked a few days shy of the 15 days. I kept checking mine about every other day just to make sure it was actually counting down. Even with 16 hours left, it would not allow me to unlock. Then on unlocking hour, I was busy and missed it by a few hours, but it immediately unlocked. I had TWRP on it within a few minutes, and rooted a day or two after. Yipee! Love the phone!

ah so you can hit the unlock button without it resetting or anything, I was trying to figure out a way to know how long has passed. So just doing the unlock procedure should tell me then I assume from your post.

Yes .
Edit: Don't freak out because what it will say is very much in broken English (engrish). It will say something like "Failed to unlock after NNN hours" instead of something more obvious such as "NNN hours until unlock"
