Enable T-Mobile USA multi-line support on unlocked S9+ Snapdragon - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

I've read a few posts that mention the unlocked S9+ will enable carrier specific features based off of the SIM card installed. Anyone know how I can enable the phone's settings for T-Mobile's multi- line service? Thanks.

Isn't there a T-Mobile app for that? I haven't used that second line thing in a while.

There is the stand alone Digits app; however, you don't need this app with GS9s from T-Mobile because the built in dialer and messaging apps support multi lines already.

If your phone is on the TMB CSC, it should have it already.
Go to Settings > About and find 'Service Provider information'. There will be 3 CSCs in the format XXX/XXX/XXX, post them here so we can see what CSC is currently active on your phone.

Yeah that's fine. Technically all T-Mobile features should work fine.
TMB/TMB/XAA means:
1st CSC = TMB is the active CSC on the device. TMB specific features should work and OTAs will be received as they are released for the TMB CSC.
2nd CSC = CSC belonging to the SIM card currently in the device.
3rd CSC = hardware / original CSC the device was shipped with. XAA is the default unlocked CSC for the U1 models.

Only other way I can think is doing a full carrier switch to a G965U (TMB) ROM to get all T-Mobile features working in case they aren't already. This will bring a T-Mobile startup boot animation and some carrier bloat as well.

I think I'll have to give that a try next. Will loading the T-Mobile ROM lock my device to T-Mobile? I bought the unlocked version in case I switch carriers.

No it won't lock your phone.

The multi-line settings is actually missing from non-T-Mobile branded phones. Has anyone had luck getting them turned on without root?

S9+ change csc firmware

Hello All,
I just got the Galaxy S9+ Brazilian variant SM-G9650 with original ZTO CSC.
I want to know if I can change the firmware to the TMB CSC, T-Mobile USA SM-G965U, without any damage. (via Odin)
Both variants have exactly the same hardware.
up
I have an unlocked exynos variant. The original csc when I got the phone was ITV (Italy). I live in Greece and when I inserted my Greek operator sim card, I got a message saying that I should factory reset the phone with the sim card inserted so as to get the proper settings for my region.
I did the factory reset, and after the reboot the csc of the phone changed to EUR (Greece), i.e. to the csc of my sim card.
Is that what you are asking?
Otherwise as you said you can flash the csc you want via Odin.
965u is different from 9650. Odin probably will fail.
通过我的 Mi Note 3 上的 Tapatalk发言
965u and 9650 have different bootloaders, as the first one is locked and the second one isn't.
I'm not sure if it will work, even considering both use SD845.
Little knowledge is dangerous
One is Snapdragon (U) and the other is Exynos (F/D).
To get T Mobile features on the exynos variant
1. Root
2. Load debloated Firmware which houses the T MObile tweaks
3. Load multi CSC file

Oh, I see. Maybe the original questions was never answered... My Bad.... I ahve been doing a lot of research on this topic and am possibly getting my threads confused. Sorry... So here is your answer...
No. You cant at this time.
I have been looking at every possible scenario I could think of to do this. I am going from VZW to T-Mo as of this past Sunday.
If you are on version 1 of the bootloader you "may" be able to. However, it would require flashing a International unlocked ROM. Changing the CSC with the field / test mode app then flash the T-Mo ROM. This DOES NOT work on V2 bootloaders. V2 Bootloaders are almost any device after the first software update. And to be honest with you I may even be confusing this process with the S8+
If you find anything post it here or send me a PM. I will do the same for sure!
Good luck to us with this!

Yes, Seems he may be confusing F/D for the 9650 which as far as I know there is no F/D variant of the 9650.
F= Exynos
D=Dual SIM
to those that do not know.
Thanks sir!
Is there any way to change CSC from TTT to ZTO without a SIM card of region and without root?

ATT S9+ with Unlocked or T-Mobile USA firmware?

Hello to all professionals on this site. I have a question. I just got an ATT S9+ and unlocked by ATT unlock code. I'm currently using T-mobile USA sim. I would like to know how to do a firmware switch? Can I switch to unlocked firmware or I need to flash to T-mobile USA firmware? is there any detail step by step tutorial for flashing? I dont want to brick my phone.

What is your CSC code that is displayed in software information where it says Service provider info
I'm trying to the same thing. Hasn't worked for me yet. I had successful flash according to Odin and my firmware is reflected in setting however i still have att boot/bloat. I flashed tmb user data as well using patched Odin and I'm currently showing I'm on 2rc6 firmware but i think I'm sick on it because of bootloader v2 and can't flash any v1 firmware now...
Any ideas how to complete and swap my user data over to T-Mobile? Thanks

I have frp off but it's setup. Should i factory reset before trying to flash to u1 or does it not matter? I tried rb7 but it failed. Also i noticed while trying to flash it didn't load ap very well. Normally it freezes for a sec while verifying but it instantly added. Maybe a bad download? I'm downloading rbg now which is an md5 so maybe that was an issue before because the rb7 wasn't. I'll see if that works. Just a lil worried about going to a version 1 bootloader from version 2 as i read that wasn't possible. Hoping for the best. Thanks for the help

Flashing u1 roms aren't working. Tried several times with different cables etc... Odin fail, (auth) complete write fail. I think I'm stuck til this gets a real solution or unlocked rom gets bootloader v2 or becomes unlockable then maybe it'll work? If anyone comes up with a solution please post. Thanks

Oh you on V2 bootloader, well you are stuck on it because U1 is on V1. Currently only T-Mobile and AT&T have V2 firmware out so you can try flashing in between.
Am on U firmware 2ARD3 but am pure stock without carrier bloatware.
What are you trying to achieve with the T-Mobile userdata?

I have the same question as OP. What would I accomplish by flashing the T-Mobile V2 U firmware as opposed to the most recent U1? Is there anything I can't manually enable while staying on unlocked? I don't want to go to the V2 bootloader if I don't have to for the time being, at least until we see an unlocked V2 version.

The U1 is pure stock, I personally would stay on it..
The carrier U firmware are just full of bloatware and also contains the userdata for that specific carrier so that some features work properly like voice over LTE etc. If that doesn't bother you then stay on your version because there isn't any V2 bootloader for the U1 firmware

I definitely want those features, is there a way to enable them while on U1? I don't want bloat, but to my understand T-Mobile's bloat isn't too bad.

Well I assume you already running the U1 firmware, so you only need to flash the userdata from the U firmware.
Use the userdata from the V1 firmware for T-Mobile, use modded Odin and flash the userdata and you should have T-Mobile features :good:

I'm a T-Mobile post paid with unlimited everything but mainly wifi calling in areas where reception isn't great is pretty important. Also would like direct video, HD vice, and especially VoLte working. Since all the carrier software is in the user data I just want to have the T-Mobile in place of the att. Phone works well otherwise and I can live with it the way it is for a bit til it gets sorted out. But hopefully there will be an unlocked v2 firmware soon that will flash. Or bootloader unlock!

U1 generally be the last to get updates

No WiFi calling option

I have an international S9+ (SM-965F/DS, 256G) and noticed there is no WiFi calling option under Connections/More Connection Settings (or anywhere else). What's up with that? The phone passed all authenticity checks I threw at it, including working Iris scanner and dual-aperture camera, so I really don't think it's a fake.
Of note, I have 2 T-Mobile Sims in it, and everything else seems to be working fine.

Unless you unlock the bootloader and flash the T-Mobile CSC, WiFi calling, VoLTE, video calling, and RCS will not work on the SM-G965F.
Wow, really? Where can I get TMo firmware? And if I do that, will it trip Knox and kill Samsung Pay? Also, will I get Tmo OTA updates after that? Thanks.

That is incorrect! I have it working perfectly fine on my Canadian version 965W. Did you flash to U1 and stay there or did you flash to the TMB U firmware? I have tried both but went back to U1 because of the updates contain the v2 bootloader. I don't have the option to turn it on in U1 but when I connect to WiFi, WiFi Calling automatically is enabled and yes, I have made calls over WiFi to confirm it works.

Thanks, I'll correct my post to say SM-G965F instead of "any non-US model". It seems that the SM-G965W firmware contains all the T-Mobile bits (eg. /system/framework/TmoWfcUtils.jar), while the SM-G965F does not.

Our exynos devices are vastly different but also superior in many ways. No locked bootloader for us, snap doesn't even have root!

In the UK, you will need to have a "branded" handset.
My S9+ was originally from Vodafone, but I'm using it on Three.
To get WiFI calling, I flashed the stock Three firmware.
You can probably get away with a BTU firmware, and flashing your carriers CSC, but I couldn't be bothered as there was very little bloatware on the Three firmware.

Ah - well that explains it!
Do you have linkage to the Three 9+ firmware?
I have heard there is a way to change the CSC without rooting, unlocking bootloader, or tripping Knox. I want to avoid that in order to continue using Samsung Pay. If I absolutely have to choose, I will root to get WiFi calling, but if it's possible to get it without rooting, I'm going to find a way!

Mixing and matching firmware can be hit and miss. I wouldn't swap Exynos bootloaders with SnapDragon or vice versa though. The CSC contains the bulk of the carrier related settings and apps. There are usually two CSC files. One will wipe, one won't. The CSC_HOME doesn't wipe but may cause some issues. The other will wipe, at least to some degree. You also might want to look at some of the Combination ROM's available to see if they have all of what you need.
In order to flash without tripping things. The modded or patched version of ODIN is needed.

So if I wanted to flash the US T-Mobile stock firmware, how would I do it? Where would I even get the firmware? It's not on sammobile as far as I can see.
So I flashed the XEU most recent firmware - released a couple days ago. My device is SM-G965F BTU. Downloaded via SamFirm and flashed the four files with Odin.
Now have VoWifi and VoLTE.

Good News!! The brand new XEU stock firmware with may security patch for the S9+ works with WiFi calling and Volte so no need to use the three firmware anymore. I don't know about TMobile but the changelogs stated improvements to Volte and VoWiFI so my guess is that lots of carriers where added to get it work in the multi CSC. Btu for some reason uses a different non multi CSC so don't use BTU

SM-G965W to U1 need some guidance (Canada to Verizon)

We're adding a line on our Verizon account with an S9+ that was on Canada's freedom mobile network.
I checked the IMEI on Verizon byod and it shows not compatible.
I asked some questions on reddit and was told to try flashing U1 firmware.
Been a while since I tinkered with phones like this so I'm comfortable with it but wondering:
Is this possible?
And if so, where to start? Any guides here I can follow?

cant do it. the U1 firmware is for SnapDragon processors and the G960F has a Exynos. not compatible and youre not going to be able to use that phone on vzw period. sorry man. well, you can theoretically use it for data, but thats it. Basically, no F model galaxy phones on vzw

Thanks for the reply.
This is G965W, from what I see online that's Snapdragon.
Does that make the switch possible?

my bad, i was thinking the F model for some odd reason. If its the W, then it should be fine. The only snapdragon models the U1 doesnt work for is the chinese ones

That's great then.
Can you point me to where I'd find instructions and download to the U1 software for G965W?

https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...SM-G965U1/AIO/download/G965U1UES6CSH8/291028/
but use samfirm or firja to download it unless you like waiting for hours unnecessarily lol
frija
samfirm
get the pda and csc alphanumerics from that page i linked above and enter them in either of those tools (they do the exact same thing and do it equally as well as one another. choosing between the two is simply a ford/chevy thing)
from there youll need the patched Odin to flash carrier free firmware on a carrier dependent phone.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
there ya go!

Downloading the file from Frija now, thanks!
Curious how would I have known to choose AIO over XAA or another unknown country code?

to my understanding, all the "unknown" country codes are unbranded and the only difference is the security updates. I just went with the latest one available when i flashed my U1 firmware

"Factory Unlocked Phones are not made for a specific carrier thus are unlocked out the factory. These phones can be used on ANY GSM carrier as long as the phone carriers the band widths that carrier supports."
In simple words yes It should work with no problems. However It depends on band widths your carrier supports.
About software updates you will receive everything. Don't worry

You may have to change the CSC to India for everything to work nicely.

Impossible...as the firmware only carries CSCs of the US. U and U1....

Depends....every carrier releases at different times. If you want to stay updated the fastest. Then download and flash who ever comes first then change the CSC to your preference.

Yes, You will get update when curruntly set CSC gets update. (You can check from Settings - about phone - Software Info)
Though If your device is S918U/U1 may some network features won't work expected, specifically Jio.

Getting updates should not be a problem. Some things may not work unless you change the CSC.

My phone from another region was not reading the SIM card. Once I changed the CSC, it did.

Not sure about now, but few years back I changed the CSC of my device to make it detect the SIM card. It wasn't from the USA though.
The option you're referring to is now housed in Preconfig.
MPS CODE.
Enable it....to prevent your CSC from changing over when you put in any sim card. Disable it and it will always change.

You can't change csc to INS, unless rooted.
