I notice that my Samsung S9+ While I use Iris scan for unlock phone , the led are blinking but my friend who have one are not .
Because Led indication of my friend's S9+ are steady light but im not. So i suspect that my s9+ are defect? but the function still work correctly
When i test the function with *#0*# and use iris scaner test : the light are steady but when i out from that mode and use the iris to unlock my phone ,
the light still blink with high frequency but not steady.
I have seen two S9+ and both do that. Neither scanners work as well as the one on my old S8+ but it works well enough I guess.

Same result here
Iris test shows a steady red light
Unlocking the phone has more of a fast flicker....
Either way it seems to work

I just bought SSGS2 last week, and i noticed that when i make a call, this the red light will be blinking/flashing. When I compare it to other SSGS2, all of which will have a red light on when make a phone call (not blinking/flashing).
So I was wondering if anyone had the blinking light?
As far as I am concerned, it does not affect usage just yet.
But who knows...it might be a sign of inferior sensor.
Thank you.

What red lights are you reffering to. there are no LED's on the SGS2 that I know of, wish there were.

Use your phone in the dark, you will see a very dim red glow where the proximity sensor is.
Thank you.
Should it be blinking? or stay on while calling?
Mine is blinking. Those of my friends stay on
can some one please advise, Proximity Sensor should be Blinking/Flashing or solid On when you are on call?
It's blinking for me as well... Why are you guys so paranoid. Is it working? Yes it is.
It blinks extremely quickly, seems like 20 times a second. I can in indoors lighting clearly.

not paranoid mate, just want to find out if this is normal, yes so far this is not affecting performance.
Well my so called proximity sensor "red dot" keeps flickering while in standby/phone locked. I understand it's suppose to be on while on a call etc. but what when the phone is lying idle?
same problem!

kindly email me if you have method to solve it . [email protected]
I dont know if this is relevant but I've had both the i9100 and the i9100G. On the G variant the blinking of the proximity sensor was pronounced and noticeable.. whereas on the international variant I've never yet noticed it blinking or staying on. Maybe you have the G variant?

If you have Viber, uninstall it! I had that issue few days back. actually I just uninstalled it because it was draining my juice but the then after getting rid of the viber app my proximity sensor was no longer blinking like crazy.
Since I dont use Viber I unistall it.

probably the proximity sensor
seen it on my evo lte, dont see it on my new, far superior, sgs3 (sprint), but seems to me that it may be an IR led.
the phone has to send something out to see if it will get it back to measure proximity, whats better than infrared light??
thats my story and im sticking to it
The light that you are noticing is the infrared LED used for the proximity sensor (turning the screen off when placed against your face). This LED likely also helps with facial recognition (for unlocking via the front camera) and eye tracking (keeping the screen on while you are looking at it) as well...as it appears to be on in those times. This is used because infrared light is reflected by your eyes and easy for a camera to pick up.
Hope this answers your question!
God Bless!!!
No it's skynet. Your phone is about to start the machine uprising.
Sorry couldn't resist. Was talking to some friends at lunch about terminator.
I've seen the light as well. Not sure what it is. Samsung has done some tricky things with this phone. Like hiding the nv_data.bin file in a different mount point. My refs got corrupt with me doing nothing but flashing cwm through Odin.

You can reflash your ROM or change it, maybe it is problematic or the flash didn't go well.
I already done that and problem is still same.

Does Moto Z come with notification light at all?
I've heard 2 different answers, can anyone who owns one confirm this pls.
i've noticed moo g4 plus there is no mention of led light but when charging there's a hidden light, see link below. Perhaps the same coud be true for moto z.
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2016/05/moto-g4-plus-has-hidden-led-light/
Z owners try the following
Turn phone off and insert charger.
G4 plus has a hidden notification light, next to the fingerprint reader is only visible trying the above method.
no lights, when phone is on you need to wave your hand over the sensor next to the FP reader and the screen will light up with your notification
It's only the fourth year it's been this way.
How many threads do you need to post the same question? Is it really necessary to post in the Z force section too!?!? One is enough imo. Senior member too..

I have had a dim red light illuminate on the right side of the finger print scanner closer to the right edge then the scanner but no directly on the edge. I have the white Z, so the areas are much more evident. I was baffled as to why it was illuminated or exactly what it was and shortly after seeing it it was gone. I thought for a moment it was some sort of IR thing, but no idea. Very dim but clearly visible as a red light in a dark room. I've tried to see what I could do to make it reappear but no clue what brought it on.

I have a 2014 Moto X and my IR sensors do this. I'm positive that's what you're seeing.
Possible notification light on MOTO Z Play
I tried to flash TWRP recovery of other devices into my MOTO Z Play hoping to find a way to root. However all the recoveries of previous MOTO devices are not compatible, and after flashing a small white light located right to the speaker bar blinked. Don't know wether this light was evoked by TWRP recovery or error in fastboot, and why it didn't appear when phone was on.

I've seen the same white light after updating last night. It seems to be similar to the green light on the Moto x 2014 I have. So maybe after cracking the bootloader unlock code and rooting there will be some function. But it probably won't work as you are hoping. But as has been mentioned it's been this way for years on these devices.
Waiting for more answers...
I don't know why Motorola didn't just activate by default, perplexing decision to include some sort of notification light but not activate it.

I don't like LED Notifications, but as Moto Display doesn't keep the screen on when notifications are received at least the LED should be working...

No it's to the left of that. It's behind something
I have the moto Z and can confirm the white light, I have seen it when flashing a firmware and rebooting I think.
But is like mentioned, back of something.
I have the Moto Z Force. It is right near the speaker grill on the right side. Just got a security update for nougat and it rebooted and for a second there was a tiny white light there. Kinda like the droid turbo I had, but that didn't turn on till I dropped it in water lol.
Hii guys, um new to the Galaxy S9 and i have a S9+ (Snapdragon)
Anyways after enabling intelligent scan there's a strong red led light kind of a thing blinks whenever i switch on the lock screen which is obviously the iris scanner, but it is so annoying and super bright red light which is really difficult for my eyes to see it
any methods to fix it or disable the red LED ??
After using only the facial recognition it is not as accurate as intelligent scan
So if any one can help, its really appreciated

Disabling the red LED means not using the iris scanner, so the only way is to use facial recognition...
But you should know that you don't have to look directly at this LED to unlock the phone...
you can try to use only the face recognition, it's won't use the red led.
When I bought the phone I stated use the intelligent that use iris and face scanners and after few days I started to feel burn in the eyes when use that, so I quit and since than I'm use only fingerprint, and to be honest, it's extremly quicker than the other methods
