Calls auto rejected and send SMS on Galaxy S9 Plus - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Hello
I recently experienced a problem on my New Galaxy S9+. If my phone is in pocket, each calls are disconnected automatically and sms is sent to everyone saying "Sorry Can't talk right now. Call back later". I was really disappointed and later found an option that sends the message as shown in the below screenshot. It was the option that If the phone is turned downward and if we touch the heartbeat sensor for 2 second then the message is sent to the caller. I tried even with clothes and paper touching the sensor, the sensor recognizes it as finger and it declines the call still which is a big funny issue. Is this any bug or is there any other way to disable the quick reply option?
Also Is anyone facing the issue?
I have posted the screenshot as reference.
Thank You .

Sadly Samsung took away the option to turn this feature off. Even I'm experiencing the same problem. On my s8 on android 7 the feature was there but with oreo update they took it out.

Toggle it on wait then toggle it back off
sometimes they dont take effect if it was a transferred setting
also I see another setting Under display that says "block accidental touches" i have that set to ON

I had this happen to me yesterday! Hopefully changing this setting fixes it.

This way didn't work for me. The only way to turn this feature off is to turn off edge lighting or show edge lighting to when screen is on only.

Thats weird Mine dont do that at all. Well good luck if i hear anything ill let you know and if you here anything let me know

I found the solution! For 8.1 Oreo, Settings>Display>Edge Screen>Edge Lighting. Tap the 3 dots in the upper-right, select quick reply. From there you can edit the message. Sadly, you can't disable this without turning off Edge Lighting completely. If someone out there knows how then let the rest of us know!

There's a workaround. You can either turn off edge lighting or switch it to only when the screen is on. The downside is that edge lighting will not work if your phone screen is off. At least it stopped rejecting calls when the phone is in my pocket...
Settings > Edge Screen > Edge lighting > Select "When screen is on" or turn off edge lighting completely.

Fyi quick reply on/off is added back. I'm on the latest galaxy s8 plus firmware which I received today with june 1 security patch.

[Q] notification bar light

Hi, is there a way to dim the notification led bar and to keep it on at all times or adjust how long it stays on for? Because when using the phone in the dark its a mission to find the back or home button.
Thanks
Try with light flow from market.
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
I was also thinking of doing something with the bar light. During the day it's useless to keep it on, it's just using battery for nothing. It would be nice ti have a feature of turning off during the day and on in the evening. It would save a lot of battery also... I would prefer turning off for good and save battery.

they are just LED lights, barely use any battery anyway.
I think it should turn on almost every new notification it gets. For E-mal/Gmail, message, etc.
I have found an app called Adjbrightness that disable the soft keys but you need root. I don't have rooted my Xperia S so i will use the app called screen filter that have an option that disable the soft keys. I have putted the filter to 100% so it won't change my screen brightness. I will check if there some battery % saving or not.

It does work in disabling the belts LEDs without root however I found it lagged my phone pretty bad, I haven't tested battery usage either.
I have a stupid question. How do I get the notification led bar to come on when I have a missed call, email, etc? All I have working is a blinking blue led light on the top left corner.
Thanks.
It would indeed be nice if you can just set for how long it must be On.
For now, gently tap the camera button, when you are in the dark, and the belt Leds are off

I use Screen Filter to disable the soft keys light andt here is no lag. I can't say if is saving battery or not but I like the lights off because the lights from the bar can be very annoying sometime.

The code to increase or decrease LDE lights is somewhere on the software. As well as pulse effect like when we connect the charger.
I will try to get in touch with a rom cooker and see if we can get to the source code. If I get my hands on it I will try to create a simple app to regulate the LEDs manually. Maybe activate the pulse effect for missed notifications.

That would actually be pretty amazing. It would be nice to have control of the bar, because I love the bar on this phone. Even having it for just missed calls I would be ecstatic .

Edit: Main problem right now that I am facing is not even eclipse related. I wonder how are we gona be able to override the system values, for example the max current can be changed and it stays there untouched, that way we can completely disable the LEDs lets say for the day time, but, I havent found a way to override the brightness, it goes from 0-255 , 0 being OFF , 255 Full brightness, whenever the screen goes off/on the system automatically re-adjusts the brightness levels without changing the max current values.
Lets imagine, I wanna show off and have my LED shining in the evening even with the screen OFF, i managed to do it once, but it was a matter of time until the system override my values :/
Edit2: I just came up with a solution while writing my 1st edit, and it works lol... I will get on eclipse tomorrow!

Screen Timeout when using Phone functions

Ok, this is annoying. I have my display timeout set to 5 minutes, but when I use the phone functions, the screen timeout is 30 seconds and there seems to be no way to change it. This is very annoying when trying to call an IVR and the screen keeps turning off.
Anyone know how I can fix this issue?
Thanx,
Rob
Thinking you might be able to go into call settings, and turn off your proximity sensor.(ICS rom)...not sure on GB.
this will allow the screen to stay on. and If the screen is touched, will refresh the 5 minute screen off time set by the OS.........
maybe......
try and report.....g
Already tried that with no success. I am using the ICS update. The problem existed in both versions though.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that experiences this....

No, your not, but it sounds like your calling style may be a bit unique....long calls etc.
I'm sure more folks will chime in soon.
Sorry I could'nt help you.....g
What case and screen protector are you using? The sensor has to be uncovered. Its in the top right corner.
No case and no screen protector. Same issue on 2 friend's Notes'. It is a bug, just want to know if someone has found/fixed it.

Just because you don't like the way it works doesn't mean it's a bug. I'm sure the intention is to prevent accidental touches when a phone call is ongoing. It's more likely just not implemented well.
At any rate, try this:

@lactardjosh:

I'm not sure that everyone reading this is quite understanding the problem.
Here's the easiest example:
1 - Phone yourself and leave a long detailed voicemail
2 - Call in to check that voicemail...but on speakerphone
3 - While listening to the voicemail, the screen will go dim after 30 seconds, regardless of your backlight setting.
The problem is that it's annoying to have to turn the screen back on (press the power button) just to press the on-screen buttons to save/delete the message. The same problem can occur while navigating any "touch tone" prompt system.
It would be nice if the phone function would follow the same backlight timeout settings as the rest of the phone.
Is that a power saving setting?
I understand the issue; it happens to me, too. And I also find it annoying.
It happens on my friend's Droid Razr Maxx, too.
OOOhhhhhhh....good thought !!
gonna try it now....g
@ RC...
I don't think so because I have the power saving stuff off. I'm amazed to be the first to complain about this. I suffered through this with GB, hoping that ICS would fix it, but to no avail. That PowerOn app is nice. I'm trying it now. Thanx for the suggestion. The right fix would be to set the phone app to follow the screen timeout.
Yeah, Rbeaubien is right-- the power saving settings didn't do it either.
The app that lactardjosh suggested is the only working solution.
Edit: I tried the app. It was a little work to set it up, and it works perfect. Thanks Josh!
Glad it worked.
The proximity sensor still works properly with that app enabled?
This has been driving me crazy. It does it even when not on a call or VM. Just leave the dialer open. Feels like it shuts off in a couple seconds. I make a ton of calls from my phone for work and it drives me insane that the dialer shuts off if I'm taking a while to put in the number.

Its not a bug. The screen timeout does not work with what you have set. It defaults back to the 30 seconds to keep from accidentally hitting buttons while on calls. Samsung will tell u the same thing. It happens on my note infuse and skyrocket. Also on the inspire when i had it. ITS NOT A BUG!

Ok, it's not a bug, it's a POORLY implemented feature..... The proximity sensor is the feature that will keep you from hitting buttons accidentally.
And the ScreenOn app doesn't work all the time when on battery. Still annoying. Better than without though...

Does this phone allows "ok google" when screen is off"?

Hi, will buy this phone but need first to know about this question. Is it able to wake the phone with "ok google" voice command" or even unlock the phone with voice? Thanks.

do you have the option enabled in smart unlock?
Am I being stupid? Do i need to install assistant? Can't seem to turn it on anywhere?
Ok I've found that assistant is on but it won't let me turn on the voice match switch?
Ok Google doesn't work on phone or in car. Works on speaker at home ok. Worked on my old phone. What do I need to do to get it working?
I cannot get the Assistant to unlock my phone even with all the right toggles and voice training and everything else. In fact, reading this thread made me realize that I had already set the right features and toggles and that when I said 'OK Google' the phone would wake up but only to the lockscreen... BUT, when I went in and re-did everything from scratch, toggling every part of the security off and then on again, prompting full voice training and the works... Now my phone absolutely ignores me saying it while the screen is off. This is strange considering that all assistant features work perfectly otherwise. And yes, I'm sure I have all the right things turned on, I have every Google security measure greenlit, I rebooted the phone, etc, etc. So it isn't people's imaginations that this is buggy. I'm on the .127 build through Telus, if that matters. It would nice to get this resolved, because otherwise it is pointless to have voice training and all that.

Settings (menu option or cog from the drop down notification area)
Google (2nd from bottom)
Search, assistant and voice
Voice
Voice Match
Then slide 'Unlock with Voice Match' slider to on and follow the prompts
It won't let me toggle that switch. That's the problem.
Ok so I just had this issue and it was bothering me. I went to the phone settings and toggled the "voice to unlock" or whatever off then on again. It asked me for my password and I typed it and clicked ok to the prompt about less secure. Sure as hell it works like perfect now. Phone actually wakes and unlocks and fires up Google whereas before it was just turning on phone but would ask for my password to unlock.
I had to toggle off then on for it to function correctly. Would wake the phone then say it couldn't recognize my voice at first.
I got the phone last week - 2nd hand (Canadian version LYA-L0C)
I CAN NOT start Google assistant while screen is off. The option doesn't exist in Voice Match.
The only option available to access is when the screen is "on" ... Can somebody correct me if I'm wrong?

[APP] SideSqueeze 2.08 - add squeeze gestures to your S10!

What is SideSqueeze?
SideSqueeze is an innovative and unique app that uses the barometric pressure sensor in your device to detect squeezes and screen presses. It is compatible only with Samsung Galaxy devices from 2017 onwards, although some people have reported varying degrees of success with Pixel devices.
What It Does
SideSqueeze gives your S8/S9/S10 series Galaxy the ability to respond to squeezes, double squeezes, triple squeezes, quadruple squeezes, long squeezes, and/or inertial squeezes, as well as force presses on the screen. For example, you can double squeeze your phone to activate Google Assistant...or maybe you'd like to quadruple squeeze to toggle auto-rotation. And now with Tasker integration, you can even create elaborate tasks to do just about anything and trigger them with any type of squeeze! SideSqueeze's new modular GUI allows you to pick and choose what you want to do with ease.
Features (not all available in trial version)
7 detectable squeeze types (single, double, triple, quadruple, long, long double-squeeze, and inertial)
3 detectable press types (single, long, and 2-finger)
Independently selectable criteria allow you to assign multiple actions to any trigger type (if lockscreen open, if homescreen open, if camera open, if S-Pen detached, if within 5-seconds of power on, if the phone is ringing, if in-call, or if screen is off)
New app picker to launch any app of your choosing
Tasker integration to launch any task of your choosing
Quick Settings tile to toggle detection engine
Wide selection of common actions, such as flashlight toggling, status bar toggling, etc
Adjustable pressure thresholds
Calibration assistant to customize SideSqueeze to your device's unique characteristics
Efficient detection algorithm that is designed to be as lightweight and low-power as possible with no significant impact on battery life
Questions?
See the in-app Help section for answers to commonly asked questions.
Where do I get it?
SideSqueeze 2 is now available on the Play store!

Thanks! Also, keep in mind that if you're having problems you can use double-squeeze or triple-squeeze and keep single-squeeze disabled. Hopefully the new calibration stuff will help get it working better on your device.
Hi, this could be a useful app I think, but it didn't work on my s10e.I have calibrated and it read my pressure meters well, but there is no reaction when I squeeze it
Just tried this and it works great! I will be purchasing.
Hey man, super excited for this app. I have been a long time HTC user and the force sense was one of my favorite features. I don't think the app is quite ready for prime time yet though. I set my force pressure and calibration went well, but so far the device has only performed the way it should in 1 out of 10 tests. It also seems to set some kind of delay in between presses and squeezes. Hope you get these things ironed out, this would be really cool if you can get it working properly. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback! If you still have it installed, can you go to the About tab, and tap "Send Report"? That will send me a list of all your SideSqueeze settings/values (nothing identifying). There is always a delay between things because it has to detect a pressure baseline again. Usually this takes 1-2 seconds.

Is there any way of removing the 2 second delay? Its really annoying and makes it hard to work.
Version 2.07 (just released to the store last night) offers better reliability and faster response-time, especially when "Disable baseline verification" is set (checked) on the settings panel (go to the About or Help tab, tap the gear icon on the top-right corner). Also, SideSqueeze is on sale for $1.99 through July 13th!

This is a fantastic app. So many possibilities. I've been testing both squeeze and screen press. I've tried multiple gain, multiple sensitivities, multiple calibrations, but it just never works out to be consistent.
I have them all setup to simply toggle the flashlight for now, andI just can't get them to toggle in a consistent manner. Even though I'm pressing as consistent as possible.
Actually as I'm typing this, I've noticed that while my S10 5G is on AOD, the squeeze sometimes inconsistently works, then stops. And when I press the power button to wake the phone up to the lock screen, the flashlight suddenly turns on or off, like the AOD was blocking the app from working all of a sudden. And then catches up to the last action it was supposed to do.
EG: On AOD, it was intermittently toggling on/off with squeeze, then stopped. So I pressed the power button to go to the lock screen. And as soon as I did this, the flashlight came back on itself, with the "turning flashlight on" message, wirthout me squeezing. Like the buffer of the app had caught up, as it was being blocked in AOD for some reason.
So it looks like something in the ap AOD is being blocked randomly/intermittently.

Thank you, I will look into this.
Nice app. Great idea.
Would it be possible to add opening of edge panel via single squeeze?
I have a tough case that partially covers the screen edges making it difficult to swipe the panel out.
Great app and many thanks for it. I have one question: Is it possible to start voice or screen recording via squeeze in Samsung S10e?
I paid for tasker support in this app, and it cant even do that. Garbage **** app.

SideSqueeze hasn't been updated in a long time, but an update is coming soon. It might fix the issue you are having with Tasker. I'd like to refund you, but you haven't reached out, so I don't know your order number or Play store email address.

I was going to but LUCKY for you and i guess me cuz its a whole process, There was a tasker update, and now app factory is not a steaming pile of **** and works flawlessly. What I did is i used app factory to turn my task into an app. Then used the "third party app" thing to launch the app version of my task. That works flawlessly so for the moment I am placated. LMK if the new update helps though. The whole reason i had to do this is because squeeze detection is not working great, but I understand reading sensor data for false squeezes is nigh impossible so that part im not that mad about, but if you got improvements ill happily take em.

Android 10 Fingerprint on screenoff and AOD

Updated to Android 10 via system update.
Fingerprint is not working in AOD and screen off . is this issue with evryone orelse we haven't checked every detailed features of it.?
Working..
--> Fingerprint unlock is working , after removing all fingers in phone and a reboot and adding a finger and turning on always on in the display section(AOD). and also working on screen on.
Only for the first time
-- parallel space is working after reinstalling
Not Working..
--> Fingerprint is not working on screen off.
Any suggestions and discussion is worth.
Thnx in Advance.
Same problem buddy..
It may be bug.
Any body knows solution then please help.
Same problem here...It´s not working
For me working with aod or screen on. But not working with screen off.
Bro it started working check it out.
Delete the fingerprint and password and restart the phone and then add fingerprint and password
before this, my fingerprint can be use once only after restart phone to unlock all features lol.
after factory reset, fingerprint unlock can be use only if i turn on AOD. if the screen is off and AOD is off, fingerprint scanner is not working to unlock the phone. to make it works, i need to turn on the AOD to use the fingerprint scanner to unlock phone.
is this a new features or bug?
I removed all fingerprint and password. Than reboot and added fingerprint and turned on aod.
It's working with aod and lockscreen but not when screen is off. So i think only way for me is to sacrifice some battery life and keep aod on to get fingerprint working.

I factory reset the phone , scanner worked for some time and after that stopped working and then deleted my fingerprint data and added back it worked for an hour then stopped working.. it is a serious bug.. need immediate fix
Hello guys.
I just bought my Mi A3 and read about this update.
I checked for system updates but it isn't available for me.
My phone is EEA model, 128. Has anyone with EEA Mi A3 received the update?
AOD seems consume too much battery. But you can get fingerprints working without AOD:
1. Enable "Show fingerprint icon when the screen is off" in Fingerprint settings
2. Disable "Always on" and enable "New notifications" in Lock screen display settings
After that you just need to tap display once after screen went off to be able to unlock by fingerprint.
Not ideal, but at least you don't need to use AOD or press Power button.

rom A10 has not been released for the EEA version, in addition, the update in the global rom has been canceled due to failures
I had the same issues as many described here with the fingerprint sensor not working or stopping after a while.
My solution has been to go into recovery (turn off the phone, hold power and volume up key till the Android One screen comes on, let go and when the bot comes on, press power and volume up again once. That should bring u to recovery)
Once in recovery, use the volume down button to go to factory reset, and use power button to select. I did the factory reset a couple of times as I find it helps to reset things properly. Once done, select reboot and set up as usual.
Please note that factory reset erases ALL data, so make a backup.
This solution may or may not work for you, but it has worked for me since last night, and survived through shut offs and reboots.
There is also no need to activate AOD, but the show fingerprint icon option must be activated.
PS. I tried using the factory reset option on the settings menu, but that didn't seem to work for me. Factory reset through recovery did the trick.

no need to enable the always on display. double tap the screen to enable the on-screen fingerprint sensor.

What do you mean by "first time"? I have it working this way since update to A10, it persists after phone restarts as well.
What language/locale do you use? I've read some complaints about stock camera crash in Pro mode and fingerprint issues from users using non-English.

follow this guide to activate your on-screen fingerprint scanner. I dont know why xiaomi has some confusing toggle description.

Hey guys, I just got a new update on my A3, with March security patch.
Fingerprint sensor on lockscreen is working immediately now without AOD on nor having to tap the screen to get the sensor animation to come on.
