Guys Guys!!!
I was just using my gmail account on my device and i was free at the time. I just thought to see what security tabs are for.. i just opened the Privacy tabs of Gmail in My Activity i am shocked what i saw there..
Gmail account is keeping its eye on what we do with our device.
Like if we just click on camera on mobile it records,
If we open whatsapp,Contacts,Instagram, Facebook,UC browser everything is recorded by time,
When we use Google Voice typing or Google Assistant it even record our voice and save in gmail,
Its monetaring everything what we do what we search what our choices hates everything.
I have no worries if its safe in my own Account and never been shared with anyone untill i want.. but just saw so many news in Indian News channels where they say that Facebook had sold user data to some companies..
https://www.theverge.com/2018/3/25/...-cambridge-analytica-full-page-newspapers-ads
Im just worred what if our Gmail account user data information is shared with other peoples ???
Its totally personal because today everyone is using Mobiles as not only just a device to use but we use mobile as our soulmate ??????????
Our home Family Photos, Videos are in mobile.
And its not hidden from Gmail Obviously...!!
Untill now i had asked in my many questions on XDA about Custom Roms whether they are safe to use.. but when i saw My Activity of Gmail Account tab in My Account and when i go through by each tab of My Activity I now more worried about should i use Android or Not. Older Nokia 1100 was more better Mobile Phone to use. It was safe! At least it wasnt recording my each activity ????????????
We are not doing anything wrong but what about our personal privacy???
The day is not so far when same news will come in media like about Facebook has came.....
So is it secure to use Android ?
Or android with Gmail ?
I have disabled the web activity and all other stuff inc traffic. I tend to keep my location off. No doubt that they are keeping track of us. Our privacy is sold amongst various adv companies. Cheers.

Hey Guys
Just joined the android bunch when the wife got me a new Xperia X10 for my b'day/anniversary. Its awesome and i'am loving every bit of it especially the personalization part of it.
However coming from the iPhone I have a few queries and would be great if someone could help me with it. Have searched the forums and haven't really got any useful info of it (mind you i could have terrible searching skill, btw did anyone see my keys??)
I have two mail id's like most people. One is my personal gmail id and the other is my corporate mail id. I have configured them both onto my phone and I'am indeed recieving all mails without a glitch. Unfortunately I don't have an option of sorts to configure my office calendar to sync with the native app. The calendar option does not exist for the second mail option(The option to sync my personal gmail calendar exists and is working fine).
However while using the iphone3g previously I was able to simultaneously use both the calendars (gmail & corporate) and an update on either of the two calendars from my desktop would show on the calendar.
Question1
Is it possible to have a similar system on the android as well. The backend for my corporate mail is provided by gmail and so is the calendar and everything in it. Someone suggested elsewhere that i could share the calendar to my personal mail and i could use it that way. Unfortunately it not enabled for me and the only option for sharing lets my personal account to see if I'm free or engaged at any time. This would be of very limited use to me.
Question 2
Whenever i receive a mail with a calendar invite on the corporate id, the mail appears empty with a small attachment. Using the preview option on the mail app displays text based data that pretty much random stuff overlaid on the meeting name etc(i guess this is the program info or something). Is there anyway if and when i receive an invite i would be able to add them to my calendar or refuse it right-away etc..
These two queries are the biggest of my worries as of now on the otherwise enjoyable experience. I'm terrible sorry for the long post but thought I'd give as much info as possible.
Thanks for your time and help!!
Cheers!!
PS: Some background info, Phone: Xperia X10i, Firmware 2.1-Update1(India), unrooted, baseband 2.1.54. If there is any other app that would help me do the same(Paid or Free), it would be awesome.
Hi there,
I use my phone in a similar way, I have 4 accounts in my gmail app. 3 corporate and 1 personal. If I can remember back to 2.1 (eclair) you can only have 1 gmail account in that app. Then you have to use the mail app for up to 5 more (not sure about moxier mail, I never used it).
Basically what your best doing is rooting the phone to get it up to 2.2 (froyo) that way use have much more control over what sync's from each account. I would recommend tripnraver's froyo. He has a new 1.2.0 coming tonight. You do have to put up with some minor bugs, but the benefits far out weigh the negatives.
A lot also depends on what type of email accounts they are. Either way froyo is way better for your needs.
If you don't wish to dabble with your new present, wait a few months when sony bring out 2.3.4 gingerbread!
I have had a few close shaves, while flashing my phone but approx 10 roms later, I'm pretty sure it's hard to brick it. Worst case restore it back using the sony software.
Hope that helps.

Hello,
Sat here eagerly awaiting my new phone.
I have been googling around for things i may need, like setup google account etc. Does anyone know a descent little getting starting guide or video as there are loads and not sure which ones are even any good.
Also if any of you are setting up your Galaxy S3 and thought "be easier if i'd done that first", id love to know.
Otherwise just wish the parcel company would get a move on
Happy Dayz

[search top 60 andriod apps from techradar] sorry i cannot paste links cuz im fresh here.
me too waiting for my S3, jumping the bandwagon from iphone!
Not official video, but you can check this
It's actually very straight forward. Just follow prompts and select the appropriate options. I am assuming everyone has a gmail account.
This might be a helpfull article to choose which apps you need/want.
Will my contacts, calendar etc get pulled through from my live accounts. only setup the gmail account this morning.
Thanks for the comments
I had a Ipod touch, blackberry, Windows Phone before this. ICS made me think its time to try android and the desire to be able to do stuff like watch videos without conversion, have a HD screen etc.
still waiting ... come on delivery dude
I am not sure whether it will pull your contacts / calendar from your live account (I haven't tried that myself).
You may want to check this: http://blog.connectedhq.com/2011/05...book-with-windows-live-hotmail-one-time-sync/
This has some useful info on how to import-export from Live to Google and vice versa.

Since Android is a Google product it integrates quite beautifully with Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Contacts, so I definitely recommend that you use those services now that you're going to be using Android.
So to be clear, what I recommend is exporting contacts, mail and calendar to Google's respective services.
I don't have any experience with trying to sync Outlook/Live/Exchange with Android, but a quick Google search leads me to believe that it might not be all that simple... Here are some interesting links I found:
http://syncdroid.net/gsyncit
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=outlook+sync&c=apps
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...indows-live-contacts-calendar.html#post834492
Like I said though, I don't have any experience with this, but if you do end up running into trouble when you get your phone and are setting it up, XDA is the best place to look for support and someone will most likely be able to help you...

Go to http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/ and check the bar on the right
Right contacts and calendar was simple, install the hotmail app, turn off the push notifications as you email already goes to mail, tick contacts and calendar and SYNC woo hoooo
Thanks all
off to read some more stuff
Hotmail, Live contacts on Android
The hotmail app pulls in details but doesnt let you edit them in contacts or calendar.
Talking to the local Apple fanboy gave me the clue for how to achieve this, and its simple. Press manual setup and use exchange active sync.
settings as follows:
Email: [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected]
Server Address: m.hotmail.com
SSL: Enabled
Username: [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected]
Password: password
Domain: <blank>
http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-t...d-to-active-sync-email-calendar-and-contacts/
Auto setup uses pop which is why you dont get the contacts and calendar.
The weirdest thing to me... I type in "ducks without feathers" on my work or home pc and that same search shows up on my galaxy s3 a little while later. Im connected to a wireless network on both and signed in to google on all 3. Is this why? Does it work the opposite where things written on the phone show up on the computers? I find this invasive if i want to search something in private but it shows on my work pc? Anyway, just curious whats going on.

because you are signed in on your PC with your mobile Google account. so they save search history to your account...
if you think this is invasive, the. I think you should logout of Google for when your searching up these things you for some reason don't want recorded.
on a personal note, I would say delete your accounts and toss your phone and stop using the internet if you think linking search history that is only viewable to you is invasive. do you know how many things are tracking you web wide, not just search history on Google?
"Ducks without feathers?" :what::what::what::what:
Like stated above, search history is saved onto your Google account and synced. You can disable it in settings, though.

I personally wouldnt use a personal Google account at work honestly. less trouble period. a better solution I think would be to use a second account for business use only. limits potential vectors that something can obtain your PW, personal info and such.
Under your account sync options sync browser is one of the available selections.
Google History
I am having the same problem however, I am not searching FROM my PC , I am searching from my phone and it shows up on my work PC. I am not even logged in to my Google account at work! How is this happening?
It's not "Sync Browser"

That doesn't stop it.
I've had "Sync Browser" disabled since shortly after I got the phone, because "Sync Browser" is a battery killer. (Before I disabled "Sync Browser," Settings->Battery showed 33% used by "Browser" when I'd done no web browsing on the phone at all; after I disabled "Sync Browser" that went to zero.) But even though "Sync Browser" is disabled on my phone, my google searches on the computer (in any web browser) are still showing up on the phone, almost immediately.
I also tried disabling "Sync Google+," "Sync Google+ Photos," and "Sync Google+ Uploads," but that didn't stop it, either.
I also tried disabling "Sync App Data," but that didn't stop it, either.
The only other Sync settings I have enabled are:
Sync Calendar
Sync Contacts
Sync Gmail
Sync People details
This is very annoying!

SO RIDICULOUS! I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT I'M WATCHING UNFOLD???? YET AS YOU SEE BY SOME OF THE ANSWERS IT DOESN'T SEEM TO ANGER PEOPLE WHOM SHOULD BE ANSWERING THE CONCERNS YOU ARE REQUESTING. DEVELOPERS ON THIS VERY WEBSITE TELLING YOU TO DELETE YOUR GOOGLE ACCOUNT. ITS SCARY WHAT GOOGLE IS CAPABLE OF DOING, WE ALL HAVE PICTURES, DOCUMENTS, PRIVATE THINGS WE'D BE MORTIFIED WE DIDN'T KNOW WERE SHARED ALREADY. I MYSELF HAVE TROUBLE SEEING, I'LL TAKE A PICTURE OF SOMETHING I'M READING TO ZOOM IN, OR REFER TO INSTRUCTIONS INSTEAD OF 10 WINDOWS OPEN AT THE SAME TIME. I ASKED GOOGLE PLUS A QUESTION, AND IT SHOWS UP IF I GOOGLE MY OWN NAME, ABOUT GAME OF THRONES!!!! I SAY OKAY GOOGLE CONSTANTLY TO NOT HAVE TO TYPE ON MY PHONE. ONE SUGGESTION IS TO SEARCH "INCOGNITO" ITS RIGHT IN THE TOOLS ON GOOGLES MENU. GO TO (website blocked me from providing you the site) sign in there and look at everything one by one. it shows where you've been, where you've signed in, you can change all kinds of settings through that. Most of all fear google plus the most! Because they auto upload without permission your cameras pictures and aren't private by default. It used to be Picasa I think Google bought it. So much more,,,, For now start those suggestions

This is from an article on CNET, sorry I can't post any links yet since I'm new to this forum.
"Before you begin setting up your Android device, you're going to need a Google account, be it a Google Apps or Gmail account. It's not required on an Android device, but if you're going to take advantage of all that Android has to offer, you'll want to sign up for one. You'll be asked to log in to this account during the initial setup process on your Android device. If you skipped this step and want to go back and add the account later, you can go to Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Google. This same process can be followed to add another type of account (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.).
Contacts, Calendar and Mail
If your contacts are syncing from your iPhone to Gmail, transferring them will be a breeze. Just make sure you sign into your Android device using the same account you use on your iPhone and make sure Contact sync is enabled. For other accounts, such as Yahoo, you'll need to export your contact list from the Web site for the account. You can typically find this in settings for your account. Or, some carriers offer a free app in the App Store built specifically for transferring your contacts. Verizon and AT&T have apps that do just that.
Should you be an iCloud user, you can still use your iCloud account to sync calendars and contacts to your Android device, but you're going to have to purchase a couple of apps. I have talked about one of the apps before, called SmoothSync for Cloud Contacts; the calendar app is called SmoothSync for Cloud Calendar. These two apps will add your iCloud account to your Android device, allowing you to keep your iPad or Mac in sync with your Android device. This comes in especially useful if you're sharing an iCloud calendar with a family member and don't want to force him or her to switch to Google Calendar just because you've switched to Android.
Music
Perhaps one of the quickest steps of moving from an iPhone to Android is getting your music collection on your new device. What you'll need to do is download the Google Music app to your computer and point it at your music collection. Google will then store your music in the cloud, up to 20,000 songs for free, and let you stream it on your shiny new Android device via the Music app. Anytime you add new music to your catalog, the Music Manager app will automatically upload and sync it to your Android device for you.
If using Google Music isn't possible for you, you can drag-and-drop the music on your computer into the Music folder (create one if it's not present) on your Android device via a USB connection. Mac users will have to use the Android File Transfer app to access their device's storage.
Photos
With the introduction of iCloud and its Photo Stream service, getting photos off your iOS device is easy. Using iPhoto on a Mac, or installing the iCloud Control Panel on a Windows machine you can conveniently grab photos from your iPhone and then sync them to your Android device via USB or through your Google+ account.
For videos on your iPhone, you'll need to use iTunes, iPhoto, or a file explorer to grab the files. Using a program like iExplorer, Image Capture (found in the Utilities folder on a Mac), or the native Windows File Explorer taking the files off your device is simple.
Going forward, you can sync photos from your Android device to your computer via USB, or by installing the Dropbox app and enabling its Camera Upload feature. Rather not mess with a file explorer? The Dropbox Camera Upload feature is another method to get photos off of your iPhone and on to your computer."
Hi- Some of this information may have been posted by "Moreno2.0" but I wanted to give you some info very concisely.
1. From what I can tell, if you have already been syncing your contacts with google, you're set. If not, you may have to export your contacts and then import them into gmail (should be a relatively easy procedure.) I found the following site that may assist you with this and your music. http://goo.gl/OsGcPe
2. Google Play Music SHOULD import all your album art, etc.
3. The biggest thing about Android is the fact that if you want your phone to do something, most likely you can. You chose the #1 Android development related forum to come to, and you should definitely stay active around here (at least checking out what projects people are working on etc.) to help your experience a lot. A ton of the apps I use daily I probably wouldn't have heard about until I came here. Not everything makes Editor's Choice on Google Play.
4. I don't see how you would lose your features if you use an official update method. Most of the time you will update via OTA (over the air) and your phone will notify you that you have an update ready to install. I'm not familiar with your device's specifics, but if you check out its related forum- you may find that you can Odin (Samsung Tool) update to 4.4 or another software release in the future.
Welcome to Android, and please feel free to personally message me if you have any questions. I'm not a developer (yet, working on that), but I know quite a bit. I'm an iOS convert myself.
-Melamunna
I'm looking for an email app that can connect to gmail and yahoo mail without necessarily connecting through accounts that are on the device.
An app that is independent of the information that is on the device. The same way an app from a website connects to your account on their site without having to go through the accounts set up on device (if i understand it right.)
Is there such a thing?

Are these options safe? Well what i mean exactly is, is my personal info and privacy kept from being sold and what not? Cloudmagic does use cloud services and i assume outlook works in a similar fashion. If these email apps do the same thing that the native gmail app will do with any information i summon use and keep on my phone anyway, then it's kinda back to square one. I'm using moboclean to keep as much info on my phone (mainly my contact list) away from these communicative apps. Since i have a couple of alternate email accounts, i would like to use a particularly different app for one of my accounts and not get it mixed up with all the info sharing the other apps do.
Now if there is something that i've misunderstood on how some of these apps work, let me know. There is still some learning i need to do, but i really don't like the idea that some of these apps have inevitable permissions to access account details stored by other apps on my device and what not.
I just need the email app to work literary like a browser, like how i would access gmail through google's mail.google.com web page, but instead, the apps will use my credentials to login to my inbox automatically and not tie my device to my account in anyway, nor tie my account to my device. And google or yahoo or whatever, will think i'm accessing my email through a normal desktop computer.
Maybe i'm asking too much in our "out of control" world of today.
But thank you. I do appreciate all your help.
