Does anyone think we will see root on carrier variants? - LG V30 Questions & Answers

So saw the s8 got bootstrap so does anyone think we will ever see root on verizon, att, or sprint?

There's already discussion threads going about root on carrier variants, isn't there?

US Cellular GS3

I am thinking about switching to US Cellular and getting the GS3 from them. Is the GS3 rooted yet? Is the bootloader locked or unlocker?

I would love to know this as well, as I am ditching VZW for this phone on USCC. Better signal, customer service where I live. I hope there is going to be support for this version of the phone.
Indeed, U.S. Cellular is king in Wisconsin!
I'm going to dump Sprint for an S3 on US Cellular. I too am interested whether I will be able to root.
I saw on TeamUSCellular.com that there may be a $100 billing credit starting on July 16th.
I have the USCC GS3 (SCH-R530) and rooted it via the method used for Sprint phones. Works great!

I have US Cellular and i have the GS3 phone. I also wanted to root my phone but didn't know which version to use. Did any of you got a custom rom installed on the US Cellular phone yet. I would imagine that you could use any rom for that i guess. Any experiances with that anyone ???

We need carrier specific forums like the s8 and all previous Galaxies. I Wonder why no carrier specific forums for s9? It would for sure help with stuff being posted in the right places. I heard there was an ATT RC6, Where might one find that? Also need a U1 Unlocked section as well. At Least separate the exynos from the snapdragon since NOTHING is interchangeable. Two completely different phones.

I can see having forums for different model numbers, but from what I understand, all of the US carrier versions have the same model number, which means you can interchange the firmware. For instance, I'm running the ARC6 (TMobile) on my ATT device.
While I've had no luck on all of the other firmware out there, whether it's a Google Pay or Samsung Pay issue (I need both), it's nice to have options.

Yes, but you will be stuck on v2 bootloader. Once you go to ARC6, there is no going back.

Can i bootloop on purpose but fix it later?

Hello, i have an s6 edge which have become laggy and the battery drains so fast. I wanna get a new phone with my money but my parents don't want me to spend my own money. If i bootloop it on purpose they will see that it does not longer work and they will let me get a new phone. But i do wanna keep it as a second device. So, how can i bootloop it but have a fixable bootloop?
Root phone first.unlock bootloader in dev settings then install a suitable twrp for your phone.link your phone to your PC to be recognized, install proper drivers for that in PC.then enter in twrp.format phone and install a non suitable (for other phones)custom rom.then you press power after flashing wrong Rom and you will have a wonderful bootloop.be prepared to have a custom Rom that really works for your phone for flashing properly after all this scam..good luck.(enter in your XDA section for your device).hope will work this way

You sure you won't be forced to trade it in to get the new phone?

OK. That's why my sister wouldn't get a new phone, because for the subsidized price the carrier made her trade in her old phone.

Locked carriers in the United states are now starting to download android 10 now. VZW

see this thread and site

More like carrier versions have started receiving the update, whether the carrier versions are sim locked or unlocked has nothing to do with it.
And yes, US unlocked version still hasn't seen the update as of yet.

att now getting it. so add that to vzw then unlocked follows after tmo and sprint locked.
Forgive my ignorance I have been team Pixel for many years. I am using unlocked phone on Verizon. So I am waiting for unlocked update correct? The carrier is not relevant

Yes you will get when Samsung pushes the update for US unlocked model. Which carrier you use the US unlocked model is irrelevant.
Received on Snapdragon AT&T last night. Not seeing much of a difference though.

Thank you, it's so weird being on Pie when I was on Android 10 for so long with their development preview.
