Alternative to K-9? - Planet Gemini PDA Themes, Apps, and Mods

I'm still waiting on my Gemini - and I'm a long time fan /user of Aquamail.
K-9 is supposedly enhanced to work on Gemini in landscape and with keyboard. Can anyone confirm if Aquamail works well with the Gemini please? (I'd hate to have to swap email clients!)

I tried the free version. Looks nice. I tested with my Office 365 account.

Problematic Apps

As many of you know, my phone(s) have been riddled with the following main problems:
Random Reboots
Clock Freezing
Keyboard Lockups
Therefore, I decided to get a 3rd replacement but I had to remove joker's Skinny ROM and return my phone to stock before doing so. I'm traveling this week and the Sprint stores in this area are lets say "less than accommodating" so I decided to just keep my phone until I get back to my home store.
To my surprise, my phone has not experienced any of the above problems for two days now. This lets me know those problems were probably caused by an app or combination of apps. My phone is stock, locked, and rooted.
Here are the apps I have installed on my phone right now and have no problems so far:
Brightest Flashlight Free
World of Goo Demo
AccuWeather for Android
Alarm Clock Plus
Astro
Battery Circle
Billy Graham
Titanium Backup
Deja Office
Smart Keyboard Pro
English for Smart Keyboard Pro
Enhanced Email
GTY
No Lock
Pandora
Reboot Logger
Root Check Basic
System Recovery (CMW)
Below are the other apps I usually have installed on my phone when my phone is not working properly. Please let me know if there are any known issues with any of them. Which app(s) do you think is the source of the problems my phone was experiencing previously?
Adaway

Yeah, I didn't know I had that many apps until I typed them all.
Best advice anybody can give with that big of an app list is to phase it in slowly in small batches and give it a day or two between batches to see when the problem starts surfacing again. To be honest most likely it's some combination of apps interfering with each other rather than a single problematic app but either is possible.
Whenever you experience weird freezing/slowing/power cycling you always want to try to go to stock with no apps first to see if the problem persists. These sort of issues are almost always software-related in my experience. When people replace their phones they always immediately dump everything back on to the replacement phone as quickly as possible and then wonder why they have the same issue.
Hope this helps you nail down the problem.
Yes, I plan to install 3 apps every other day in order of importance to narrow in on the problematic app. Hopefully, i'll find it.
It looks like my problems may be caused by Go Launcher, Smart Keyboard Pro, or Enhanced Email.
I'm leaning towards Smart Keyboard Pro or Enhanced Email as the culprit since many MoPho users seem to use Go Launcher with no problems.
Anyone using Smart Keyboard Pro or Enhanced Email with no problems?
The stock file explorer was the culprit for my reboots. When moving files from internal to SD (or v.versa) it reboot every single time if the file was bigger than 10mb.
I removed go launcher (hated to). It was causing problems when I used the mobile dock which has it's own launcher. The phone would become nearly unresponsive after docking it. Removing go launcher solved the problem

Thanks, that's good to know! So maybe the problem is with Enhanced Email.
Is anyone using that app successfully?
The problem is that you have too many apps installed!

I've been running my phone without these three apps and with ZERO problems for over a week. I installed Enhanced Email this morning and have already received two random reboots. If I uninstall EE and my reboots go away, then it looks like EE is the problem (in my case) or maybe it is conflicting with another app. Since I don't have the time nor patience to figure out which app it may be conflicting with, I'll just be finding a new email client.

Over 230 Apps, Who Downloaded the whole damn Market now? Lol, and I wonder why my keyboard keeps locking up... The phone freezes, but seriously, most of these apps are essential for me... My phone works great with these apps installed, then after 20-30 days I have freezing, keyboard locking up, etc. then I go back to a factory reset and start all over, any suggestions (other than to stop installing/using/keeping so many apps?)
---------- Post added at 10:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:38 PM ----------
I use Go Launcher & Smart Keyboard Pro All of the time.
But, I have ALWAYS suspected Go Launcher Ex & other Go Products to be the culprits...
---------- Post added at 10:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:42 PM ----------
I LOVE Go Launcher Ex, and Smart Keyboard Pro. I will stop using them and see if that solves the problem... I doubt the issue is the number of apps on my device, after all, this is a high-end device that can handle it...
For me, it looks like Smart Keyboard Pro was causing the keyboard lockups and Enhanced Email was causing the random reboots. No more problems since I uninstalled both of them. I replaced SMP with A.I.Type keyboard and I'll stick with the stock email client for awhile. If I can go another week with no issues, I'll try Go Launcher again to see if any problems resurface. I really like Go Launcher too!
P.S. I'm mourning the mandatory removal of Enhanced Email. It blows away all of the other email clients out there. Darn!!!

I hate not being able to use Smart Keyboard Pro!!! I liked Enhanced Email, but it was causing too many issues for me... I worked VERY VERY closely with the developer of A.I. Type Keyboard, to create it in its beta stages!!! Great Keyboard!!!
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE GO LAUNCHER / GO LAUNCHER EX/ ANY GO PRODUCTS!!! They are your culprits, I am 95% Sure...
Yes, A.I.Type is awesome! Thanks for the role you played!
Go Launcher is not the culprit in my case because I haven't had it installed in about 2 months and the problems prevailed without it.
@deedscreen: Since you too abandoned EE, which email client are you using now?

I am using Gmail right now... but eventually I will use something better... what apps do you share in common with my list that I posted? Maybe you and I can get to the bottom of this!

I tried the titanium backup restore route and got further. It's still looking for updating security settings and then force closes. I'm really looking for how to get THIS app to work. B&N states their email app doesn't support exchange and to use touchdown. Touchdown does work and works well. I just don't like paying for something if I already have something that should function. I have 29 days left on my touchdown demo to get the native google app running.
Working with Address Book
Using shafty023's modified Email app, which fools exchange I got my company exchange server talking to the Nook Tablet. I found that Go Contacts EX works well for the contact list. Several others I tried force closed.
Thanks, shafty023

Let me add that if anyone knows of any method (short of uninstalling everything and reinstalling 1 by 1 to see what happens) to check for causes of lag, I'm interested to hear it
thanks

I'm convinced the Gear S was an excellent purchase for me

After 2 days I can say with conviction that the Gear S is a worthy investment for the money.
A little research and I've got it all set up to my needs.
- Getting Hangouts, Facebook Messenger, & text messages, all with the ability to reply
- Getting my Google Now alerts (traffic, weather, etc)
- Streaming Milk Music as standalone
- Opera Mini browser enables me to check/reply/send Gmail, browse/interact with Facebook, Google Search, etc
- Enabled continuous swipe input in the stock keyboard in settings
- Changed my voice-wake to "OK Google"
- Battery easily lasts me almost 2 days entire day with moderate use
I can't think of a single thing that I am disappointed about. And that's saying a lot as I had high expectations.
If you're on the edge of buying this, I say go all in. Speaking of which, I'm on the Edge as well. T-Mobile
I just got mine today and so far I'm loving it. I only wish you had a manual to show me how to set mine up like that especially replying to Facebook messages.

My question is...IF the app shows in Gear manager and in Extender, why is extender needed if GM says it will notify?

Glad I could help. That's what we're all on XDA for!
I think the GS is the most amazing piece of personal tech I have ever come across (IT technician by profession).
I used to carry two phones, one personal and one work, which was a pain. Now I carry a Note 4 as my personal and the GS as my work phone. I run the GS in remote connect mode during the week so it acts as a stand alone number, then on weekends I run it in Bluetooth mode as a companion to my Note (I don't take work calls on the w/e). My exchange account syncs mail, contacts, appointments, etc across all my devices. Emailing, appointments, adding contacts, etc I do on my Note which syncs with the GS. Business calls/msgs I take on the GS and private calls/msgs on the Note.
This solves all my problems and works fantastically.
The GS is incredibly versatile and that may be it's biggest fault - too complex for the average user. Just read many of the posts on here and it is clear that people have no idea about it's features and functionality.
I feel same as you guys. I enjoy my phone everyday. Makes life easier for me. Only issue I am having is that if I get a text message and I go to reply the keyboard won't pop up. I have to go and close all apps thrn go back into messaging app then it works. Any ideas?

I'm having some issue getting what looks like a duplicate for email alerts.
GNE Notifications in Gear Manager = ON
Email Notifications in GNE = ON
Email Notifications in Gear Manager = OFF
I get the email alert 1x with the reply arrows, then again with an "open on Android" at the bottom. Not sure where I'm failing the process. Very excited to get this sussed, this may keep the Gear S in my hands, was getting pretty discouraged!
Thanks for the help.

Congrats to the Gear S and the S6 Edge. May your battery last a long time!
I found Opera in the Samsung app store, that I accessed through Gear Manager. From within Gear Mgr, once connected to your Gear S, you can install all the gear apps you want (not that there are that many). Hope this helps.

I just checked and you are right: Samsung seem to have removed the app, and I can't even find the other browser I saw in there.
It used to be one of the very first apps popping up in the store.
I'm sure we can share the Opera file with you, I just have no clue how it's done.
Damn--looks like I missed it by a matter of DAYS...
Well, at least I know I'm not crazy now. Thanks guys!
Does anyone know a way of manual installing the app into the watch?

what Samsung apps to keep

Which are some of the default Samsung apps you all use? This is my first Samsung phone (I got unlocked). I do not see any option to remove the stock email , browser , gallery and other apps...
I think I will keep Samsung Pay.
All of them. Just disable the ones you can disable and leave the rest as is because all the apps people use to disable the stock apps cause more drainage on battery and less sot. I've tried and tested this **** yet every few months when a new phone is announced these threads are crawling with people who are asking which apps to disable using package disabler or bk disabler etc etc.
The moment you disable system aka Samsung apps you're wasting more battery for some reason. My theory is that those apps try to start over & over again in the background due to them being disabled and that's what affects the battery life negatively.

Samsung internet app is awesome, I never use chrome anymore, adblock works great on it as well. I also prefer Samsung email app, because it skins with the themes and I like the format it uses better than Gmail app. Samsung Pay works good as well.
As time goes by I find myself trying more to use the Samsung apps because they have really improved them since s7e and Note5 came out.

My only grudge is that if I enable Samsung pay, it enables cloud and all.... Which is too mich. I already have my contacts and calendar synced with google.
I forgot, I love Samsung calendar also, and I wasn't too worried about the Samsung cloud. Yet I have been trying to get away from Google for a bit. It's almost impossible, but I see what you are saying.

Supposedly yes (there are quite a few examples in the web), but no matter what I did, I never got it to work out. It's one of the reasons why I ended up using OWM for Outlook Email OWA (in the play store) for my work emails since it uses Outlook Web App instead of Exchange ActiveSync. I use either the Samsung Email or Gmail for my regular personal email to keep them separate.
TS out
Thanks for the intel on the samsung app brotha TS... :good:
