I have a Motorola Moto Pure (XT-1575) which is rooted. I performed the update from Marshmallow to Nougat using the steps provided by a development post here on XDA. I have no problems with the operation of the phone under Nougat. The annoying artifact I do have is this constant nagging from the Motorola generated message to update my phone. Since the phone is rooted I cannot use the generic Motorola update anyway.
Does any one know how to kill this pest?

My Moto X wont find the Lollipop update, it keeps saying my phone's software is up to date, Yet it is currently running on 4.4.4 and I KNOW for a fact that this phone is compatible with Lollipop.
I have tried clearing the data in Google System Framework, and tried numerous times, and still no update.
I want to download this update manually, because I don't see any other options. So I have been learning how to do this using SDK tools. But no one has made an actual download for my system version and phone model! My system version is: 21.31.54.victara_tmo
Its running on Metro Pcs, originally a T-mobile phone. Called both companies and Motorola and no. one. is. helping
How do I manually update this phone!!!!
I followed the instructions here to sim-unlock my Verizon XT1528 and am now using it on Consumer Cellular. I have disabled most of the built-in verizon and moto apps, however it seems that the OTA updater has already downloaded a system update, as it keeps repeatedly prompting me to install the update.
Will installing the update cause any issues with my current service? Will it need to be re-unlocked? Or will it continue working the way it is after the update has been installed? Or will the "other improvements" make it useless to me.
The current software version is 23.11.17.survia_verizon.verizon.en.US.vzw, build # LPI23.29-17, android version 5.1 (screenshot)
The new software version it wants to install is 23.16.5.en.US. (and it really wants to install it!).
Part of the reason I'm concerned is that according to the page on their website, "This update brings Androidâ„¢ 5.1 Lollipop to your phone along with other improvements", however the phone already has 5.1 on it.
To be clear, I am talking about the verizon XT1528 Moto E 2nd Generation with the locked bootloader--it is not possible to root it or install another ROM.
Lastly, if updating will lock me out of using Consumer Cellular on it, is there any way to remove the update and/or prevent the prompt from showing up again.
@StanSt
For what it worth this is what mine is running. I'm on AT&T though. I don't know if that would make any difference or not.
Worked Fine

Note that the original post was inquiring about a previous update.
There is an update in the past couple of days or so (late April - early May 2016) that brings it up to 23.201.2 etc etc , build LPIS 23.29-17.5.-2
Moto says changes are "Includes the updates of Android security patches until April 1st 2016."
GSM still works after this latest May update.
I am quite new to this so please be patient.
I flashed my unlocked (previous Vodafone) LG G5 with the official OPEN firmware a week ago. Since then I have had a notification on LG BRIDGE to tell me that a new update (H85020a) is available but whenever I tried to complete the update, I get an error to say the update cannot be downloaded. I have tinkered with LGUP before so downloaded and tried flashing but came to the Error 0x2000 every time. The update isn't available whenever I check for OTA.
My questions are: even though I have the official OPEN firmware now, are my updates still dependent on the previous carrier's release?
Have I messed up the update process somehow by flashing in the first place? Making LG BRIDGE unable to complete the update?
Any solutions for the LGUP error code out there?
I have the same problem with LG Bridge. I got the official EE OTA update today.
Hopefully Vodafone won't be far behind if you go back to that.
However, if you've flashed an open firmware you should get update directly from LG and they'll be faster than carrier pushed ones.

I got a new S9+ for my wife who does NOT want a rooted phone and all that that entails.
I was active in rooting many years ago, but have not strayed from the straight and narrow for some time.
I have a new unlocked SMG965U (not bought from Verizon) recently activated. It is Android 8.0.0, firmware .....BRK1 (I don't have the phone in front of me at the moment), last (and only) security patch dated Nov 1, 2018. I have noted from Verizon's web site they have moved up to pie, and have had quite a few security updates since that time. Looking for updates on the phone or through Smart Switch tells me the phone is up to date. There's a Verizon-Samsung utility that runs on PC for updating software that give an error message to the effect of "Firmware on phone does not support updating".
So, could someone point me in the right direction to determine, first, if it's possible to update the phone without rooting with stock firmware, and which guide I should use? Does Odin require a rooted phone, or is it simply a matter of me locating the proper update and following Odin directions?
Thanks
Odin does not require root and yes just need the correct update Sam mobile has all the latest files you need to use odin I would go there for what you need
I recently bought a 1 year old XT1941-4 which had already been rooted with Magisk on Android Pie with the November PPKS29.68-16-36-11 security patch already installed (RETGB). Main reason was I wanted a rooted phone and did not want to have to mess with doing it myself. Phone is rooted perfectly and no issues. However, I started getting notifications that a new OTA is available for December. Initially I disabled these notifications and now I am getting a full screen nag about them and that the software update is unsuccessful. I decided to try the temp uninstall of Magisk procedure to allow the OTA to complete but when I hit restore images I get 'Back up does not exist'.
I thought one of the advantages of Magisk was that it could be temp installed to allow OTAs to complete. I see that mirrors.lolinet.com has the RETGB Dec update PPKS29.68-16-36-13. Can I use this someway to sort the problem out? I am a complete noob about this and have read several threads to find a solution but still not sure what direction to go. Can anyone explain to me step by step what I need to do?
