Ok since I got my note 8 I have some random issue. I reply to a message say to person A that person gets it and another person B gets the same reply even though it not a group message. Only way it happens if I was talking to person B and i deleted the chat. All a sudden I get a reply asking why I texted them. It's so random and happened about 4 times in four months. The person(s) B have TMobile and another has Verizon . I have since owning this phone factory reset 3 times and updated to Oreo so it might be a network issue. I am weirded out and Google is no help.

Stock one no mods and Gboard keyboard as primary.
Sounds like it may be a delay with the messaging APN, did you try and reset your network settings in the device; if that doesn't work I would just call for a new device; since you have already sent reset 4 times. I had an issue with Oreo when I first installed it with people not receiving messages. I did a system reset, then a network reset and have not had anymore issues since

I will give that a shot with reseting the network , but it will be hard to duplicate this issue and I am sure they will tell me to do a factory reset etc.
Related
when texting a message the call back number that is recieved on the other persons phone is a long string of numbers and is not showing up as my original phone number and when the person replies back they have to text me from my original number and cannot reply back to the number that is showing up
ANYONE else having this problem???????
Same problem here in Orlando, FL!!
its the sim card number that is showing up on the text lol I THINK atleast thats what verizon texh support said
wow that would be a hackers dream number i would suppose
oh damn!
I'll report as soon as I get mine.
Don't think I'm having that problem, but go into your text message settings and try changing your call-back number in there.

Verizon tech said it has been reported a few times but they said they would get back to me on this issue within the hour lol ill hold my breath
and my service is in middle tennessee

Thats bs because its happening to me to Verizon users, both blackberry verizon users so far.
the number that shows up on the other person phone on my text matches my IMSI number
Ok they told me a temporary fix
Delete cache and cookies from browser take battery out for 10 seconds
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I fixed this (temporarily) by unchecking "Send callback number" under SMS settings.
It was doing it even sending texts to other Verizon users.
I fixed mine just by simply rebooting the phone
Mine was doing this last night.
i think a simple reboot fixes it temp. but a verizon tech told me they are collecting data because they are fixing to push out a patch for it and a few other problems

same here, 1 reboot fixed it
No issues when my son texts me from his TB. Currently on a Fascinate for another hour.
Had issue unchecked the call back number battery pull and all is good..
Reboot solved the problem for me but I don't know if that is a permanent solution. I suspect that some people may have this problem and not even know about it. Unless you call and say, "Hey, I didn't hear back from you after I sent that text," you won't know they thought you had gotten their reply. This has happened to me both at the beginning as well as in the middle of a conversation. I've had the phone for 3 days, and the problem has occurred sporadically each day. I would be interested to hear if anybody has had the issue recur after a reboot or similar fix appeared to solve the problem.
All texts I send appear to arrive at their destination, with only some having the ID number instead of my phone number. It's the replies to those texts that sometimes arrive and sometimes don't.
happen to me the first day I got the phone...called verizon and they fixed the problem in 5 mintues...I powered down my phone and they fixed out on there end.
Randomly this evening, my phone has decided that it no longer wants to send any MMS messages. I can send SMS messages just fine, but MMS messages do not go through. They sit for a while, and then it just says that the text message cannot be sent.
Anyone have any suggestions that don't involve factory resetting?

You have 2 options.
1)do master reset and retest it.
2) call your cell carrier.
I had a similar problem a few nights ago. All I had to do was reboot it.
That's all I need to do for a few random glitches.

Do you have data disabled? I noticed when data is disabled, mms do not go through..
Sent from my XT910 using Tapatalk
No, data was enabled. I was able to browse the internet and such, so I don't think it was a connectivity problem. But it's fixed now, so I guess it really doesn't matter.

Okay. When I said it was fixed that was actually a lie. It's started doing it again. I have no idea what caused it, but it will sometimes work and sometimes not. Any ideas anyone?

Will it be the APN settings problems?
In some country you have to set your mms APN manual
Mine does the same thing. A restart is only a temporary fix because it has done it again a day later or so. I have not found anything to fix it yet.
I am on 4g. Not on wifi. unlimited messages.

Try this on dialpad
*#*#4636#*#*
Wacth phone services
Then tap second right update buttom
It must be filled with Service Center Number, for sms/mms data. If you get 'update error', you may have a bug in system that prevents it from correctly setup of older sim cards (mostly cutted ones), if so, buy a new micro sim. It's cheap and solves a lot of small problems
Thanks, and if helps any way, share the learnin'

I tried this but every time I entered the code nothing popped up. But I think I've figured it out. It appears to only happen when I'm connected to a WiFi network. So I guess I just have to disconnect from WiFi if I want to send an MMS message.

Well, it'd boring this way. Try Apn Droid Pro on G play, it will keep mms on

I had the same issue, tried a number of things to fix it. Called Verizon and apparently it's a known issue that they expect to be fixed with the upcoming GB update. Other than that the only way I was able to workaround was installing Go SMS Pro, which sent MMS messages fine.
I figured out what the problem is! It stems back to the problem the Razr has with switching between 3G and 4G. In my house, I have to use WiFi because I live on the edge of a 4G service area. I get maybe one bar of 4G service, which without WiFi, pretty much refuses to do anything having to do with data. Apparently, even though WiFi is enabled, the MMS messages are NOT being transmitted over WiFi. So instead, it attempts to send them over 4G cellular data and fails because of the poor reception in my house. Switching the phone from CDMA/LTE to CDMA only before sending the messages (my signal reception jumps to 4 bars) allows it to send without failing.

Since the ICS upgrade, my stock unrooted E3D is receiving texts twice. It happens in stock messaging, Handcent, and Go SMS...it's weird. Texts I send aren't received by others twice, but any text sent to me, I get twice. In whatever messaging app I'm using. I was wondering if anyone had seen this?
Are you using an Airave in your house?

No. I have great signal...
Hmmm, well since you are unrooted, you can try a factory reset, that will clear up any bugs if it's a software glitch. I would also call Sprint first, and have them refresh or reprogram the phone.
Before doing that factory reset try ##72786# followed by your msl code. Might save you the trouble of having to restore everything back..
im leaning toward network issue as well since its happening on multiple sms apps..
Thanks guys...Looks like it might have been a network issue...it seems to have fixed itself.
Anyone able to get enhanced messaging to work yet? If you are using Messages (Google Messenger) it is listed under advanced but it never completes.
It worked great on my Note 4. I like the ability to text over wifi.

Yes, it's working for me on my Sprint Galaxy S8 +. I did have trouble were it wouldn't work right away, had to wait like 24-48 hours after I activated the phone on my line for the system to provision it or whatever. Just keep trying and eventually it should complete and go through.
I use Android Messaging because the Samsung app supposed to have RCS and play nice with Android messages but when Ive sent messages from the Samsung app it acts like I dont have RCS at all
Doesn't work
I have had my phone for a few weeks but it still doesn't work. Every time I try it, it tells me Excuse the wait... Messages will let you know when this step is complete but it never completes.
Strange I was able to enable it on my wifes S8+ but mine will not enable. Tried clearing cache and uninstall and reinstall. Anyone else had this issue?
I chatted with TEP and Sprint, they sent me a new sim card and that didn't resolve it. I factory reset the phone twice and that didn't resolve it. I called Sprint and Sprint said to call Samsung.
Here is the definitive answer from Samsung "It is being rolled out in batches and certain versions of the phone have not received that update."

I wonder if taking the phone to a best buy that has a Samsung experience store if they can add it.
It will go thru after Day or 2 I had issues but it resolved its self
Anyone else experiencing this?
Had the phone about 5 weeks. Reside in Canada, its a Version C unit.
Experiencing delayed receipt of texts in group chats and single texts. Using android messenger after a full reset w Textra as previous messaging app. Settings left stock, initially after reset worked fine and boom all of a sudden receiving mms and texts as old as 4 days ago in group chats. Getting to point that considering ditching device. Spoke w carrier they show no issue on their end. Issue seems to be xross plaatform w iphone users. I dont want an S22 and only option is a Pixel 7. I bought ZF9 for size, everything else i like but this is too much
Are you using RCS?

NO as I far as I can tell I am not as I am outside US, being in Canada on Virgin/Bell network. Is there a way I can look or turn off this feature as I am using the default android messenging app
I'm in Toronto on bell and have the ZF9.
All text are working fine.
To check RCS, open the message app, go to settings, chat features. Should show connected or maybe trying to connect.
Try deleting data/cache for both the message app and carrier services. Then re enable RCS.

Thanks going to try this as I did find settings and turned of RCS features. I have RCS chat features turned off currently. I have deleted data/cache now for both messaging app and carrier services, will pull sim and turn off device , reinsert sim and restart. Wondering if I should re-enable RCS chat features or run without first to see if issue continues before re-enabling
Update: even following the above and having RCS disabled since restart, reinsert of sim and clearing of data/cache on carrier services and google messenging app w/o messenging app connected to my google account I am receiving delayed texts in a group chat from iphone sender. I am beginning to wonder if clearing cash on their end may resolve. My Virgin carrier says everything seems fine on their end even though they don't support this device. I guess I may have to wait a period of time to see if this resolves as I am unsure what I can do that is left. I have already factory reset the device as well. Any additional comments are welcomed
