Hello everyone,
I have an issue with my camera as it doesn't focus after 25cm. Before I ask for your help I would like to mention that I used many camera apps and I have change many roms including Miui 9, Oreo 8.1, lineage[/B][/B] etc. At last I ask for gearbest's help (where I buy my le max 2 x829) if there is anything I can do in order to fix it. The only answer I receive is that my device doesn't support focus function and that is why all photos are blurry take 300 points. When I buy it thought the camera worked fine! Please help me , camera was the reason why I bought this device in first place.

First, always make a search before post, your problem is common on this device, and the dev of the rom you are using can provide a kernel with focus fix, and its ok.
Any rom you will install first take a search on the thread and see if have a focus fix or not for camera.
Second, provide what rom you are using now! so we can help you.
I use pixel experience x2 8.1 official. I know there are many post about it the problem is that I have use almost every (even Chinese) roms. Right now I am downloading rr- v6.0.0

Ask the dev of the rom you are dwnloading for a kernel with focus fix for you, or you still have the focus problem.
I have download the rr v6.0.0 , as you may have already seen there is a focus fix kernal to download there provided by them I did the same installation 2 times once yesterday and once today after I completely format my phone I start from flash nothing happen I still have the same problem. I start with a question as some may had the same problem and found that focus fix kernal and that rom.
Thank you all in advance

Try opening the camera app and repeatedly tap on the glass of the camera on the back. It's probably stuck or something.
Still nothing !

If flashing the focus fix kernel for the you are using, maybe going back to EUI make it work again?
If not, than you have a hardware problem.

about the camera i dont have any issue or focus issue on any rom.
Yep I have exactly the same focus issue as OP, was wondering if going back to stock EUI would help bring the camera back to life.
Tested on 19s EUI Indian ROM and on 26s Chinese EUI ROM and It still doesn't work, I think this is a hardware problem caused by a software, I guess we're stick with this camera till the end.

Stupid answer actually. Try to flash stock eui, if still broken, you should ask for refund.
The problem is that hardware may vary, some people have problems, some other don't
recently I also have same focus and blur issue with my Le Eco max 2
in last month when I handset not showing focus , but next day I don't find any issue with camera , then I noticed that due to summer and I was outside my handset body was hot and next day it was in normal temp
but again after very next day I found same issue and its not working in normal body temp
and this issue is only with rear camera and not with front camera
please help me for focus and blur issue with my rear camera
Hi,
I think it's time to say that we have to stop thinking that this is due to the rom ... I had two leeco max 280 & 281 with the original roms ... the focus is break down on both after a few months. It is a material problem. I bought and change the cameras (V1611) by V1620 & v1621 and since it is perfectly ok.
Regards
Heyyo, for focus issues? X2's do have weak camera actuators. My x2 was fine for the longest time, but I'm clumsy and have dropped it a few times and now I do require focus fix to be enabled.
Most ROMs these days have a toggle found in the settings btw. For LineageOS? It would be found under Settings > System > Advanced > LeEco Settings.
I have seen before that some users report attaching a coin magnet beside the camera, I think below the flash module can help with getting the camera to focus again... Albeit at the loss of OIS since the camera won't be able to balance... So at that point? You are better off ordering a new camera module and replacing it. The fingerprint sensor replacement guide for x2 is amazing here on XDA and the camera sensor is just beside the fingerprint sensor so that guide works good for this purpose too.

I'm on Temasek's unofficial CM11 rom, and I have this issue which has been bugging me since half a year ago when I made the jump from rooted stock roms to AOSP roms.
Whenever I take a picture using either the front or back camera, the width of the saved picture would be so much bigger compared to the image I'll see before I take the picture, causing it to have more objects in the final picture. It's really irritating because I'll never be able to take a proper picture without having objects and people photobombing.
Does anyone else have this problem?
yeah, i'm getting the same thing on OMNI rom

I had a slimier problem that when I use the camera and set the pic as a home wallpaper, it becomes so much bigger and couldn't modify the size.
Issue has been solved after wiping everything and re-install the same rom. So I would suggest to wipe your phone and install the rom again.
Not a rom issue..i tried switching between roms but nothing seemed to work.
i've asked in the rom thread, see what others have to say:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49219713&postcount=4498
That's a known problem in all aosp/Google stock ROMs, included n5 stock Rom have this problem.
The problem is that the camera don't have the black frames up and down to fit the real aspect ratio of the camera to view finder
For me is a annoyed bug, but seems that no lot off people are disappointed with it because there's no fix for it
Hope someone with more android knowledge could help us

Thanks, didn't know it was a known problem. It is indeed really annoying...
All of a sudden my camera just wont focus on long distances. Nothing happens when I touch the screen to focus "manually". Its only sharp focus on approxiametely 25 centimeter.
Do you think its hardware? I tried other apps but...
Is it possible to reset the camera?
I have the Umbrella ROM.

You most likely have a stuck lens. Turn off your phone put it in a freezer bag and put it in the freezer for about 10 minutes then while in the freezer turn on your phone and open camera and click on screen to force it to focus. See if that works out

Hi, I have same problem, just with linage os, mooke, RR ROMs. I today install stock ROM ( need send back phone) and find that camera work fine. After I flash again to android 7 ROMs and camera don't work. Again installed couple ROMs based on stock eui, stock Russian and Indian roms, on all this roms camera work perfect. Now go try linage 13 or mokee 6 android ROM.
I can confirm that FOCUS in EUI based ROM is fully working. In RR in my case - FOCUS did not work. I reroll back from RR to EUI (SmallEUI) and FOCUS works again.
If you have problems after reroll back to EUI at all, try to wipe internal storage too. Afterwards do a clean install via command console in TWRP. This step help me to begin my fingerprint works again. Maybe this helps FOCUS too.
i don't think its a hardware problem.if it is, why camera work fine on eui rom?
i also have focus issue,I hope and waiting for developer could find it out,and fix this issue.before that i Will use the eui rom.

It's a problem with Nougat based ROM's, I went back to indian stock EUI, and my camera problem dissapeared
Guys, I stumbled upon something that might help us. The focus issue is fully reproducible in older MM kernels. I remember some people had problems back then, but probably less were affected at the time. So we need to nail down what change fixed it. I tested multiple kernels and listed results here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73557030&postcount=1047
Perhaps our kernel devs will have an idea how was it fixed around April/May or know who was involved in this? @infrag , @andr68rus ?
So everybody that had focus fix problems that started in Nougat may notice the focus fix kernel's and toggle's hardly work on Oreo ROMs, I've tested a couple of ROMs in the past month including Extended, AeX, Los, Carbon... And I've notice that on all of these ROMs my camera still doesn't focus, it's like it's stuck focusing at one spot and you can never change it, that's why close up pictures taken with my phone look alright but If I take a picture of a tree from a far it will be very blurry. My question here is, is there any real focus fix that would help me resolve this issue. Past year when the focusing issue 1st started I fixed it by changing to Cuoco's EUI ROM, and the camera there was perfect, I never had any Issues with it, but sadly I dislike EUI.
AFAIK there is no fix for that. But not all devices are affected, I have no problems

Yeh I've noticed not many people have this problem, guess I will hang around on an Oreo ROM without back cam for a while until I get a new phone..
I don't know, I have not heard about any fix other than you mentioned about. If it does not work for you, there is nothing left.

I'm not enough of an expert to tell you what causes this problem, but I know many ROMs contain the fix for it already, and some offer an additional download for the focus fix if it's needed. So just have a look through the ROM threads, I know one ROM has a download with a focus fix kernel to download as well, I'm not for a second saying that kernel would work on your ROM, but if you've got TWRP and a full backup and stuff, if you can't find out if it will work with your ROM, then flashing it anyway won't do any lasting harm I don't think, you'd just have to restore your backup, but don't hold me to that lol.
Heyyo, are you using official EUI ROM 19s or a different one?
If official? Hmm that's really not good as it means your camera actuator is defective... Some people say shaking the phone helps.. others say reverting to an ancient version of EUI ROM like 14s and using camera there and then going to EUI ROM 28s... But no idea if it would help you. If not? It's definitely hardware and would require replacing the camera module.
Going back to stock then settling for 20s fixed the camera for me.
Camera was working fine with Cuoco92 23s then suddenly stopped focusing.
Upgrade to 28s did not work.
Factory reset - flash to Cuoco92 14s (camera still not focus)
Then flash to Cuoco92 28s - camera works now.
Dont know why but this info might helps someone.
Camera is poor and barely supported, this is currently biggest disadvantage. As hardware is relatively poor, camera is very easy to scratch, software support is poor too, for example panorama will be always out of focus, movies have crazy focus jumping, under or over exposed in case when light conditions change during filming, also pictures are always relatively poor quality.
Just use other phone to make photo, if you can't live with that, x2 is not for you. I'm lucky I am not getting "focus issue" mentioned, but all other issues as I said makes camera rather poor.

Does the same apply to Lineage 15.1?
This happened to me on a resurrection remix nougat ROM randomly one day after working flawlessly for several months. Updated to AospExtended and then tried flashing a fix, but issue was still not solved. Personally this problem doesn't make the phone unusable, but it is annoying when I want to take an occasional picture of a nice car or a moment in life.
Guys my light sensor is damaged. On eui when there are too many light in my room the colors on the screen are faded (look at the screenshot). It doesn't happens on custom ROMs but the EUI only. I disabled the auto brightness but it doesn't work. And I cannot figure how to disable light sensor in EUI. I NEED YOUR HELP!

This isn't a damaged light sensor issue, it it is an annoying "feature" of eui for which there is no toggle. It's a more extreme version of the auto-contrast adjustment feature that used to annoy everyone in Lineage Oreo. As far as I know there's nothing that can be done about it, although it is less noticeable if you maximize screen brightness.

Oh thank you so much to answer me. So there is nothing wrong with my hardware and all EUI issues face with this problem?.. There are lots of developer that make amazing things for our phone. I'm sure they'd help us to switch this off.. Because when this is on it's not possible to view an image with its true colors.. You can imagine how is it annoying while using camera app..
Yes, I also wish someone could turn off this annoying feature of eui. It looks horrible. If anyone can help us it's probably @arielaco or @CrisBalGreece but it doesn't seem like anyone is interested in modding eui nowadays. Understandable that most devs are focused on 9.0 Pie ROMs rather than ancient MM eui, and there are some very good O and P ROMs, but some small issues (eg microphone) and poor battery life usually bring me back to eui.

Yeah, always been an issue with every version of eui that I have used over the last two years, though it's usually only when outside in bright sunlight. I even asked @Cuoco92 to try and fix it, but nothing came of it. And as I said, even Lineage 15.1 had a similar auto-contrast bug at first. But I think @ThE_MarD was able to fix it, or maybe Lineage did upstream.

I fixed it for custom ROMs which is what I work on... Plus, LeEco have a different implementation than custom ROMs, so it could be any LeEco added app or binary... I also don't really work on EUI ROM as I always have my hands full with LineageOS and family stuff, etc so I don't want to stretch myself thin and try too much at once.
I'd recommend searching your device for any PPD binary or anything that seems to do with post processing as any of those could be causing the issue and then try to delete them one at a time. Worst case if EUI ROM crashes? Just reinstall it and it'll restore itself.
Worst case scenario you still can't find a fix? I'd recommend repairing your hardware.
