I am having a mgisk root on my mate 10 BLA-L29C185B119 and there is an update BLA-L29C185B129
I have twrp and bootloader unlocked obviously
I took a backup from twrp for every partitition except "data" and "system image"
because I am taking a backup using "HiSuite" for "data" and I got no size on the USB for "data"
"system image" keeps failing when I try to back it up using TWRP.
Is it safe to continue without the "system image" and "data" being backed up? What if I made a mistake and brick the phone do I still not need them?
Someone told me to use this link to do the update https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/how-to/guide-mate-10-flash-oreo-update-package-t3716814
which is basically I have to go through "Prepare and Notice", "Download Update ZIP (Two Examples)" and "Flash Update"
After doing this what will happen to my phone? I mean will I lose my root? Will I lose my stuff?

I have the Modaco firmware 3.1 on my phone( I bought it with that firmware from ebay) and when I try to restore( with fastboot''fastboot flash system system.img) it loads a while and after sending the file it makes this error
''writing 'system'....INFOsignature checking...''
FAILED (remote: signatur verify fail)
What can I do?!
I searched now for hours how to restore it plz guys just give me a tutorial...
____________sorry for spelling misstakes___________
there should be a restore option in the recovery image. do you have the latest recovery image v1.5.3.1? if not, update!

Hi yea I have the ra-hero-1.5.2 installed...
Is there another Programm to restore the data I made with nandroid? Can you give me a tutorial how that to restore directly in the nandroid recovery?
First, you need to copy the "nandroid" folder from your old SD card to your new one. Then, boot into Recovery Mode by shutting the phone down, then hold the Home button while you turn on the phone. (you can let go of the Home button after you get the start-up vibration.) From the Recovery Mode, select "nandroid restore" or whatever the similar option is. This will restore your most recent backup.
i think this should be a yes or no question / verify i understand this
if i root my eris ( just the root image NO recovery imgs or anything just root image) ...i can just boot into recovery, make a nandroid backup, save it onto my sd card and computer then i can flash back to stock whenever if i choose to, correct?
im not missing anything?, i dont need to download a nandroid app or a recovery image?
sorry if its been asked before but i have been searching and need to clarify this because everything on here is spread out and unclear to me.
If I understand what you're saying the answer is no... maybe I'm wrong. You can't boot into recovery without your "recovery image."
I would just install the recovery image because then you can make a nandroid backup. And it can do the exact same as the original one, just more options, but normally, no, you cannot make a nandroid backup without installing the recovery image.
Hi,
I tried changing from "2e recovery" to "3e recovery" that doesn't check signature. Unfortunately, I was not aware that the program was written for Samsung phones.
The result of that "stupid" act was that when I Power Reset with Volume down I get into "Factory Mode" which allows me to test the phone, clear its flash and reboot into operating system - no recovery option !!!
I tried to "adb reboot recovery" the phone reboots and hangs with the green HTC on its screen.
I tried to copy files into root but its write protected.
It seems I am stuck in present Android version (2.1) as without recovery I can't upgrade - which was the reason for the unfortunate "3e recovery" installation in the first place.
Any idea? Advice? - Maybe a possibility to upgrade WITHOUT going into recovery mode (I guess not...)?
Thanks in advance
I think you can use the RUU to fix your problem. Head to the sticky on the dev side and look for the how to downgrade to 1.31.
Download the RUU 1.31 for legend. This will flash your phone back to unroot and every thing gone. So use titanium backup to backup your stuff. If ROM manager still can take you to cwm. You still can do a nandroid backup.
Than use the ruu exe from the pc and follow on screen instruction.
If this fail. Use your gold card and put the LEGEIMG.zip than boot to bootloader and update it. You get this zip also from some of the rooting guides.
Good luck
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
Is there a way to check that the gold card is actually working as a gold card?
Do I have to rename LEGEIMG.zip to update.zip before booting to bootloader?
Thanks
I badly need some help, is it just me or our Heros stuck on clockwork 2.5.0.7 recovery which has very limited functions. I cant even partition using that recovery or is there an update ? besides AmonRA. I need the a version with the "fix permissions" as i recently started getting the "System UIDs Inconsistent.." error message on boot.

2.5 cwm had problems with partitioning sd cards - meaning that in newer phones, if you choose to do this, you will brick your phone mainly because the partitions were moved, and the code from the recovery was aiming at the old partitions. When the user decides to partition te SD card (on newer phones), the recovery will actually partition the flash drive, resulting in a bricked device. So the option was deleted for good. I use amonra for 3 years. no problem!
My God .. that sounds really like a pain and dangerous. I used to be a loyal AmonRA user but i recall it always having problems about packages not being able to flash.
Hei,
I was running 4.3.1 Dirty Unicorns and wanted to flash Smartdroid.
So, flashed Devil recovery and tried to flash the ROM.
It gave me message that there's an error in the zip file.
I was just playing with the options available in the recovery and selected some option, which I don't remember now.
After that, the went into bootloop. "Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300" appears on the screen and the phone reboots again and again.
This loop continued.
The phone could be put in Download mode.
Then, I flashed CWM 6.0.4.4 and flashed 4.1.2, which I downloaded some time back.
It went on well. I could boot the phone and had set it up.
However, I couldn't connect to network.
The IMEI was some default one.
Rooted the phone and tried to restore the backup of efs folder using HC-Ktool.
After restore, when I booted the phone, it didn't boot.
"Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300" appears on the screen and the phone reboots again and again.
I tried flashing the ROM again, CWM again etc etc.
Nothing worked.
In one occasion, after installing CWM 6.0.4.4, I restored from NANDROID backup. Restore was successful.
But, it wouldn't boot.
Same "Samsung Galaxy S3" appears on the screen and the phone reboots again and again.
Once, I flashed Dirty Unicorns ROM from zip via CWM. Still the same.
What is happening and how to solve it?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Babloo
Wipe Data/Factory Reset -> Download mode
Flash latest Android 4.3 from Sammy through Odin, preferably XXUGMK6 or newer.
Hei,
This worked!!!
Thanks.
Why flashing 4.1.2, Dirty Unicorns didn't work and this one worked?
If you can explain, that will be helpful to all.
Now, though the phone is booting, the efs folder is corrupted.
IMEI number is not what it should be.
I have a backup of the efs folder taken using HC-Ktool long back.
So, the ROM on which efs folder was backedup will be different that the ROM I have now. (Does it make any difference?)
Can I just root and restore that efs folder using HC-Ktool?
Thanks for the help!!
Regards,
Babloo
Edit:
If I flash CWM Recovery 6.0.4.4 and restore the NANDROID backup that I took before I started screwing my mobile, will everything be fine?
Sounds like you tried to flash a corrupt file, always check the md5 before you flash.
EFS is totally separate to the rom, format the partition, restore your backup then factory reset should return your imei on the current rom.
Nandroid will not fix the efs, unless you used a custom backup process that included the partition -the default settings would not do this.
Hei,
"format the partition, restore your backup"
For this, can I just root the phone and use Ktool to restore backup?
If you suggest any other procedure, pls give me more info.

Hei,
After the previous post, I could restore my phone from NANDROID backup that I took yesterday, before the whole mess.
After that, I tried to restore the efs folder using HC-Ktool from efs.img.
It gives the message that restore is completed.
But, after reboot, the IMEI remains the same wrong one (the generic 004999...)
The size of efs.img is 20.48 MB.
I tried to restore using the terminal method.
With the command "unmount /efs" I get error message "sh: unmount: not found"
How can I restore the efs and get back my IMEI?
When I tried to "open" the img file in Windows, it couldn't open. It says that the file is corrupted.
Could it have been really corrupted or it is just that Windows is unable to open it?
I restored the efs using the same backup file.
Why is it not working now?

You are trying to skip essential stages and hurry to finish, but your partition is still corrupt -you can't restore anything to a corrupt partition.
Search and read someone who has succeeded doing the same thing, follow their guide exactly.

I have been searching for a proper procedure to format the efs partition since your post.
Whatever I found didn't work for me.
Can you please point me to any post that you know?
