What are the two slits? - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

There are what appears to be two slits on my S9+. Both are on the front of the phone. One is above the earpiece and the other is below the home button. Are those part of the speakers? I looked online but didn't find any information on them.

Im looking on my s9+ and i do not see any slits? Have you peeled the protective plastic stuff off your phone yet? Maybe try to post a pic so we can see what your referring too.

Sorry can't take a pic. I think I answered my question. I was referring to the space at the top and bottom of the glass. If you run your finger nail along the edge of it, you feel some ridges. It almost looks like a speaker mesh. I was wondering if it was part of the speakers. After looking under a microscope, it looks like it's just a design thing.

Rubber Case for the Tilt 2?

Just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I was wondering if they make a rubber fitted case for the Tilt 2? Kinda like an Iphone one...
I have one for my US Tmo that I got from the Tmo store............

I ordered this one for my tilt 2, you have to slide the keyboard out in order to get the top and bottom piece on. It takes a while, but once I got it on, it stayed.

This thread is for the Tilt 2 Rubber cases only!
My Boxwave Praetorian Crystal Slip for the Tilt 2 review.
The first picture shows the gap you will get with the top piece on or off!
In the last picture. There is a little piece towards the right of the screw, that the top part of the case won't fit over.
If you let anybody check out your phone with this case on it will come right off.
Nice pics...
I'm glad you took a pic of just the bottom piece. I've actually thought about just buying the bottom piece since that's all I'm concerned about...it seems way too thick. I know I wouldn't like it on my phone and would end up just tossing it.
I'm really looking for one of those silicone back covers that they have for the iPhone...
Thanks again,

The bottom part of the case is good and fits really nice, but for $20? If it came in black maybe, I said maybe!
Right now I using my old Tilt case after I had the velcro replaced and with the bottom part on, it's way to tight.

No prob mate, just wanted to point that the other thread I mentioned is for ALL
SILICON case for Rhodium (any model)
So instead of having 4 threads for avery model the idea was to have one for all models, that´s all.

WOW! Thanks for posting your opinion and the pics. I was about to order one of these. I totally agree that the bottom piece is too thick and that's a HUGE gap it creates between the top and the base. That seems like it'll wear the springs out. Sucks that there just doesn't seem to be a good rubber case for the Tilt 2. I'm really hoping Seidio will make an Innocase Surface for the Tilt 2. They already make them for the Sprint and Verizon version of the TP2. I've read where people have been told they're going to make one and others where they've said they will not. I'm just saying I'll believe it when I see it.
Kinda lame Seidio...

We understand your efforts of trying to merge all into one thread and all, but honestly, I would prefer 4 Separate threads. If i have the ATT tilt 2 (which I do), I would not want to read OVER 30 PAGES of freakin' reviews and such JUST for my one model. We understand your good Samaritan acts here, but seriously, people don't have the patience or time for that -- UNLESS, every 5 pages, you would like to do the honors of summarizing which cases work for every model since you want to dump it into a "come-one-come-all" thread. I don't know about you, but your thread is too long for the newcomers who are looking up a good case for their model. Besides, it doesn't hurt to have more threads in this section because its pretty slow paced.
Sorry, was kind of getting tired of you rejecting every thread that pops up about this.
Oh, and many of the posts in that thread are close to useless and does not help at all. So basically ---> your life is wasted reading that long of a thread. Make a new one at least please.

[Q] Lanyard hole?

If this was asked already, excuse my search skills, I couldn't find this on the forum.
Anyway, does the Galaxy S II have a lanyard hole?
I've tried looking at the video reviews, and countless of pictures, but either I can't see it, or it just doesn't have one.
Can someone who owns the phone confirm this, please?
I've never been a fan of lanyards, but considering $800 will be dangling from my fingers every time I use the phone, I'd much rather have a strap of some sort in case I manage to drop it. Yes, even with a case on, I'd still like a lanyard of some sort.
Thanks!

LOL -- I think that's a cute answer.
The random hole is the lanyard hole -- like the previous reply shows, you first remove the back cover.
Next to that random hole, you'll notice there is a hook right next to the hole. Push the entire small loop (the phone end of the lanyard) through the hole, wrap the loop around the hook, and pull to tighten.
The Nokia 5800 also uses a similiar style lanyard hook.

So not only this S2 looks sexy, sleek and with top notch hardware features, but also DOES have a lanyard hole! I'm tired of using a scotch tape hack on my HD2.

I use it because I work in a warehouse and I am not allowed headphones and it muffles the sound in my pocket. So I hang it around my neck and run the radio for 8 hours straight.
*I work spread out in to big a area for a stationary radio. Also machinery has a habit of hitting me exactly at the pocket it would be kept in.
A couple guys like my idea that the next phones they buy are going to have radio or at least smart phones for music playback and lanyard holes.
I've seen the same note on the PDF manual for this phone.
I am not seeing this hook on the brand new AT&T Version of this phone.
Can use the fingernail hole and loop it around the camera????

Regular, flat case for 7"?

I've been Googling, eBaying, and Amazoning (last fictional verb sounds kinda cool) for a common, flat case for my Tab 2 7.0.
It has become my number one remote control, so you can probably understand how uncomfortable a flip case is, adding an extra step every time I want to change a channel, or having a cover hanging (why in the world are 95% of the cases are now "folio"?!). Also, most cases either block the IR transmitter entirely, have some part obstructing it partially, making it mandatory to aim with "the" angle towards my TV set.
I have found a few silicon cases on eBay, but they have an S line, or weird X across the whole thing, that just make the device look fugly to me. No offense if someone likes it or has it, as we know, everyone has different taste.
I'd like to just get a regular, non-flip, non-folio, non-X-or-any-character-of-the-alphabet-drawn, plain cover, that protects the rear of my device, and doesn't obstruct the IR blaster at all. How hard can it be? The perfect fit for me would be a flat, matte black rubber thingy, with a hole where the blaster is... so simple, and inexistent! Maybe even better, a hard case.
Anyone found something, somewhere?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Defender Series Case
I've looked but haven't found any.
I tried out the S curve case that was made for the GTab Plus and it fit horribly. It's too bad that the Gtab 2 isn't popular enough to have more cases. I was hoping for a Cruzerlite case, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

Yeah, I've seen it. I'm not sure it fits the "simple, flat" criteria, although I think I'd buy it if it didn't cost 1/3 of what my tablet did
I agree that Otterbox is pricey. I also hate the frame around the screen on the front.
Why not just get one of these cheap tpu style cases and just cut the tabs off that hold the cover?

That's exactly what I planned on doing if I couldn't find anything... get rid of the cover, and/or punch a hole for the IR sensor on the ones that are designed for P3100.
What about this one...

Says "P3100", but there's a 7.0 Plus in the pictures... who knows!
Got one, and it fits perfect! I'll post some pictures tomorrow.
PS: Anyone has tried matte/antiglare screen protectors? Been thinking about one, but not really convinced.
Try the Capdase silicone case for Tab 7.0 plus. Although mine is the folio type, (silicone case with IR blaster slot + leather folio) their plain silicone (w/o the leather case) seems exactly what you're looking for. Just plain flat black silicone, no x or s or whatever. just plain flat.

Do the corners of that case create a bit of a bevel/lip where they clamp on the tab? In other words, when you put the tab face down on a desk/table, is there a space between the screen and desk/table or is it flush?

I prefer the matte over the clear screen protector. The clear one gets sticky at times, the matte is always smooth and you don't have to worry about hairline scratches and reflections in your screen.

I guess it's worth a try. I'll get a matte screen cover and see how it goes. Good input, thanks!
Now, the long overdue pictures . Since the back surface is mostly flat (that was the idea), I concentrated mostly on showing how it fits the tablet. My apologies for the narrow depth of field... unfortunately I didn't have my tripod's plate with me, so I had to take the pictures handheld, and the only way to get a steady shot was with a large aperture.
This is the general look of it:

Dealextreme tends to be somewhat slow compared to individual sellers from Ebay, I believe this is because DX is the "middleman" liasing between customers who place orders and the suppliers who advertise their products whereas on Ebay, the sellers are the suppliers who respond directly to customer orders.

Anyone have this black eforcity case?

I was wondering for anyone that have the black version of this case, does the flaps have magnets in them? It's listed for the other colors but not for the black. I found this kind of strange so I emailed them and it seems like they take forever to respond. So if anyone have this case, could you please comment? Thank you.
P.S. I'll also take recommendations for similar cases.

This has to be the dumbest question ever "Why do you care?". The guy is obviously asking so that he can make a smart purchase than going in blind and come to find out its not what he wanted and then having to return the item back. If you don't have any helpful advise to give why even comment? The nerve of some people!

The case for my GTab 2 7" arrived yesterday. I'm used to rockin the tab "naked" but I'm liking the case. Nice and thin, magnets keep it closed nicely, all ports/buttons are available (including IR). Two little things... 1) It has a little loop for a pen or stylus which is annoying, I'll cut it off, and 2) the case doesn't lie perfectly flat against the tab in the area of the Samsung logo on the font of the tab, directly underneath the home/back buttons. A little annoying because when attempting to hit one of the buttons you first contact the case which is sticking up a bit.

Im a jerk? Come on man, think about your answer. If anything you came off being rude. You cant assume that all of these case with flaps have magnets as i have seen some with velcro and why tell the dude why does he care when he's asking for a reason. SMDH....
It took them days to reply but they finally gave me an answer. They say that it doesnt come with magnets so i bought a similar one but there's no cutout for the charging port(but in their pictures it did). Oh well and thank you for all the responses, much appreciated.
P.S. I care if they have magnets or not because it's more secure when my tablet drops than having the front part flap around on it's way down.

I took a picture of it for you not sure if that helps. The white you see by my finger is the paper i push into that spot. I believe it's the little flaps your talking about.
Just to add, or help someone else, I have this case. I like it for the price, and it leaves the face open.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Slim-...es_Covers_Keyboard_Folios&hash=item2a25d206a5
It leaves all the ports and camera unobstructed. It's good for watching, but it is not "locked" into position, so tapping too hard on the screen will cause it to collapse flat. Only drawback.

Fingerprint sensor friendly case

Hello all. I had bought my v10 last week and got my third party case from eBay a couple of days ago and that's when I learned of the sensor issue. On mine, just like others, the sensor is nearly useless.
So I did some scouting and found the UAG case. I contacted the company in regards to this case and they claim the case works 100% with the fingerprint sensor. Has anyone here used the Urban Armor Gear case? Its a pretty pricey investment and don't want to flush more $$ on cases that just won't work.
Easy Fingerprint / Case fix
Just keep the case you like.
Cut a thin (~1") strip of aluminum foil long enough to connect both metal side rails (~3").
Lay it across the back of your phone so that it covers the bottom volume button and touches each metal side rail.
Then put the case on.
As long as your finger can brush up against the foil when you try to unlock, it works every time.
They'll eventually roll out an update that will address this, so don't worry about "cases that work", they're probably lying anyway unless they have a metal strip built in.

Here is what I did http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64016697&postcount=12. It works fine for me just remember to smooth out the edges so they are completely flat else you have a chance of scratching the metal rails.

Yep, just make it work. When I put the strip in, I didn't even cut around the hole like in your pics. It actually turned out pretty clean, the aluminum forms itself to the bottom button and looks kind of like a silver half-moon. I could see where yours could work better from some angles, but I never have problems, and am lazy. You can see it on imgur if you paste in mqJXBDY after the slash.

I actually didn't cut that part out I used the excess and rolled it up to line the edge of the cutout so when I touch the FPS my finger would still be in contact with foil without covering up the button. Pretty much my cuts of foil are the red lines with the arrows showing where the pieces were rolled to line the edge.
That is pretty slick.
