Hello to all.
I am newly subscribed to the XDA site.
I currently live in Thailand, and fortunately do not have any Android phone problems.
I do however have BIG problems with an Android smart TV that I bought here.
(Firmware, OS, ROM etc)
Before I go into long-winded details, does anyone out there have any experience with Android Smart TVs?
Thanks in advance for any contact on this subject.

Hello all,
Long time follower on xda, and now first time contributor, sorry.
Been tinkering with android x86 for some time, got bored and lost interest due to busy work schedules.
A couple of weeks ago I happen to buy the LG W200 LTE watch at AT&T the day before it got recalled, and well... I am not giving it back!
With that said, my day to day phone is a Blackberry Passport running stock BB 10.3 with Crackberry Forums user "Cobalt232" Google Play Services runtime hack to run Google Play store, my Google Maps and so on on my Blackberry Passport.
I have tried to make headway on that forum, regarding my inability to get 100% functionality between the watch and the phone, both via BT as well as remotely via LTE...
But it seem's that they (CB forum) are more interested in getting CoC to work... rather than focusing more on getting the Android/Blackberry hardware/software interoperability working.. so that ALL apps can work.
So that's why I am moving my conversation, time and developments effort to xda.
As for my tools of the trade, I have:
PC = Viewsonic vPad10 (all flavours of android x86)
Android Phone = Sony Z Ultra 6833 (unlocked, rooted, KK v4.4.4)
Blackberry Phone = Passport SQW100-1 (stock, v10.3.2.2474) (rooted JB 4.3 runtime)
I will be back soon to upload and post all of my findings, in detail... later today.
Thanks for looking!

Hello, I am planning to buy an Android TV box soon, but I want to wait for the Amlogic S912 to come out, I plan to use it for 4k and think more graphical power can't hurt. I figure it will come with Android tv 6.0. Now here is where it gets tricky, I have read that sideloading was removed in Android 6.0.
If this is true, I haven't seen a whole lot of coverage on that, it's big news to me.
I'm wondering, if there is another way of doing the equivalent of sideloading on Android 6.0 and what are the pitfalls I should avoid when purchasing one of these boxes? I really want to be able to install stock android tv, I don't want the prepackaged software that comes with these cheap china boxes (my price range).
Is there a rule to follow for ensuring maximum compatibility with most of the android tv apps out of the box. I don't know if there's some cpu features that aren't included with certain chips, and if that's why the app compatibility issue happens. That'd just be my guess, but I don't know why there are app compatibility issues. This issue more than anything would really help in solving my dilemma.
If you are experienced in this I would really appreciate the advice. Search terms to look up would be very helpful.
Edit: I just found the Questions and Answers forum. Can a mod please move this there? Sorry for posting in the wrong section.
Hi all,
I'm fairly new to this TV box stuff and mine arrived with Android 4.4.2 sitting on kernel 3.10.33
Everything looks super outdated so I started doing some digging to see if there are new firmwares that can be installed but didn't find any reliable source for it. If anyone has info about this please share it with us. I also noticed there is a software running which Kodi sits on which I don't think is needed as Kodi can sit directly on Android without issues.
Thanks in advance

Post the hardware specifications
Chance are there are compatible boxes out there where you can borrow a newer rom from.
Hi all!
I have Archos 101 Childpad with android 4.2.2 that is slow and sluggish.
Does anyone know if there is a official android upgrade for this tablet, or is it so old it's time for the trash bin?
It's mainly going to be used by my 3 year old son, so simple games and youtube viewing is going to be installed on it.
I don't need the songs/bear functionality it came with, so any newer android version that will run on it (without killing it's performance) is appreciated.
I tried to look at Archos home page, but I couldn't even find the childpad model listed on the page anymore.
I have no idea which gen (8,9,10,???) this tablet is, but I hope I posted this in the correct forum.
Thanks in advance!
Regards
