I need some help. I transformd my P20 Pro (CLT-L09) with single sim in a P20 Pro with double-sim ( CLT-L29).
My problem is that I have a sim tray for only one sim and I need the correct sim-tray with double sim support.
I don't found the sim tray for P20 Pro so I orderd that one for Mate 10 Pro. For me was the same. I saw the photos in various website.
The sim-tray arrived to me yesterday but sadly there is a little difference !
The sim-tray is almost equal, but it is longer about 1 millimeter.
I tryed to insert mine two sim and insert the double-sim tray in my P20 Pro.
The Phone see all the two sim and work perfectly with both sim, also in 4G.
But the sim tray stick out from the phone about 1 millimeter.
Someome know where I can buy the correct one ?
So your phone was single SIM, and you used a different card tray and it works with dual Sims?

I presume he used Funky Huawei to convert (which is a paid service)
How did you change it to CLT-L29 ?.
If I find a solution to your problem, I'll let you know.
Thanks in advance.

How about using a grinding machine or sanding machine to take off the 1mm at the end which goes into the phone?

Impossible ! the difference is in the external part of sim tray. Internally the sim tray is perfect. In fact both sim works perfectly !
If I think to do it manually, the right thing to do is to use the original sim tray. But manually for me is impossible. We are talking of 0.5 - 0.3 millimeters !!
What I did was use a dremel to cut out the piece of the single sim tray and trimmed the sim card to fit. It now works perfectly. You have to trim the sim card a little so that it fits in tight, if you trim too much it will be loose from the tray.

I do have the same issue and was thinking about grinding it too in case I could not find the original tray, however I was wondering if I need something else in the software in order to make my two SIM cards work.

Has anyone had any experience of the MAGICSIM ELITE - GALAXY S3 DUAL SIM ADAPTER? I have tried it in my SGS3 and a) it's incredibly tight and b) it reports "no SIM".
It may be that I am being paranoid but I really don't want to force the micro-SIM and the adapter in too hard. Even when I think I have it in OK, it doesn't see the SIM cards.
Teach me....
Yep I've got one, works fine. Just pushed it in with my finger nail until the spring load clicked in place. If in doubt maybe just email Magic-sim?
I got mine a few days ago and the STK menu does not work. I am unable to switch between SIMs.
I have contacted Magic-SIM and am awaiting a solution.
it seems Magicsim ELITE doesn't exist ... check on magicsim.com there is no ELITE product ... I've ask them and they are not aware about "ELITE" ... so it's smell fake product their are more expensive and have the same software/hard as magicsim 28th PLUS as you can find on www.magicsim.com/site
It looks more like it was developed especially by them as I have both the older 28th version and the new elite one and they are definately different.

Nice try.
OK, I finally got it installed and fired up with the help of Danny at www.magic-sim.co.uk.
Pity that it really doesn't work at all well. The Dual Sim application is visible and flips between SIMs. However, it's REALLY REALLY slow to register the SIM at boot time and then at switchover time. It is also very unstable and will drop both SIMs out of service at times, which kinda makes the phone useless.
All in all £35 wasted, but "Caveat Emptor" I guess. I have given up with this.

I had a similar responsiveness issue with a dual sim adapter I got for my old S2 but it was because I was using a sim card that was about 3 years old and that was causing the issue. Once I replaced that it was fine, maybe this is the issue you're having. This ones working really well in my S3, takes about 20 seconds to switch sims and has been extremely stable so far.
The primary SIM is a micro SIM and is about 4 weeks old direct from T-Mobiles local store. The other one is an elderly FIDO SIM but that's not even getting looked at during the boot process.

I'd bet you my right arm that your outdated sim is what's causing you mischief. These things rely on the full circuit so even when you're just using the first sim the signal is running through the second sim. My issue was also because of an old sim in the sim 2 slot.
Change that sim and I bet it works as it should!
Just installed this myself and so far all is perfect. No problems switching :good:

Also, have any of you had a problem with the fit under the cover? seems to me like there might be a bit of a bulge. Any issue with cases?

Yep I've had a few items from them over the years
The ones for which the adapter is working, can you tell me what kind of subscriptions you have (3G, LTE)?
My issue is that I can go up to HPSA+ on my SIM 1 (the one fitting the original S3 SIM slot) while on the second SIM, I'm blocked at EDGE. I tested the second SIM on another phone and there it goes up to HSPA+.
Also, to get it to EDGE, I have, after switching to the SIM 2, activate GSM only networks on the settings so that it register itself to the network first and then activate data services. A complete mess...
Could it be that SIM 2 is too old for dual sim adapters? How can one tell this?
Thanks in advance

So here is the question..
Did anybody tried this as seen doing on Galaxy S7 dual SIM?

yes, i did that. I have exynos 64gb dual sim version. Previously did the same trick on my S7E. The only difference on Note8 is that i need to trim the sides of the SIM else the microSD can't lock down into the tray nicely. The SIM is detected as SIM2.
If it is your first attempt, ensure you have marked on your microSD card the position of the sim2 chip. I did it with superglue on my first microsd, and doublesided tape on my new microsd. I do not advise you to attempt to try with double sided tape if it is your first try. It is very tricky as the sim gets push out of position when you insert the tray into phone.

But if I'm thinking correctly is better to use phone dual/modem as adapter on which you can use only one SIM at the same time..
Is that correct that you can use two phone lines at the same time and that you can choose simply from which SIM you will make phone call?

lets return to square one, which is the main subject of this topic.
how about using two sims and a sdcard WITHOUT ADAPTER option??
I used to have s7 edge and I did that modification mentioned by @ruffruff on it. I used to use 2 sims and a sdcard flawlessly with that trick.
My concern is; when I checked note 8 sim card slot, the structure is a little bit different.
There are some little holders which holds the cards on contrary of s7 edge sim card slot. the structure on note 8 sim card slot is also thinner than s7 edge's sim card holder.
Ok we have a working example at the first page by @ruffruff, however I wonder if that trick works flawlessly in most users scenario?
thanks in advance for the replies.

You cannot buy from them sim free but you can get on contract and then cancel and works out slightly cheaper than a single free device. See my post in the UK thread.

Unlocking the bootloader REQUIRES an unlock code, that is just the way it is, no way around it unless someone wants to spend the large amount of money for the hardware and spend the time necessary to write their own bootloader code and burn it to a totally blank un programmed motherboard

In general Samsung is easier because with a few exceptions they don't have locked bootloaders to begin with, they just have an efuse that is tripped when you flash anything unofficial or mod the device so they can void any warranty. As far as converting a single sim to a dual SIM, it can't be done as the hardware is different, if you want a dual SIM mate 10 you have to buy a dual SIM model.

In the case of Huawei Mate 10 Pro Single SIM and Dual SIM there are no hardware differences. This is demonstrated by the fact that some users of the Single SIM Huawei Mate 10 Pro have been converted into a Dual SIM using the FunkyHuawei application successfully (firmware updating from BLA-L09 to BLA-L29 without unlocking bootloader) and replacing the Single SIM tray with a Dual SIM tray. The only problem encountered by some users is that after modding to Dual SIM the Major Releases have no longer been downloaded. Unfortunately, the use of FunkyHuawei is subject to charges.
Sorry for my bad english..
Total bs

That's total bull crap, they have been rebranded to dual SIM models, but they do not magically gain dual SIM functionality because of it, just that they can use the dual SIM firmware. The hardware of the L29 and L09 are different, changing out the sim tray doesn't do anything (this has been verified by Huawei technicians). So I hate to burst your bubble but if you wanted a dual SIM you should have bought one. Take an L29 and an L09 apart, doesn't take a rocket scientist to see they have different motherboards.

At my previous post, I was not just referring to the conversion from Single SIM to Dual SIM, but in general I wanted to say why is it easier to do "modding" on a Samsung than on a Huawei (as for example unlocking bootloader)?

Many Samsung devices have locked bootloaders that are impossible to unlock, often flashing mods on Samsung devices triggers Knox preventing use of Google pay, etc.

I don't doubt that exist two models of Huawei Mate 10 Pro smartphones, a Single SIM Model and a Dual SIM model. But in Italy the Dual SIM model is destined to a no brand market, the Single SIM is instead destined to a market in conjunction with brands such as Telecom Vodafone etc. In reality it would be the same product, only that Telecom, Vodafone etc. have no interest in selling a Dual SIM product because market reasons. There are users who have bought the phone branded, for example with Telecom obviously Single SIM, and have successfully converted it into the Dual SIM model through the FunkyHuawei method demonstrating that the hardware is the same.
Erm.... Yes you can...
I have rebranded a single sim BLA-L09 to dual sim bla-l29 and bought a dual sim tray and have been using it with no issues for about a year? I used FH...
... I say no issues, I dont get ota updates anymore. HW suspect it's because the IMEI doesn't match the model of phone now... But that's fine, I just buy a credit every now and again...
Strange

If that's true what did you use for the second imei number? Just make one up in your head? Those are not random numbers that are just invented by the manufactures.

I didn't... I just followed the rebrand instructions by Funky Huawei. I didn't need to specify or change the IMEI.
Have you looked at Funky Huawei? I thought it was well known that you could rebrand the mate 10 Pro?
You don't get a second IMEI, it shares the first. This can cause some issues with using two sims from the same network apparently although I use two different networks and don't have any issues.
I thought XDA Forum was ahead of the Italian forum. It seems very strange that in this forum they do not know FunkyHuawei and their method.
I ordered on the 128gb version from Amazon UK (not reseller) on the 18th October as soon as they went live
I was expecting delivery today and it was shown still as being delivered until about 10am this morning when I received an email from Amazon
Has anyone received the memory card or has anyone found out where to buy them in the UK
I am moving from the note 9 to the mate 20 pro and have a 256gb in that (moving for the camera )
Seems like a supply issue
Any updates appreciated
Chris
I am having the same problem please let me know if you find anything I will do like wise

Think there has been a massive amount of confusion but there are a couple of threads which explains the SIM holders
They all have dual SIM just some have the dual SIM activated the single sim ones just have one slot activated and the other is for the NM card
Can't wait to get mine it should have landed today but royal mail screwed up so should be with me tomorrow ?
