ATT>XAA>ATT flash - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

I flashed my Note 8 when I first got it (before I had the unlock code). I flashed it to XAA/U1. Well, I got the unlock code a few days later and when I popped in a foreign SIM it simply says "Invalid SIM card inserted" "This SIM card is not supported" with no prompt to enter SIM unlock. At the time this was not a huge deal I kept the unlock code and have been using it since. Today I swapped carriers. Now it matters.
Phone is showing model # SM-N950U1.
Bootloader shows Carrier: ATT
Baseband is BRA5
I flashed N950USQU3CRC2_N950UOYN3CRC2_ATT
It still doesn't have the carrier bloat or prompt me to enter a SIM unlock.
Thoughts?

Switching carrier guide to change CSC code to ATT...then flash ATT firmware

Let me give everyone a heads up who may be an idiot and do this.
I had to downgrade from Oreo to BRA8. I had to do the carrier switch and change the CSC file. I then had to flash all AT&T bloat. Then pop my SIM in. Use my unlock code. Then reflash to XAA.
Thanks BlueFox helped me through the whole ordeal. What an effin nightmare. All this was in the name of gaming the carriers for "free" phones.
I am still trying to get my XAA flash going, but this was a solid 5 hours of effort on my part. Shame I will be updating to the S9+ within the next month or so.

SIM UNLOCK issue

Here is my problem:
I am trying to use GoPhone SIM with my Atrix. When I put GoPhone SIM in Atrix it says Invalid SIM card (it should be noted that phone works with normal AT&T SIMs).
Solution attempt #1: I went ahead and ordered unlock code for Atrix on ebay. Got the code.
Put GoPhone SIM inside , dialed #073887* entered the code and failed in unlocking.
Solution attempt#2: I asked AT&T for an unlock code, they gave it to me in two weeks. Entered it ,failure again.
Could it be that my phone is very special Atrix that can not be unlocked even by AT&T?
PS
I also tried unlocking without SIM card, no luck. It says NETWORK UNLOCK REQUEST UNSUCCESSFUL
Take a look at my thread, essentially the same issue. Not certain you can even unlock the Atrix

Last OTA update breaks my gsm sim

I recently had my phone get stuck in a bootloop on Infection after having it run fine for over a year. So, I followed the the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2509770 and everything went fine until flashing the last OTA update. When asked to put in my pin code for the sim it states the first time I am asked that I have 0 tries left and I need to use the PUK code to unlock it. The PUK code will not unlock it though. I am for sure using the right code. Every other step in the upgrade process worked fine with the GSM sim card. I ignored this error at first and flashed a JB Rom and a KK Rom and the sim card was not recognized in either case. I had no cell network at all. I downgraded to the last RUU and the sim card was back, the first OTA worked as well, and again on the last OTA I get the same sim card error. I'm in Germany with a verizon rezound I bought in the states, if that matters. Please help....

How to get to "Enter Unlock Code" screen, when running Lollipop 5.1?

Hi all,
I have a Huawei Mate 2 from Freedom (Wind) Mobile. I have updated it to Lollipop 5.1 by unlocking the bootloader. In fact I made a guide for it a while back.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-mate2/general/guide-step-step-wind-mobile-canada-t3387490
Recently in Canada the cellular service providers are forced by law to give us an unlock code for free. After unlocking the phone would work with any service provider. This phone has a pretty big battery and would be ideal for a travel or backup phone.
I successfully got an unlock code from Freedom (which was pretty easy). I then put in sim cards from another provider (Koodo, Fido, etc). However the screen for me to enter the unlock code never popped up. It just say "no service".
I tried to manually set it up, by clicking the notification. "No Service: Selected network (Telus 3G) unavailable". However it won't register. Neither did the unlock code entering screen ever pop up.
And under data settings it say no SIM card. However the phone works perfectly when I insert my Freedom SIM card. But when a foreign SIM card was inserted it just say no SIM.
My question is has anyone been able to unlock this phone under Lollipop 5.1? How did you get to the "Enter Unlock Code" screen?
I also wonder if anyone has any luck unlocking with the original Android 4.3. If someone did, maybe I should flash the phone back to its original OS.
Thanks in advance!

SIM locked on international model after modem

I'm now SIM locked after flashing a modem and can't figure out how to reverse it. I have the international model and it was never SIM locked before (a week after available). I flashed RR and couldn't get it read my SIM card so I flashed a modem. Didn't work so I restored a backup (strangely only gives system and data option) and now it shows optimizing apps every boot and says I am SIM locked. Any ideas?
I have this problem also its asking for PUK ive tried 2 different sims with there codes not working

Phone displays "Network Locked SIM Card" Inserted after flashing a stock firmware

Phone displays "Network Locked SIM Card" Inserted after flashing a stock firmware
I recently uninstalled Magisk, and was able to only boot into download mode after. So, I downloaded a stock firmware for my s9+ 965f and flashed it through odin (using AP,BL, CP, CSC(didnt select HOME CSC). But after rebooting, the phone displays "Invalid SIM. Network Locked SIM Card Inserted".
It asks for PUK code to unlock the phone and the cellular service alone is not working now. My phone is already region unlocked and I have been using it for the past 8 months. Has anybody got this issue and any suggestions on how to solve it?
Previous OS: soldierx rom for 965f v12 on Oreo
What I did,
i) uninstall all modules in magisk,
ii) uninstall magisk,
iii) phone auto-reboot
iv) Now phone stuck in download mode. Cannot boot it
v) downloaded stock firmware G965FXXU2BRGA
vi) flashed through Odin(AP,BL,CP,CSC)
vii) Phone completely formatted and boots up.
"Error:Invalid SIM card inserted. Network Locked SIM card detected "
I am now being asked for PUK code or cellular service wont work
You need to contact your carrier for PUK code, its protective measure against too many wrong PIN attempts on specific SIM. Can't fix that with any flashing.

This is where the problem is. You put any sim card in that phone, you get the same error. The sim card works fine if I put in any other phone. I am not sure but unistalling Magisk has caused "SIM Card Read Error" in my S9+. I even upgraded to Pie from Oreo and flashed 3 different stock firmwares but the sim card error exists.
 @topjohnwu
I would appreciate if you can help me on this. Not sure how to fix the issue
Looking up the error message itself points to some sort of network/carrier lock. If I am reading regional lock and carrier lock definitions correctly the two are not the same..
Did you have the phone network unlocked or was it network unlocked when you had root installed? If the device was network unlocked when it was rooted and you flashed back to stock (which removes root) this might explain what is going on...

This is an unlocked phone. I had magisk installed and when trying to uninstall it to upgrade to latest magisk, the device wont boot except download mode. So, I downloaded stock firmware and flashed it. Once I boot up with the new stock firmware, I get this error
There is some sort of lock on the phone, which is why your being asked for the code.
I think you should definetly try was what was suggested above.. trying to contact the carrier and see if they can give you the PUK code. If I recall correctly you get a few tries to enter it correctly before it won't let you anymore (and it might lock the phone up good or damage the sim)
I'm having a similar issue on a Verizon A50. Any progress?

depending on what method was used to unlock it, its likely no longer unlocked. some sellers of unlock codes neglect to mention that part. im betting its locked again
