I updated my T-Mobile Note-8 to Oreo (CRC2) via OTA update. Ever since my "camera keeps stopping" after taking a pic.. Anybody else here with similar experience?
Things I already tried:
1. Cleared system cache, did NOT work.
2. Cleared camera app cache/data, did NOT work.
3. Cleared gallery app cache/data, did NOT work.
4. Changed to internal/phone memory storage (in the camera settings), did NOT work.
5. Tried safe mode & camera still crashed, did NOT work.
Quick google search says many other people are facing this issue (different devices). I'm surprised there is NO posts here asking about this...
My only option at this point is to do a complete factory reset. But I hate doing that because of all the setup steps involved in making it behave correctly (as I like it).
Any help appreciated.

I had Samsung Experience Home keep FCing on me. Had to do a reset. Sucked. 1 other thing you might want to try is to go into Recovery mode and clear the cache there...and see if it helps you. (didn't work for me).

Yeah, that's what I did in step 1. Didn't make any difference, camera still crashes...
I guess factory reset and setting up the device from scratch is my only option at this point.
Can anyone please post a working version of the stock Samsung Camera APK that works on Oreo (CRC2)?
Help appreciated... Thanks

From JaguarXT inn another thread. Maybe this is why:
" Just be aware that there are problems with the current Oreo version for the Note 8. That is the reason why T-Mobile stopped sending out that version of Oreo Android to Note 8 devices right now. The last I heard of is that Samsung went to Google for help on the problems. So both Google and Samsung engineers are working on this.
You might want to wait until they send a version of Oreo Android for Note 8 that has the problems fixed."
I took the Oreo update the day it was pushed. I immediately factory reset and everything, including the camera, works perfectly. For the other Note 8 variants that recieved Oreo, and had problems; a factory reset fixed 99.9% of the issues.

Factory Data Reset is where my problems began. That end up Samsung telling this information and wanting to flash me back to Nugget until they fix this issue.
I was on OTA CRC2 Samsung stock Oreo.

Yeah, I had to factory reset as well... I used SmartSwitch to backup the phone on to my external SD card and then factory reset, wiped clean & installed CRC2 using Odin and then restored using Smart Switch app.
It sucked to do things all over again, but the phone seems reasonably behaved again!

PLEASE HELP!!
I installed the Alpha-X ICS ROM for Evo 3D. The problem that I'm facing is that it keeps re-booting to "No Service" state.
I've already tried toggling the "Airplane" mode method - the moment I turn Airplane mode off, the status bar shows that I'm connected to Sprint but within a second starts rebooting (showing the ICS start up screen animation) and goes in a loop for 5-6 times and then ends up back with "No Service" state.
Please help as I really like this ROM. I am a newbie here, hence XDA doesn't allow me to post directly to the Alpha-X thread.

Hello,
How did you flash this ROM? Are you on HBoot 1.5?
If so, you will need to re-flash this ROM using Fastboot (PM Me if you cant find the instructions)
Yes, I'm on HBoot 1.5 and flashed it using Flash GUI.
I was earlier using ClearROM.
Update: I guess, i realized the problem - during the first time I had flashed this ROM, I had cleared all data & cache 9basically factory reset). It had worked fine.
Once in, I used Titanium backup to restore all my app data (including system data)... I guess that system data is causing this issue. I re-did the entire process (factory reset & flash) and now it's working fine.
I'll go ahead and try restoring only user app this time and update back.
This just proves my "Noob"ness, I guess

I just wrote a post about this lol. Yes, it is only the system spp/data that will cause the issues. You shouldn't have problems restoring all of your user apps and data. I am running ALPHA X with all of my apps and data restored through TB with zero problems.

LOL....restoring system data can cause all sorts of hell for you as Bamba1260's already pointed out and you've already figured out the hard way, and there's nothing wrong with being a "noob" either, but keep in mind if you're looking for a stable and fully functioning phone or prone to freaking out when something goes wrong.....this is after all an ALPHA (experimental / for testing and bug reporting purposes only) rom. Indeed it is a very good alpha state rom, but things are likely to and should be expected to go wrong with it periodically.

Yeah.. that's one more thing I did realize.. but was so enamored by the ICS ROM that I wanted to "taste" it one way or other..
Anyway, since I'm not done with my first 10 posts, I will have to post this bug(?) here for everybody's FYI that the GPS doesn't seem to work with this ROM.
So, know before you jump...
P.S. I still love this ROM - one of the smoothest that I've tried.
im on stock dxlp7 via kies. last time it was working was when i switch on the wifi and got stuck (known issue). because i can't wait, i rebooted it by holding the power button and use feature there.
during boot-up, i saw the upgrading OS as if it was a new upgrade to 4.0.3. then there all apps started to force close. only few apps work and mostly are those that come preinstalled.
im doing backup as of this writing and saw one thread that wiping the cache fixes it. i hope wiping the cache really fixes this. created thread because the other was was on 2.3.x. this one is on ICS.
what went wrong with my phone? is this a known issue? i can't find that much info on this.
Do a factory reset.
i first tried to wipe the cache. didn't work.
i did factory reset so far its working fine. no other apps yet except preinstalled.
what went wrong there?
Honestly, that's really hard to say. Something has obviously corrupted some system apps/files by the sound of what you're describing.
Important thing is you seem to have fixed it. See how you go as you start reinstalling your apps.

so far nothing weird happening. installing the apps is ok. configuring one by one sucks.
Hi all,
Please, please, please can someone help me.
I have a Galaxy S3 i9300 and have installed [ROM][AOSP][JB][4.2.2][JDQ39] SuperNexus 2.0 - I9300 - BUILD 4 [03-04-13]
I absolutely love it, the battery drain is minimum. 4 hours with 90% remaining, astonishing!
I have one major problem, when I launch the Camera my screen goes black (i.e. the Camera APP launches) and the phone instantly resets!
I have tried a different Camera.apk but the same thing happens.
I have re-flashed the ROM several different times trying everything I can think of, deleting Cache. Dalvik Cache and deleting Data/Factory Reset, Formatting System, Formatting SDCARD then installing from External SD, everything I can think of with the same result. The ROM runs beautifully just the Camera Resets the phone every time.
I hope that someone can help me as I really want to use this ROM but no camera is a Deal Breaker for me.
Oh I have tried a few other ROMS like crDroid, ParanoidAndroid, Slimbean, STOCK obviously but none of those suffered this issue.
If I can't resolve this is there any other ROM like this I should try?
Thanks in advance for your much needed help.

As the rom chef for help, probably a framework issue in the build.

I have the same issue as mentioned above. Launching the camera (even through Instagram or other apps) resets the phone. The flashlight app also resets the phone. Is there any method to solve this issue?
I do not have access to post on the Development forum. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks.

I know there have been a lot of issues for those attempting to pull an update.zip and the entire file becoming corrupted.
I would venture a guess that this is some type of "security" attempt either from Google or Samsung to stop those from doing so.
(Lollipop brings added security features like an activation lock)
I attempted to pull this zip myself and that data was corrupted. But wait! There's more.
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this.
I cleared the cache upon updating to the new software. No issues
Used CF Auto Root to root my device and worked fine. Albiet with normal bugs.
Cleared cache in recovery and device crashed upon booting up.
Hard reset and cleared all and device works fine.
Now to test I cleared the cache after reinstalling NK4, and downloaded the update again.
Cleared cache and everything was fine.
Rooted phone via CF AutoRoot again. Phone working fine.
Cleared cache... Same exact issue again.
So... anyone else see the same issue? Or have any insight on the added security issues.
(I fix phones at said carrier. Internal memo warned us of security issue with activation lock from Google.)

Instead of using cf, just odin twrp and flash supersu. No problems going that route.
Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Free mobile app
Definitely a good way to go. I only wonder if the added security in Lollipop is causing a lot of these issues.

I am trying to factory reset my P9000 but it does not seem to do it fully, it leaves my accounts, wifi settings, wallpapers and most apps in tact. I have tried it three times so far with the same result.
I have done one OTA update since having the phone, will it only take it back to that and how it was set up then?
It is on build number 20160810, kernel version 3.18.22\[email protected] #1.
Thanks,

I had the same issue. I ended up re-flashing the rom via SP flash tools, that way it re-installing the rom and deletes all user data.
