Problems with having apk file - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good evening :fingers-crossed::victory:
There is one application called AMA Perfect Body Diet which I loved to use in 2013-2014. Sadly, it comes only in .jar or .jad extensions. I searched for so long and found only one link where these jar/jad files are provided - at wapcuy.com/data/file/3203/Samsung-Games-AMA-Perfect-Body-Diet-Screen-240x400-jar.html
I tried to get an .apk file using Netmite Get APK tool and got an apk file. When I open it, a screen pops up saying I need to download Java J2ME Runner which I did. Afterwards I open the apk file again and the text in the app says "This application cannot run in landscape mode. Please switch back to portrait mode". When I press the screen, the application music starts but the text does not disappear. I tried switching modes but nothing changes.
Can you please help me?? I am desperate for answers and I really need this application Searching for help :crying: It would mean the world to me if I would get this app back again

[Q] Sideloading Archiving and Unarchiving?

I've only started trying to sideload after only being rooted with the CWM Root.. I've watched the tutorials from Albert on Youtube and have read numerous posts on here on sideloading, If I'm only missing a program or something I'm gonna be a little embarrassed but right now I can't seem to get any APK to install on my NT..
So far I have downloaded the ES File Explorer, I've sent my APK files over to a file that I have created to store them and have tried to open them using the ES File Explorer, and I keep getting the same error ("Unable to Install" This application was not able to instal on your device. Please "Archive" and then "Unarchive" the application to try again.) Then my APK file is no longer on my tablet.. I have to reload it from the PC and try again.. with the same results.
Also I have tried the download method for the APK files in which he showed with the same error and results..
If you have seen this and is easy I applogize for the incovenience, but I have been unable to find this on the forums..
Thank you Much..
You are opening it with the wrong package installer, B&N has their own package installer, and it's being opened with that instead of the Android one.
The bigger problem is once it's viewed as "incompatible" it's deleted by B&N's so it would need to be put back on the device.
Your default may be set incorrectly if you don't get a prompt to ask which package installer.

That would make sense that I'm opening it with the wrong installer. Where am I going to find the other package installers and set them as my default??
Also I've Downloaded APK installers from the Android Market and hae tried those as well but getting incompatible errors with those as well..

[Q] Quick way to register new file types?

Hi there!
Have searched all over and found zilch about NON PROGRAMATICALLY adding file types to Android that actually works.
Does anybody know about an app that can do it?
The most logical to me was that File Expert or ES version could do it, but couldn't find it. And some links said that Astros could do it, but haven't found the feature in their latest version at least.
I just want to be able to click on the file and have it open the app without having to open the app first.
For example if I have an attached file in another apps storage space (outside normal file space) I can't open the main app first. And I don't want to have to download/import the file. Takes too long.
Thanks!
BTW-The app in question is SimpleMind, which unfortunately haven't had the good grace to register their file type for their own creation..

Editing APK - sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Help?

Hello,
I am trying to edit some graphic files inside APK so that after installing them on my S3 and pairing with my smartwatch it will display the same icons I'm using on my phone. To do that I used tools like app backup/titanium, then I transfer them to my PC. I use WinRAR to open APK, I use Photoshop to edit files I need, and then I put changed files back to APK, replacing them. Now, if I stop here the APK won't install on my device. Therefore I use APK Sign app that 'signs' the .apk . Sometimes the produced files install without problem, and sometimes I immediatly get an error message Unfortunately, Package installer has stopped.. Why does it stop? It works with some APK I edit (free or paid) but not with all of them. Please help!
Open the original apk with win rar and then copy the files that you edited this works
Sent from my Xperia Live with Walkman using xda app-developers app
it does - but not for all the apps i'm trying. for example third party apps works after changing icons, and the ones from sony (downloaded for free from play store) does not. it just doesn't install.

[Q] apk filetype not being recognized by APK OneClick

First off I will say this is the greatest tool I have ever came across and I am thankful for anyone that had hand in its production. The tool of course is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873466 and it has been working great for me. But earlier today I used winrar to open a com apk file and edit a specific txt file however I accidentally didn't un-click the "use as default program" box and now right-clicking and apk file will not display the decompile option or install to phone option any longer. I figured since the default program had been changed it was not being recognized by one click apk any longer so I deleted the default program for the apk file type in the registry and uninstalled then re installed the shellext for APK_OneClick however the right-click apk options still will not show. I can recompile folders to APKs but nothing else. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated and thanks in advanced it is driving me crazy.
I am assuming my problem is fro the whole winrar accident as the icon provided with OneClick no longer is displayed for apk files either I just can't solve the issue.
I have tried open file with whe right clicking apks and it will allow me to select the decompile file in the APK_OneClick folder manully but then after recompiling the disarm folder back into an APK it fails to install to the phone via USB and after moving it to the phone it has a parsing error. Any help on how to fix the right click problem or at least fix my parsing issue would be much appreciated. Thank you all!
