This is probably more an Oreo question than a V30 question. Anyhow, I'm aware of the introduction of the dot notifications, but I can't figure out what the dot on contacts is indicating.

Yes, search for the UOT (Ultimate Online Kitchen) in Google or perhaps even here for the link. Assuming that you are rooted with a deodexed ROM.

I cannot help with your issue but your GoSMS looks amazing. Is that a theme of some sort?
Thanks
Yeah, it's the machine city theme. It's on the play store

This is one of the things that I really don't like about iOS - the fact that the screen turns on and displays the message whenever it's received. No other Android phone I've used does this.
Is there any way to turn this off? I don't think it's in the settings; I've looked everywhere. Maybe a mod?
In the messaging app
Settings>notification settings>uncheck "screen on"

Thats really weird. I am on a custom rom though so maybe it was an edited sms app. what you could do is completely turn off notifications, download sms popup from the play store, and set sms popup to handle notifications. this has the added benefit of giving you a popup similar to cyanogenmod's messaging app. you would have to turn off screen on from notification in sms popups settings to get it working how you want.
Nice! That works perfect. Thanks

No Problem, glad I could help
The "screen on" option is only available from a custom ROM. I've since set up my whole device and I'm on the Hyper ROM which has the setting. I'm not sure why this isn't an option on plain stock, but at least I have it now.

Hi guys!
Do you have any idea or tweak for rooted phones that will hide the message preview from the status bar and notification area when an sms is received?
I know and i understand this can be done via 3rd party sms app but for some personal preferrence i'd like to use the default xperia sms app or hangouts.
Your thoughts are highly appreciated!
Cheers! ?????

Thanks for the suggestion but that would not definitely help.
If you are going to remove sms app or hangouts app from the notificagion you will no longer be notified if there an incoming sms or hangouts call.
