Hi!
i've just installed LineageOS 15.1 on my Moto Z Griffin. I've installed Titanium Backup to restore some apps, but as soon as I click on the app icon I get the message that Titanium Backup has stopped. I've tried to uninstal it and install it again, but with no luck.
I've seen this article, but I don't have the file "com.kermidas.TitaniumBackup-1.odex" in /data/app.
Did this happen to anyone else that got it working eventually?
Thanks,
Andrea
Bump.....
I've tried contacting the development team, but I had no answer
I know it's late now, but I just recently experienced this, the fix was as follows for anyone else who comes across this issue in the future:
1. Install a root file system app, navigate to and delete the following folder:
/data/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
2. Uninstall and re-install Titanium Backup
3. Vuala, Titanium Backup up and running again
@MrElectrifyer this method still works as of April 2021. I'm on LineageOS 18.1 thank you!
I found that folder under: /data_mirror/data_ce/null/0/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
But after several attempts, it didn't work for me.
Solved it by uninstall TB, wipe the folder, reinstall and then before starting again I had to grand specific permissions in the App Setting for: Files and Media + Contacts + Phone.
After that It works for me with LineageOS 18.1 and SM-A520F (Galaxy A5 2017)

Hi!
Didn't you accidentally delete the whole /data/data/Installed apps( /data_mirror/data_ce/null/0 ) folder?
Related
When I open it, press Backup/Restore I don't see any apps. All I see is:
Country, Language, Time zone
Wi-Fi access Points
Bluetooth Pairings
Accounts
Application Widgets
but nothing else. The apps I want to backup/uninstall is not shown.
I tried searching and google, but nada
Click "Problems?"
this happened to me when I switched a Rom before. not sure of which Rom but I had to find my titanium backup folder and place it into what was considered the new root folder. like I said I cannot remember which Rom it was that I flashed but the root folder was the default folder for my files app. hope that helps.
You can also try installing the recommended busybox Titanium uses.
Just to let anybody else know, I had the same problem and I used the BusyBox from Ti backup instead. That fixed it. I tried rebooting and restarting the app, but it needed a newer/different version of BusyBox to get the job done. I'm using a myTouch 4G with the stock, rooted, ROM.
I just cleared data and cache and that fixed it!
Hi,
I have about 120 user-apps installed which I installed through Titanium Backup Pro 5 yesterday. Now when I want to back them up again (new settings, new apps and so on) and go into the Batch restore/backup window it shows as if I haven't got a single app installed. It just says 0 everywhere in there.
I've tried deleting data and uninstalling, rebooted and installed Titanium again, nothing.
Switched back and forth with where the storage is kept (internal SD, External SD emmc).
- Running Cyanogenmod 9, nightly 23/4 (should tell you I've never had this problem before and have flashed every CM9 nightly since start Jan 1 2012).
- Gapps for ICS from 22 April
- Busybox 1.18.4 from app installed and OK
and
- SQLite also OK (Says Titanium Backup)
Where do I go from here?
You have a problem with an application which has its own website including links for support.
did u factory wipe???check ur titainum version is it 5?? wen u did a bckup was ur titanium version 5 or 4? does ur bckup folder in phone show empty or has apps??

Hi,
Yup, always factory wipe, wipe cache and Dalvik Cache when flashing a new ROM.
Titanium is version 5.0
I don't remember which version Titanium was when I last ran a backup. ~3 days ago.
The backup folder is full of backups, but they're from ~3 days ago, it's what I used to restore all the apps to this nightly version. It's just that I can't backup any more apps because Titanium says I don't have any apps installed!?
I've made a backup on both PC, emmc and internal SD.
Number of app data elements it says is 225, still shows nothing under "Backup", only under Restore.
I think you are confused, you have installed all the application from TB backup and all the applications are already backed up, then definetely it will show there is 0 application to backup...
if you want to make a fresh backup, move all data to your PC from Titaniumbackup forlder and wipe cache of the TB and try..
Update or reinstall TB then reboot .
jje
Got fed up.
Booted into CWM touch, format data, clear cache, clear dalvik
Reinstall CM9 25/4, reinstall Gapps 22/4.
Reboot.
Downloaded ES file explorer from Play. Copied everything from internal SD to "_Backup"-folder.
Installed Titanium Backup.
Copied my PC-basckup of the Titanium Backup folder.
Restored everything from Titanium Backup.
Now everything works fine again.
UPDATE:
Apparently it's Super SU that's causing Titanium Backup to go haywire. As soon as I installed that and let it become the main Superuser app it screwed up Titanium Backup.
Confirming and an easier way
I had the exact same problem and the culprit seems to be su elite which I had bought a week previous to discovering this.
You do not need to uninstall or reflash cmw. You only need to rename the backup file + delete Titanium cache and data from applications setup.

I've just had this problem crop up. I'm not using su elite. Complete wipe and flash hasn't helped. Renaming the backup file and clearing TiBU's cache and data does make the "number of data elements" report something other than "0." But attempting a backup of any kind shows 0 apps.
Luckily I am able to pull apps and data from my nandroid backup, but that's several days old, and it does nothing for the actual need of a TiBU backup.

What I did to resolve the same issue you guys were having was to rename the backup folder, create a quick back up of an app so the folder gets regenerated. Then plugged phone to PC and deleted the files with "squares" in the file name as other invalid characters in them (besides the a-z, 0-9, and symbols). Copied the old files to the new back up folder and all my backups are being read just fine.
I didn't even have to uninstall the app or clear it's cache or data.

Thanks. I ended up taking another route. I was on the same track you present, but I didn't do the step where you created a quick backup to generate the folder. I was copying the "cleaned" backup to it's original folder and that didn't work. So I pretty much started from scratch, and restored some files from the nandroid.
I'll certainly try your method if it happens again.:fingers-crossed:
Had the Same Issue..
Hi,
I Had the Same Issue, did the whole thing, uninstalling installing, removing TB folder, Removing TB folders from data/data, re-installing again.. didn't help..
The case at my end is that i saw only one app, and at TB main page, at the page headline i saw only that app name, so i tried pressing the search icon at the headline and searched for another app, it was found and the headline change as well to that app name.. so i searched again but this time did a general filter that would probably fit to all of my apps, and it worked ! all of my apps got back to the backup/restore list and to the group batch operation.
Hope this help someone..

I was pulling my hair out - this method was the only one that worked (I tried the others that were suggested). Relieved.
Search worked!
I had the same issue, and the search worked!
I just started a search for any app, once it found it all other apps reappeared at once.
Thanks!
Ok guys here's my problem on KK with a sdcard mod I was able to use TB no problems. Yesterday I installed a rooted version of 5.02(lollipop) onto my device. Everything appears to work perfectly and root is fine.
Now originally I thought TB could read/write to the original TB location on external sdcard but my morning schedules failed. OK i thought and after some research I found a setting in the the setting backup location to allow lollipop compatibility.
But what I have found since is only data seems to be getting backed up no apk at all :/
pics attached show what i mean
pic 1 is what happened to an app I tried to backup in lollipop
pic 2 what the apps should look like taken in KK
pic 3 shows PSN app backed up in lollipop
pic 4 shows the backup of remote play taken in KK
Have I missed something in a setting or is lollipop screwing me around?
Any help would be grately appreciated, Ive been unable to find anything like this in google searches and I wanna get it ironed out before making anymore backups.
anyone?
Tried mount name space in SU settings but made no difference Still not sure whats screwing up.
To anyone using TB on lollipop I'm assuming you used the "create rooted firmware" method of installation. But may I ask how u used TB to restore and currently backup?
Did u use a Premade backup zip for reinstalling or standard batch method from app?
Have you tried to make a backup of a user app since reinstalling, does it backup correctly with market link etc?
Did you have to change any SU settings or TB settings for proper function?
From what I can gather TB can't find the installation path of the apk so doesn't back it up and loses the market links etc.
EDIT: I appear to of solved the problem by using sd card fix on platform xml instead of using document provider in setting up the storage folder.
Hello ? I've same problem but I'm still unable to solve. Could please share how exactly you sorted out the problem. Thanks in advance

me too
On ti backup I changed the location where it found my backups (on SD) and used "Document Provider" since ti says it's recommended for devices 5.0 and up or something. After that you just have to select the root of your SD card (not ti backup folder) and then select the ti backup folder. I don't know why ti didn't do this by default since it knows what my android version is but now it works and I'm happy.
edit: btw I know it's an old thread but it was one of the first results on google so I'm replying here.
Hi, everyone,
I uninstalled some system apps by Titanium Backup and cannot restore them.
com.android.bluetooth 4.4.2
org.codeaurora.bluetooth 4.4.2
I didn't know system apps cannot be restored after uninstallation by Titanium Backup. Googling on the web and this forum didn't solve the issue. I need these apps to use a bluetooth keyboard.
How would you solve this problem? Thanks in advance!

Hi, thanks for your answer.
Can I use a stock ROM from a different model / android version?
For best results, use one for the same exact build version of the software for your phone. You will also need a root enabled file manager to place those apps in the correct folder and change the permissions to 0644. Once done, and you reboot, all should be working again.

Ok, I'm gonna suggest something else. You can always flash a new rom, rip from stock. But you can also do another thing. TiBU have some issue with restoring system app. Just go to the folder of Titanium backup & find the zip for the uninstalled app. Unzip it & install as user app. Use lucky patcher to move it to system.

This would only work if they had made a backup of it. Most people do not backup the system apps.

If that's true, really unfortunate scenario. But from his post, I assumed he have had made a copy as he said something about trying to restore.

I googled for the stock ROM or bluetooth system apps and unfortunately couldn't find anything. Bummer.
> Dexter_S
I searched TiBU folder in my phone and... the files below were found.
com.android.bluetooth-cce29368f45328b59af3e7203f22e149.apk.gz
org.codeaurora.bluetooth-cd34ccf08cce473926d3ffe3c8972ae8.apk.gz
Wow, why didn't I looked for them in the first place? I decompressed those files and got apk files then tried to install them by
Code:
adb install -r org.codeaurora.bluetooth-cd34ccf08cce473926d3ffe3c8972ae8.apk
But it failed with error message.
Code:
2476 KB/s (287076 bytes in 0.113s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/org.codeaurora.bluetooth-cd34ccf08cce473926d3ffe3c8972ae8.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INTERNAL_ERROR]
Googling the error message didn't help. Any idea?
Issue solved
The issue was solved by updating the firmware to 5.0 Lollipop.
I updated the firmware to D5503_14.6.A.0.368_1279-6214_R3D.ftf (Xperia Z1 compact) by Flashtool and it worked!
Thanks for everyone who helped me.
FYI - Your previous issue with the installation of those files was because you did not follow my recommendation to install via root explorer and setting the permissions. You can not install system apps with that command, only normal apps that would be located in /data. Glad you got your issue straightened out though.
SOLVED
Hey guys,
I'm trying to restore my previous Titanium Backup configuration on my Note 8, on which I just clean-installed the latest DevBase ROM. Normally, I just backup the following folder in order to save Titanium Backup's configuration for later restore, then after the ROM is installed, I restore the folder, install Titanium Backup and everything is restored:
sdcard\data\com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup\settings\
However, for some reason, the latest version doesn't seem to be restoring from the backup. Any suggestions on what to do to fix it? Really need this my configurations to quickly restore my Note 8 back to normal. Thanks in advance.
Haha can't believe I'm not the only one. Was already buzzing authors but for now no reply. Up until now that always worked. But now since yesterdays flash it doesn't any more. I've been trying to make it work since then without any success. Is your ROM PIE based?
What's even worse for me, i also tried cleaning everything and fresh install TiBu without any settings. I've made a new label, attached an app or two to that label. Then I selected in preferences I want to sync settings, TiBu created /sdcard/data/com.kermidas.TitaniumBackup with corresponding files. After I uninstall and reinstall TiBu first nice surprise is that it force closes. It will not work until I delete /data/data/com.kermidas.TitaniumBackup, after that program starts but it never restores it's settings from /sdcard/data/com.kermidas.TitaniumBackup
I've tried few PIE roms and never managed to find a working sollution. Thinking of going back to Oreo just to test this out then to scream at TiBu makers if it suddenly decided to crap on us. Oh I've also tried old tibu versions. even cracked ones, since I do posses original bought key for TiBu.

Yeah, experienced EXACTLY the same issues. I figured out a solution to the problem though; on first install of Titanium Backup, DO NOT OPEN IT YET, instead, MANUALLY grant it its app permissions via Settings > Apps > Titanium Backup, place your settings folder in the com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup folder like normal, then launch Titanium Backup. Here's a detailed step by step process:
1. Ensure you still have a proper backup of the Titanium Backup settings folder, then uninstall Titanium Backup AND Titanium Backup Pro Key (if you also purchased it)
2. Install a root file system app (like Total Commander) from the Play Store, launch it, and navigate to and delete the following folders:
/sdcard/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
+
/data/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
AND (if you also purchased it)
/data/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackupProThis will ensure you start off like it's your first time installing the app, and will avoid any crashes due to whatever conflicts.
3. Restore your backed-up Titanium Backup settings folder to the following directory:
/sdcard/data/com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
4. Re-install Titanium Backup (and Titanium Backup Pro key, if you purchased it). DO NOT OPEN IT YET!! Otherwise, you'll have to repeat steps 1. to 3. above
5. Navigate to Settings > Apps > Titanium Backup and manually enable its app Permissions (at least Storage, but I'd recommend enabling ALL of them like I did)
6. Vuala, now you can launch Titanium Backup, grant it SU permission, and it'll recognize the backup like it should
Hope that helps
