Worse transition animations after Oreo update - LG V30 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
just wondering if anyone noticed,
after the Oreo update I don't see as smooth transition animations as before,
it is easily visible when you set Transition animation scale in Developer options to 2x (for better demonstration) and then try to select app from recent list of app from background. The app should be selected in lower part of the recent screen for better effect... this animation of maximizing window is not very smooth...it's like jittering...
Didn't see that on Nougat...
Disable HW overlays (Always use GPU for screen compositing) option solved the issue, but I think it also drains a bit more battery.
I did factory reset and noticed it right after the first boot so it seems to be firmware related.

[Q] Android jerky notification pulldown

Hi all.
With every custom rom i flash on my htc one x i have this little but annoying problem: the notification dropdown animation is jerky. It doesen't happen in every situation. For example in settings screen it's very smooth, this issue is present especially on the home screen. Except for go launcer, on every other launcher the animation is very slow and laggy.
I post this here because i discovered that this "bug" is present also on other phones.
Have anyone found a solution?
It's annoyng and it makes the phone look slow and old
Another little thing: is there a way to disable the dim effect during notification pulldown? I think it can slow down the animation a little
Thank you very much

See if it doesn't help to either speed up the animations or turn them off.
Settings > Developer Options > Window Animation + Transition Animation + Animator Duration
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to help very much. Maybe disabling the dimming effect could speed it up a little, but i can't find anything about it.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Any other ideas? I tryed to download iNoty, and it's super smooth, but it makes the rest of the phone laggy (and it doesn't show all the notifications) LOL
I'm having this issue even on my galaxy nexus. Why is this issue present in an experience that is otherwise butter smooth?

[ROM ideas]

Why there is no rom yet that is able to update itself without entering recovery.
A rom that only needs a reboot to aply the update.
Could a rom not check for commits and replace changed files by it self and ask gently for reboot and do this maybe even by itself by time set by the user.
A rom where you can change whatever you like.
My idea is that there should be a cm rom where you can mod anything by longpressibg on it. Since alot roms come with customizations you might not need.
Imagine longpressing on audiofx option in settings and choose between cm audio fx/ viper/ dolby .... And even combine. Longpressing on performance settings and choose even an app you prefere. Totaly customize the whole settings interface by longpressing on any option and replacing such with options from other custom roms such as pac/rr/aicp/... Mixing them however we like, adding options to settings by toggling a settings icon in setrings menu. Sharing the settingsinterface with people all around the world by simply uploading a backup file created in the settings menu.
Any modification/update could be downloaded as a patch and removed again if you want to go back to stock version without a trace. Without being bloat.
Imagine the phone automaticaly uninstalling unimportant system apps such as calculator or stock music player when those are not used but allways ready to use (such apps would be shown in a separed app drawer and be reinstalled when the user tapps on its icon) and the app being backed up on a folder chosen by the user.
Imagine the stock launcher uninstalls itself when you dont use it but keeps a backup and restores itself when you uninstall your custom launcher.
We would only enter twrp for backups/flashing modems/ bootloaders and kernels.
More rom ideas:
Ram usage/cpu usage of each app shown in recents
Recents order by ramusage/cpu usage
A launcher where you can add screens aound the homescreen and not only left or right of it.
Imagine a invisible fps counter that comes with a kernel tuner that automaticly changes cpu/gpu freq to generate desired fps that you choose. And allot devs told me that is impossible and i think thats stupid because even gltools is able to save the fps as a log and apps are able to read logs so... It is basicly the holy grail idea since it could set cpu gpu so low when you are not gaming. If you leave an intense game It would detect that there is sudden fps increase and throttle cpu down. You could also modify the behaviour of this feature by setting how it should behave at a higher fps on lower cpu scales. For example automaticly limiting max fps to 20 and whike gaming 40.
For amoled screens an app that doesnt only simulate a filter by adding pixles to save battery but also having the function of turning the screen light off by reproducing a black picture on the screen withing fractions of a second and removing it again. This could also interact with the fps settings since it would adapt to the fps of the content. It would also recreat a smoother experience by showing that blackscreen between each frame (the frames would look less lasting because the blackscreen shortens its apearence)
A boot animation that looks like the first bootscreen is part of the animation.
Sound notification when wifi gets critical.
Cpu/heat or ram indicator as led light with pulserate indicating its speed and colour indicating how much cores are in use or how much ram is used combined with cpu indication.
Adaptive amoled backlight keeping energy usage of the screen allways constant. Darker contet brighter but instantly and precise in its function.
Share your rom ideas please
Thanks

Scrolling suddenly has micro stutters everywhere

I was totally happy with my G5, have it now since 4 weeks. Everything was perfect. But suddenly, out of nowhere, I have this weird micro stuttering (reduced smoothness) everywhere where I can scroll. In the app drawer (Nova launcher), in scroll lists like the app lists in the Play Store App, in the Settings menu, mostly everywhere, in Chrome too, in the notification bar when swiping it down. It doesn't happen always though but with a high chance. It's mostly hard to describe but I would say, that before it was always 60fps animations, and now it's not anymore. It's not totally broken (maybe 30-50fps), but not smooth. You can notice it really well when you scroll really slow with your finger up and down with a rhythmic interval and look at the screen animation how it stutters, it's no smooth animation like it used to be. It's especially worse in the settings gui when you slowly scroll down, the screen will stutter a few frames behind the animation time.
It's not rooted nor did I install any apps whats soever lately which could cause this. I even tried to remove some apps I have installed over the last days, with no effect. Tried to reboot of course too several times.
I am totally sure, that it was silky buttery smooth before this everywhere.

You can solve this by going to Setings/Developer Settings/ Tick "Force GPU Rendering"
My unrooted LG G4 is smooth because of this.
If U have root! Try L Speed / Trimmer fstrim / Entropy. try these 3 apps found on the Play Store.

Sadly that didn't change anything, I already had tried it before, because I knew that "trick". Also "Disable HW overlays" didn't change anything if toggled.
Well, its Android so you can always factory reset the device easily. You can also use LG backup to restore app data I think. Should be pretty painless assuming sync is enabled on your phone (google photos + account backup ..contacts calendar etc..).
Isn't your internal storage getting full?

Get ride of screen fade in

Hi,
Is there a way to deactivate the fade in animation when waking up the screen, i find it very annoying . I like it to be instantaneous.
I know is possible to reduce the speed animation in developer options but it does mess with other animations not only the screen wake up.
This annoys me, too. There is a slow fade in when hitting the power button to go to the lock screen and using the fingerprint sensor to go straight to the home screen.
I believe this is my only gripe with the device. My Mate 9 was instantaneous on both fronts.
you must ctivate "developer options" menu (it is hidden under "about phone", you can easily find instructions for activation)
and there you shall find the settings for all parts of animation (transition, etc); if you set them on zero, then everything will become instant-quick, no fade-in etc

As I said in my previous post, the problem when reducing speed animation is that other system transitions like multitasking and dropping notifications panel are also affected and look horrible.
I dont know why samsung dont offer the option of deactivating this annoying fade in

As far as I know sammy are the only ones to implement this "feature" in their smartphones ....
I would have switched to another phone juste because of that "feauture" but there are many good things in the s9+ that make me keep it.

Certain transition animations don't play

The two big ones are the animations that play when opening multitasking and when opening the keyboard. Instead of playing the animation, it just skips it. Has anyone had this issue?
Disregard this. I turned off Developer Tools and it went back to normal. I didn't change anything in the options to trigger this so I'm still a bit confused
Actually, I dont know why, but sometimes when you open the camera app it can trigger developer options and turn off animations for some reason.
Only on LG phones ..
