WiFi calling issue - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I purchased two US998 US Cellular branded phones and am having an issue with WiFi calling on one of them. What happens is that at least once/day the WiFi calling icon in the upper left corner will turn red, which I'm assuming is an error. This also causes the phone to drain its battery very quickly. It puts so much of a drain to the battery that when plugged into the stock charger the phone will lose power. It happened last night after I went to bed. When I put it on the charger it had 75% battery left when I woke up it only had 18% battery power left. This happens when I'm at work or at home so it doesn't sound like a router or AP issue plus it only happens on my phone and not my wife's phone.
Restarting the phone will fix the issue but this is only a temp fix as it will happen again. I am thinking about clearing the system cache but I cannot get into recovery mode. I do the vol down + power button, then release pwr and press again but it only brings up a screen to reset the entire device.
Disabling WiFi calling would be an obvious work around but I want to keep WiFi calling because where I work we have RF free zones where we cannot have our cellular data turned on and can only have WiFi calling enabled.

Issues with E3D, checking out an idea before i send it in

My phone has a few bugs that have existed from factory. First off, I can't power on my device with the charger plugged in. Second, the when I plug my phone in when it's off, it seems to studder when recognizing the charger: led comes on for a second, goes off, and comes back on. Third, it never fully charges. It goes to 99%, discharges until 95%, and repeats until I unplug it. It also won't power on until there is atleast 19% on the battery. Finally, when powered on, it randomly freezes/reboots even when not in use. It seems like signal strength plays a role in this, when I'm on wifi and leave range it restarts a lot, same with roaming and mobile data. I'm thinking the issue could be the battery, does this sound plausible or am I just trying to talk myself out of sending my phone in? Pre-root, and I did several factory resets, and and since I have tried everything from new roms to wiping battery stats. It's the most stable its ever been right now, running Magnus' "honeycomb" rom or whatever it's called.
Anyone????

Quick answer: Speaking from personal experience I'm using my own version of the stock sense ROM. The device should never randomly reboot. I use Wifi a lot and have a weak signal at home (have an airave to help out) and the EVO 3D has never randomly rebooted on me or locked up.
More detailed: I remember reading the device will usually show a max charge in the 95-100% range. I wouldn't be concerned with this read out after charging the device.
I haven't noticed the other issues you've experienced.
I would suggest returning/exchanging it for another model. The easiest way to return/exchange is by being able to duplicate the steps/actions which cause the device to freeze/random reboot.
Hope that helps!

Very fast battery discharge issue

I charged my S3 last night up to when it said 'unplug the charger' (100%) then I locked it and went to sleep (~2:12 AM)
When I woke up (~7:50 AM) it had like 47%, and its weird because the whole time it was 'locked', Mobile Data was turned off, Wi-Fi on, GPS off...
But I think wi-fi should not be an issue because my iPod Touch which was also 100% charged dropped barely below 95%
So, I think it maybe has to do something with Cellular Signal (signal in my house is very weak) so trying to connect to a tower uses a LOT of energy... so, is there any way to turn off the Cellular component temporarily without turning off the cellphone?
It sounds like a very random thing to do, but it bugs me that in some 6 hours half of the battery got discharged, even if the device was asleep.

Ah clever. Didn't think about Airplane Mode, hope it works
Its not like I need cellphone calls in my house at night, and its a ****ing bunker, signal is very weak there
Thanks awarded!
If signal bars are full then there is a problem in either hardware or software. First update your software or modem to another version if that didnt solved your issue then take ur phn and demand a through inspection

A problem with amaze 4G

I face a problem with my cell phone amaze 4G and I was wondering if someone kindly help me.
Actually, I was working with my cell phone after I charged the phone to 100%, suddenly it turned off and now it does not turn on. I tried to go into recovery mode (It's volume down, and long hold power button down right) but unfortunately it also does not work. None of it's LED turn on, even though it is under charge. It seems there is no electricity on it.
I should mention I have never rooted my cell phone and I bought it 10 day ago.

Try pull your battery out then put it back and see if your phone can boot. Or try a different battery if you have an extra.
I pull battery and I keep it away for 8 hours and after that I put it back again. Fortunately my phone turn on, but I faced another problem. Now my phone cannot connect to network. I mean, my phone does not have signal and it show this message “No signal”. I did a hard reset, but it have the same situation again…

Maybe you have to enter your apn settings
Don't know if it will work but worth a try. Power off your phone then take the SIM card out. Wipe the contact area clean (lens cleaning tissue is good) and put it back. Power on the phone and see if you get cell signal. Try it at different locations where you used to get signal. If still no go, you may have to contact your carrier about this issue.

[Q] S3 charging but not drawing battery power

I have this problem: youtube.com/watch?v=chvRbwgT9n8
Sprint Galaxy S3, unrooted, stock
Basically one night my phone would not turn on after the battery completely drained out. Put on charger but phone would not turn on. Did the spin test on original battery and it seemed busted. Ordered a new battery, put it into phone, charged for a few hours and have the same problem the above youtuber does. The battery icon looks identical (both the grey and ~90% one).
1) If phone is unplugged nothing happens, can't start into recovery/download/boot.
2) If phone is plugged in it will show grey battery icon for like 10s, then go to a green battery screen where it shows the battery is ~90% full. The red charging light stays on.
3) I can boot into recovery mode if the phone is plugged in but if I try to normal boot the phone it will 50% get to the S3 splash screen, vibrate, and then turn off, and then 50% of the time it will boot to the home screen but wifi and data will not work (the battery icon will show 100% at this point). After a few seconds the phone will vibrate, turn off, and return to the grey battery icon swirly and then back to the 90% green battery screen.
4) I've tried wiping cache and doing factory reset but doesn't seem to phase it.
5) Reflashing via Odin to stock doesn't fix issue.
Any ideas? It doesn't seem like the power button issue because usually in those cases the battery shows as low or it will be stuck in a constant repeating cycle. This just seems like the phone is not drawing any power from the battery. Thanks.

You posted this in the wrong forum, but anyway, try downloading an app that tells you the charging current going into your phone so you can see whether any power is actually going into the battery. Have you tried plugging it into different power ports around your house / using usb + computer to charge?

No, will try that.
Update: so it appears that the longer I leave it on the charger the longer I can use it while connected. The issue now is that Wifi and data will not enable, sound doesn't work, bluetooth doesn't work. I found someone else with _exactly_ the same issue who had a weird fix:

OK, Czech this out, I took my sim card and SD card out of the phone and tried to start it, and guess what? IT FREAKING CAME ON!!! It obviously wont function without the SIM card, and it prompted me to turn off the phone and reinstall the SIM, but after doing that, it started right back up like it was new.SO EVERYONE GIVE THAT A SHOT. We'll see if it gives me any issues.

The problem for me is that the Sprint version doesn't have a SIM card and I'm not using a SD card. Is there any reason for this madness?

It sounds like you might need to flash a new modem. I'm not 100% sure though since I don't own the phone, you should post it on the Sprint S3 forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-sprint/help

Unusual battery drop. Will not charge or change battery from 20%. Phone unresponsive.

Long story short. Another Z compact down. This time it's my Z5C.
Unrooted Z5C E5823. I flashed some marshmallow from xperifirm (build 32.2.A.5.11) some 8 months ago...
Description of events:
Just finished texting. Turned screen off. I go to turn it on again but the phone turned off, because pressing the power button doesn't do jack. Long press it and doesn't turn on.
... great.
Volume down + power button and it turns on after 3 vibrates. Battery level plummeted from ~70% to 20%. So I just put it on a wall charger and wait.
Some 20 minutes later, I'm surprised to see that the phone is still at 20%. So at this point I'm sure something is very wrong and I start browsing for solutions. Nothing worked.
The only thing I didn't do is a factory reset. But I seriously doubt it's a software problem.
So I say "screw it" and I unplug it from the charger and start using it normally. At some point the phone turns off on itself so I have to do the volume down + power button combo again. But this time, alas, it doesn't work either. So I try the little yellow "off" button on the SD bay + holding power button. This time the phone vibrates 3 times. Then I turn he phone on again. But this time it turns off after some 40 seconds. Then it began a short power on/off cycle and then remained off. Won't turn on. Like if it was hard bricked. I fiddled with the yellow off button while plugged in on the charger and it turned on again but still won't go past or below 20%. Ever.
I remove it from the charger and go home from work. Phone is unresponsive. PC doesn't recognize it. No key combination works. Charger and key combinations don't do jack. But THEN out of the blue, I sense 3 very faint vibrations (i just kept trying to power it on, I wasn't giving up ) and now the phone is on again. Battery at 20%, obviously. Service menu doesn't have a battery test anymore. How convenient... Battery usage menu is always the same when I turn it on. PAst history is gone, app % use are all the same ratios.
I'm trying to backup my data now. But at the meantime. Phone is on and still stuck at 20%.
So, is the battery dead? Wth is going on?
i have smailer problem
my phone wont pass the 90% . also after factory rest (stock rom\kernel\no root\lockedBT)
still, im not sure 100% is my batt i think is started from android 6 (now im at 7)
also my phone wont pass some voltage also (4.300) was 4.350 when the phone was new with 5.1.1
but in QC2 quick charger its 4.308volt max with 92% so i dont know whats goin on:|
hi,
I had same problem somes weeks ago.
try flash new rom, phone stuck at 20% but seems to have same battery's autonomy .
after a week I changed the battery, now all works fine
I think this is the lithium controller that is dead not the battery itself .
Battery and turn off problem
My Device have charge (50,60,70 or more), unnexpected it show 0% and turn off.
Hardware problem maybe ???
