Tripod - Huawei P20 Pro Accessories

Hi all,
Anyone can recommend me a good and useful tripod for my P20 Pro? I've tried a fes but wasn't happy at all.

Do you mean a literal tripod? you could probably either make one if your crafty with 3d printing and had an 1/4" adapter, or the ones that use a vice grip as a one size fits all kind of thing.

Looking for a recommendation for a good car holder for a car with stiff suspension

I am looking for purchase a car mount/holder for my car. However, as i drive a sports car the suspension is very stiff and therefore I need something that will cope with a very bumpy ride (some of the UK's roads are terrible at the moment!). I also use hire cars frequently, so I need something that is interchangeable between vehicles and therefore can't go for one of the brodit models that is specific to my vehicle.
I received a PDA model specific, European made, heavy duty PDA holder for the HTC Touch HD, by Herbert Richter (http://www.pdahut.com/store/product.php?productid=21157&cat=2385&page=1), but this vibrates quite badly so it will be going back.
Therefore, does anyone have any suggestions for a very sturdy car holder that is transferrable between vehicles that will cope with the rigours of a GTi's very firm suspension?
Thank you, in advance, for your help.
Spudgun
My suggestion ...
I drive a 4 wheel drive car (Renault Scenic xR4) because i like to drive through easy mountain tracks from time to time and that's the combination i have. Probably it's not the best solution but i assure you my HD neve falled down and no matter about vibrations. Also, even when it's not the easiest, you can change from one car to another (i do by myself when taking my wife's car).
It's for placing into an air vent of your car.
Rgds,
Thank you very much for your suggestion
How easy is it to transfer between cars? as i had a really bad experience with one of these once and broke the air vent grille of a hire car trying to remove it

Hummmmmmmmmm ...
Difficult to say, but i never broke it and never broke any grille. ¿Perhaps i did 20 times? For me it's easy to remove it but ...
Rgds,
Get one of those suction cup things from ebay. It's decent quality. The only thing I needed to do to make it work well in the Miata is add some cushion on the bottom so I can rest it against the dash and prevent it from jumping up and down. They move from car to car easily.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Car-Windshield-...34.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|301:0|293:1|294:30
good sturdy support!
I am going to recommend you get a Herbert Richter Gorilla Mount coupled with a custom H.R passive holder.
It's a bit more costly than most other options, but does the best job! Since you can use interchangeable holders on the gorilla mount (eg. if you get a new phone, or a second device) it's a great cost effective option than the non-branded flimsy options normally purchased.
Despite what you may think, it does look 'great' on the windscreen!!

- RazzyUK.
Spud_work,
I purchased mine aboyut three months ago, its discreet and completely supports the phone wihtout blocking half of the windscreen

Hope this is of use.

I bought the one pictured below (12 Euros on ebay). Here is my opinion (of course I drive normal streets - I can't say how it does on extremely bumpy terrain).
The suction cup sticks really well to the glass (assuming both surfaces are clean, of course). At first, I was scared that the whole thing would loosen up and fall off, and so I kept checking it constantly, but it holds totally firm. Even when I go to take it off and I release the suction-lock lever, the remaining suction is still really strong.
The tray that holds the actual phone fits the HD well, and all buttons and ports are clearly accessible. I wish the phone would fit just a little tighter in the tray, but it is still fine. I never worried that it would "fall out" or anything like that. I suppose it's also good that it is not so tight that it could scratch the HD when sliding it in and out. The tray can also be easily removed and re-attached to the arm. Oh - and of course, the HD will NOT fit if you have any protective case around it (such as the silicone or hard plastic covers).
The "arm" part is easily bent and adjusted at the two joints, so you can set the HD at whatever angle you want in any direction. Once set to whatever angle, it will not loosen or bend on its own.
All-in-all, I'm very pleased with this so far and I would definitely recommend it. The user reviews I read for it on Amazon do so likewise.
I hope this helps.
Cheers!
Hi Chris Cross
As I am also in the market for a mount to use with my Touch HD could you just answer a few questions about this mount which you have:
1. is it fairly compact as the last thing i need is a mount that's in my face and completely overpowering the HD
2. are you still happy recommending it
3. is it easily changed between landscape and portrait modes
4. any chance of a link for it
Thanks for your help

Hey guys,
got my Herbert Richter Gorilla Mount today (it's actually the Banana Global 1 with the holder for the HD). I have to say that the quality is brilliant and the HD fits very well. I've ordered it yesterday at gps-haus.de and it arrived today. I payed 25euros (shipping included) which is absolutely OK. Anyone interested in pictures?

Yes, post some pic's of this strong holder...
I ordered this one from Brando yesterday.
For me, it has a great design, just iphone like and I used a similar holder for my former phone (Hermes).
I drive a sportcar myself and I have to say, that vibration could possibly occur because of the "thin" arm of the holder.
My old holder did vibrate at higher speed, like above 85mph (140km/h) but could handle strong impacts, like chuckholes, very well.

I have that one and I can confirm that it will shake constantly during driving, which can be seriously annoying. No matter if the road is silky smooth, it will simply shake even from the engine vibration itself.
I had a temporary solution by putting it rather low and using the dashboard as an additional support. This works just fine, so you're probably gonna want to do the same unless you want to get shake-sick from trying to read anything off the screen while driving.
In the end I decided to try one of the shorter car holders that has a stiffer and shorter arm. Will report when it comes in.

I would be interested in any feedback that you have with your new purchase, as i have tried the herbert richter gorilla mount and although that is better, there is still quite a lot of vibration. However, I do own the car with the word's stiffest suspension, so I probably shouldn't expect too much!
I got my holder (look 2 posts before) on friday and I was pleased by the wonderful 360° joint.
But like Rozenthal said, that thing shakes like nothing
It has a far too long arm, so that it can't hold our device in a fixed position.
So now, I mountet the holder plate onto my old, shorter holder (same construction) and I will drive this evening to a friend.
I will post my experience tomorrow!
The one in post #8 is stable. I'm happy with it.

Is there a UK seller for this? as my German isn't very good!
Didn't got the time to report back yesterday.
But I will give you my experience now:
I tried my old, shorter goose neck holder with the new adapter plate.
And it worked really well
It is stable, although i drive a car with sport suspension, so there are some strong impacts on the holder. If there is a very rough street, it produces a few vibration. But that stops very fast, because the holder is much stronger.
But if you need a very stable holder, take the one from post #8 which Chris mentioned.

^that's good feedback...I'm going to check that one out since I'm getting ready to take a long trip on all kinds of roads
eversince i got a brodit phone holder for my old ipaq 6515 from proclipusa.com, I have been using it for all my phones as I just add padding to the holder to accommodate the narrower phones.
however, for HD, with a silicon skin casing (I use capdase), I can just slot the phone into the holder w/o any modification. I kinda like brodit holder because they look 'OEM' (not cheesy universal holder you see elsewhere), at the same time, my ipaq holder could be reused each time I changed my phone with some minimal modification. I change my phone every 4-6 months so it'll be too expensive for me to get a phone specific phone holder.

Sports Armband, is there any?

Hi
Does anyone know if there is a sports armband for the wrist/arm that fits the TD2?
I have searched and searched, but haven't had any luck yet...
If anyone knows of one, I would be a happy camper.
Thanks in advance.
I've been looking too and fear gaffer tape might be the only solution...
Ok, maybe a bit extreme for your needs (I assume)

What I am looking for is a simple armband made especially for the TD2...
- but thanks for comming with a suggestion
Hi
I use a belkin iPhone one.
Works with my TD2 and my wife's Touch 3g.

Maybe something like this.

Why?
Why risk a £400 phone by strapping it to your arm when you can slip it in a pocket or secure belt case?
If you want mobile audio while out jogging or something, why not a small pouch with your phone safely stored in and a set of A2DP headphones? No wires at all, then.
If it's some obscure use, then I've no idea... I can't see their being much of a market for an arm-based mobile phone holder... Kind of makes it difficult to answer unless you plan on walking around doing an elephant impression!
EDIT: Or get an iPod Nano
VIVANCO armband for Iphone
I purchased this one from VIVANCO which is sold as an Sport Armband for Iphones. This was the best I could find for a reasonable price (12 Euros) and is very comfortable.

Erm perhaps because you want to do some exercise and you don't have suitable pockets? Nothing worse than having a phone bouncing around all over the place.
I use the band which came with my Motorola S9s. The phone fits in perfectly though it's very tight with the plastic case on.
You can make your own with a random armband and a diamond 2 silicon case.
I just got for myself this from Nike. Fits the TD2 perfectly.
http://store.nike.com/index.jsp?country=US&lang_locale=en_US&cp=usns_CSE_081109_Froogle&l=shop,pdp,ctr-inline/cid-1/pid-263183/pgid-286858&CAWELAID=377805278#l=shop,pdp,ctr-inline/cid-1/pid-263183/pgid-286858
for sure the sportsband that comes with the motorola S9 is most excellent fit for TD2.
Maybe with some luck it is possible to buy just the armband with ebay!

Griffin Stylus

I got one of these for Christmas and love it. No, I'm not affiliated with the company.
http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-Stylus-iPhone-touchscreens/dp/B0041D0K1Q
Great way to keep fingerprints off your shiny screen.
Doesn't look like it has a very fine point which would be the only reason I would want a stylus, for more precision... When I'm trying to grab something my steak fries are too big for..
It's got a domed tip that is squishy, so it's as precise as you want depending on pressure. The whiteboard app is the only thing I've ever seen that took advantage of a fine point and it works perfectly.
I iPad Touch came with a similar stylus. Works great. My wife got some from Taiwan that have angled rubber ends for about $0.50 a piece. They work pretty good too. Similar to an pencil eraser.
So far I haven't needed on on the G-Tab and I've got "huge" fingers.
Try it with multi memo
I have one and have used it, briefly, with an app called multi-memo for taking notes.
Those Chinese ones are so cheap. They are too light and you have to drag them across the screen minimizing accuracy. I bought it for Stickdraw, def. Not worth it. I think i'll try this one.
Is it kind of heavy or really light? I want one that's heavy like a pen.
The stylus actually has some weight to it and does indeed feel like holding a real pen, it looks and feels like a quality handwriting implement. You'd have to really work to damage the metal casing, it remains to be seen how durable the rubber dome tip will be.
Took me a few minutes to get used to the squidgy, bulbous tip but then I was navigating around, playing games with it and testing my handwriting in a paint-mode note in 'Note Everything'. If only I could find a notepad application with good handwriting recognition*, I'd be in hog heaven...
* One that actually recognizes properly formed characters, not abstract sets of strokes
I bought one of those cheap Chinese ones (3 pack for $6) and was really disappointed. Then I looked online for ways to make your own. I was familiar with using those antistatic bags from hard drives and computer components, but then noticed one method that uses a common household sponge.
I took an old metal pen I had that I really liked, but didn't have ink anymore and took the tip off. I then cut off a small cube of a new sponge (with my wife's permission) and "screwed" it into the spot where the metal tip was on the pen. Worked like a charm.
I tried it on everything from my tablet to my iPod and my phone and it worked great on everything. I playd around with the updated tablet optimized version of Autodesk Sketchbook Express and it worked out great!
There are lots of videos on YouTube of how to make them, but using a metal pen seems to be what looks best. Some of the others look terrible.
Here's a picture, in case anyone is curious. I may get a pack of a different color of sponges because I don't like yellow, but that's all my wife had at the house when I did this project.
I'm also going to retrofit those crappy Chinese styluses I got, as they have metal housings. Should work the same as the pen did. Just need to rip off the rubber heads and maybe drill out the insides to get the sponge to fit and make contact with the housing.

1/4-20 Tripod Mount for Nvidia Shield

Looking at buying a Tripod mount for the Shield Tablet but so far have come up with a lot of "Well it might fit"
to be more specific I'm looking to be able to do time-lapse video with my tablet via Framelapse pro
I've made some good video with it just by creative placement but I want to be able to aim the camera and not always be at ground level.
Cheep is not my first go to. I don't want to come back to my $400+ Tablet sitting face down in the dirt.
there are lots of tripod mounts for iPads ETC but none that seem like they would fit very tight.
I have used one with my Nexus 5 in the past but its retired now and its not large enough to fit the shield for obvious reasons.
If any of you have had any luck I would appreciate your feedback pros & cons etc...
I've been considering this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T7M2OY2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A35IHZ7558TFB2
I have no experience with it, but the reviews are good and it's cheap.
This one looks good, too. Better reviews and even cheaper:

Been looking at one similar to that one
http://www.amazon.com/Joy-Factory-U...33433081&sr=1-12&keywords=tablet+tripod+mount
But I am Afraid it would cover the camera lens. although I could just cut off the part covering it. :silly:
And this one.
http://www.amazon.com/i-Trek-Smartp...433433081&sr=1-4&keywords=tablet+tripod+mount
But I dont think it would hold up a tablet very well.
That second one looks like it wants to take big bites of the screen. Not so sure about that. As far as the lens goes on the other mount, I think you have a valid concern. I'd say that you could just drill out a hole but it looks like there would be a bunch of stuff in the way.

Leather Case W/Belt Clip

Greets All, I have been doing quite a bit of searches, but I havent been able to find a Phone case I bought of my Honor Note 8, it would fit the Mate 20x, so I am seeing if anyone might have run across anything like this, or if you do if you could let me know. The last time I picked it up from Amazon, but its no longer available. Here is what it looks like:

I just received this today and it fits perfectly with the Huawei kickstand case. I bought a couple of other cases but this one fits the best so far so those other ones are going back.
https://www.amazon.com/Yuzihan-Holster-iPhone-Defender-Battery/dp/B07FYBZ3RT
Here's more pics
Nice But I am also looking for the swivel clip. I just ordered two from amazon we'll see if they will be big enough. I already have a leather one thats horizontal except the belt clip is a pain to get on my pants. I'll post the ones coming in if they work.
I found a few that I wanted to share with everyone in case anyone is interested:
This Case:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HDCTWQ9/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Will work with no case, the clear case Huawei provides, and works with the following case:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dooqi-Luxu...var=532520095938&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
And possibly my guess and slim design case.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HCL6M2C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This one works without a case or the clear one provided by huawei, will not work with thick or rugged cases.

thank you for the clarification I wasn't sure if you were simply recommending these after having done some research or whether you had actually tried your phone in some of them. I assume then that the flap has some flexibility to permit the slightly longer length of this phone.

No Problem, I wouldn't have posted them if I didnt try them. And yes there is a little play with the flap. I do have two more leather horizontal cases that work also, but dont have swivel belt clips and I have for emergencies when the belt clips break on the swivel ones. I'm pretty rough on them.
I just bought this

And I just bought my Mate 20 X.
All of them should arrive next week. At that point, I'll let you know how everything fits with pictures and words and everything in between (...is there anything in between?).
I found a horizontal leather belt holster in which the Mate 20X fits really well (even with a case on the phone).
Here's my setup.
