Hello Everyone,
I am using redmi note 4 Snapdragon version miui 8.10.0 MCFMIDI. I want to connect my device to Toshiba 1 tb hdd.
A few days back I was able to connect my device to Toshiba 1 tb hdd but now I am not able to connect now. I am able to read the contents with es file Explorer by cannot write on hdd.I am using stickmount app to connect. I have already transferred approximately 100 GB of data directly from my phone to 1 tb hdd without any difficulty. There is also no power problem as many complain. Toshiba takes 900mah power which is what a 64gb or more USB drive takes. I can connect my 64GB USB drive which is formatted in NTFS format and I am having no difficulty in transferring copying the files but in external hard drive I am unable unable to connect now.
My device is rooted.
Kindly somebody help.
Thanks

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device.

[ SOLVED]
There was no help from anybody. I solved this by myself. I am posting very late (SORRY FOR THAT).
There is this thing you have to keep Documents in Settings Enabled.
1, Go to settings /Installed Apps /Documents /Now Enable it.
2, You have close all apps then Clear Ram Now open ES file Explorer Now connect the 1tb Hdd to the phone through USB Now there will be a pop up asking to open the file One will be ES file Explorer or may be another Explorer and other will be Stickmount app open only Stickmount app not any file Explorer the Stickmount app will start working and give you notification that the hdd is now connected Now open already opened ES file Explorer you will now be able to transfer files. Es file Explorer will not show the real size and free size but it's in working condition. ENJOY
If you can afford please purchase the Stickmount pro version. We should appreciate the developers and if we can afford then definitely buy the app.
I think some apps are very necessary for all Android user's and we should purchase the app if affordable.
I Have transfered a total of more than 200Gb to my 1tb hdd only by my phone.
IMPORTANT - Its highly advisable that you disconnect Mobile data and Calling Switch to airplane mode because when the data is being transferred any notification can disrupt the transfer and there will be another problem it will stuck in middle then another problem arises you will not be able to connect to hdd again. Now you have to find a PC and connect the hdd and do file repair usb which is asked in PC automatically. I had this problem and suffered a lot gave lot of time and energy tried to find Android apps to fix this but not found it.
Hoping somebody will benefit from my problems

I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S T959 2.1 of TMobile
I have installed on my computer samsung drivers for mobile and Kies.
My computer is using Win 7 32-bit
Everyday, I plug the cable into my PC and choose Mount, after that I copy data from PC to Samsung normally
Today, when the cable attached to the PC, then select Mount, also appears that 2 drives H & I but I can't copy data to SamSung. When I copied, the PC alert :
Copying
Discovering items.....
Time remain : Calculating
Data Transfer : Calculating
How then is run from morning to noon without the copy is complete, although I only have a 1MB image file. Reset your computer and the SS, but still the same error.
So my computer is corrupted or SS that you failed? I try to connect your computer with the N95, the copy machine is normal.
please help me how to I can copy data normally ?
i had a problem copying files to my vibrant, I formated my internal 16gb memory and it fixed the problem.
i think its
settings>sd phone storage>format.
I would uninstall kies. I never use it. After you do that plug in the phone and you should then use the top pull down menu and it will have a connect usb icon and button. hit that it will then say connected and it will open 2 folders F and G or something like that one is the internal sd and the other is the external And do what the posting said format the external sd card if it is new or you have not yet. you can do it on the computer it would be fat-32 ONLY
If you have wifi you can use the app Wifi File Explorer. Costs about $1 for the Pro version. I use it all the time for transferring files. Very easy and works great. You access your phones storage using your PC web browser. No cables, no problems.

Thanks! I just tried that App. It works great. It doesn't seem to see my MicroSD card though, only the internal memory shows up (on my Vibrant).......unless I am missing something.

Shows up on mine. Look for the sd folder. If you see "Up To Parent Directory" at the top of the directory list click on it because you're not at the root directory level. From root you should see sd/.
Hi
I had some really strange issues with my SD card files and I was wondering if anyone could help.
Let's start with the start .
I'm running a GB ROM (OneDroid GB06) with Franco's kernel from 02 oct. Using a 16Gb class 6 SD card from A-Data. Partitions made with CWR version 3.1 (I think).
Anyway the problem is like this. I am using my phone as a voice recorder with AndRecorder Free from the Market. Usually record 10-15 minutes (up to 15MB) interviews and sometimes I record like 10 of them without downloading them to the PC. The problem I had was that after I recorded a few of them, when I connect the phone to PC with data cable, I can't see the recorded files in Explorer.
At first I had an issue when connecting the phone in USB storage mode it told me that I had some errors that had to be fixed. I could not see the files I needed in explorer and after dissconnecting from PC the files were gone from OI File Manager as well. I was however able to find them in the LOST.DIR.
I took the card out, put it in a card reader, backed up my files and did a full format and put all my files back. No more "need to fix" messages when connecting to PC, however I still cannot see the files that I record in Windows Explorer while connected in USB storage mode. In Oi File Manager I can see them, play them and even send to Dropbox via WiFi. Or if I take the card out and put it in a reader I am able to see them in Explorer as well.
Anyone has any idea about this? Kernel or ROM issue?
I used the same program (AndRecorder) before on 2.2 and I'm using it on another O1 running official 2.2.2 and never had a problem like this.

Few times the same problem happens to me I am using a sandisk 4gb SDHC card and i clicked some photos from the camera and those photos were visible in the gallery but when i connected to usb storage on computer, photos were not visible... I'm also using FRANCO.KERNEL for gingerbread 2oct but with stock ROM..
First - install Root Toolbox or Dual SD mount widget and try double-mounting the card when connected. If it fails try copying the parent folder to PC or try to list via typing (Should be on the sdcard directory you store the files) dir /a:h or dir /a:s in cmd (Should be your last hope, though).
Otherwise, try setting up a FTP Server and make sure the card is using a FAT32 file system.
Ianis, thanks for the solution, but I just want a way to make it work as it should, not to try and go back in DOS mode just to copy some freaking files.
Did you try:

Try fix permissions in CWM. If that is not helping, use Root Explorer an check file or folder permissions. Also try to swich between R/O and R/W modes.

Hi,
If this has been asked before i apologies but i've searched, used google, and never really found the answer i'm looking for.
I have a nexus 7, OTG cable, flash drive and stickmount installed. As an external storage device this works fine for movies, audio etc.
I'm not experienced with android having only previously used it on my touchpad, and wondered if the following was possible.
Is there an app that can essentially clone the externally mounted USB drive so that when installing an app with a large data download i can choose to download the data to the externally mounted usb drive instead of the main device memory. An example, Spiderman has nearly 2GB of data and i would prefer to move it using an app rather than having to continuously move the data file from the root to the external USB using es file explorer.
Many thanks for the help

well but the built in file manager still doesn't support it, I wanted to be sure.
for me works a 500gb drive without external and a 2tb with external power. could be a power issue if its without external
Doesn't the device have to support OTG? I never saw the note 3 to be advertised to support that.
2tb its a heavy load and redmi note 3 did not support admin please close this thread

Thread is old but: - Stickmount plus maybe Radon Kernel will allow access to NTFS Drives.
As long as the phone can power the drive or the drive has it's own power.
Not sure if Radon is needed but that is my setup!

Hello dear people.
I have a M8S II and I've hooked up an external usb hdd to it. Since we cannot root it yet, I have few questions.
Is there any chance to use samba on it without root? My goal would be to transfer all movies to hdd, but to be able to copy it as well when I download something new.
At this point, I cannot write to it? Any reason besides android limitations? Tried connecting with es file explorer to my pc and to copy it to the external hdd, but I cannot write to it.
Thank you all in advance for your help.
Best regards,
