12 hours of SOT is now a memory of a far away past.
I used to score 4-6 hours of SOT in heavy usage, and even 8-12 watching movies, messaging and web browsing.
But now I can barely reach the 4 hours mark, it usually stays between 2 hours (just gaming) and 4:30 (Netflix, web...)
Sometimes I don't really mind getting just a few hours of SOT, but it is really sad looking at the past and remembering that plenty of juice I could squeeze out of this device.
Did also your device got this battery capacity decay? If yes, did a battery replacement actually did something (are the batteries available on sites like AliExpress good enough)?.
Is it really a battery problem or is it a crappy Oreo battery management thing?
PS: I've been using this device for about 1 year and a half.

Visiting the Mi Service centre will be more easy and comfortable....they can give you original battery with replacement warranty of 6 months so....that will be more genuine
It I problem of Battery as it's been used for around 1.5 Year....only those who have newly bought Kenzo like around 6-7 months can say what Oreo battery management is like....it's good or bad....you can try switching ROMs....you will see that you get a extra 30-40 mins of battery n nothing more....which means it's the decay of battery but on the ROM problem...in
I've been experimenting on Oreo and while Doze mode works really well (1% loss by night) I feel that overall battery management is awful, especially when browsing YouTube for instance where I also get 4h SOT max.
I also got my RN3 about 2y ago and battery decay is important due to my heavy usage, with Accu battery I can say that I have no lost about 1/4 battery (3200mah MAX...) But that alone can't explain the SOT loss.
Too bad there isn't any service center in my country I could use a new battery at least for the 1h more that it could give me.

I also checked my estimated battery capacity, and it says 3100mAh (I don't think this is very accurate).
Xiaomi doesn't officially sell phones in my country anymore (they've only sold the Redmi 2).

It's definitely not the most accurate way to check, but based on several charges (more than 20%) I've never seen 4000mah
It's looks like battery degradation. The only way to really check it's swapping batteries. Did you use the stock charger?

Hyperion 6000mAh Extended Battery
I got this last week and till now it been great! starting to love my lg g3 on a whole new level.
My old stock battery with all my tweaks used to last for 4-5hrs screen on time.
I havent drained this completely but i believe this would go for between 11-12hrs sot
Its not properly calibrated and if i charge it even after its 100% charged it stays on 100% for an hour of sot after unplugging and then drops 10% per hour of sot.
My usage includes only internet usage like browsing and facebook, offline tv shows and music and occasional real racing 3 now. Both wifi and 3g. so basically battery consuming stuff.
Will have to wait for it to be calibrated properly to get exact numbers but im still looking at atleast 10hrs sot and thats good enough for me. Lasts more than a day.
see attachment for bbs screenshots. Will also have to wait a few weeks to confirm if this performance stays on.

but only 9 reviews on amazon, and a reviewer mentioned 6-7 sot which is less than hyperions, although it would depend on the usage..

what sot do you get with it..'great battery life' is relative.
I'm really impressed by the battery on the A7. I've had 3.5 hours of sot and 20% left even after caning it with DS Audio, 4 hours of internet radio, 50 photos plus editing and lots of surfing.
Doze is extraordinary. Check out last night's battery consumption (I really must get to bed earlier).
Best battery life on a phone that I've had so far.....Well, since smartphones. I had some flip phones that could last a week.
It seems to be a bit better than the Nexus 6P I came from. Definitely not as good as the Oneplus One, much better than the Moto X Pure.

The main thing I've noticed is that this phone doesn't get excessively hot which seems to kill the battery very fast (both issues I've had with almost every smartphone owned: Nexus 6p and Oneplus One included). Apps that use GPS, camera use, gaming etc don't seem to get the phone as hot and this seems to correlate with better battery life under use. The only time I feel the phone warming up is if I'm using the Quickcharge charger while doing something else. It's barely warm though.
If I babied my Oneplus One (Sultans ROM) I managed to get 8 hours SOT which was crazy but it didn't charge the way the Axon 7 does and it certainly wouldn't have coped with the stress I'm putting on the Axon 7. I remember things like constant GPS + Spotify + Bluetooth would mean my Oneplus One wouldn't be able to charge as fast as the battery was being drawn. Not an issue at all with the Axon 7.

I agree on all points. This is one of the coolest running phones I've ever used. Only thing I've done that creates noticeable heat other than charging is +30 minute phone calls on Bluetooth in car. And it charges unbelievably fast. Very happy!
Got ,5 and a half hours yesterday. I honestly average 5 hours. Battery life has improved significantly with this smart power voodoo on. It doesn't affect performance unlike it does on tw.
I notice more apps are closed in background when I have smart power on.. Like I'll be able to have about 5-10 apps open with smart power on.. But 15-25 with it off.
I get an extra hour sot with smart power on.
And I took quite a few pictures that day.. Totally thought I was going to toast my battery.. But it held up better than any of my samsung devices..
The Axon ZTE 7 A2017 has the most smart power!!! I dont have to worry for the whole day charging my Monster!!!
I agree with all the comments here the battery is really good, pair with fast charging if necessary is a winner !!!!
Same here I'm enjoying the battery life on this bad boy!
I would also say it's not too bad.. still 25% remaining after 5h DOT
Agree! On at 6:30 am and still at 86% - light use. 1 phone call, a few texts and 10 or so minutes checking the news. My note would have been 70-75% by midday with about the same use. Power save mode on both phones. Very happy with this phone.
I started this thread and I'm still pretty happy with the battery life but this evening I noticed the phone was a bit hot. First time I've noticed that. It drained from 45% to shutdown in 10 minutes. This is what my Oneplus One used to do. How can the same sh*t happen to the same guy twice?

Sounds like you've got a rogue app in three background that's forcing your CPU to max out and keeping it there even when not in use. There were a couple kernels on the oneplus one (including stock) with bugs like that, but it's not a kernel issue with the axon because otherwise others would have seen this. I'm betting it's a bad app.
I had just installed Kayak. Battery back up now. I'll see if I can reproduce the issue.
I cannot see the usage of apps. Any solution? I also can't see it in the system battery settings.
My buddy has this phone and literally flawless. i mean it works. it lasts. its powerful. has amazing SQ. and im over here with a friggin note 7 barely squeezing 16 hours out of it with3-4 hours DOT/SOT.

Hello.I use this masterpiece about a year now with really heavy usage.I almost charge it every day,or about 5 times a week the less..In the first 10 months with KITKAT i had always about 10-11 SOT hours. After 10th month also with kitkat,SOT reduced to 9-10 hours. At this point i updated to lollipop cause a certain mod that wasnt supported from kitkat. The SOT about 1 month remained same as kitkat. And finally the last month i notice that SOT has reduced to 7-8 hours. Also to mention that after 8th month the battery has veeery sudden drop from 16 to 8%.It drains about 1%/minute!From 8% and bellow it drains much more smoothly compared to 16%—8%,but not as smooth as 100%—16%.Is there any way to calibrate battery or to find out if is battery issue?
Thanks for possible help.

For starters, if there was a 8 hour reduction in SOT in the course of a month, something must have happened. Either the way the device is being used, or the apps you are running. No two ways around it. Also, if it drops 1% every minute your battery has either become defect (dropped the device lately?) or again, something is draining it.
There are apps you can download to check what drains the battery and hog memory etc. Don't know their names, so Google it. Otherwise, I would do a back up and then do a factory wipe. Test the factory wipe for a day or two without restoring and check if the battery drain remains the same. If not, there is indeed something you are running that is causing it.
Lastly, our Li-Ion batteries lose their capacity over time. SOT will significantly reduce over 15 months or so, depending on usage maybe earlier. If I leave my screen off the entire day I lose around 15- 20%, if I use it I get maybe 4 to 5 hours playing games with my Bluetooth headset connected and WiFi/LTE. If I watch movies it's a bit less. Just how it is.
thanks dude.i loose 1% only between 16%-8% very weird..no i never dropped it and i notice that battery drops the same way either when is just formatted or not..if i leave it allday with screen off i loose just about 2%...
Hello all ,
I was about to buy an Exynos model and read somewhere on here that there was an update to fix battery life. Is this true and how much has it improved ?
Thanks
Personally I see much better battery life after the April security update. SOT gets about 6 hours of normal use.
i still haven't received the latest update, but my battery life is great
i get 8hrs of SOT
ARD 4 is latest firmware ?
From wich country ?
Tnx.

Latest security patch, i.e. 1st April 2018
Reading Anandtech article, exynos does not seem to be a good choice unfortunately. I have read all about it after my devices was shipped today, might return it.
I will tell u the truth, i have snapdragon and 5 hrs of SOT , since 1 month so the battery life is almost same
5-6h SOT with 2 days of usage between each charge. But depends heaviliy on your usage.

I'd like to know if you guys are using Facebook and Messenger apps. Tried it on a brand new unit without logging it in and the standby drain is less than 0.5% an hour. Installed those two because I actually need the Messenger (can't seem to greenify Facebook) and my standby drain is like 2% per hour.

Nope, i do not use Facebook at all, only Whatsapp and Telegram. Facebook is known to be a battery killer. But i think there are official lite apps which significally reduce the power drain.

Recharging the G965F(exynos dual sim) every evening at 7,8 PM after unplugging in the morning at 6,7 AM.
AOD , gallery syncing, nearby device scanning, cloud based services, find my mobile service, NFC off. Wifi power saving on, 5 Sammy blaotwares disabled , no game playing , most appkications are in sleeping mode, no battery hogging app and I'm just a light to moderate user with 90 % wifi connection.
4 to 5 hours sot and 13,14 or maximum 15 hours it lasts. Experienced other top of the line phones with better battery life.

With Messenger you mean the Facebook Messenger? Well no facebook, no friends at facebook to chat with .
I just dont like this company at all. The idea behind it is really cool, keeping people connected. But what they do with your data isnt. Not a tiny bit.
And if the trend goes on, WhatsApp will also be uninstalled someday. But this would be hard, since nearly no one uses an alternative messenger.
Whatsapp does the job for me and its much easier on the battery.
But back to the topic: Have you tried this Lite app?
Should be less stressfull for your battery.

Sounds a lot like my usage, also the settings you have done. Did you also disable 4G active while on Wifi? Its hidden in the developer settings.
Otherwise im currently ~32,5h off the charger with 42% left. My screen usage is at 2h 22min, so maybe 4,5h overall in this run. But its not too bad cause of the overall runtime, as standby also drains the battery.
If im pushing the battery more without trying to achieve 2 days i have no problem getting to 6h of SOT.

That sounds very similar to another poster here who is also having issues with dual sim battery drain. He also made the same comment about having better battery life with other "top of the line" phones. Interestingly, I thought you posted a screenshot of 8+ hours SOT with the exynos recently (and 15+ hours SOT with the snapdragon). So I suppose those figures weren't a good reflection of your "average" SOT? As now you're mentioning only half that SOT, despite quite a few tweaks too.
Question - it sounds like you have around 9-10 hours where you're not actively using the phone during a typical discharge cycle. Do you have a sense of what your hourly standby drain is (I asked the same question of the other person having issues and I think he mentioned about 1% or less drain per hour)? A good way of observing it is leaving the phone uncharged overnight. I'm just curious as to whether your relatively poor battery life is mainly due to excessive standby drain or excessive drain despite only doing light-moderate tasks. I ask this because, in my experience (and also with people like Galaxo60) and demonstrated in numerous battery drain video tests, heavy use (eg. GPS navigation with high accuracy) tends to drain the battery by around 10-15% per hour and very heavy use (complex games, video calling) tends to drain the battery by 15-20% per hour.
Assuming a standby drain of 1% per hour (which is on the high side with AOD disabled and a good wifi connection), you can see that even if you played a complex game for 2 hours (40%), then an hour later (1%) you did a video call for an hour (20%), then an hour later (1%) you spent 2 hours navigating Maps with GPS on high accuracy (30%), and then you went to sleep for 6 hours (6%), your battery would be down to about 2% over a total of 13 hours on battery with 5 hours SOT. I'm probably giving the high side of the estimated battery drain in each task too. And this should be without any significant tweaking (based on my experience, and unless those video tests forget to mention tweaking etc). It sounds like you don't do any of these heavy or very heavy tasks, and therefore your SOT should be more like 6-7 hours over 20 hours or so (just a rough guess to make the point).
So assuming your hourly standby drain is also around 1%, then the only thing I can think of is an app that you're using or a task that you're doing (or some specific combination of apps/tasks that exynos doesn't like?) that is draining the battery more than it should. Or throwing in a wild speculation, somehow there's a built-in kernel backdoor that activates while your screen is on and is secretly doing something that drains your battery more hehe (and of course doesn't show up in any battery stats).
I know the occasional poster has also mentioned having only 1-3 hours SOT, so you're not having the worst reported SOT I suppose. It would be interesting to know what the hourly standby drain for those people etc is too.

Where have you seen me posting 8+ hours with the exynos? It was of 6 hours and 50 minutes in the "screen on time" thread achieved when additional battery saving steps like bk package disabler disabling huge chunk of services and apps and keeping location in power saving mode. (bk no more working as it's removed from playstore and I went for factory reset after BRE5 update)
4 to 5 is the average sot with 13, 14 hours with few battery saving steps. No wakelocks no battery hogging applications.
So i regularly use AccuBattery app in my android device. It's a very useful one.
So i installed this on my new Poco X2. Those who've used it know that it can estimate your current battery capacity based on charge sessions and some other stuff.
And upon using it showed my Poco X2's estimated battery at around only 3800mah.
And a lot of users also are complaining about battery backup on flipkart.
Please check and post your device's estimated battery capacity via AccuBattery app.
Unfortunately, what Flipkart reviews say is actually right, this phone has serious SOT problems with 120 hz i only get 6.5 hours sot and 8 hours with 60hz and I don't even use it heavily just YouTube and small games with social media. This phone has very poor optimization. I know i shouldn't compare but if you look at realme 6 pro almost same specs but with smaller battery (4300) gives 1 hour more SOT even with heavy usage(both set to 60hz). This is absolutely disappointing, eagerly waiting for custom roms and custom kernels to make it as my daily driver. Will update you on the accubattery results

Bafore this I was using standard China Rom with mine and battery was a mess. But I unlocked & flash MIUI.eu. I add-on "naptime" to help with Doze & using Universal GMS Doze magisk module. Don't know how people here getting more than 3.8k mah estimated. Mine doesn't go above that. I'm pretty sure some units have battery problem as reported by few buyers on Flipkart. Some said battery is excellent while some said poor battery. I think poco x2 indian units are suffering more. Since after watching some tests on the redmi k30 Chinese variant by YouTubers they got significanly more SOT. I tweeted to them, no reply from their side yet ?
I got my K30 directly from China. No battery issues whatsoever.
I've been getting consistent SOT of 9.5 hrs on average with heavy use. SOT range for me has been 7 hrs (120Hz) - 11 hrs (60 Hz) on 4G LTE (you can check my post on SOT thread).
Being a heavy user, this battery life has literally blown me away and I absolutely love this phone simply for that. I can easily get thru a very heavy day with 30-40% battery left. I've been charging the phone twice every three days on average.
I'm on stock CN ROM (MIUI 11.0.13 Stable)
I easily get 8 hours + SOT with gaming. I play cod and pubg extensively.
Battery life update after using a month .
Mild gaming and social media usage.
Average sot is around 10hrs , battery lasts 30-50hrs depending on camera usage.
Unable to upload screen shot showing bad request.
Is AccuBattery reliably on first cycles? If many users have 3800 mah insted of 4500mah then something stinks here
My poco X2 shows 4398mah
I am on stock Indian rom miui 11.0.10
I did some quick research across the web and it looks like there are three types of d
1. Battery Drain issue devices, they have bad battery issues, battery capacity way below 4500 and widely varying with users. Screen off discharge is way off charts, like >5%/hr. SoTs varying around 5hrs or <5hrs
2. Inefficient battery devices. (Majority) They have battery capacity much below the specification, however less varying, always around 3800mAh. Battery doesn't drain that badly
I have this device, heavy usage like pubg clocks around 15-20%/hr, normal usage around 10%hr and screen off discharge rate at 0.5-0.9%/hr. Hardly discharges 2-3 percent through the night
3. Ok devices. These are the best sets. Battery capacity constantly goes above 4000mAh (still doesn't hit the required 4500 mark tho). No serious battery drain issues. (I don't know much about these devices because they don't look into the web coz they have no issues.

Usually i get around 9hrs 30 min sot on 60hz and around 8hrs on 120hz...( Without gaming ) after the update of miui 11.0.11 my phones battery backup gradually increased 1 hr on 120hz...+ I did some tweaks blocking system apps from running in the background
After using the phone for 8 months, I noticed that charging speeds have significantly reduced. At the beginning, the battery went from 0-100% in ~70-75 mins if I remember correctly (cross checked this with another review website).
But when I properly checked today (after a long time), it took 118 mins (2 hrs!) for the battery to go from 2-100%. I also plan to check this with the screen/phone off again.
The battery life is still great though, maybe slightly reduced compared to the beginning.

Maybe you charging cable could be the cause of this

Original charger used and the cable is in perfect condition.
Re-tested today with the phone switched off and it went from 4-100% in 70 mins! So all is good. Planning to test tomorrow again with the phone switched on.
Battery life is still stellar. 8.5 hrs of SOT for 26 hrs of usage on 120Hz; 70% WiFi and 30% LTE.
