Unable to write on external sd card in redmi note 4 - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
I am using Xiaomi redmi note 4 Snapdragon version miui 8.10.0 MCFMIDI. Suddenly I am unable to write on external sd card in redmi note 4. I can read the contents in sd card but can't delete or copy. I have a sandisk 64gb sd card. I have already enabled documents in installed apps section. Few days back it was working well but now I don't what had happened I have around 25gb free data left in 64 gb. I am attaching a screen shot file storage and documents enabled.
I tried connecting my SanDisk 64gb sd card to pc by USB adapter but still i can't delete or copy any files. Then I tried formatting my SD card in phone 2 times it did not format. I am stuck badly.
Someone kindly help.

Your SD card is locked. That means you need to unlock it to copy or delete. This you can find in the setting of your phone. If not, chances are there is switch like thing on your SD card from where you can unlock it. If you have lost the data in unlock process, you can recover it using Stellar Phoenix Photo
Recovery.

Thanks for replying but that's not the problem. I have tried all of these things you mentioned.

[ SOLVED SD CARD PROBLEM]
Hello everyone,
I did not get any solution on xda forum here where I posted the question somehow I have solved the problem. After doing lot research I got doubt that That the SanDisk Ultra 64gb SD CARD is malfunctioning and gone bad for this I contacted SanDisk support by mail they replied immediately that my Sd card is not working and they will have to replace it. It seems they knew this is common problem (On my research on various forums and social media videos I did not find this answer and there are no apps or software to repair the sd card and even if there is a software which claims to repair the chances are that That will be temporary and there may be risk that the next time if sd card malfunctions it gets totally corrupted and all data is lost ) and offered replacement which I accepted. This whole process is called RMA which is short for Return Material Authorization you will get a RMA no. Or ID through which the whole procedure will be conducted. They needed an image of sd card of both sides with serial on sd card clearly visible and they asked other questions like address name etc.
There was a problem in this process the SanDisk support wanted me to first submit the sd card at their nearest service center or ship the sd card to their Service center HQ if there is no service center near. I said to them NO WAY I am giving my sd card which has sensitive data which I will not share at any cost they said that will first check the sd card at their service center and destroy the sd card in front of me, I disagreed then SanDisk offered other solution which is that I cut the sd card in two pieces in which on one side serial number is shown and take the image of it and send them then they will initiate the shipping of new sd card. I cut the sd card with scissor carefully to avoid cutting serial number. I did that. They delivered the sd card although another model SanDisk extreme 64gb (I had SanDisk ultra 64gb).
I am now using the sd card with almost 40 gb content on it and its working fine now.
I am attaching some screen shots I hope somebody else will benefit from my pain and effort.
Best Wishes

Damaged SD Card...not!

I got my Dell Streak second hand but the 16Gb card that came with it wasn't working. Not that the seller had mentioned it.
So, I've actually bought 2 16GB micro SD cards and both have had the same problem. The device recognises it upon first installation but when writing further data upon it, e.g. connecting it via USB or taking the micro SD card out and using an SD adapter, the files become corrupted. It doesn't matter what type of file it is, it all gets corruped and it says that the SD is damaged when the phone is trying to mount the SD card again.
This is the 3rd time it has happened so it's no coincidence.
My 4gb that I had in my previous XDA Orbit has been working fine ever since I got my Streak with no problems whatsoever.
Am I missing a driver for 16gb+ SD Cards?
EDIT- Just had a thought. I was transferring all my stuff from my previous card that was in my Streak to the new one, could this have caused any problems? I assumed you could transfer all SD data from one card to another and still have all the apps and data working?
EDIT x2- Had another thought! It seems like when things get put onto the root of the SD card, it causes corruption but when it gets put into a folder, it seems okay. Now this isn't a problem when the device writes things to the SD card- they get put into the appropriate folders, however I have never had this problem with the aforementioned 4gb card and always write pictures and movies onto the root of the SD card to view without any problems.

[Q] Troubleshooting Micro Sd for Galaxy S3 - My findings & Questions

So I purchased this Micro SDHC card when I was overseas thinking its a decent deal.
It was a Verbatim 16gb Class 10 (Verbatim 44010)
Long Story Short:
I had to format the card to exfat in order for my phone to write to it.
Using fat32, the phone can read the card just fine but can't write to it.
If I tried to format the card with the phone, I get the same problem (I guess the phone formats it to fat32?)
The card reads/writes fine in both formats when plugged into the pc
What do you guys think? Something is wrong with the card?
A its a question .
Probable faulty card .
jje
I9300 and 8GB SanDisk Class 10 SDHC
This is the version that is branded as ideal for Android that came with a Sandisk application for you to download. The card has been working fine for 1 month and then suddenly while my computer can read/write to it just fine....the S3 can only read the contents from it but can't write to it. It is originally formatted to FAT32, now my phone can't copy files to it (whatever file types) using the stock file app and the camera won't even save photos to it with an error that says "copy failed" or "can't save to storage".....Having seen this post being the closest to what I am experiencing, I am wondering if I should try exFAT too.....

Media process and SD card issue, need help

Hello,
Hoping someone can help with this issue.
My phone is an international galaxy s3. Bought september 2012 with a class 10 sandisk 32GB SDCard. Around november, suddenly, phone keeps displaying "preparing sd card", "damaged sd card", etc. when phone wakes up from sleep, this causes media process to continually run in the background, killing battery. Force stopping the Media process doesn't help as after sometime, Media process will run again.
I solved the issue by buying another SDcard, same brand, class 10 32GB as well.
And now, after 2 months, same issue reappeared with my new SD card! Displayed the same preparing sd card issue, and now my phone seldom deep sleeps because of the android.process.media process. It keeps sending wake locks.
Anybody knows what the issue is and how to solve?
Thank you very much
Same problem here, I'm on my third SD now and after a week or so the same problem happens?
Carry out a proper test of the SD card .

I managed to temporarily solve the problem by buying another sd card (my 3rd SD as well), but this time I bought a class 4 16GB one.
One thing I noticed, when using ES file explorer, and checking the last modified of the SD cards (the old ones), it shows as 1970-01-01. When I reformat it, it goes back to the correct last modified date, but over time it goes back to 1970. This new SD card still shows the correct last modified date so far.
@JJEgan: I did try that SD card test tool from before (1st SD card) and didn't show any problems. I doubt it is a fake one though, I bought it in Korea with the hologram packaging and all, the 2nd one I bought in the Philippines but also looks legit (using SD test tool app also seems fine for both).
@sam77744: I already tried a factory reset. and formatted SD card in the PC, in the galaxy s3 itself, same problem.
Is it possible for the phone to mess up with the SD card over time? In such a way that even if you format the SD card lots of times, it will really not work well with the phone anymore?
By the way, my phone ran 4.04 then upgraded to 4.1.1 over the lifespan of the 1st sd card, then 4.1.1 and then upgraded to 4.1.2 over the lifespan of the 2nd sd card. Stock ROM, never rooted, updated 4.1.1 via Kies and 4.1.2 via OTA.
Will be grateful to any ideas on what might be wrong and how to permanently fix, I can't keep buying new SD cards every month
Download the SD Formatting tool, available for free from the manufacturers association's website. I've had several cards over the years that corrupted after formatting in the phone, but were okay after using the tool.
I'm not convinced that class 10 cards are the best option for phones, yes for cameras where only a small number of large files of written, but in phones where a large number of small files are written a class 6 might be better for real life use.

[Q] μ files on my sd card. is GS3 frying sd card?

First of all, im using a 4.1.2 stock and my device is rooted
So i had an Sandisk 64 GB class 10 for some time which one day became a "read - only" card...
So afterwards i bought a Samsung 32 GB class 10 which I found out also had problems because i could put about 10GB of files and everything more that 10 GB turned into wierd folders that their name starts with "μ" and there where no actual content inside and i couldn't delete them.
So now i'm at my third try, again with a Samsung 32 GB class 10 which also has the same problem, only now i can write on it about 20 GB of data before files start to get curropted.
Just want to say i bought all 3 SD card from Ebay, and though i guess they might be fake (tons of bad luck), after searching the web I found out there are many GS3 users with the same problem...
So i just want to put an end for this question..
Is GS3 frying SD cards? is there something i can do to stop it from destroying SD cards? can i fix somehow the SD cards?
thanks alot!
Hi! when you are asking a question you should include details such as operating system(4.1.2 , 4.3, 4.4, stock, rooted and so on) and file system. I noticed while searching google that the majority of "s3 fried sd cards" so to speak are sandisk and in your case it seams that there is no such "limitation". Maybe if you give more details someone might be able to help.

not sure. I formated it with my GS3 and the computer won't recognize it without reformating it.
Worst case scenario is your phone somehow corrupted the sd card and that is that. I had a similar problem with my usb flash drive which i used on-the-go and unmounted it before removing it but when it happened i didn't make a backup(as always) and got stuck with a nice keychain. If you have the possibility to format it under windows with a card reader and choose fat32 at least you have a working sd card, otherwise use your warranty for the sd card(if you have one) and always BACKUP.

but do you think that my device is malfunctuning in a way that will keep frying my SD cards..?
well since this is the second sd card i personally send it on warranty(as hard as it may be without the phone) because it seems that something is not right with the contacts of the card reader circuit board. I read somewhere that on some phones the card reader slot had some contacts partially detached and so the sd card kept getting corrupted. Search a bit on google about this issue and take into consideration using your phone's warranty. Best of luck!
That is a bit strange. Unless you're used to remove the sd card with the phone accesing to it (no safe removing) or removing the battery while the phone is running, that's absolutely not normal.
I have my 32GB sd since 2010 and I never had any problem. I formatted it this year because it had tons of useless data and I liked to have it clean.
Of course it's not from Ebay! That is bulls**t and use to fail suddenly.

[Q] Lollipop SD Card problem

I was in ES file explorer trying to move files to my external sd card and all of the sudden I get an error saying task failed. I can't delete or copy anything to my external sd card now. It's a 64 gb Class 10 Sandisk Ultra micro sd card. I formatted it to Fat 32 a long time ago. I don't know what's going on. And now all of a sudden Root browser in Root Explorer doesn't work either. I can't write anything on my phone. I even reverted back to stock android to see if it was the rom problem and that wasn't it either. I'm completely lost in the dark now.
I'm running CM12 Beta on my G3 if that means anything.
Try getting into it via twrp I had a problem like that a while back and I tried twrp and it did work I ended up wiping via twrp. You can also try putting it in your computer and partitioning it. I my self repartitioned it and just deleted the current one and made a new one. It seems that some roms or apps ect can cause the software in the sd card to become corrupted also try mounting and unmounting it before you delete anything.
If you are rooted you need to download SDfix from the play store. It says kit kat but works with 5.0.X fine. SD write access is still limited in lollipop unless the app creator allows SD access. If you were on zv6 on a custom rom it was probably baked in.

Yeah I tried formatting it and everything. The micro sd card is stuck in read only mode. I think it's dead. I put the micro sd card back into my S4 and my S4 couldn't write to it either. I ran CHKDSK on command prompt and it said that there's a corrupt file on the mciro sd card but it can't repair it because the micro sd card is stuck in read only mode. I tried to format it usng the SDFormatter and nothing is working. I used google and people are saying that when a micro sd card goes into read only mode it means that it's about to die. :c sucks cause it was 64gb and I've only had it for a year.
I had 2 SanDisk 64GB cards go bad soon after I formatted them to FAT32. I don't know why, but it happened. SanDisk could not explain it, but they were really good about replacing the cards.

I would contact SanDisk about it but I got the SD card in October of 2013 from BestBuy as a birthday present and I don't have the original packaging or receipt so I don't have proof of purchase so I doubt I'd be able to get the micro sd card replaced.

Chat with SanDisk. IIRC, they didn't ask me for a receipt, just where and when the card was purchased. It has a lifetime warranty, they will replace it and will even send you a free shipping label.
I have the same problem, I was copying files to my external sd card from internal and all of a sudden it said "moving files failed" and then nothing on my sd card would show up, though on storage information it shows that it's mostly full. But all the files are unreachable until I reboot then everything is fine while I'm listening to music, but if I stop for a while or try to move anything it messes up again. Anyone know of a fix?
I'm on lollipop, but the sd fix app would not do anything for me... Running Danvdh's Google Play Edition Rom
