Will the original keyboard be on sale anytime soon? Did anyone find a compatible chinese one with pogo pins?
I'm also interested!
@Ashyslashy Did you find any??
Thanks!
Nope. I feel quite deceived by Huawei at this point. Their site says "keyboard sold separately", not "the original keyboard will never be sold".
I got an email from Huawei this morning saying the Mediapad M5 will be available on May 30th, 2018 when I asked them about Amazon availability. I'm hopeful that other items will be in the shipment.
Might be a stupid question:
Is the Pogo-Pin system standardized in any way?
So that each 4-Pin KEyboard works with each 4-Pin Tablet and so on ....
I fear not, but I love clarity!
Anything new for this?
I can find them on eBay/AliExpress/GearBest, but I was hoping for something more official from Huawei...
I found an "official" Huawei one on ebay. I just came in the other day and I am typing on it right now. it is working great! came in a huawei branded box all sealed up. it's nice. the keyboard is very responsive. the touch mouse is smooth. it even has a mpen holder. I just searched huawei m5 keyboards and found one that said official and rolled the dice. it was about 124.
The original huawei keyboard case is really nice and slim but I'm still looking for cheaper keyboard case. Anyone found something similar?
How are you getting on with the case, is it actually a Huawei made case, is it worth close to £100, what you mainly using it for?
Sorry for all the questions, but am scared off of it because of price, and maybe thinking it will add alot to the thickness. Wish I could see it in a shop.
Thanks
Jim
If you are looking for the genuine keyboard case, you can find it :
- here (for QWERTY keyboard)
- here (for AZERTY keyboard)
I got the original, "Amork" one with the tablet and it is pretty nice and comfortable to use but two small pins holding the tablet are weak points. One of them broke just after 15 days of moderate usage and by the time I went to replace it, the shop I bought the tablet in said they had none to sell separately from tablet and apparently they sell for $125, which is borderline preposterous.
The positive is that the original uses the connector pins rather than bluetooth. Bluetooth will slow down you wireless network connection. Sadly the trackpad really sucks.
Physical Keyboard Layout when connected to M5 Tablet
Hi Guys,
I am seriously impressed with my very recent Huawei M5 10.8" tablet purchase, over the moon in fact!
So much so, I quickly decided to invest in the 'Original' Huawei keyboard with the 4-pin connector, and it really is a very nice accessory. The keyboard which I received yesterday does not look like it has the standard UK keyboard layout, but I wasn't overly concerned about that detail....at first!!!
Anyway, as hard as I've tried, I just cannot get the tablet keyboard language settings to change, so they exactly match the physical button layout on the physical keyboard! When I dock the tablet, it seems to be locked into the SwiftKey (UK) & Gboard (UK) keyboard language layouts, and doesn't allow me to change to another language? When it is disconnected I can change the keyboard language settings on the Virtual Keyboard very easily.
So to summarise, whenever I am typing on the physical keyboard, I am always getting UK characters symbols on the tablet screen and not the actual symbol that is on the physical keyboard. This is mildly frustrating, and I'm not sure about what I can to do fix this problem.
My next move will be to uninstall or disable the Gboard & SwiftKey apps, and see if that will force the tablet to use a generic Android Keyboard, that may allow the tablet to better interact with the physical keyboard.
The tablet was bought from Amazon.co.uk and the keyboard was bought from Gearbest, and I think it has a US keyboard layout, but I'm not 100% certain?
Anyone on this thread got any thoughts or ideas?
Best Regards
George T. Smith

I had similar, what I did was just get a replacement and I put double-sided tape over the full width and most of the height of the tablet and pressed it down hard, to produce extra bonding between the keyboard case + tablet. So far its' worked fine.
Is a pity its such a bad design as basically means I'm not really converting between tablet no-case back to case as they're being taped together.
I bought an original ( Amork ) case. It lasted 5 months and stopped working, seems the quality of these cases is suspect.
It can't be repaired and only had a 3 months warrenty ( Malaysia ) so I can't recommend it even though it seems to be a premier device.

I can verify that the wireless Microsoft Arc keyboard (Model 1392, http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=120) does not work with the Gtab (Vegan 5.1.1) and dock. My cheap, wired HP keyboard (Model 5309U) does work. Some of the media keys at the top work too.
Ideally, I am looking for a wireless keyboard about the size of the MS Arc. Is bluetooth the best route for wireless keyboard and mouse? I don't want to get the case that has the build in keyboard.
Thx!
Keyboard Compatibility
I am looking for the same thing. Do any of the developers/users know which wired and Bluetooth keyboards are compatible with the gtab? Best Buy has limited selection which forces me to shop online. I don't want to purchase online only to find it will not work. Thanks.
I bought a small (really small) USB keyboard at OfficeDepot for 15 bucks. It is less than an inch longer than the gtab. Works like a charm. I liked it so much I bought one for my computer too.

Brand name? Part number, or SKU number?
Got the Apple Bluetooth Keyboard working. Made thread about it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019995
I read that, but I'm still on the stock ROM, wasn't sure if it would work.
I ordered a Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard and generic bluetooth mouse from Amazon. They should be here the middle of next week. I'll report back how they work.
Mini keyboard
I almost bought the one from Office depot. I guess I will go back and snag it
The MS BT 600 or maybe 6000 doesn't work with stock rom. I gave up and just bought the case with keyboard.
edit I really can't remember the model number know that I think about it but it is the small thin one, bought it about three weeks ago from Bestbuy.

Thoughts on Keyboard Folio
The main problem for Android for me has been typing. I've spent hours getting used to swipe technology because I hate softkey keyboards, then came along this little keyboard folio.
At first I regretted buying it. I spent $90+ to get it, and as soon as it showed up I was unhappy. But then I started using it. The way that the tablet itself is not connected to the keyboard is a little bit awkward. You only can place the tablet at 3 viewing angles which vary by only a few degrees, rendering them almost useless. The folio case also takes up the full size USB slot, which was one of the best features of it imo. Also, the way it slides in and out of the slot does not seem like it would stand up against a lot of use.
That being said, getting this case literally redefined how I use my device. UX is now no longer a problem at all. The keys are individual, and spaced at a perfect distance so typing on it comes very naturally. Instead of a tablet, it seems like I have an android netbook now. I am a web designer/developer by trade. Using the tablet by itself is perfect for designing, the adobe touch apps are great, however I was never able to code due to the lack of a keyboard. This folio has changed that.
I recognize that half of my excitement over the folio is just the fact that I am using a keyboard with an android device, and that can be achieved simply by plugging in a regular USB keyboard into it, however after a little use, I rarely take the tablet out of the folio unless I am designing.
I like the keyboard. But I have in my bag and use it when I need heavy typing. Very impressed with the quality of it, there is some issues however, if you don't use the native english version. Then you'r at times stuck, with ENG layout, which can be rather annoying.
I find mine indespensible. If I'm not mistaken, it's the fastest for coding in Android from powerup to first keystroke, even on pokey stock ROM. The speed of getting hooked up with BT isn't something I like. The battery drain is a hassle for me, too. Granted, I use it mostly for typing rather useless stuff like this, but I really like it. It's a one-of-a-kind at the moment.
Yes, it's about 1.25 inches (33mm) thick, not counting the magnetic flap closure. The TPT in my Sikai case is 15/16 of an inch (23mm), but it doesn't seem like it thanks to its design. They could have worked a little harder on either the aesthetic or the actual depth. It's definitely not slick looking, but its a great workhorse. For criminy, it's Lenovo. What do you expect?
I think it's a transitional gadget, perhaps ahead of its time. They will get thinner. We will be jealous. We'll get the fourth gen and be smug for a month or two. But for now, we have the only one.
I just got my tablet yesterday, but so far I really like the keyboard folio. I do a lot of posting on various forums as well as document editing for clients. My only complaint with the folio is with the trackpoint. I was hoping it would be a traditional trackpoint. I find myself having to get used to rubbing my finger over the trackpoint instead of just pushing it in the direction I want the mouse to go. However as I use it more and more, I will get used to it.
In the realm of what I really want is a backlit keyboard. I would prefer if it was kind of like the Asus keyboard dock in that it offered additional battery life when in use. That beings said this is a rev 1 product and I am sure in the future things will improve. As it stands now I am about 90% satisfied with it the way it is.
Regarding the tablet in general I wasn't too sure about moving to a 10' device over my Nook tablet, but last night I read a book on it just fine when it was out of the folio, and difference in weight didn't bother me one bit. I love this thing.

I also bought the keyboard folio and it makes the TPT heavier and thicker. It would only fit(snug) on my 11 inch sleeve case.
I like to use the keyboard folio when I am replying to emails, but it drains the TPT battery faster so I always have it plugged in to a power source.
And the magnets are very strong (compass apks will be useless)
Function keys
Has anyone found a solution to using the Fx keys? (F1-F12) I need them to use some work apps in Citrix. Besides that this keyboard is awesome.
Great for travel
I use mine quite a bit for travel when I don't want to bring a laptop and a tablet. This gives me just enough laptop functionality on the go and tablet when I need it.
Bummer, I wish I'd seen this thread before I ordered my keyboard today. It was on sale on the Australian Lenovo site for AUD$60, reduced from $90 and freight was free. I have a 10" netbook which I have just upgraded with a Vertex SSD but I prefer not to cart it about everywhere with me as it needs to go in my motorcycle backpack. It seems like they will be about the same size in the end. Sigh..
I can't really complain though, I picked up the 16Gb ThinkPad on a 1 hour sale for AUD$249 so in the end it's a pretty cheap solution for an iPad killing android tab, especially now I've upgraded it to ICS which I much prefer over Honeycomb.
All I'm waiting now is for a rooting solution for ICS on this pad, that will be brilliant.
If anyone has one of these they want to sell, i'll take it for a good price.
Better than it just lying around ya?
I received mine. It's not too bad and protects my tab in my backpack.
I don't use it at home unless I am using a citrix client in a window where I am unable to use the native ICS keyboard.

Hello, anybody used Sculpt Mobile Keyboard or the Arc Keyboard on the PRO 12.2? How is it?
What are the differences between keyboards for Android and normal keyboards for Windows? Can I assume that as long as a keyboard is bluetooth, it should work with Android tablets? I suppose keyboards for Android tablets have cut/copy/phase buttons.
I have an old Microsoft Arc wireless keyboard that I used to use for my HTPC that works fine with the Note Pro using its USB dongle plugged into a USB OTG cable. Hotkey combinations like CTRL-C and CTRL-V work just like they do on a Windows machine.
I also have a Logitech Tablet Keyboard that's a standalone unit that opertates on Bluetooth. I cant say that I recommend that one, it's a battery killer whereby with the unit switched off (this is with a hardwired switch mind you) the two AA batteries will die after several weeks unused. Hard to believe I can go a couple of months using my cable/TV remote control every day as opposed to storing that keyboard unused and turned off.

Do you mean this: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/tablet-keyboard-android-win8-rt?crid=26
Besides being a battery killer, how is it compared with the Logitech PRO for 12.2? My tablet is white. It is a bit strange to use a black Logitech PRO case with keyboard. Also, I heard that it is quite heavy compared with the Logitech Tablet Keyboard. Am I right?
Yeah that's essentially the one. I think they made a couple of variants and that is the latest incarnation of it. Mine is the 3.0+ but it looks exactly the same.
I'm stuck trying to decide whether or not to buy an integrated keyboard case. I'm leaning towards not doing so because if I'm going to lug the tablet around in a thick keyboard case I may as well carry my rMBP. I bought the note pro to carry with me practically everywhere I go so turning it into a laptop is NOT on my wishlist. On the other hand I do want a keyboard that I can shove into a suitcase when I travel such that I have somewhat of a laptop replacement once I'm at my destination.
All of that said the difference between the Logitech Tablet Keyboard and the Logitech Pro Keyboard Case boils down to whether or not you always need the keyboard functionality. They both weigh about the same once in a bag, though you save a few ounces on the stand alone keyboard compared to the keyboard case. With the keyboard case you'll have to deal with the keyboard being part of the tablet all of the time and it will undoubtedly be heavier than a plain book cover type case (the Samsung Book Cover Case is a full 0.75 lbs lighter than the Logitech Pro Keyboard Case).
I have the note pro 12 and bought the very light but very good samsung bt keyboaed. It's designation is bkb something or other. It's about $35 on ebay and has many hot keys linked to the np12.2. I also have several by mice but just ordered the samsung action s mouse which i also operates hot key-like on the np12. Carrying the np, keyboard and mouse is featherweight compared to a my old macbook air.
I don't need a keyboard all the time. A lightweight, comfortable keyboard is nice. Somebody mentioned about the Logitech Bluetooth illuminated keyboard K810.
i was looking around for a long time for a keyboard that I didnt have to always use and could have it not be attached to a case or anything. Also the size of the keyboard and how well it worked. I ended up buying the sparin ultra thin bluetooth off amazon on my way to work really quick. I got it a few days ago and it is very very thin and light and the length is about the size of he tablet (a little smaller). it sits perfectly on the rest of my 3 angle case when its all the way up or I can sit far back and use it. he keys are not that rubbery kind and are actually larger size keys , bigger then my laptops buttons. Also I can use the buttons to control the usage of my device and has a mail button that brings up your email and voice search button and even a button that you can press to bring the virtual keyboard back up on the screen or away so you can use either without having to reconnect it everytime. Easy to setup , turn switch on push button to pair bluetooth and thats it. here is the link if your interested and it was only 15 bucks.

Hi, I am looking for a lightweight and comfortable keyboard for the PRO 12.2 Some users use the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810. How is it compared with the Tablet Keyboard for Windows and Android? Is there any other keyboard that is lighter and comfortable to type than these two? I am also interested in foldable ones.
Tablet keyboard for windows and android
Wedge mobile keyboard
Arc keyboard
Sorry can't post outside links due to restrictions from forum.
I've got the K810. It's very light and 5mm smaller than the tablet itself. (Easy to put in the same sleeve or bag).
I do also on occasion use OTG to connect to a fairly cheap (10 quid) foldable USB keyboard.
I don't own any of the others, so I can't compare.
My tablet keyboard for Windows and android sucks. ..batteries.
The AAA batteries inside will discharge even with the physical power switch turned off. This means that regardless of use I end up with about 6 weeks on a set of 4 and I rarely use the keyboard. It could be that my unit has a faulty power switch though. The radio within the keyboard turns off (keyboard no longer seen by my devices) as does the LEDs when the keyboard is switched off but perhaps there's still a bad connection internally. Thought i'd mention it anyway though.
Other than that it works perfectly fine for me so I've lived with it for the past couple of years.
The reason that I rarely use the keyboard is that I always have both my macbook pro and the note pro with me at home, work or travel so I haven't felt the need to carry the separate keyboard too. I'm sort of stuck in between the decision of whether or not i should bulk up my note pro with a keyboard case thus making it nearly as big as my macbook pro or should I stick with the external keyboard I rarely use LOL. With 90% of what I do with the note pro being browsing and media consumption thus far I haven't dropped money on a keyboard case.
I picked up the AERB IBK-02 keyboard from Amazon. It's fairly comfortable to type on and is just slightly wider than the tablet. It fits nicely in the base of my tablet's case when I have it open for reading. So far, I'm pleased with the performance and comfortabilty of the keyboard. It also has a trackpad on the right side of the keyboard which is a huge plus....Unfortunately it loses connectivity with a regularity my bowels would envy. For the price, it is extremely good. Issues with the trackpad aside, I can't complain about anything else....And I suppose I can just touch the screen, ya know.
I'm going to do a full review of it...After rebooting the tablet my trackpad issues essentially vanished. This keyboard is perfect.
I have been using the Logitech K400 because of the built in mouse pad similar to the above mentioned keyboard.
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/wireless-touch-keyboard-k400r?crid=26
I have since discovered there are two updated versions that may suit others needs with the Note Pro even better. One is very similar to the K800 but has a mouse pad and is backlit. It looks like an awesome keyboard but I am not sure a backlit keyboard is best for my portable needs. I guess I can always turn the lights off to conserve energy. It uses the 2.4GHz wireless adapter.
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/living-room-keyboard-k830?crid=26
The last one is the K480 which is a bluetooth device with a unique design. It has a slot to hold your phone or a smaller tablet and can sync with up to 3 devices. This doesn't seem like it would hold our 12.2 tablet but for those who already have a stand and just want a keyboard this might work if you want to sync to multiple devices.

As I said, it is entirely thanks to the amazing people here that kept it going with up to date ROMs.
To be fair, the last few years it's only been used for bedtime reading and an alarm clock. Still getting 3-4 days lite use on a single charge after 8 years.
