Hey there guys, so I did as I'm sure many of you do out of habit and checked for an update this morning. Low and behold with zero announcement Oreo is here!!! I couldn't be happier, but am I the only one who noticed it's dated for April 24th?? What're your guys thoughts on that? Did lg hold out on us, or maybe the carrier?
So this is Christmas...

It shouldn't but backup just in case
It's always better to do a factory reset after a change in Android version, eg. 7.0 to 8.0, so would recommend back up now.. When you change to Oreo, reset afterwards., then restore.

The KDZ will work regardless of your carrier, so long as your device is an H873.
I flashed it on my Koodo H873 last night and it works perfectly. Just be sure to check off upgrade in LGUP so you don't lose any of your data. Open LGUP using Uppercut.
As long as you don't unplug your phone during the upgrade, you will not brick.

Ok flashed kdz with uppercut.Worked like a dream.Only thing is when i tick on refurbished it wont allow me.So just ticked upgrade.Lost all my data but I can rebuild from scratch no prob.As far as new UX is a big no.Its still UX6.Not really alot of visual changes. Most just in software and a few tweaks thrown in.Not really impressed as opposed to Nuegat

The navbar icons are the same as the V30, but as far as the rest of the UX, I have no clue.

Of course!
Assuming you've downloaded the KDZ, the only other steps are getting LGUP and Uppercut. Just google them, you should be able to find them.
Install LGUP (Make sure it is version 1.14) and run Uppercut. It may trigger a virus warning, so you should disable your antivirus temporarily. It is not a virus.
Plug your USB cable into your computer WITHOUT the phone plugged in.
Shut off your device and plug it in while holding the volume up button. It will enter download mode.
Finally, in the LGUP interface, it should show your device model on Standby. Check off "Upgrade" if you do not want to lose your data, or "Refurbish" if you want to factory reset it. In the list at the bottom, select "BIN" and click on the three dot button. It will prompt you to choose your KDZ.
Assuming you did everything right, click on Start. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PHONE WHILE IT IS UPDATING. When the progress bar in LGUP reaches 100% and your phone enters the "Android is Upgrading" screen, you may unplug your device and wait for it to boot.
Voila, you have Oreo! Please PM me if anything goes wrong.
In the future, please look for an existing thread for flashing instructions. I will make an exception here because you are new to flashing, and I know it is confusing.

Greetings, I am asking whether there's a way to remove my lg g5 brand (eventually flashing an official rom) without unlocking my bootlocker, since I've read it would irreversibly remove my warranty. Thanks everyone for your eventual answers.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Basically what you need to do is download open Eu v10d kdz (H850) then go to LGUP software, click the bin file and choose the kdz you downloaded. Click the refurbish option and make Sure that the phone plugged in with download mode. To enter download mode, turn off the phone, then hold the volume up button and at the meantime plug in the USB. Once you done that click start and let it do its thing. hope it helped!
The phone does take forever to boot up and almost no app is really working, the camera app for example won't start at all.
This is caused by this behavior
C:\Android>adb shell /data/local/tmp/dirtycow /system/bin/applypatch /data/local/tmp/dirtycow
warning: new file size (9984) and file old size (66512) differ

Can anyone tell me please how I can delete this ? I already tried to flash the firmware via the LG software, but it is impossible.
I really appreciate a helping hand from someone who has a clue here, what's to do to reset the phone to normal.

Don't know what happened to your phone. But, why you don't just kdz back to stock?

It's not working, any other solution you might have ?
kdz file invalid => you should download it again, it may be corrupted.
You're trying to flash a H850K file onto your phone, are you using a H850 or a H850K.
The H850K is not the European model, download a H850 rom from lg-firmwares.com.
I am using the H850K from Telstra, Australia. But this KDZ file H85010c_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0415, it had no installation problems, so I got rid off its branding of Telstra.

Oh, I see, this is not H850 EU. Have you tried to use refurbish option rather than upgrade one?

You need to start again and explain exactly what you've done, are you now saying you've flashed a H850 ROM onto an Australian H850K phone and this is where all of these problems have started?
tried the refurbish thingy, does not work either. gave the same message, tool is crashing afterwards.

Yes, but there was no problem at all. The problem only started when trying to root this phone., because it is unable to go into fastboot mode. Until step 10 everything went fine with this explanation. https://www.idroidspace.com/root-lg-g5/ And now it is running like a mess. I am note sure if the phone still is repairable ?
I'm not getting traction in other threads, but could use some help so I made a new thread for visibility.
Long story short is I rooted my us998 V30 and everything seemed well, but ran into some app issues so I needed to reload my backup to correct them. Again, seemed to go okay. ...but ever since I've run into small issues like "system isn't RW" and "structure needs cleaning" as well as some apps not working properly. I even tried installing the custom WETA rom only to be fooled into thinking it worked, but couldn't find anything "WETA" about my phone once it booted again.
Anyway... what I want is to nuke this and start from scratch, so... how can I restore my phone to full factory install so I can begin again?
I've downloaded the US99810c_03_1216.kdz
... but I'm not sure what to do with it. I seemingly need LGUP or LG Flash tool, but can't seem to find the latest downloads for either and when I google them most places seem like virus ridden locals that I should avoid.
Once the phone is restored.... I should be able to follow the rooting guide again (hopefully without the structure needs cleaning issue)
Thanks for any help... online right now and looking to get this sorted over the next hour... really appreciate any help.

Not sure why it would not work for you, but options 2 and 3 don't use Uppercut. Try those?

I can do "upgrade" just fine. I'll try a factory restore and see if refurbish works after that.
edit, didn't help... can't "refurbish" but can still "upgrade".

I'm not sure, it appears to reinstall the ROM... but all my installed apps and software were intact. (well, until I factory reset anyway, lol)
Either way it seems to have corrected my issues with "System isn't RW" and "structure needs cleaning" as I was finally able to cleanly "re-root" per the guide here:

you have to select REFURBISH for it to wipe the phone enitirely and flash a clean firmware.
most probably you had selected UPGRADE

hello. i have the same problem on my v30 us998... i didn't use lg bridge and am still on 7.1.2. on this "encryption unsuccessful" screen my only option is select "reset phone" but that does nothing but reboot to twrp.
I'm guessing i need to flash the stock firmware but I'm not sure how to do that.
can anyone help me please?

Understood - thanks for the clarification.
Merry Christmas all,
I bought my S9+ 18 about months ago from one of those cell phone stores.
Well since I bought the device, I never received an update. If I am not wrong, this device is originally from Luxemburg, I live in Austria and my provider is T-Mobile.
I have been looking all over the internet to find the right update, but i think none of the ones I found were the correct update for the device I own.
In the attachment you find the device information, can you maybe help me to find the right update file. I would much appreciate your help!
OR
Is there way to change my device, as if I bought it directly from T-Mobile, so I receive the future updates automatically, without root access?
Best wishes,
timsah

have you ever had smartswitch work for this type of situation?
these situations almost always benefit the most from Odin, not smartswitch. Odin is very easy to use if the user can read and comprehend fairly simple steps provided they dont overthink it or use the wrong files etc etc.
Odin > smartswitch
even when the phone gets to the state where it says that the software is corrupt and to connect it to Keis, do not connect it to Keis. That screen is also download mode, and if you have that screen, a computer, usb cord and Odin, youre likely going to be able to fix your phone. Ive never once seen anyone use smartswitch to achieve this
