There were a slew of notifications on my phone earlier, and I just hit the "clear" button at the bottom to make them all go away. Turns out one of them was for an upcoming alarm I had set and didn't notice, and apparently clearing the notification dismissed the alarm so it never went off. (I'm running the standard google "clock" app since I'm used to it, not the samsung clock app).
Any way to prevent an app notification from being cleared? Any way to remove the "clear" button from the notifications? Any better clock app that doesn't have this problem and also functions correctly with snooze mode?

I used to be able to dismiss my alarm clock by sliding down the bar, just like unlocking my phone. Yet recently I noticed that I only get a two button thing "snooze" and "dismiss" when my alarm goes off rather than the slider. How can I change it to the slider? I have also recently gotten Lockbot Free. I tried disabling it (not uninstall) but it did not work. Any ideas?
Thx.
I have a Galaxy Nexus, running AOKP. I disabled the stock Calendar app and downloaded the "newer" stock one via the Play Store. One issue I've run into with this new one, though, is that it makes the notification light blink when I have a notification for the next event on my calendar. I always liked to leave those notifications hanging up in my notification bar, because it helps me remember that I have to do something soon, but I don't like the LED blinking all the time just because I have one of those sitting in my notification bar. The LED never blinked in the original stock app...
I've looked through the settings of the app, itself, and all I can find is a setting to turn off notifications altogether, but doing so means I don't get the little reminders up in my notification bar. Did I not see the right setting, or is there no setting to turn off the LED?
What's kind of annoying, too, is that the LED notification for these reminders seems to "override" that of other notifications. For instance, I have it set up in AOKP to blink different colors when I get notifications from certain apps, but the color for the calendar notification seems to take precedence over the LED for everything else.
Any other suggestions, or am I out of luck?
Hi
every morning I have a notification about the weather of the day. It comes from the standard weather app. But on this app, I cannot disable notifications.
I'm not sure but it might be coming on when the alarm sounded.
I have not enabled google now - so it's not this.
any idea on how to switch this off?
Cheers
UPDATE: It's defenitely connected to the alarm. when I switch of the alarm, I do not get the notification in the morning.

***HERE'S HOW:***
Go to settings> applications> application manager...swipe over to "all"...scroll down to "weather daemon"> UNCHECK show notifications. DONE.
Thanks. Did that. Strangely it stopped happening even before.. No clue why. But now it's defenitely off
I been unchecked that for a while now but still getting Weather of the day popup everyday.
they are back .... no clue what this is about...
does anyone use the alarm clock and does NOT have the notifications in the morning?
What I did was add the weather widget to your home screen, then launch the app (only way to run the weather app...stupid) . Now click "More" in top right. Then there are 3 toggles to turn notifications on for the edge screen, lock screen & calendar. Turn them off.
I don't have any notification settings there.. it's more like "Show weatherinfo" and then edge screen, lock screen, s planner. But these don't have an effect.
btw. this morning.. no weather notification.. it seems completely random

you still can open Weather setting from Edge screen setting, also the way you show will not work because it different setting from the op ask, he asked about the notification popup everyday, the setting your show it to show the weather ON/OFF of all the time on Edge screen, lock screen or calendar.

Funny, but I am trying to find a way to enable it again.
Does anyone know what exactly makes/triggers morning weather notifications right after alarm sets in? I liked it but it went away for some reason and I am not sure what has changed/what I've have changed in between. I still use samsungs weather widget with manual updates as I did before. Tried setting up alarm with auto refresh but still the daily weather notification won't show up after the alarm is triggered.
Solution?
Has anyone figured this out yet? I like getting the daily weather in the notification drawer but for the last two days it seems to have stopped.
This morning I had set an alarm and cancelled it before it went off, that's the only thing different about today and I don't usually set an alarm. I don't think I set one for yesterday morning but don't believe I got the update then either. No idea what is different.
Will test again tomorrow morning without an alarm set.
Very annoying that there is no obvious setting for this.
New Phone
I have a brand new S6 now and just realised that there have been no weather notifications since I got it. And I'm not using any alarms and the notification options are all selected.
How on earth do I get them back?
The weather notifications work for me if I have an alarm and location services turned on.
Is there any way (with or without root) to increase the maximum number of notification charms shown in the status bar in Android P? So far, I've only been able to find a way to customize the clock position but not the notifications themselves. Thanks!
Yeah, I hate this change in Android Pie. With this and the lack of notification LED, it seems like Google is actively trying to destroy Android's notification system.
+1 The entire notification bar is a train wreck. Move the clock back to the right where permanent icons/info belongs, and clear space on the left for notifications, and let them breath. Probably my biggest annoyance with the phone is the whole lack of notification management. Turning off the AOD lead to missed notifications, so I have to sacrifice battery for the AOD... Then the dumbass clock and 4 icon limit is STILL causing missed notifications. If you have weather app and another notification always hanging around, you're down to 1 or 2 true notification icons?! Seriously?? Really hope Google fixes this, but I have a bad feeling this is how we have to live now... constantly pulling down the notification shade to see what was missed.

Google wont be satisfied until our devices are just as hampered as Apple's.
I don't understand the problem. I have an unread email, a few texts, a whatsapp, and an ebay auction won. I can see the text and the email and the dot. I swipe down, see the text and the email are unimportant, dismiss, and there's the whatsapp and the ebay. Sure, they aren't right there, but you don't read the email in the 1/8th of an inch of status bar, you preview in the notification shade or read in the app.
I wish I could only get 4 notifications. Since switching to the Pixel 3 XL I have one persistent notification that my Fitbit sync service is running. No WhatsApp or Gmail notifications, leading me to miss things left and right. I shut off AoD to save battery, but I don't think it worked before either.

you can hide persistent notifications now without disabling them completely. Just swipe to the left and click on the gear icon, and it will give you the option to minimize the notification. this will allow it to stay in the notification tray without displaying on the notification bar.
Got it working. Apparently my do not disturb settings were conflicting.
i have the same issue, with pie it limiting notificatiosn been shown in status bar, in Note 9 al least there is an option and you can chose to show all notifications.
With the last version of GravityBox you'll have an option to remove max notification icon restriction

I installed the Google Clock app because it has the next alarm notification, so I can easily disable it in case I want to, contrary to the stock clock app.
The problem is that on some days none of the several alarms I have ring. Then, sometime later in the day, a bunch of notifications show up listing them as "missing alarms". This doesn't happen with stock app. I think Emui kills the Google Clock's service.
Anyone know a fix for this?
First thing to try is to manage the Clock app separately in battery settings. Ie.
Settings, Battery, App Launch, Clock, then select all the options (run in background etc)
If its already managed manually, then uninstall and reinstall Clock app from play store (this is what I had to do as it was happening to me, and its been working fine since)
