How come ARcore isn't officially supported on the V30? I remember looking at Google's list of supported phones, and it said when the V30 got Oreo update. It would be supported. Now the V30 has been removed from the list. But the g6 and G7 are on the list. What gives. Although you can dl the apk and install it. I don't understand why it's not officially support.

Have you gotten any apps to work on the v30 that use AR Core?

I have ...I use 5 apps on AR..

Qualcomm confirmed that only SD821 will be compatible with Daydream view, but recently the Moto z(which has SD820) got upgraded to 7.0 nougat, and alongside that update, it's now compatible with the Daydream view VR, so.... Is there a chance the G5 will be compatible with Daydream anytime soon ?

I guess very likely via inofficial ways i.e. xda but officially questionable. The moto z is still not officially regarded as compatible afaik.

"Another Redditor who received the update confirms that it enables Daydream support, which would make the Moto Z and Z Force the first devices outside of Google's own Pixels to support the company's new VR platform"
Yeah I've seen that. Not sure whether this is intended as this info is not from an official source like moto themselves but lets hope for the best
So i've installed the 7.0 KDZ and the Daydream app+VR framework from google. I can open the app and browse stuff, but as soon as i want to go into VR mode it crashes.
Is LG G5 compatible with Daydream View on Nougat (7.0). I wouldn't thought so since LG is selling their VR headset,

http://www.androidauthority.com/daydream-vr-ready-phones-specs-727780/
Here they say:
"Google doesn’t specifically demand an OLED display in the CDD, but the need for low latency and persistency probably means that only phones with OLED panels will make the cut. That could increase even further the demand for AMOLED displays, which is already on the rise and expected to boom in 2017."
Which is much more precise, and there are the full requirements, this confirms that if the G5's IPS display doesn't respect those specification it will never support daydream.
But it also says that the only soc supported is Snapdragon 821, beside that the Moto z supports daydream, at this point who knows xD
Hello,
Do you think that when and if lg releases Android 8.0 it would have support for Project Treble? Possible it would over time be done through development be done if people are still willing to for this device.
8.0 official upgrade with treble support? You should pray for LG to release Oreo for G5. It would be a miracle if they releases official Oreo upgrade. LG many told that G5 sales were disappointment for them. As far as project treble is regarded, there is possibly no chance LG would be giving that for G5 (Even G6 and V30 seems to not have project treble support). And Project Treble can only be supported if OEM gives it support. Developer probably can't give any device that support as it includes low (hardware) level programming and requires exclusive resources.
Hey I wouldn't even be surprised if LG releases their G7 and V40 phones with Android Nougat for 'logistic reasons' to avoid including Treble. They abandoned the G3 AT&T, US Cellular, and Sprint variants especially. They killed nougat support for the G4 as well. Not to mention they neglected to fully address bootlooping phones (5x, G4, V10). My next phone definitely will not be LG, likely Huawei, Xiaomi, Oneplus, Leeco, or ASUS. This customer support thread gives hope that the G5 will update to Oreo and get Treble: https://reddit.com/r/lgg5/comments/7fh1g7/will_lg_g5_receive_oreo_on_july_2018
If they do update the phone, it would be nice for them to update all variants this time around: H830, H850, H820, VS987, and RS988.
Is the new camera AI part of Oreo 8.0, or is it a separate update? I've updated on Verizon, but see no new modes in the camera. Some people, after updating to Oreo, have reported that their splash screens now show V30S Thin Q. Mine doesn't. Is this all carrier related? Thanks

Not all Oreos have them. Mine updated to oreo and got 2-3 more updates before getting the ThinQ features (which weren't even announced until well after Oreo was released for Korean carriers). Maybe some carriers skip the earlier updates and go straight to the version with ThinQ but there's definitely previous oreo versions without these features.
AI should be separate. It’s an LG software, not a Google Oreo component. Though I think some of the Oreo updates received by some carriers from LG may include both.

That's what I thought. How would you know? Is it a Kernel version?
Google ARCore Support for V30

Just need to be on Oreo. And all the V30/V30+/V30S have Oreo that want it.
Even India has access to Oreo with Jio VoLTE.

Hey Chazz!! Just installed measurement app and ARCore!! Pretty accurate on larger objects!! Running on AOSP Extended on VS996, "it's Magisk"!! :good:
Here's the recent (6/22/18) XDA NEWS article about Google ARCore:
Measure the length of objects using augmented reality on any ARCore device

Finally working !!!!!!! Thanks for this news

Then you haven't read much, looked around much in this forum, have you?
Read the sticky post that answers your questions. Two posts in that thread, read them both.
ROOT Your LG V30!
I see you also posted identical question in the G6 forum. The V30 is what the G6 SHOULD have been -- instead of LG's idiotic G6 "regionalized" spec scheme where you couldn't get all the touted features in one phone.
Plus 2017 V30 has the 2017 Snapdragon 835, not the previous year's 2016 Snapdragon 821 -- which the G6 has.
LG V30/V30+
* 1440P OLED (537 ppi)
* Qi wireless charging (for all variants)
* 3.5mm headset jack
* Quad DAC (for all variants)
* DTS 3D stereo (with root, which all variants have)
* IP68 dust/water resistance
* rear camera OIS on normal lens - plus 120 degree wide angle lens
* superfast fingerprint sensor
* 64GB (V30) or 128GB (V30+) internal storage (for all variants)
* microSD port for additional storage
* bootloader unlock and root (for all variants)

LG G7 DS, no can't be rooted.
Samsung I don't keep up with right now.
LG does not allow any of the "DS" models to have official bootloader unlock code -- but with the WTF bootloader unlock exploit on the V30 we don't need LG's permission.

You seem to have missed a lot when it comes to LG SD845 devices.
Even though cant be officially unlocked, there are engineering bootloaders of the G7 and V35 out there, which work on ALL (except T-Mobile) LG SD845 devices, which, after enabling OEM unlock in settings), allow you to unlock the bootloader by "fastboot oem unlock" ^^
There are people in russian forums or telegram groups or so which offer their service to flash those to devices by remote.

OK. Thanks.
Originally he had asked about G6 root and ROMs, which I knew wasn't viable for DS models.
I admit for G7, I assumed -- since I know they're never going to be listed for official bootloader unlock code and WTF won't work for that either.
I see this G7 thread was just started earlier this month, so I'm not too far behind:

Then why isn't this being discussed in the V35 forum? @runningnak3d? You know about this?
I have a V35...
Ok guys ,so i'm getting we're good to go for the "rooting" part . And what about "dual-sim function and supported roms" part of the question?
Anybody tried one or has any kind of insight that i could actually rely on ,so i can be sure before proceeding to a purchase?
Tnx everyone... btw !
