Trouble installing Resurrection Remix 5.5.9 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Yesterday I have tried installing a new ROM to my old Galaxy S3 I9300, to make it more useful, since my main phone is dead. Stock 4.3 just works like ****. Battery drains in literary one hour from 100% to 0%, when connected to my brand new JBL speaker music played trough YouTube freezes, but video is still rolling , apps like Snapchat cause phone to glitch and even freeze when battery is below 50% and so on. I believe one thing I can try is to give this phone a somewhat fresh ROM. I have quite some experience with installing aftermarket ROMs from other phones, but in 5 hours of straight frustration, I couldn't figure out how to do this on the Galaxy S3
This is what I did:
1. Successfully rooted the phone trough my PC using Kingo Root, downloaded Resurrection remix 5.5.9 & Gapps 5.1 and put both zips to SD card
2. Installed latest version of CWM custom recovery
3. Nandroid backup
4. Wiped data and formated cache
5. Wiped dalvik cache
6. Installed Resurrection and gapps from SD card
7. reboot the phone
And then I expected to boot up into the new android, but when the Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 startup logo appears, it just keeps flashing for 5 seconds, in 1 second intervals, nothing happens. It is not even an bootloop it just doesent even start booting up? What the hell am I doing wrong?
Then I wiped data again and restored backup, I was able to boot up back to annoying android 4.3 and at least keep the phone useful.
Another issue I have with this phone, which can hopefully be fixed with new ROM, my phone detects SIM card, I type the PIN, register on my operator's network, but then a notification pops up saying: selected network (my network name) is not available.
I can't make calls nor use the mobile internet..
I will really appreciate all the help

Rule #1, if your phone is too slow buy a new one. You can't polish a turd.

Yes you can.
Try flashing another ROM like lineageos or latest cyanogenmod 11 (really fast and stable ROM)

I suggest starting over by flashing the latest stock ROM with Odin, flashing TWRP with Odin, and install all ROMs/zips using TWRP.
Root is not required to install TWRP when flashing TWRP with Odin.

SIM cantread after Nandroid backup :(

Hi guys,
I wonder if someone can help me with this... really annoying problem!
I was checking out various roms i downloaded here, started with 4.0 aokp which was great, then gave cyanogen 4.2 a try, but then i wanted to go back to Aokp 4.0 cause it seemed to run faster
Now first thing, i couldnt get rid of cyanogen (no offense intended) cause when i wiped all data, cache and dalvik it just took aokp a few seconds to install from CWM recov, that doesnt seem right, right?
Then installed GAPPS, but still it ran on Cyanogen
So, i did a NANDROID backup, which made my phone like before i started with all this..
THIS IS WHERE IT WENT WRONG?
now it just wont read my simcard
i tried my sim in my old phone and that works fine, so the problem is in my phone somehow
is it something about the radio settings specific to my phone and network?
how can i change these settings and are they specific for my provider?
you guys always helped me out so i hope you know what i mean..

I've exactly the same problem.
Are your wifi and BT still OK ?
Is your IMEI (*#06#) still the same as under the battery ?
Was your phone locked ? Did you buy it with a SIM ?
My problem appeared after flashing several different modems/RILS : I got no error warning anywhere, but after reboot, I completely lost my netwerk connection. (no voice calls , no mobile data)
At first I thought a bad RIL driver, so I restored my Nandroid backup from the day before (after wipe cache/wipe dalvik/format system), but still no connection with the netwerk. and can't even make voice calls.
Then I was in panic !
After this I did a complete factory reset, and wiped/formatted cache/dalvik/system/data/SD-card and went in to download mode. After loading a stock ELLA for my region using Odin, still no connection. I was also never asked to enter the PIN-code for my SIM to unlock it.
Damned, this is an embarrassing situation : I can't think of loosing my SG3 for several weeks if I have to send it to Samsung !!
Mu phone is bought without SIM, so it's not SIM-locked.
My Wifi and BT are still OK, my IMEI is also still OK.
Any other ideas, please ?
How do I come in the service mode for the Radio ?
This is the way my netwerk is indicated : a circle with a stripe, much like the famous traffic sign.
Its fixed
So i have no idea how it eventually got fixed but if someone else has this problem, heres what i did:
Full wipe/factory reset blablabla all that
Did Nandroid restore again, put the AOKP ROM and GAPPS back on my phone
Installed ROM which was I9300CEDLI1
Used Odin to install latest CWM, which was already on there, but still
Then booted into CWM and installed .zip of course
This still went suspiciously fast since the very first time it took way longer, that worried me but,
Installed GAPPS again,
Rebooted... IT ASKED FOR MY PIN NUMBER!! hell yes that was what i wanted!
So now it again sees my simcard in there, so now i can make calls end use intnet again!
Still i think it started after the nandroid backup for some reason, or it may have been because of wiping Dalvik Cache?
I have no idea if that even makes sense

Good to hear your problem is fixed !
I'm still not able to make voice calls or enable mobile data : "insert SIM card" is the message I get.
I did already twice a full reset/factory restore and flash a stock ROM using PC Odin, but no avail.
Today I did a restore from my EFS folder using a backup that a had made before the problem appeared, but no avail.
BTW, did you also have the same indication from network status as on my screen-shot ?
Any idea what else I can try ?
I'm getting desperate .....
I'm having the same trouble after doing backup in TWRP when boot up it doesn't recognize the sim card.
I've flash CM10.1 and it only work after i remove the card e put it back on.
Try to see if it something about the simcard.

[Q] Revolutionary S5 Rom V2 and V3

My partner's S III recently developed a problem using the standard Samsung 4.3 OS, it kept halting in the the middle of an application and later started continuously rebooting. As the phone was as far as I was aware, out of warranty and someone suggested there could be a s/w issue, I decided to root the phone and install a custom 4.4.2 ROM (I initially went for the one of the cyanogenmod 4.4.2 ROMs), to see whether that would resolve the problem. Initially, the ROMs I tried all generated error messages and failed to install, until I tried the Revolutioniary S5 V2 ROM, which installed perfectly.
However, it states that iti is a 4.3, rather than 4.4.2 ROM. I ran the ROM for 5 days without any major issues, so decided to try the V3 ROM, as ir was stated that this was 4.4.2 in a number of articles.. Again the ROM installed really quickly and without a hitch. However, again the ROM said it was 4.3, and as soon as I tried to install applications (well it was the third install, Skype if I remember), and the phone turned itself off. Then it started continuously rebooting, which is what was happening before the V2 ROM was installed. managewd to stop this by removing and then putting back the battery, and managed to get the V2 ROM installed again. Ther are three questions:
1) Does anyone have any idea what the initial problem might have been?
2) Why did the V3 ROM actually cause the problem to reoccur?
3) Is there a genuine 4.4.2 release of the Revolutionary S5 ROM (which I am genuinely impressed by and happy with), and will it work with my phone? (specific model i9300)?

1) Not doing a full wipe/ formating system cache data etc or not using the latest recovery or combination of both
2) Not doing a full wipe/ formating system cache data etc or not using the latest recovery or combination of both
3) No
Also I find if switching between 4.3 roms and 4.4 roms (which I do alot) it is good idea to backup internal sd card and to format it (not all the time just if phone becomes really slow or has random reboots)

Audio/WI-FI/Sim card problems.

I got a new phone and my old Galaxy S3 is just destroyed (Software wise) and now I just wanna fix it...the problem is that one time I was updating my Cyanogenmod ROM and the Audio on my phone disappeared I can't play music/videos any thing and then I came back to my old update and the problem stayed with the phone[emoji21] then I tried to flash a TouchWiz ROM the the Audio problem gone and another problem came[emoji20] the Sim card and the WI-FI now is missed up... at this point I'm stuck in a loop : Flashing stock ROMs like Cyanogenmod and liquid smoothe gonna miss up the audio and flashing a TouchWiz ROM gonna miss up the WI-FI and the Sim card.
Any one knows what to do?
Thanks for your time! [emoji2]

Do a full wipe, internal sd, cache, dalvic, preload, data and system before flashing latest stock rom with Odin.
Factory reset again in recovery before first boot.
Thanks for the reply!
I did all that but why should I use Odin instead of cwm and one more question what is "preload"

GApps error after installing custom ROM

So I have got this Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 3G 10.1" that has been lying in a cupboard for a around a year, mainly because I've been busy Now there's a family member of mine who would really need a tablet so I thought this one would be perfect for her!
From thinking I went on to doing and started with getting rid of the stock software and installing some nice custom ROM.
As I found out i couldn't use USB (probably busted data-cable), I rooted the tab using KingRoot and went on installing CWM recovery. Afterwards long story short: I've tried both CWM and TWRP, different ROM and android versions (Lineage, CM, Slim etc.) and different GApps packages from different developers but the problem still seems to come up :crying:
The problem itself is that when I've installed any of the above mentioned ROMs, all the GApps seem to not have been installed correctly (even though the installation process in recovery went smoothly) and basically none of them works (notifications saying that any GApp has stopped keep on coming up and I can't find any Google app in the menu except something things like "com.google.android..." or "com.android.vending...") otherwise everything seems perfectly fine.
Maybe there are others here experiencing the same issue or there's someone who knows how to fix this here, any help will be very appreciated :good:
Hello,
First, have you checked that the ROM you flashed was fully compatible with your device? Yes, this is obvious, but I have to ask.
Second, I'm not a ROM flashing via custom recovery fan... The best way to efficiently flash a ROM in my opinion is Odin-Download mode but whatever (your USB port is screwed, so pfu.)
Redownloading apps doesn't work for you? (updating the apk may fix that!)

Yes, I do have used ROMs compatible with my device as they've all are made for espresso3g (which is my device).
I know it's not really the best way but I'll keep on trying with custom recovery for some more time and then perhaps try buying a new cable, and see if that works.
Tried installing Google Play Store from APK both on a clean ROM without GApps and with, but it still doesn't run and keeps on saying that either Google Play Store or "com.google.process.gapps" has stopped.
Alright...
I'm out of idea x/

Hello...!
You could try the following....
1. make absolutely sure you are using the correct version of gapps for the custom rom you are currently using. If your custom rom is on android 6, you need gapps for android 6 for example.
2. after flashing gapps wipe cache/dalvik and make a factory reset BEFORE exiting twrp. You will lose personal data but since you are preparing to give the device to somebody else that should not be much of a concern.
Let me know if it helps, if it does not, I might be able to try and provide additional suggestions.
Good luck!

Hi and thanks for your reply!
1. The ROMs I've been trying to install are all android 6.0.1 and I've been trying with different OpenGApps packages for the 6.0 version which should work (except CM 12 which is android 5.1 with which I've tried OpenGApps and A-Gapps for Android 5.1).
2. Tried that with 3 different ROMs today and the results are following: Slimrom gets stuck in setupwizard which doesn't start, CM 12 starts but the same error as first seems to appear (I get notifications about GApps which stop working) and Lineage bootloops the lineage start screen.

Ok...
This is what I would do if it was my device and I was facing what you are describing. It might take some time and a little patience to do everything described here, but it might also work.
1. Usin Odin, flash latest available official rom for the device. Let it boot and complete setup.
2. Use odin and use CF autoroot to root. Again boot and complete setup.
3. Flash Twrp. Enter Twrp and flash latest flashable supersu.zip. At this time I believe is version 2.82. Again boot and let it reach your welcome screen.
4. Enter Twrp. Enter advanced wipe. Wipe everything except external SD and usb at least 3 times. Do not exit twrp.
5. Install you rom. Do not exit Twrp.
6. After installing your rom, Twrp will ask you if you want to wipe cache/dalvik. "Yes" but DO NOT reboot.
7. Install correct version of gapps for your custom rom (correct both android version and architecture version). Again twrp will ask you to wipe cache/dalvik. "Yes" and this time reboot.
See what happens. If it gets stuck, try entering twrp again and do a factory reset only, only once and reboot again.
If that fails again... I will at a loss here myself too...
I did a quick search here on xda on P5100, I am providing some links that you can take a look at. You probably already searched yourself but you never know...

If nothing else helps, perhaps the best way to go around this would be to find a custom rom with at least some google apps pre-installed, in order to save you the trouble you are currently facing.

Return to official rom

Hello
I was using mokee 7.1.1 https://download.mokeedev.com/?device=nx531j so far and I want to go back to stock ROM: https://www.nubia.com/in/support.php?a=download
Boot TWRP (I believe is 3.0), I do wipe of everything except sdext (internal included, I do not care), install zip with official rom and restart ... Apparent boots ok but stays on the screen "be yourself" 15 minutes and nothing
I have to do something else?
Thank you

Is the stock rom version you are trying to use lower than android 7.0? Because there are many devices in which you can't easily downgrade the system, so results in bootloops.
I think not:
"【Update Info】
The upgrade this time updated to Android Nougat and Nubia UI5.0."
Is nougat too... 7.1.1?..... but mokke is 7.1.2
Is that the problem?! Is minorversion difference...
And... the solution?
And whats about flash boot.img, recovery.img first? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.flashify&hl=es
Ready:
- Repair system option (I do not know if it is necessary)
- Wipe advanced all included sd card
- Format sd card (TWRP option)
- Install zip
- Wipe advanced all included sd card
- Format sd card (TWRP option)

Hello @chascos69, can I make you a little bit question?
Are you experience some bugs on this ROM (Mokee)? Because that's my girlfriend's phone and I flash this ROM for her, is the best ROM she's gotten, but sometimes, when battery goes to 30% or less, her phone shut down. I wipe battery stats on TWRP (Stalence Tools), calibrate (I think did right) battery, but nothing solve the problem.
Another bug, is when she goes to street and turn on the mobile data and turn off Wi-Fi, the mobile data apparently turn on, but she hasn't conection.
Smartphone is new, it doesn't reach year of life, this problems only have in this ROM, I'm not complaining of it, it's really awesome and I know it is nightly version, but I want to know: Have you this bugs too?
Thanks for all man
