The main problem is not root , if u are flashing ota you should have stock recovery . Sometime you can face bootloop while installing . If u want to install 8.4.24 just download from official mi site and flash it in twrp np .

I have a moto E dual Sim !! my phone is rooted with Cynaogen mod 11 installed!! now i cant install motoral service update from playstore to install Lollipop updates!
Rooted phones cannot survive the OTA's.
Don't even try to go for an OTA you would end bricking you phone.

You need to be on stock ROM to install stock updates. As simple as that.
You need to be on pure stock rom (no optimized or debloated) and you can recieve OTA (after ota update u cant downgrade to kitkat) so if u want easy just flah the flashable 5.0.2 update search in forum (this way you can downgrade)
P.S : why not u just flash CM12 as that has more features then Stock ROM and bug free now...

Either flash twrp via fastboot and flash CM12.
Or flash your stock KitKat and wait for LP OTA.
Its totally your choice if you want to remain on stock or continue with custom ROM.
Guys I have a rooted Redmi note 4 with TWRP recovery. I'm on developer beta ROM running dev v7.6.22 and I just got an update to v7.6.29 with 84 mb. I'm unable to update it via TWRP. It's saying that the updating process ended with an error. So no way to update.... we've to wait for full ROM update (like 1.5gb) to jump to the new version.
Or do u guys have any suggestions??
Its occurred because of the TWRP Recovery. You can flash Stock Recovery or u Have to download full update package.

i have redmi note 4 mido and it is currently running on miui 9.2.1.0.i wanted to install the latest miui block update but i faced an issue in twrp,i don't remember the error code but i Googled later and got to know that it's due to boot.img modifications after flashing supersu or lazy flasher.i don't have stock boot.img for this version of miui,so is there any way to remove modifications and restore boot to its original state,i have boot.img of an old miui 8.5.x.x rom..would it work?i have downloaded block update just now but i kept it on hold so that i can restore boot before flashing.is there any way to access that decrypted block update and extract boot.img from it..and would it work?
at last there's only option that if you guys can provide me with boot.img of this version of miui and help me out...

after you boot onto latest MIUI, you can flash TWRP from fastboot with cmd and install MAGISK again.(I also had an instance when i updated the same way but i had Magisk and all the modules active even after updating. Goodluck, though.)

Taking the title of the topic, I would like to clarify a doubt: I am in beta 9.1.24, as soon as they launch a new update of the miui beta, I update by the updater of the device? I lose the data or is it the same way it works in the stable updates?

Updating from beta to beta builds will not erase data. But, if you're a Stable user and try to install a beta build through MIUI stock recovery then your data will be erased.
