Hello guys!
I'm starting this thread as I managed to install win10 on my X90L (Android) YogaBook
It was not easy to find a way to fix the ACPI error but it is possible!
Will update this post in a few hours with a guide on how to do it yourself.

(EXTERNAL KEYBOARD WILL BE NEEDED) AND NO ANDROID INSTALL!!!
So far i got almost everything working except:
- Touchscreen
- Keyboard
- Webcam in the keyboard panel (the other one works fine)
- NFC
- Backlight Control (added 25/5/2018)
I'm getting very near to have the touch and the keyboard working though
P.s. In attach you find the outputs from 3DMark - IceStorm Extreme (default settings), would be much appreciated if someone with the real Win version shared its score

I have added the link to the guide! If yo have any issues let me know but keep in mind that currently no input devices (touchscreen or keyboard) work!
Thanks for posting this. I am really so impressed. Will be trashing my X90F tomorrow. Just got to dig out a powered USB hub. Ill report back, and lets see what happens.

To clarify the process. Decompile the DSTDroid.aml, then insert the OperationRegion (GNVS, SystemMemory, 0x7B3CF000, 0x0369)
Field (GNVS, AnyAcc, Lock, Preserve)
{ etc.. } section from the DSTDroid.dsl and use it to replace the equivalent section in the DSTWin.dsl in your files.
Then compile the DSTWin.dsl with the
iasli -ta DSDTWin.dsl
command.
This is how I am reading it, but have not managed to get it to work yet.
It decompiles with the two errors you mention, but wont recompile no matter how I try it.
I am using Notepadd++ so its not hidden characters.
Any thoughts, and thanks again for your efforts on this.

Hello Broomfundel,
I never got that error, but it seems to be a problem of the ASL Compiler build not of your file.
I am using Mac so I have another build, if you want to post the file I can compile it for you .
Otherwise you can try an older release or to build the tool from source maybe?

Hi, i have the Lenovo Yoga Book Windows version, im crying to install Stock Android on it, can you PLZ write a guide about doing it, or at least if there is a way to install the kernelflinger.efi or the fastboot mode on YB windows it will be great.

Hi,
KernelFlinger is opensource and come with an installer, it should be pretty simple to install it.
Right now I don't have my YogaBook as I am travelling but I can try in the next few days
OK, Older release worked, but I get a .hex file, your instructions talk about a new aml file. Do I use the .hex file or is there another option other than the -ta one that would create the aml.
BTW. I am enjoying this. So thanks again.

With the -ta option I get both the .hex and the .aml file but you can try -tc if it doesn't work. Maybe due to the different build
P.s. (for other people that may incur in this) If you don't get the output files check that you have as last line of the terminal
"Compilation complete. 0 Errors"
OK, I am getting 7 errors. My current theory is that the DSTDWin.dsl will only compile with the same version number of the compiler it was decompiled with. I have attached my DSDTDroid.dsl so you can have a go. At least it will prove I got things right up to that point. Might be worth posting the original DSTDWin.aml for me to try this end.
If we are lucky it might turn out that the patched DSTDWin.aml files are consistent across the same model devices.
So... It seems both pen mode and keyboard mode of holo keyboard won't work... Am I right?
It's sad that if they won't work even we install the drivers from the lenovo website

There you go I'm also updating the files DSTDWin of my blog with one with some fixes Well they depend on the settings you use in your Bios (that's why Windows may not boot after install, it changes some parameters (the wait time of the bios and the default boot partition)). When you use the builtin one is the bios that "updates" it for you but for now we need to do it by hand If we are going to end with everything working we can release a patched "Win" bios and everything will be simpler

I know There something in the DSDT (the file that tells the os which and where your pc components are) that has to be fixed to make Windows see these parts correctly

Just another Question, you as a Advance user, do you believe that we (yoga book Windows owners) can boot Android yb STOCK ROM ( i mean not the Android x86 based distros)?
Yes, but I think you would have to do the "reverse" DSDT injection (from win to android) as the official ROM has drivers for that components.
This means that, if you're lucky you would end up with our same problems (keyboard, pen and touch). If we don't fix that before
The problem with Android is that it is meant to be flashed on rom instead of being installed and this makes things more difficult.
It should be possible to flash the rom on an USB key, add grub and use it for DSDT injection like we do and see what happens.
Another problem is that the provided kernelflinger seems to have most of the security options enabled so 99% it will refuse to boot anyway.
Since it is opensource it should be possible to fix this anyway.
So yes, but it a loooong journey

What is A4D?
The goal of A4D is for us to move beyond just N1 make it an all in one flashing/upgrading/android utility. We just added a ROM library with MD5s. We are not going to be hosting the actual ROMs by themselves so if you report a dead link, they will be taken down (after a number of reports). You can also add your own ROMs as well into the library.
The ROM library will be supported by both Android and Desktop App. We are rewriting the Desktop apps so that we can do all 3 platforms in one, Linux, Windows, and Mac. You'll love the layout of the app. That's all we can say for now.
Oh one more thing. The android app won the best android app award at the Mobile in the Middle Hack-a-thon over the weekend in Chicago (on 3/6/2010).
I would like you guys to try out the app and tell us feedbacks. Also feel free to add your own ROMs to the Database and tell us how we can make the DB better. There a number of features we are trying to add as well. But with our full time jobs... things are going a little slower than we wanted. Sorry.

Add md5 check. Make it in this way: user have to enter/copy-past md5 hashsum from forum/site. Program calculates md5 of image and says image is good or bad. Also you can disable flashing with out this check. ;-)

Radio flash is in there we took it out. May do so in the next release but radio flashing is dangerous (can brick phones) so...

I ask, as I'm having some problems flashing now, based round a slightly faulty Micro SD card. Does it store backups on the phone or on your desktop PC?
This program is written so you don't have to do command line commands. Everything else remains the same. If you are doing a Nand backup, it goes where it used to go.
I would recommend fixing your "slightly faulty Micro SD card" by getting a new card.

There will be a mac port sometime this week. I can most likely port to linux too but if you know linux and if you have to use wrapper, you have an issue

extracted the sdk to the folder C:\android-sdk-windows
extracted android4dummies and clicked setup
I get a pop up with the following:
unable to install or run the application. the application requires that system assembly system.data, entry version 3.5.0.0 be installed in the global system cache.....???
What do I do now?
Sounds like the app uses .NET framework 3.5.
So goto microsoft website an get 3.5 .Net Framework.

You do need .Net 3.5. It should have asked you, if not installed that as a prerequisite.
I went to MS and downloaded the .net 3.5 installed it (apparently it was already on my pc, so instead of installing I tried to repair it. no success....

Can you send us a screenshot.
Do not unzip into C:\android-sdk-windows. App will install SDK or search for the SDK there.
Unzip on your desktop or temp and install from there.
just to be clear, I unzipped adroid sdk and placed in the mentioned location. the android4dummies is extracted on the desktop and executed from there..
so should I remove the SDK and retry?
Ive managed to run Ubuntu Netbook Remix on the A101 in SDE.
By run i mean i see GDM, because the driver for the touchscreen seems not to be working.
What ive did was, i took an image from here: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-netbook/ports/releases/10.10/release/ and copied everything from the data partition to a new .img file. Also ive copied the modules from the angstrom rootfs.img.
Then just copied over my rootfs.img over the angstrom one and booted.
There seems to be lots of issues, mainly, i guess, because the init script in the initrd should do something, the one from angstrom doesnt.
Also the kernel-log says it cant read the /proc/ filesystem.
I uploaded my rootfs img to rapidshare for you to try for yourselfes, maybe someone can pick up from here and build a really working kernel+initramfs.

Kudos! - You could just try to plug in a usb mouse/keyboard into the usb port - it's usb host (mouse and keyboard work in android)
I'd love to see some more action with this. A mouse+keyboard should at elast get you access to the desktop and thus, terminal. From there, enabling the touch screen should be within arms reach.
To experiment for myself, could you write together a fool proof (noob proof) guide to get to where you're at?

i tried that, but it did not work. But that might be because the only Device i have here to test is some wireless usb mouse, which might need some other drivers.
Im currently working on an image with the xserver-xorg-input-evtouch driver built-in. I hope that gets the touchscreen working in X11.
To get started:
Get some Ubuntu.
Install rootstock using: sudo apt-get install rootstock.
Run rootstock:
sudo rootstock --fqdn archos-ubuntu --login ubuntu --password ubuntu --keepimage --imagesize 2G --seed ubuntu-netbook
That one generates an .img file you can copy over your existing rootfs.img.

I had that problem too once.. Just trying again might work rootstock seems to be a bit buggy.
A little update: usb-mice work, when the modules are copied in /lib/modules in the image, but only when no computer is connected on the mini-usb port, that was the problem in the first place.
Wlan driver extracted from stock archos android can be loaded too, but i didnt manage to get the firmware to load yet.

Good God, how awesome it'd be to have a USEABLE distro of linux on the 101 or 70. I love using linux (i have linux mint installed on all 3 computers in my home) and it'd be excellent if i could install an embedded version on my tablet, but alas, i'm a plumber not a programmer! So if someone could post a few links or tutorials to get us started ( as i'm sure there are plenty of gen 8 owners who feel the same as me ) it'd be much appreciated.
Q. Does the 101 it have the same hardware components as the 5 it? The reason i ask is that i think there is a working version of ubuntu nbr for this device and im pretty sure it has the same processor as the gen 8 tablets ( cortex arm a8 ).
Q. Would an amature linux geek like me have any hope of porting it over to our device?
Q. Would it work natively or would we need to modify it?
If anyone else has an interest in having ubuntu on their tablet please post as we have to get this bumped up the list of to do's. BTW, thanks to all you guys in advance and best of luck.

that's only running via vnc - that means no drivers for display and touchscreen and unfortunately won't get us much further
yes it's just a chroot so you can imagine as a ubuntu running with the android kernel. you could try mux the drivers from the angström to the ubuntu kernel and compile the kernel for arm processors this could work, at least integrating ev-touch will help a lot. search for google for ubuntu4arm and you will find some howto.
the reason why i'm outta this is i have not much time at the moment and without a usable on-screen-keyboard (and at the moment there is none) ubuntu is worthless for me on the tablet.
Why o why have there been so few posts on this subject? Are we the only one's interested or is it just too much work to get another version of linux on the gen 8 devices? Really not trying to be rude to any of the developers on xda because i think you guys are awesome, really, but could someone please tell us if this is a worthwhile cause or a pure waste of time and effort.

Going about my due diligence, I have tried several apps to handle this, including Teamviewer, which works on my rooted Samsung phone, and Fuze, which I haven't verified works in other Android versions. Obviously Amazon themselves is capable of this for support reasons, so I know it's doable. Via wifi or USB is acceptable.

I found [email protected] after I made this post yesterday but am having some trouble setting it up. I didn't know in the end whether the issue might have been an Android version issue. If you can confirm that [email protected] works for your HDX, would you mind also PMing me and helping me walk through the setup? These were the steps I took:
Requirements:
Java v7 u51
[email protected] v1.0.2
1) Download and install SDK manager including Platform Tools.
2) Create an (user) environment variable ANDROID_HOME pointing to the "installation directory". (I used "C:\Users\[redact]\Downloads\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20131030\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20131030\sdk\", which contains the "platform-tools" subfolder.)

[email protected] does NOT prompt me for the location of adb.exe and reports success in restarting ADB, which makes me think I set the user enrivonment variable ANDROID_HOME correctly. But neither the HDX nor the i777 show up in the device list for [email protected]
After this frustration, I also turned to ASM with similar results (no devices listed).
In case it matters, I ran both programs by double-clicking their .jar through Windows Explorer rather than via command prompt.

Both [email protected] and ASM are working for me now, albeit with a pretty awful delay (and no control over the device, which I would appreciate but understand is out of the question for now). It's possible that all that was needed was the Fire ADB driver, but I now have the Java Development Kit and a few other things to boot. Maybe it will enable me to dirty my hands in the root-testing grounds, which will probably be my next tackle, pending GSLEON getting some more time on his hands.

I tried j5Create's AndroidMirror, no luck. They claim it works with KindleFire, but apparently not Fire HD or Fire HDX.

I'm an Android firmware developer (you can see my posts here in xda) that got a yoga book yesterday. For me it works at it should (by now) but my hacker soul speak to me and said: "at least take a look to see what you can get from this device". I don't have many time, so I can't spend time doing roms or fixing things by myself, but I can share with you some info I get and help you with my knowledge if someone is interested in "play" with this device.
First of all, I'm not responsable of anything that you can break following these steps. Almost all of them are tested and with some common sense you will not break anything, and if you break anything I will try to help you to fix it (if you are polite), but this is a work in progress and hacking and the possibility of brick the device is always there.
I only have the Android version without LTE, so I only tested in my Book.
So, here we go:
1) Secret codes:
I get this codes decompiling EngineeringCode.apk with apktool. Be carefull with them:

2) OTA Images
You can get OTA images directly from lenovo servers. Just open your browser and paste this url:

Change device model if needed (LenovoYB1-X90F or LenovoYB1-X90L)
Change curfirmwarever to a valid OLD firmware, this way you will get the next one in age.

These images are not full ota images, they are diff versions. This means that we can't use them to mod the image, or recover a bricked device, but this is a first step
3) Custom images
We don't have real sources to build a custom image (the lenovo's open source files are useless), but this doesn't mean that we couldn't modify stock images to take out useless apks or get better performance.
We can get this using an Android Kitchen and a full update image for the device.
As Android kitchen you can use SuperR kitchen (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ap...chen-superr-s-kitchen-v1-1-50-v2-1-6-t3597434)
As full image, I only tested the one here (https://easy-firmware.com/index.php?a=browse&b=category&id=19521) because I can't download any newer one.
I tested uncompressing it, deodexing the apks and doing a new image. But I don't test it in the device because I need to install twrp to flash the new image and I don't have time to test. But this should work, I did it many times so if someone is interested I can give steps to do it and support for testing.
If someone can get the latest full images, send then to me and maybe I can get some time to do some tests.

Sorry, my knowledge of Windows is only user level . Install it in personal computer to play games .
But I really don't know why people wants to run Windows there, it will go slowly than Android and its less touch oriented... but I suppose that this is a chat for another thread

Have you tried running it through Crossover? It may be in its infancy but i have got a few apps running OK with it.
I have the full "YB1-X90F_USR_S000196_1611040312_WW06_BP_ROW" I can upload somewhere if anyone can suggest a good site to do so without signing up? The file is about 2.5gb
It will be great if we could get the latest version, because maybe these older versions have older files that we have updated in our tablets.
Mixing files could give unknown problems
The current TWRP is based on the new Yoga Tab 3
I am starting to think they do not do full roms for this in the same way they do for a lot of their other devices.
We know the otas are available from tabdl.ota.lenovomm.com/dls/v6/ and are named according to the 2 builds that it bridges. As easy-firmware had the december full rom under the file name B1-X90F_USR_S000196_1611040312_WW06_BP_ROW-flashfiles.zip I had hoped that I could work out the file path to pull it down.
There were some interesting ideas here, https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/how-download-stock-roms-lenovos-ota-t3109507 but it seems there is a difference between phonedl.ota and tabdl.ota
Queries to full roms that work for phones, don't seem to work for the yoga book.
Anyone with more web knowledge able to pick this up? I am not sure the files are there but I feel they should be.

Update: the downloads seem to be hosted via CloudFront. An Amazon service, but I can not find out a way of listing the available files. The latest full rom would be

Hey, I should mention that I have some files that you may find helpful; I got them from the easy firmware website. They're all the .img files for each partition in Android (ie. boot.img, cache.img, config.img, factory.img, recovery.img, system.img) as well as: biosupdate.fv, bootloader, firmware.bin and gpt.bin. However, these of course aren't in the normal "flashable .zip ROM" format. So unless you know how to take apart these .img files they aren't very useful. If you need any more help or have any other questions about how far we've come on our own, feel free to ask. danjac also has great knowledge of our efforts.
Yes, I know how to use them, unpack, modify, etc. But what I want is the latest version, no a old version (I hav these files too). If you have them I can do some changes, debloat, etc.
Anyway, I see little interest in custom roms in this forum ( probably because it's not a device with a lot of users or the users are not the techy kind), so I prefer to help others with info than do a custom rom that only 2 or 3 people will use. Doing custom roms is a time hungry task and probably it doesnt worth the effort. Anyway this device is not full of bloatware like samsung ones, so it useable as it is.
As I said in my first post if anyone is interested I can give some hints and support to modify the full image (but only the latest one).
It's so sad that there are only a few interested owners of this tab - it's such a nice device but i fear the day lenovo decides to end their support for it. There will be no custom roms to switch to and keep the device alive - it will be a soon to be bit of old tech garbage BTW. I still use my Asus Transformer Prime because of the nice community
@NiffStipples I fully agree. This device is so powerful and its a suprise that it is invisible to the "market". In my humple opinion the normal ROMs aren't that bad besides missing updates but I would love to see all the power served through a custom rom. unfortunately programming is not my business

Interesting - is Crossover good (and does it require factory reset)?
Hi, It works well with some things and not others. Often the why and where are not obvious. It is basically "wine" the layer that allows some windows apps to run on a linux install. Tweeked to work with android. Just an install to put crossover on. Then another install (Within crossover), to put you app on crossover. If it doesn't work out of the box, there windows libraries you can switch out and dependencies you can install. (Eg: directx , .net) Even if your not technical. I would say get on the beta program and give it a try.

It seems like it's not enabled in Lenovo's default kernel. Could we get to recompile the kernel with this option on? i'm not a big android/ROM expert but i surfed the open_source_code folder from Lenovo and it seemed, to me, that we could rebuild the Kernel at least.
This could really change things!

Good news HP_TOUCHPAD,
It seems like I am the first 'layman' to install HP_TOUCHPAD's Novacom repair tool.
I feel like the first man on the moon! Because it was quite an adventure.
First I had to mount an E: drive using Virtual Clone Drive software so I could place the HP_Touchpad_Novacom_Repair_Android.iso file on that drive. This step did not need to be done, but I am glad I did it because I was able to see all the indivual files that made up the .iso file. As you see in the below pic on drive E:
Then I installed and ran the VM player and loaded the .iso file, but it was complaining that the setting vt-X had to be enabled. So I actually had to go into my PC's BIOS to enable that setting. But as you see in the below pic everything is working now, I just plugged in my Touchpad to my PC, and ran the Toolbox option, and would you believe it, the toolbox came up on my Touchpad, and then I reset the batteries A6 firmware with it. I also tested the WipeAll icon and it also worked with success.
So this tool that HP_TOUCHPAD has created would make J.C. Sullins proud.

You did it the hard way and congratulations!
There is no need to mount the ISO file.
In the Virtual Machine Software, on your case VM Ware Player, just select the ISO file as the operating system to install, remember there is no installation is a Live CD. On the Virtual Machine settings it only needs 1GB of RAM to run or less. Just Run the Virtual Machine and as it shows, once you connect the Tablet to the host then it will ask if you want to connected to the guest machine. Using a Virtual Machine allows not to reboot your Main PC ( host ).
There is no worries about upgrading windows or any OS in fear that the Palm Novacom driver will stop working.
This should work in a Virtual Machine environment for EVER until we die, because the Tablet will keep working.
Burning a CD or a USB flash drive will allow to boot into any PC, anywhere you go. If anyone finds an HP Touchpad in a dumpster somewhere, using this ISO will provide everything need it to have all done from a complete data reset, to the ToolBox and installing any ROM !
HP could have done the same and use the WebOS Dr, on a Linux CD, providing the Palm Novacom drivers and all the details, it would have avoid a lot of confusion with the boot symbols, but to save half a penny it was not included in the box with the Tablet and now the Palm web site is down with no option for a regular user to get the Tablet working. The ToolBox is an Arm Linux architecture of 67MB that loads into memory.
I'll leave all this hocus pocus to your guys. I have two Windows 10 laptops with Novacom drivers installed and they work fine. I did have the one PC where the driver became corrupted, but a simple uninstall/ reinstall fixed it without issue. I personally don't subscribe to one must use a PC with an old operating system installed to get Novacom to work. BTW, what do you call an old operating system, XP? After 9 years of playing of with TouchPads, I have never had a problem installing or using Novacom. Any driver can become corrupted on any PC and a simple reinstall will fix it. I have never not been able to fix a driver issue on any PC that reinstalling the driver did not fix the issue. I am not saying that your method does not have a place in someone's software toolbox. But Novacom is so easy to install. Just right click on the Novacom Installer and click "Install" and in few seconds, it is installed. Put the TPTBv42, TWRP or WipeAll batch files in the Palm, Inc. folder and run them. That just seems so much easier than burning ISO's to CD' s or thumb drives or in VM's and watching all these tutorials to learn how to use your Novacom Repair method. I'm not a software junkie like you guys. I like straight forward and simple. And one click to install Novacom is SIMPLE!

All valid points Smithy, I too have Novacom installed on my Windows 10 64bit laptop, but last time I checked more and more Novacom links to install the software were broken and they were getting harder to find, and I was hearing of others having issues trying to install it on newer PC's.
So the idea of having a Novacom permanently ready to go appealed to me, in case, when we go to Windows 11 or 12 and Novacom does not install, I have learned this new method and will be ready. That being said, I dont really use my Touchpads too much, I just like playing around with new install methods and reading these threads on XDA, and maybe helping a newbie or two. Like you said it would be fun if JC Sullins came back for a day or two and made some final comments on the state of the HP TOUCHPAD, but I guess he did not reply to HP_TOUCHPAD's request to have permission to change the TP Toolbox code for some important modifications that have been needed since 2015 and the advent of incompatible zips. Boy that term is also a blast from the past as was "ttinstall" which is going on in another thread as we speak.

Eventually it will come to that, in the software business nothing has lifetime support, the codes are changing with every update. That is why Virtualization has become so important, any software or Operating system can be use on new hardware if need it, or have a Live Linux CD to repair a broken Operating System. Is not hocus pocus, it is how is done at the present time.

You did not know the driver was corrupted, had to use another PC to resolve the issue and any OS update can render the driver useless and the user will not even know it and then again blame the Tablet for been ""brick".
Old is when the Software Company will not update the OS anymore, on January 2020 Windows 7 becomes OLD.

It is not as easy as you are stating, you are the perfect example. You did not know how to load an uImage into the Tablet. The user must be aware and know how to use the novacom command

Having the Novacom installed on any PC will not fix any Tablet when connected. Plug in a tablet with the triangle or USB symbol to any of your PC with the novacom driver and it will not even show anywhere.
What does the user do then?
Connect the Tablet to an up to date OS and it will not recognized it, not even automatically download the drivers for it from the OS update servers, which in theory by Plug and Play any device connected to the new OS should be recognized and automatically search and install the driver.

On the next Operating System upgrade, the support for old drivers could be block or it could actually crash the system. Does that mean the PC can not be updated or maintain just to use the Novacom drivers to get something done on the Tablet.
Every user can use any method that is easier for them, but the more options and solutions the better as you never know when it maybe need it.

I was always under the impression that all this is open source. That as long as credit was given, one could modify and adapt any thing related to Android, Linux and the like. Why would Sullins care if HPTP updated and improved TPTB? If he has the knowledge and skills, all five or ten of us who still use a TouchPad would benefit. When you run TPTB, no where do you see anything about it being copyrighted or that modifying or improving it is prohibited. Where people get in trouble, they take a program or app, rename it, put their name on it and put it out as their own.
So what is going on concerning ttinstall in another thread? Link?

You missed commenting on a couple of statements I made, 1. I am not saying that your method does not have a place in someone's software toolbox. 2. Hats off to you HPTP for creating an interesting method. It's just not my cup of tea. Those were complements.
Lastly, you are WRONG, I did and do know how to load a uImage, it was the corrupted Novacom driver that was throwing me a curve. Once I used a second PC to prove it could be done, I went back to the first PC, and reinstalled the Novacom drivers. That's called trouble-shooting pal. And your link to post 406 proves my point.

Also to mentioned, the HP Touchpad is the perfect Device to learn Android OS. If you have an Android Smartphone, is risky to modified the OS or make changes, it can be bricked and no way to make a phone call !
The Tablet can be use as the experiment device and see how the internal of the OS works.
One of the most important is the Ramdisk, which required a Linux OS. The user have total control by using this ISO to make any permanent modification and learn. It is not only an OS with Novacom Driver, read the guide again for everything that it can do.

That as long as credit was given, one could modify and adapt any thing related to Android, Linux and the like. Why would Sullins care if HPTP updated and improved TPTB? If he has the knowledge and skills, all five or ten of us who still use a TouchPad would benefit.

and its in the thousands. And even the most recent zip I posted in July already has over 300 downloads.
When you run TPTB, no where do you see anything about it being copyrighted or that modifying or improving it is prohibited. Where people get in trouble, they take a program or app, rename it, put their name on it and put it out as their own.
So what is going on concerning ttinstall in another thread? Link?

Probably a request was never sent, it was a discussion on how to removed the restriction of installing only specifics ROMs. Keep in mind I am not a developer and not connected to that side of the spectrum, I looked for an alternative and found out that I could use TWRP to re-partition and use TWRP to flash any ROM and that is where the Wipe_All came to be.
I saw your post elsewhere about the java installer for Novacom not working any more. There is a Windows installer version you can download here:

Just right click on NovacomInstaller_x64.msi and click install. There is a 32 bit version too. Easy peazy. No java installer needed.

You know there is an easy work-around. Just use one of the compatible recoveries and gapps files available and immediately after installing, flash the updated version of TWRP. Worked like a charm for me when I reverted my TP back to Sullin's CM11 sans swap. Fresh start, complete data reset and all that.

Thanks Smithy I clicked the link and dowloaded the NovacomInstallers and put them on a
thumb drive along with HPTP's .iso file, because you never know how long these "rogue" links
will be up, and when I am going to need it.
As per contacting JCSullins controversy, I can't find the link, but I believe Flintman tried to contact him about the TPTB code back in the Evervolv 5 days, and maybe even some others have tried, and of course Sullins XDA has been inactive for quite a while, but I am sure ( he is no dummy ) he has probably created a new account and comes on here and poses as a newbie once in a while.
I am hearing rumors now that Android Q, will not be named after a tasty treat, because these treats names, Petit Four, Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, IceCream Sandwich, JellyBean, KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo and Pie even though popular treats in the USA, does not mean these treats have worldwide appeal, nor were they fully understood in other languages. So I am hearing Android Q will just be named Android 10, so I guess
we have reached an "end of an era".

I'm not a lawyer, but just because you put that claim of being copyrighted out there does not mean it is. I doubt if he actually ever filed the paperwork to copyright TPTB. Just curious, so you create this Linux Live CD or run this operating system in a virtual machine and regardless of the PC you run it on, it is going to work? So Linux contains all the drivers needed to work on all the hardware out there, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Sony, Asus, Acer, Toshiba, desktop, laptop, regardless?

I agree with you on the copyright Smithy, because recently a music artist named Katy Perry was sued by Flame, because Flame said Katy Perry copied from his song, when she created the song "Dark Horse", if only Katy would have given Flame some kudos/credit for the song, I think Flame would have been OK with it. Plus HPTP wants people to "save a click" and not even press the thanks button, I am sure he does not want any money for his work. So if he gets sued, what is 50% of $0.00, you guessed it a big zero. LOL. I have learned so much over the past 2 years because of everybodies work in trying to improve the touchpad install method, that its worth it for me. But I wish JCSullins could come back for a day or two and tell us his final summary of the past 4 years.
And maybe JC could mend the fences with some people he was at odds with, it would be like the big reunion of Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin, after they had that bitter split for for 20 years, finally reunited during the 1976 Jerry Lewis Telethon.

Nobody has to agree or use any specific method, but the most important is to post valuable and helpful information for any user to have the best experience using the HP TP.
On the Linux Operating System the drivers are incorporated into the Kernel, there are many versions of Linux with different Kernels. Most Linux OS can boot on any Computer and provide support for a lot of hardware and devices, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Sony, Asus, Acer, Toshiba and Apple. All those Personal Computer brands use the same Processor, Intel or AMD with same technology standards. Linux is very powerful it does not need to be install to run on a computer, is call a Live CD or (USB Flash drive).
An example:
The computer hard drive is failing and not booting into the OS, or the boot sector is damage. A Linux (CD) (USB) can be connected to the computer and it loads the Linux OS into memory ( RAMDISK ). Data can be copy from the failing hard drive or the boot sector can be restore, it can resolve many issues.
The Linux version used for the HP Touchpad Novacom Repair is based on Puppy Linux compatible with Ubuntu Bionic. If you read the info the OS is less than 300 MB with more software support that of a full modern OS. It will boot on any Computer, from 20 years ago to the most current. The computer does not need a hard drive and no more than 1GB of RAM. The smallest Linux Distro is Tiny Core :

Is a 16 MB Operating System that support most computers with Graphics, Sound, Networking, Mouse, Keyboard, CD, Hard drive.
The most current FireFox browser can be install to a total OS of about 200 MB and is all loaded into Memory and due to that even a computer that is about 15 years old will browse the web faster that any new one !
Booting from a Virtual Machine will work 100 % on anything even on an ARM processor. It can even be run on any modern Android Smartphone, meaning your phone can connect to the Tablet to repair it.
Virtualization adds a layer of software codes that mimic the hardware that the OS needs to run from.
Puppy Linux is the distro that I found small enough that supports the Novavcom Driver and allows for the Ramdisk to be modified. At only 355 MB total it can be copy onto a 1GB flash drive and still have 700 MB for extra files. It can be boot on any old computer, with no hard drive, monitor, keyboard or mouse. The only thing extra is a network card and USB port. Once it boots VNC Server is active and using VNC Viewer it can be control remotely. There are many ways on using it but no matter how, it will always work as intended.

Is posted on my Guide, I am a user not a developer and all the modifications I am doing is what any user can do, but I am trying to make it easier for others to apply on to the Tablet. I am not creating any proprietary code or special software. But there are other "humans been" that the only thing they care is personal gain and will use others people ideas and work, modified it and call it their own. It happens all over, look into this web site XDA and you will find it. There is a reason for a patent registration that is stronger than just a copyright and even patents takes years to get approved and still others use it.
Jc Sullins spent a lot of time creating the ToolBox and just posted it for everyone to use. Anyone can easily modified it, repack it and distributed with another name and charge, that is the reality. But the ToolBox is not a proprietary software or code, is a version of Angstrom v2015.01, Built from branch: master, Revision: 038d832 (open source )

Running scripts to perform the task with busybox and LVM. There is no custom codes, but the script and that is just a way of writing a command to be executed.
Attached are the list of scripts from the Toolbox, when a user enter an option the script it call and executed by busybox or LVM.
It is very well done and perfectly executed. If the WiFi drivers can be ported to Anstrom Arm OS, a system can be built that will do it all, with web browser built in to automatically download the latest Recovery, Android Version, Resize all Partitions and automatically fix any issues. But the drivers for the HP TP are proprietary and not available or easily portable to other OS.
Read very careful this links, it could have provided the information to create the HP Touchpad Debrick, the Pre phone runs on WebOS, same as the Tablet.
One situation which cannot be recovered so easily is the extremely unlikely event of corruption of the installed bootloader (bootie) stored on the Pre's flash disk.
And this is the Most important, that clearly state that a WebOS device can not be brick even if the bootie is damage.
If bootie on the flash disk has been damaged or corrupted in such a way that booting into recovery mode is not possible, the Pre is still not "bricked" as the OMAP3430 processor in the Pre provides for a mechanism to boot code from its USB interface. At this time this operation has not been performed on a Pixi, and will not be the same as it has a different core.

Thank you for sharing the information, it is good to know that you recently found the Novacom drivers for Windows. I do have all the drivers for all the OS.
On this post August 5 when your Windows Novacom Driver malfunctioned, you asked for the drivers:

I am looking at triangle with an exclamation point in it and www.palm/ROM below that. I'm not bricked so to speak, but I no longer have a boot loader, so the tablet is useless. I now have a nice paperweight.

If the user is using any other OS, Windows as an example, it must know how to open a command prompt in the Palm, Inc directory.
That is not an easy task for a regular user, you could not do it as in your post:

So what's your point. Only thing I see is you saying I'm stupid and you are so smart. That your way is the best and only way because you created it. Do you get a thrill putting people down? I have posted a link to an installer that does not require java, you put me down for that. I pay you complements, you don't even have the courtesy to say thank you. The only issue I had was a corrupted driver that caused the problem. You try to make it out that I don't know what the hell I am doing. I was the one who figured out it was a corrupt driver and I shared that. And why is it that someone asks for a link to a possibly needed file and no help from you. You say you have the Novacom driver for all OS's. How come you could not have provided a link? And BTW, after the fact I realize your suggestions were misleading. To run TWRP, TPTB or your Wipe routine on the TouchPad, all one has to do is run the associated script. No command window needed. I acknowledged early on that hardware was my area of expertise, not software, writing scripts or code. So why are you holding that against me? Oh wait, that makes you the big man cause you know it all and I admitted I did not understand what you were saying. You must live in a really big building to accommodate your huge ego. But that's OK, my TouchPads run just fine without your Wipes, Swaps, Optimizations or Reducers.
And since I am about to say "adios" to this little circus, you should really find someone to edit your threads, posts and guides. I asked you before if English was your first language and you said it wasn't, and it's very obvious it is not. At times it is really difficult to understand what you are trying to say because of it.
