Eh. It's still in dev.
There are recovery flashable zips [update using updater app] available, if you flash them, you'll loose data.
I didn't updated mine too, I'm still with 6.0.1, it's the stable one for me.
I don't wanna update to Nougat based Miui as I got my device unlocked earlier today, I'll be flashing Custom Roms. Will ditch Miui. :silly:
I suggest you to just stick with 6.0.1 based Miui rom, it's the stable one, as far as I know, Nougat based Miui Roms are in dev, so once you flash em you'll loose data + it'll be difficult to revert to stable versions.
So stick with 6.0.1, otherwise get your phone unlocked, flash custom ROMs.
Or wait for stable Miui [Nougat based] release.

Thanks for your suggestions i will stick on it. I wanted it because on additional setting / Region there is not listed my Country nor United States. I thought update will solves that.

Oh, not sure about that
Hi there,
just wondering whether we finally got Android 7 for our device? According to these threads it should be the case:
https://xiaomininja.com/2017/02/11/...i-8-china-developer-rom-7-2-9-is-rolling-out/
https://www.getdroidtips.com/manually-update-redmi-note-2-miui-8-v7-2-9-android-nougat-2/
But I am currently using MIUI 8 Global 7.5.4 Beta which is still Android 5.0.2 - maybe this is due to not being developer ROM.
What I do not understand is the flashing guide from 2nd link: Do I have to install both versions? Recovery and Fastboot? And does anybody already have this ROM in use? Can it be just flashed over Global Weekly Beta?
Thanks for your responses!
Bye
have a try? Is it really Android version nougat?
@Renth You have to post this in original developer thread when it is just a noob question? It is completely fake news - don't post this crap here.
@jajk: Ok, then some mod will have to move this thread (or can I move it myself?). My knowledge also has been that there is no Android 6 resp.7 for RMN2. But why do you think it is fake?
Even MIUI Germany talks about it here.

We will not get Nougat or even Marshmallow officially ?
I admit the list is somewhat confusing since it also says:
Aktualisierte Geräte : ... Redmi Note 2 ...

=> Which means updatedd devices and:
Optimization - Android N update (02-20)

I admit it might mean that all listed devices got some updates but not all of them received Android N (was really suprised and could not believe it myself). Anyway I asked within the changelog thread.

You can't flash the firmware of a different phone to yours. You need to build a rom from source with the device tree of your device. That's the way it works.

Ok, seems you don't understand how Android works.
You can't install another rom on your device cause the drivers inside the rom are not suitable for your device and it's not like installing windows on any PC which has universal drivers.
No, Android roms has only one set of drivers for one device.
Hi, I want to root my S9+ Exynos but I'm not able to find any updated guide that works without issues with Pie.
I tried to root with an old guide for S9+ Oreo, but not working for Android 9 Pie.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards

Hi
I have recently acquired a Korean LG-F700S G5 model which I want to root.
However, nothing seems to work.
None of the One-click apps succeed.
I have used the download mode to go from Android 6.0.1 to 8.0 and back to 7.0,
using Uppercut & LGUP (going back to 6.0.1 does not work?)
Fastboot mode is not available, so I can't use TRWP or similar tools to flash a
custom recovery.
Today, I got to know about the CVE-2019-2215 vulnerability which is supposed to work on many Linux kernel versions.
See e.g. github.com/grant-h/qu1ckr00t or googleprojectzero.blogspot.com/2019/11/bad-binder-android-in-wild-exploit.html.
Would that vulnerability work on Linux Kernel version 3.18.31 of Android 7.0 currently on my G5?
Has anyone succeeded to exploit the CVE successfully on a Korean LG-F700S phone?
Yes. It does. I flashed Oreo with SLP Aug. 1, 2018 and the su98 exploit found here on XDA.

This is good news. Maybe all other models can be rooted this way.

Well, not really useful on Korean models. Bootloader cannot be unlocked so even temp root seems
pretty useless in the end. Even unwanted carrier apps cannot be deleted, courtesy of DM-verity.
