List names of current icons in the status bar - LG V30 Questions & Answers

I am trying to hide the 4G/LTE icon from the status bar on my VS996 using the adb icon_blacklist method. I am trying to find out the name of the icon so I can hide it. Is there a way to list which icons are currently in the status bar? I'm obviously not rooted, but if there is a way to find the names of the icons with root, if someone could dump that information and post it here that would be very helpful. The VPN icon is another one that has been difficult to hide for myself and other users. These icons must have an LG/Verizon specific name, but after MUCH searching and trial-and-error (guessing names) I am still coming up empty. Please help!

Try system UI Tunner from play market( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner) But I dont think I saw an option to hide the 4g icon ..or for me ..u can hide signal and many more others . U have a tutorial inside de app how to enable acces to it with ADB commands

I have already installed SystemUI Tuner and have submitted an issue on Github for precisely this: SystemUI Tuner doesn't hide the battery, 4g, or VPN icons in the status bar. That is why I am trying to determine the system names of these icons so I can hide them manually.
I also looked in framework-res.apk > res/values/arrays.xml and these particular icon strings are not provided there (or the one's that are do not work).
Is there a way to dump the contents of the status bar at a given time? Apps like Status are able to overlay the status bar to use different icons (though not in Oreo). How are these applications determining which icons to show (e.g. when is Wifi off, how much phone signal strength, etc)? I have tried looking through the Status source code but it is incredibly complicated and I am new to Android development (though I have plenty of programming experience in other languages and on other platforms).
Thanks for the response! Hopefully there is a way to solve this

Yes, that is the method I am using, read the initial post. However, adding "battery" to the blacklist doesn't hide the battery icon. And there is no documentation for what the stupid 4G icon is named. And "vpn" doesn't hide the key icon. That's what I am trying to figure out: those icons must have non-standard names (by LG/Verizon to make it harder to get rid of them). That's why I am now looking for any way to read the names of the icons that are currently being displayed on the right side of the status bar.
Is there any way to do this?

Using the following command:
Code:
adb shell dumpsys activity service SystemUIService
I get the following output (relevant sections shown):

? Could this be the "feature" I am looking to change to hide the extra 4G icon? Is there any way to edit these feature states through adb without root? Also, some of the "Icon slots" (like volume) have definitions for their icons, while some (like wifi) are null. Could I redirect this to another icon in some way?

[Q] When browsing with enabled VPN, phone reboots itself.

I created VPN connection: L2TP/IPSec CRT VPN
When i connect to it and then start browsing using any of browsers available: Dolphin HD, FF or original one the effect is the same.
Website will start to open and then - SGS2 will suddenly reboot itself. This happens every each time, like 100% of attempts.
I have Android 2.3.4 on non-rooted phone. The same was when i had 2.3.3.
All browsers are up to date.
Have someone met with similar issue?
Does anyone use VPN on SGS2?
Maybe you could say which VPN settings work for you and don't crash your phone?
I've the similar issues.
every time I try to connect VPN(via PPTP), it reboots 100%.
EDIT: this only happens in 3G network. It's fine in wireless network. and when I had official Fireware, VPN connection is fine in wireless network, but can't connect in 3G network.(not reboot, but can't connect).
UPDATE: I use openvpn now, it works both in 3G and wireless network.

Same problem here. I opened another thread about this.
It looks like the problem is there with 2.3.4 and 2.3.5

I use L2TP IpSec with PSK (because PPTP won't connect with my carrier in China). And everytime my phone reboots after a while (it's not only when surfing, just doing anything using data connection).

mainboard replaced - No cellular network

Hello,
My i9100 died some months ago, it was impossible to boot (Tested different batteries, SIM-cards and chargers). I think it was overheating when I used it for the last time.
I bought a used mainboard from China and build it into my phone. It had Stock Gingerbread installed and was used in Iran.
An IMEI-analysis says that the board is a european version

I use cm12.1 (12.1-20150430-UNOFFICIAL-i9100) but I also don't have cellular network with other ROMs. GPS, Wifi, BT etc. are working
Search for mobile networks is not successful and I can't execute USSD-Codes. The efs-partition is not corrupted. Most files are from 2010, last changes 2013.
Do you have any idea how to solve this?
Best regards
Have you checked which baseband software version is showing under "about phone"? This is stored in /dev/block/mmcblk0p8, and would not be updated by installing CM. I think I9100XXMS4 was the last European one. Rather than messing around with installing this, you can simply install Sale's NeatROM (modified Samsung 4.1), before installing CM etc.
---------- Post added at 03:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:52 PM ----------
Another thing to consider, but I not sure how you'd check or fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/external-antenna-socket-warning-t1273292
This would mean the radio modem is booted & working OK, but no antenna = no signal = no networks.
My baseband was XXKI4. I installed XXMS4 but that didn't change anything.
The antenna socket is not damaged or anything but i don't know how to check the functionality without destroying the coonnection to the internal antenna (provided it works at all).
Hmmm @tgb456
Install stock 2.3.3 and root it.
Connect your phone to PC into ADB. Start logcating and make log:

[ROM][STABLE][4.4.4][UNOFFICIAL][SM-G313H/HZ/ML] CyanogenMod 11 for Samsung Galaxy V

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.4.4 (KK), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*
*/
BEFORE INSTALLING THIS ROM, MAKE SURE YOUR DEVICE MODEL IS THE SAME AS TITLE
Thanks to @JeffersonCaf for confirmed working on SM-G313ML
CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
We'll not support users and answer questions from users which:
have flashed mods
modified system files
didn't follow our intructions word by word
are unfriendly
What's working:
Wifi (connection, WiFi Direct (testing), tethering, etc)
Bluetooth
RIL (Calls, SMS, mobile data for both SIMs)
Storage (both internal and external)
ART (but don't use this as daily because some apps could FC due to compatibility)
MTP storage (both internal and external)
Offline charging
zRAM (compressed-RAM swap)
GAPPS (both ART and normal gapps)
Tethering (USB, Wifi, Bluetooth)
Hardware rendering
Camera
Torch (flashlight)
GPS
Video codecs
Sound recording
BUGS/Not working (none for SM-G313HZ, but...) :
(SM-G313ML) Mobile data doesn't work (this will remain unsolved permanent because we don't have the phone)
BUGS REPORTS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
*Before reporting bugs please include logcat to help us solve the problems easier
NOTE: Bugs report for this ROM is closed, as it is already at stable state now
This ROM is suitable for daily use
First time installing CyanogenMod 11.0 to your Galaxy V, or coming from another ROM:
Install ClockworkMod Recovery (OR TWRP)
Reboot into Recovery using 3-button-combo (Vol-up+Home+Power)
Do a Nandroid backup! (Optional and only if you weren't running TouchWiz before)
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition + format /system partition)*
Install the ROM from sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery (OR TWRP)
Optionally install the Google Apps (GAPPS)
*NOTE: If you're running TWRP recovery, you must FULLY WIPE DATA on Wipe >> Wipe data >> Type "yes", not swipe to factory reset. If not, you would get bootloops sometimes

FAQ
1. Why i'm getting bootloops after only wipe data w/o /data/media internal storage?
A: Because sometimes, our /data partition is corrupted, so full wipe is possible.
2. Do i get OTAs everyday?
A: No! Because we're not get this to official, so no OTAs
3. Is init.d supported?
A: Yes, all CyanogenMod ROMs support this, so be free at scriptings
4. Can you include Samsung Apps/ ABCXYZ features here?
A: No! But, you can customize this ROM for your own. If you wanna release it public, give proper credits.
5. I've installed on SM-G313H, but my phone is single-SIM, so why i'm getting dual-SIM?
A: Remove "persist.radio.multisim.config=dsds" from build.prop to switch to single-SIM mode.
6. I'm on SM-G313H/ML, but when installed this ROM, i got SM-G313HZ, why?
A: This ROM is mainly created for SM-G313HZ. If you want to get back to your phone model, change "ro.product.model" in build.prop to your phone model.
7. I can't connect to WiFi?
A: Use any root browser software, go to /data/misc/wifi, change "ctrl_interface" from wpa_supplicant.conf from "wlan0" to "/data/misc/wifi/sockets"
8. WiFi Direct in Settings is not working?
A: This feature is in beta-testing. You can use any 3rd-party software to use this feature.
9. What kernel is using in this ROM? Can i install any kernel on this ROM?
A: Mostly is stock kernel with sth modified to work with CM. You could use any kernel in this CM as you want, but don't send bug reports or confuses about bricked your device due to installing custom kernel. Read carefully first if you're going to install custom kernel. If your device is soft bricked, restore it with Odin or reinstall the ROM with factory reset.
10. Why i can't move apps to SD card?
A: Google and CM themselves removed the code of App2SD from framework mainline, so this feature is unavailable
11. Why i can't call to anyone, even you said that RIL is fixed?
A: You've to active SIMs first, by go to Settings >> SIM cards >> Configure SIM cards >> Touch active (ON/OFF switch) to active SIMs and use them as usual
12. Why installing apps is so damn long?
A: Due to our phone's nature, a 512MB RAM and single-core CPU so if many apps is running background, this could happens. Installing full gapps play a role with this too
13. Where's transparent status bar?
A: You have to enable developer options first, by go to Settings >> About phone >> 7-taps on build number >> Back to settings >> Performance >> Choose "Force high-end graphics" >> Reboot
14.Why after recording, my videos are blacked-out? And changing snap pics << >> recording the screen is nearly black?
A: First, before recording, you've to change codec to MPEG4 first in camera settings. The screen is nearly black because camera's low-light detection module seems broken. Switch to other modes >> Get out camera app >> Reopen it again to fix.
15. Missing 480p quality on YouTube, tho stock still have it?
A: Look at build.prop, change Android version to 4.4.2 and reboot, feel the magic

Explain in English please I don't know Spanish
Instructions was in OP, you can understand it even you're a noob.
For apps force-closing, you need to add this to build.prop (i'll add it to the next future builds)
Code:
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=5m
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=48m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=128m
dalvik.vm.heaptargetutilization=0.25
dalvik.vm.heapminfree=512k
dalvik.vm.heapmaxfree=2m
Edit: Fixed on newer build!
New build. Changes:
Code:
- Fixed bluetooth (yay!)
- Partially fixed video decoding (you can still watching YouTube videos but with low res. FB playback still dead for now)
- Now with zRAM enabled (harder multitasking)
- GPS fixed
- Apps FC fixed (due to OOM-situation, because of missing dalvik lines from build.prop)
Can't let this damn RIL thing to work. IDK what Sammy does to its stock (our stock is KitKat, but it doesn't requires any SIM-card registeration LOL)

Have you checked the permissions? Changing libbinder on the go can cause this, I prefer to use aroma file manager to change this libs... And set perms.
And yeah, we had the same problem of camera freezing while taking pics. This binder fixed it.
And this libbinder actually worked on 2 sprd phones.
Infact, the libbinder from core3 stock ROM atleast got us to homescreen.

LOL, i though AROMA recovery FM already changes permission to default during copy files?
Another Q: which one?
Edit: even deleted the default and copy the downloaded one doesn't work

Samsung Galxy Young 2 (stock kitkat) suddenly restart when loses cell signal

Hello all,
this is my proble. My Samsung Galxy Young 2 (SM-G130HN single SIM) stock kitkat sudenly restart when loses cell signal. The problem is not with weak signal, but only when it loses the signal. No fcs, no erros, it only restarts suddenly.
Another problem that I think is related with this issue, is thaT, if I have enabled only 3G OR 2G/3G and I try to choose my network operator, the phone suddenly restarts too. If I have choosed only 2G and I try the same, there is not any problem
I have tryied to take a logcat with aLogcat, but it does not record anything when the phone restarts, so the only logcat I have is one trough Android Logger (for Note++) for the Radio log:
Code:

[APP] Amazfit Internet Companion - Generic internet companion app for Pace/Stratos

Amazfit Internet Companion
Amazfit Internet Companion is a generic and open source internet companion app for the Amazfit Pace and Stratos. It allows apps developed with the Amazfit Communication library to access the internet over Bluetooth via your phone's internet connection.
It DOES NOT allow any old Android app on the watch to access the internet over Bluetooth.
Usage
Simply download the latest release to your PHONE (again, this is a phone app, NOT a watch app), and install it as you would any other APK (you may need to enable unknown sources). Run the app at least once for it to work, and that's it!
You can also install the app over ADB, with your PHONE plugged into your PC, NOT your watch, using:
Code:
adb install -r AmazfitInternetCompanion-1.0.2.apk
The app can be hidden from your app drawer, to access it again (for debugging or to restart the service if it fails), simply add it as a shortcut to your homescreen, or if you're using Android 6.0 or above, go to the app info for the app and use the settings icon there
Developers
If you are using the internet functions of the AmazfitCommunication library (LocalURLRequest), you need to have your users install the latest build of this app on their phone. Either include your own guide of how to do that (linking to the apk on the GitHub repo), or simply link them here
Alternatively, feel free to use this as a base app to make your own companion app, note how the actual listening and sending of data is done in a foreground service to allow it to work without this app being open
Screenshot
This isn't really needed but here's what the companion app's UI looks like. Basic isn't it?
:victory: Seems quite easy
So there are no conflicts with Amazfit apk?

It's separate, so it runs a separate service for it
When making the library, I had two attempts before the one that worked. The first used reflection on the Amazfit App (on the phone, WearBLE on the watch). This worked, but the channel listener didn't, so you just had to send and pray. The second used some dex2jar and some reflection, which didn't work at all really.
Because all the code was reversed and is separate from the Amazfit App, it just communicates with it as if it were the same app. I don't know why Huami allows this really, but I'm not complaining!
Unfortunately it crashes ui thread on my phone after launch this app. OnePlus5 Android 8.0.
Installed 1.0 on my phone. So far so good, now we just need some internet enabled watch apps for it.
Great work

There's no crash in there, please either post the whole thing as an attachment or just filter by error instead

Seems OnePlus managed to break yet another SystemUI thing in the form of adaptive icons as notifications. Try the attached APK, see if that works
This version works fine on my phone! Thanks ! It's time to create some app for pace.

The pingback is only to tell the watch it's received the request and to not show an error, the fact it's returning HTTP_RESULT means it's working

So, main issue - when I try to send request to any resources I got only
D/AmazMod: [D]: Transporter-Classic[com.kieronquinn.app.amazfitinternetcompanion] -> OnDataReceived Action : com.huami.watch.companion.transport.amazfitcommunication.HTTP_PINGBACK
And I don't get
D/AmazMod: [D]: Transporter-Classic[com.kieronquinn.app.amazfitinternetcompanion] -> OnDataReceived Action : com.huami.watch.companion.transport.amazfitcommuni cation.HTTP_RESULT
Only txt files or site with small text returns HTTP_RESULT. What can I do?

Post the full logcat with the big files, and also remember that this is being converted and sent over bluetooth, so it's slow and you need to give it time

Code:
localURLConnection.setDoOutput(false);
Should fix it, but I left an error in the companion app where it ignores the databundle for doInput/doOutput and always has them set to true. Build 1.0.2 on GitHub fixes this.

Unfortunately nothing has changed after updating InternetCompanion and add localURLConnection.setDoOutput(false) in code. Still don't get response. https://jsonplaceholder.typicode.com/posts/1 - try this resource with your lib for example.
