hi guys i donno if this question is dumb or not but let me describe the problem.
I'm using linux deploy on my redmi note 4 snapdragon variant for a long time, (installed arch linux on it) and it works really satisfying specially when i connect it with usb cable to my laptop and create a wired network between my phone and my laptop , installed everything that i need on linux , and the file size is near 8GB , (i would like to share it with you but i couldnt upload it) i was thinking about my old lumia 950 and continuum dock, anyway, so the thing i want to do is , i like to receive my phone notification on linux deploy, i googled and found out that there is an app called KDE connect (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kde.kdeconnect_tp&hl=en) , so i installed it on my phone and installed the one that was available on arch linux, i set them to work with local ip and didnt get any outcome, so i decided to use localhost, and it paired !!!!!!! but no notification came to my linux.
anyone can help me with this ?!

Hi folks,
as you can see my Pretec SD WIFI Card works fine with WM2005. And know I would like to get some WIFI Tools which are working with this configuration.
I just testet WIFIGRAPH, WIFIFOFUM and Wifi Tools and non of these worked.
Is there somebody out there with the same configuration and a solution?
Thank you very much in advance.
I had WiFiFoFum working on 2005...
I used the SmartPhone WLAN drivers though..
Sadly, I re-installed 2003SE.. ..so I can't help you debug..
Thank you very much for your reply. Just one question: What do you mean with "SmartPhone WLAN drivers"? The built in drivers? Got a link?
Thank you very much in advance.
Terms used in this post:
Pocket PC - A handheld device that has a 320x240 touch screen and runs Windows Mobile 2002/2003/2003SE
SmartPhone - A handheld device that looks like a mobile phone and runs some kind of Windows OS...
WM5 - Windows CE 5.0 (uncorrectly reffered to as Windows Mobile 2005)
U see, WM5 is sort of a merge between Pocket PC and SmartPhone if you look at the OS structure..
You can run SOME applications that were made for SmartPhones on WM5.
You can run MOST applications that were made for Pocket PC on WM5.
This is mainly because the hardware specs are more similar to a Pocket PC than a SmartPhone.
The WLAN drivers produced for Pocket PC (WM200x) doesn't work on WM5.
How ever, the drivers for the same WLAN card written for the SmartPhone OS does work under WM5.
All you need to do, is visit the pretec, sandisc, socket or what ever webpage, download the files for a SmartPhone and install these on your Himalaya..
It should work like a charm!
And I do think there was a post somewhere around here that had a link and description..
Maybe if we do some SEARCHING?
Thank you very much for your explanation and thank you very much for the hint of SEARCHING, but I did some searching yesterday on this forum and used some googling.
Anyway, the driver from Pretec works like a charm and I can connect to other machines and in the Internet. The only think, is that the WiFi Tools don't work.
Thats the only problem.
Well, good to hear that you got the WLAN up and running..
I do believe that I got WiFiFoFum working, but I might be wrong..
Hi,
I tried several tools (aNetShare, tetherBlu, Wifi tether) but I can't tether my MacBook to my Hero!
Bluetooth: my Mac is telling me, that no additional BT-service is available except the speakers. I.e. no PAN is available.
Wifi: my Mac shows me the Hero as an access point. But connecting to it has no effect, neither on the Hero neither on my MacBook (except the wifi-icon on the mac is changing to a small console, but greyed out).
Of course, I have rooted my Hero and it's working (tried with several tools). Is tethering Hero and MacBook an impossible mission?
Android doesn't support PAN, only HFP and A2DP.
I haven't tried the apps you mention. DO any of them specifically say that they add PAN to the device?
I'm not familiar with this bluetooth stuff, but with other phones, my MacBook tethers over bluetooth with PAN connection. That's why I assumed that type of connection here, too.
No, not possible with Android.
Like i said, the Android OS only supports HFP and A2DP. If those apps do not specifically add the PAN profile to the hero, and i very much doubt that they do, then you're not gonna get anywhere.
If you need to use the phone as a modem with your mac, you're S.O.L with android!
I have messed around trying to tether my Hero with my Mac book air for a couple of weeks and tried pretty much everthing without any sucess. All the wifi tether apps out there dont seem to like macs and bluetooth failed too.
In the end I found a working solution but its not ideal - however it does work.
Installed Pararellls desktop ( Vmware would probably work too if it has good USB support - never tried it)
Installed windows XP as virtual OS
Installed PDAnet for windows ( mac version doesnt exist )
Installed Phone drivers under windows virtual machine
So now I run windows as virtual machine to tether my HTC hero with my Mac, it works well most of the time, unless the connection is dropped then Pdanet cant see the internet connection any more and requires an OS reboot.
I hope this saves some of you guys the time I lost
naaa.. get the modaco custom rom.
the android-wifi-tether app issue is present for macs and pcs, it is actually do to the hero itself and not your computer, you need to get the custom rom (awifiteth comes pre-installed) and that works perfectly on my macbook!
the custom rom adds iptable support and so it now works..
Is it not possible to make an app that injects this code into the official firmware running Hero's ?
Also, I guess the telco's are helping ensure the manufactures disable any possible way to tether as they have no current mechanism to charge for it unless you buy one of their dongles and pay though the nose for another contract

No, the official firmware is "non-rooted," meaning that you and your downloaded apps won't be able to access the Linux system on a read-write basis, which is necessary for tethering apps, as they likely all need to change the iptables to alter the way network routing occurs within the phone.
But possible once someone works out how to root the latest firmware ?
If someone does this, I would pay gladly for the app if it allowed me to use the Hero as a 3G/HSDPA modem.
Hey guys long time no see. im usually in the Android Kiaser section, but I got a different question for today. A good friend of mines recently got a old computer. It had a lot of viruses on it and I cleaned them out. Once I was done with that, I had her o/s up and it was running a lot faster than before.
Anyway, she wanted to use her Optimus T as a modem because she doesnt have internet connection or DSL in her house. She is a genius and all, so she picks up stuff very fast . especially in IT and computers .
Well she followed the tethering instructions for XP and downloaded it to her phone. She then hooked it up to her computer and when we searched for the file, it was there but it could not be launched.
Now I advised eher to come here and ask you guys for help, but she is very prideful and wants to figure it out on her own. Now if this were a simple hardwre issue no problem . but since this is a networking issue , and well you guys are far more experienced in these matters, I was wondering if theren were a special program she needed or something like that for her computer to properly launch the program needed for her phone to go online
Well I used to be in the same boat With the internet. Although It wasn't a smartphone. The solution i came up with after days of trying was the phone in question needed an initialization command pointing to the apn of the phone. This was accomplished with no special software just windows built in capability, on a standard sp 2 machine. I would try my optimus but i have win 7 x64. Anyway not sure whether it helps or not but the proper initialization command would be something like AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”epc.tmobile.com” the number to dial should be " *99# "
The post below me is also good. It is usb network instead of modem.

You basically have two options to go about doing this. Switch on Data on your phone ..
1. Connect the phone via the USB cable and select the LG PC suite application, under Tools there is a option of Internet connection using Phone.
OR
2. Connect the phone via the USB cable, do not run the LG suite, instead on the phone in Settings -> Wifi & networks Use the portability and tethering option. The first option is USB tethering, the second is Wifi. Just select the USB one. THis will create a local network between the phone and computer and allow you to access the internet ...
Cheers !

..Well third option is to use P500 as a bluetooth modem to access Internet.
You have to pair the devices and use bluetooth dialup profile. This post is sent that way from my Compaq nx8220 laptop
use pdanet
I'm trying to tether my fatheta optimus but it can't find the Ethernet control module (ecm) drivers. I Google searched for.the drivers with no luck is there any place were I can get that driver.
Trying to USB tether on vista 32bit

Hey guys, I have been looking for a way to control my CM 10.1 DNA through my PC (Windows XP SP3) and have tried a few things with no luck. I got android screencast working, but found that I couldn't operate the phone through the PC (and it was very laggy). If I might be missing something here, then let me know.
I also tried using apps like 3CX DroidDesktop and when I attempt to connect from my PC I get errors. I'll enter in the IP and port and I usually get an error that says my phone refused the connection. I've tried Real VNC, Tight VNC, and even just the browser. I'm a total noob at this so I apologize if this question has already been asked or something. And yes the phone and laptop are both connected to the same Wi-Fi connection.
Thanks for any and all help guys!
Edit: So I've gotten it to work through USB, and realvnc but I do not have the ability to control with the keyboard or mouse
Hi! In conjunction with my hobby and bussines It's very important to have a possibility to run windows (xp, 7, 10, whatever) and It's lovely when i can connect something with RS232 port - with usb otg and cable ubs-rs232 or bluetooth - RS232 device (i'll suspend It's probably not possible to run, becouse cpu architekture) or option to emulate windows from vmware. Can somebody help me? I search all Google threads, and nowhere can find thats info. You don't have to write instruction 4 me. I'll would be gratefoul for tags what can get me closer to solution.
Edit:
Second solution it would be that i can have pc in home and connect to it program like teamviever. But any of team viever like program can transmit rs 232 with stable connection to pc?
Edit2:
Can use Team Viever and "usb Network Gate" It's available for android and windows. But i'm happy when don't be depended from internet connection. If It's possible to run windows on Phone, eaven if It's slow emulated version
