what is screen shape status icon mean? - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Anyone know what is this screen shape icon mean?
The one with yellow cycle, on the left side of Bluetooth icon.

It means the phone is locked to portrait mode.

Thanks. It used to default "No Show" when I toggle the setting.
Anyway to make the phone not showing that icon. It is kind of wasting space. Just like alarm icon.
I miss the old time when we are able to disable each icon from control.

I actually want that icon to appear on my status bar, if it really is the rotation lock icon. How did you make that show up?

I don't know which CSC make it show up. In my case, I refresh to force it set to BTU solve this. It is come showing now.

Does Somone know what this icon is?

There's no way I can know what it is
Draw down the notification bar, tap Notifications. This just tells you that notifications are currently disabled.

it also can mean you have more notifications than can be displayed in the top bar at the present time.

[Q] Icon in Status bar after OTA Update

Hi all,
Just updated my SIII with the OTA update (Android 4.0.4) and I now have a random icon on the status bar I can't get rid of? (See image)
The icon is in the top left of the screen (Looks like an Info sign crossed out?)
Galaxy S III Screenshot
I've looked in the manual but there is nothing written about this icon? Anybody have a clue what it is? Or how to get rid of it?
Thanks,
Matt
It just means you have notifications turned off (they changed the icon to match the one you turn it on with in the notifications drop-down and hence it's not in the manual)
Only way to remove it is switch notification back on.

Thank you very much for that!
No worries, I only know because the old icon did my nut in for the same reason (couldn't figure out what the hell it was!)
I also have an icon sticking there but mine is a grey square inside which there is a minus. I find it so annoying! Is there a way to remove it? What does it even mean?
dasistsparta, that actually sounds like the old icon for notifications (assume you haven't updated your firmware to XXBLFB yet)
Try turning notifications on and see if it goes away.

Turning notifications back on removes that icon. Thanks!

Limit the number of notifications

Is there anyway to limit the number of notifications displayed at the top of the screen to around 8? I got icons stacking in behind my clock and it makes seeing the time near impossible at times
Only option on the phone is Settings, Display, Status Bar, Show recent notifications only.

Hide status bar with certain apps

Is there a way to hide the status bar at the bottom on certain apps automatically instead of having to manually hide and unhide it? For instance, I always want it hidden when I am playing Pokemon Go so that I get a full screen experience, but I want it to be there when I leave the app to go do something else.

Have you tried going into settings and then display and finally ",Full screen apps?" Because that's how to do the bottom bar.
Yeah I have all apps set to full screen, but I thought that had more to do with making sure the app filled the entire screen than whether or not the status bar is hidden.

Yeah, you're right it doesn't even hide it anymore like it used to.. I just tried it and it did nothing at all but when I used to do it before it would make the bars go away at the top and bottom and give the app full screen but I'm not getting nothing at all now which is weird..

Question How to Hide Persistent App Icon

So I'm coming from a pixel 6 pro to the galaxy s23 ultra. It's my first Samsung phone so I'm still getting familiar with the Samsung flavor of Android.
Is there a way to hide/not display an apps persistent notification icon from the status bar? I use a diabetic monitoring app(xdrip+) which has to always be running for obvious reasons. The app produces a graph which is always visible when I pull down the notification bar, I like that peice and want to keep it. However having the icon displayed in the status bar at all times is an eye sore.
On the pixel (and previously my oneplus 7 pro) I could set the notification to "silent" and it would hide the icon but would still display the graph in the notification bar. I can't find a way to mirror that on my galaxy s23. I can disable the persistent notification all together, but then I lose access to the handy graph.
When the notification shade is down and all notifications are visible you tap and hold the notification you want to change and after a moment a few options will appear and you tap settings and it takes you yo settings for that notification

I tried that, and setting it to "silent" didn't do anything sadly. I also tried disabling the notification entirely but that sadly made the graph go away as well.

At the bottom tap notification categories and go through there

Ahhhhh thank you. I fooled around a bit in there before but didn't realize that there were sub options within sub options. Thank you so much for the help, I'm now able to hide the icon.
