Both of them do not work on t-mobile even though they have all the bands. Signal is strong. Is there some command that will let me check radio status ?Mate 10 has similar bands to Mate 9 and my mate 9 works fine even if I disable volte. Mate 10 sometimes will fail to make a phone call or if it is being called it will go straight to voicemail. When I get connected I can't hear anything on my Mate 9, but I can on op3t.
Is anyone successfully using it on tmo usa ? This makes no sense to me.
I did factory resets, different sims and had t-mobile refresh the lines

I've been using the ALP-L29 on TMo for a month now and no issues with voice or data. Just took the sim out of my Nexus 6 and put it into the mate 10. Didn't do anything else.
Maybe check the apn? As far as bands, you can download Network Cell Info Lite to see what bands the phone is connecting to.
I have had my Mate 10 (non-pro) for about a week now and I use it on T-Mobile just fine. Why not install a 3rd party app like Open Signal from the Play Store and see what is going on? Also an app like GPS Status is good for GPS functionality. The fact that you have two of them, and both do not work, makes me suspicious that something else is going on with them both...maybe they are not flashed properly with the correct regional software?

The APN is correct, I compared it to Mate 9 is exact same. I will have to check that app and see what it says

They both were brand new and sealed from 2 different sellers, they are different colors as well. I will check open signal app and see what it says. What I don't understand how 2 of them can have exactly same symptoms.

Yes, mine shows 4g but at times while at work it will drop to E due to the signal being week inside the building. I am also connecting on Band 4 most of the time.

Those were from 2 different sellers. Hard to believe that they would have exact symptoms.
They are unlocked. I checked open signal and it says lte. Anyone can recommend any troubleshooting that could be done? I would like to keep the phone but I need it to work. I do not think both phones are just not working in exact same way. At this point I am not sure what else is left to trouble shoot.
In attached pictures what is the sim neighbor #1 that is the only thing different because it is not on my mate 9.
More neighbors , but there isn't any on Mate 9. Also everytime phone call is coming in it switches to 2g. Mate 9 doesn't switch for phone calls. Overall the network cell info app shows that mate 10 switches bands a lot .
Edit
Another thing I noticed is that tmo visual voicemail will never activate on Mate 10 but it is instant on Mate 9
Spent hours with tmobile and this is because no volte on those phones. If I turn volte off on mate 9 it acts the same way. So mate 10 is unusable where I live. It goes to voicemail 90% of time.
The workaround I got is forward all calls to to my google voice number. Works ok since it can use lte just fine.

To the same rom. Now, are they ORIGINALLY manufactured with that same rom? I purchased a 4/64 mocha from amazon ALP-L29 and was functioning flawlessly. Then returned it and purchased a 6/128 chinese version, rebranded to ALP-L29 and its functioning flawlessly (with T-MOBILE) so, the only thing I can think, based on your circumstances, is that there has to be something messed up with the rom/firmware. I would try either an update via FIRMWARE FINDER or a full rebranding to the same ALP-L29. Thats what I would do.

There is nothing wrong with it. It's the lack of volte. If I turn off volte on my mate 9 it acts the same way. I talked with t-force (tmo support) and because of the towers around me the phone doesn't switch quick enough to edge to ring. If I leave it on edge it works fine, but it can't switch to edge from lte quickly enough.
Hello from Japan.
I bought the s9+ online. It does support my carriers signal LTE. I`m with KDDI AU
what happens though is i cannot get signal. Though the sim is read and it knows the number attached. I cannot attach to the network.
There are 2 choices in manual search. i choose 1 it says I am not allowed on. the other just says registering for a long while then it fails.
I have found japanese forums blogs etc That AU are a bunch of turd munching ass bandits. I think they purposely try to stop anyone from BYOD by making it difficult.
In the case of VOLTE I have a s7 edge right now. It is on a VOLTE plan and has a sim that AU calls "AU ic lte card 06"
It seems that this sim only works in an VOLTE enabled device. (perhaps running firmware that add software to authenticate to network too) I.e. that sim will not attach in a non volte handset and some non au sold phones may not work either VOLTE support or not.
There is another sim coded 04 i think that works on lte/cdma hybrid. Since the galaxy s9+ does not work the cdma even if i changed the sim ( they charge about $30 and changed the plan from a volte plan to an lte plan another $30 charge) i could only use data anyway.
So I had thought this device would work since it was meant to be volte. but my device does not let me enable it. (some error like not supported by your current software version)
Anyone got any idea how to enable the volte is.
I don`t want to root it or load another rom etc.
So if there is not other way I may just cut my losses and switch providers.
I want to because I hate AU but at he same time i dont want to because they make it incredibly hard to change providers.
I've got the Snapdragon dual-sim Hong Kong model (SM-G9650 DS). I think this would apply to basically every model, though.
I'd like to find a way to enable VoLTE for carriers which support it, but for which the CSC on the phone doesn't support it, and for which there is no available CSC which supports it. In my case, I'd like VoLTE to work on Verizon in the US, and for Japanese carriers AU and Softbank. I'm sure there are lots of people who would like to get VoLTE in India working on Snapdragon models as well.
I enjoy having Samsung Pay, so I'd like to be able to do this without tripping Knox/rooting.
I've done as much studying on the subject as I could, and apparently, such a thing used to be possible by accessing IMS Settings through a shortcut app, but as of Samsung's Oreo update, it's not possible to do this without root anymore, it would seem.
Generally, on my phone, I try to enable VoLTE (there's an option in the quick toggles, but not an option in mobile network settings) and I get the message, "VoLTE is not supported by your current software version. Contact customer service for more details." This is on the Hong Kong version.
Oddly, after playing with several different CSCs and software versions, then finally coming back to the Hong Kong one and doing several factory resets, I had the option to enable VoLTE in mobile network settings, and it actually let me turn it on. I was surprised! Then, after taking out the sim, using another sim (to see if I could get VoLTE on it too, I couldn't), and putting the original one back in, it went back to not being possible. I may have triggered some kind of bug to allow me to do this, as this was with a Japanese Softbank SIM, for which VoLTE generally isn't supported on non-Japanese Samsung models. However, since then, I haven't been able to get the setting back.
I bought a Hong Kong sim just to test this, and every time I put in the Hong Kong sim, even though it's not activated, it immediately offers the ability to enable VoLTE, so it's probably restricted by MCC/MNC, allowing VoLTE to be enabled only on SIMs which are pre-approved by the CSC.
Anyway, I'd really like to ask the community if there may be anything I can try to get it working. I'm sure that if I root and trip Knox I could do it, but if there's some way to do it without having to trip Knox, and without having to factory reset every time I want to change SIMs, it would be great.
Let's figure this out!
That would be awesome!!
Following.
I have this phone too and currently have TMobile and would love to use volte and wifi calling.
Even i am searching the work around for this issue.
I am having TMobile note 8 and using it in india it does not allow me to enable volte on oreo.
I have to be on noughat to use volte service else its of no use.
Can anybody talk with shortcut master app dev if he got any solution to it?
I get VoLTE but don't have the option in the mobile network settings... For some reason it always takes a few hours for it to activate after I restart the phone.
Also I feel like maybe it didn't activate the first time until I enabled VoWiFi once.

Has anyone enable this yet?
I have galxy s9+ g9650 i wanted to use volte has anyone figured this yet. Will csc version change help in any way, also what csc version is best suitable in india and also how can i use samsung pay and other samsung apps??

Do I have to take it to the store for them to do it, or can I just call customer service?
The other response is incorrect. Huawei has a whitelist of carrier MCC/MNC for VoLTE support. US carriers are not on it for LYA-L29.
VoLTE working fine in the middle east for the LYA-L29 for those who are wondering.
I don't know about North America though.

Volte works fine on the P20 Pro. Since that phone was never sold or supported in the USA there is no reason US carriers would be on a whitelist.
Volte also works fine on the Xiaomi MI Mix 2 & 2S which aren't sold or supported here.
Same problem in Canada too...the carrier has to work with Huawei to turn the feature on. I upgraded from an S7Edge which WAS VoLTE enabled by the carrier, so the account has the feature, but it did not automatically carry over.
Looks like there will be a few months before we get this, seeing how long it took for P20 Pro.
Anyone on UK EE with VoLTE available?

Hola
Can you please elaborate. For some of our carriers in Canada VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling are only enabled with carrier branded phones. This is particularly true for Rogers and Fido. If you are dealing with Shaw, Telus and Bell I have seen different scenarios that certain non branded phones working ok for VoLTE and other phones not working at all.
I am with Fido and I bought the Mate 20 Pro from them and VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling work.

I'm with Videotron...hence the difference. They have been notoriously slow to enable the feature on new phones.
On the flip side, I was getting VoLTE on my old phone which was NOT bought from them (it was first registered on Koodo).
Rogers does not allow that -as you mentioned.

A follow-up on my own post:
- we all knew the Canadian version L0C is NOT dual-SIM - I finally got a chance to test this. Bummer.
- I put in my phone a Rogers SIM and VoLTE and VoWiFi WERE INSTANTLY ENABLED. So the software supports it, has to be enabled by the provider via the SIM cfg. Somewhat positive news - as we all thought, Rogers would only allow VoLTE on the phones they sell, the test proved this is not the case.

I can definitely tell that the call quality is a LOT better in my case with VoLTE on, as it uses HD codecs (G.722).
You can try for yourself by turning VoLTE ON and then play with WCDMA vs LTE settings...one will disable it right away. In my case even the call button in the dialer shows HD.
And yes, the damn icon is hideous and won't go away even with System Tuner.

MintMobile does provide Volte but they have no idea which phone models it works on so they don't advertise Volte. I had Volte functionality on MintMobile with One Plus 5, Essential PH-1, Xiaomi Mix 2 & Mix 2S, and Huawei P20 Pro.
But it does not work with this phone.
On Telus, the first time I set the phone up it made me jump through a hoop where I went to a Telus site and enabled the VOxxx stuff. Strangely, it seemed to be kinda random whether it was 'on' or not, and before the last 2 updates I don't think you could even trust the icon to be telling you the truth. I'm not sure why this feature is a big deal, codecs or not the voice quality seems fine on this phone regardless. Some people claim that enabling any of the VO stuff gobbles battery, I haven't really noticed.
Much like the AOD, it is sad that we have almost no control over the icons at the top - especially when space is at such a premium there.
I just received my Xperia 1 IV USA version today from FocusCamera.com today, I was a little skeptical if it was even the USA version, since it wasn`t shipping from Sony until next week, I originally had pre-ordered on Sony website, then with a little looking around I had found the USA version on ebay in-stock, then I saw the seller name and went to there website yesterday and verified with there live chat that in fact it was in stock and would ship, so I ordered and use next day air shipping, everything works flawless and actually has the 5G bands like my Pixel 6 Pro, so I can get proper 5g speeds, on Band N71, That was missing from the Global version I was using 2 weeks ago, now I need the Firmware from Sony so I can root. I`m a happy camper
Congratulations

yeah I had t-mobile then I switched to GoogleFi last month, and wifi calling works perfect, inside my work place service from all carriers suck, since it big steel building, but my Xperia 1 IV will say emergency calls only, but I can receive calls and make calls and receive text, ad everything just like had full bars of carrier service.
I guess you were not able to root it?
To know exactly how capable the device is then its necessary take modem logs and let smart people parse it.

Unfortunately not, so this will be going back for refund, I can`t justify spending 1600.00 on phone and not able to root and do with it what I want with it, but there`s always the global version I could go back too, I`m going return it and wait and see if Sony does eventually allow it to unlock the bootloader, until then I`ll just use my Pixel 6 pro for now.

Should be both on all versions, USA model difference is mmWave support.

You can know that without buying phone. Download the firmware with xperifirm, extract modem.img and use ELFextract to extract your hw variants .mbn file. This will reveal the carrier/band policy files (in policyman folder) which live in the modem. There you can see which bands are enabled for specific operators and if they are enabled for SA and NSA.
