Question for you guys. I have a chance to buy this phone (SGS2 ATT) for $370. Like new and comes with everything, the seller has had it for a month and said he just didn't like it. I've done research between both the Amaze and this phone and I like both. I'm currently on Simple mobile and will need to unlock it but I know I will only get EDGE. Is it worth getting this phone and trying it out, and if I don't like it just sell it? What do you guys think?
You can definitely try it out and if you don't like it, you can probably sell it for that price or higher is my guess.. You can unlock it by rooting the phone or buying the unlock code from eBay or something...
Yeah, this is a great phone and you should (or at least I would) give it a try. There's already a thread about unlocking the phone, its just an app you download then run something once.
you dont have to buy any code to unlock it..if you've been an AT&T customer for more than 90 days and are in good standing all you have to do is call customer service and tell them you're traveling over seas and you need the unlock code..they'll give it to you for free...you just need a sim card from another provider to be able to punch in the code..once the codes punched in..its good forever..put ur AT&T sim back in
i did this
^I thought that your phone have to be registered to AT&T for more than 90 days.. which this phone only been out for about 73 days.
Either way guys, I don't have AT&T. I'm on Simple Mobile (T-mobiles Brother network )
So I'm thinking about reverting my phone to stock by flashing a fruitcake and hopefully the "unlocked" text will go away when I do. I have just one question, let's say the "unlocked" text goes away and I'm back to stock, will ATT be able to figure out that the phone was unlocked in the first place and not replace it with a different phone? I'm trying to replace this phone with a galaxy s2 and I called ATT today and they said that they will let me trade the phone with a refurbished gs2 for free. So I what I'm trying to do is get the phone back to stock and remove the unlock text and send it to ATT and hope they don't suspect anything. Will this work?

When the phone goes back to Moto and they put it on diagnostics, which will be the first thing they will do after inspecting for water damage, physical damage, etc., they will know instantly it was unlocked. They will inspect the phone because they can use it as a refurb for someone else. To my knowledge nobody has had issues with unlocked phones and warranty replacements, exchanges, or trades. I think you will be safe enough, but even if AT&T doesn't know right away that it is unlocked, Moto definitely will.
I'm going to take my Galaxy S2 to the O2 store to be recycled and I was wondering if I should flash the stock rom, factory reset and maybe un root my device? Or does it not matter?
What do you mean recycled....whats wrong with it?.
If its ok,you could send it to Mistahbungles recycling centre in Oz.
Sorry, I should have mentioned that I'm in the UK. O2 provide a service when you can send any phones you don't want anymore to be recycled for money.
I thought you were just giving it to them.......was going to say you could donate it to someone on here.
How much are you getting for it as theres eBay or you could sell it/swap it on xda.
They'll give me £145 which is pretty good I'd say.
Thats not bad,you could get up to £180 privately.
I dont know what o2's conditions are but I would stick on LP7(unbranded 4.0.3) or whatever your carriers 4.0.3 rom is.
I woudnt stick on a 4.0.4 in case anything went wrong since Id be wiping/deleting everything.
Anyone know a way to "erase" the At&t logo from the back of the phone without damage. I hate advertising for companies without compesation.
Guess not. Oh well, I'll have to find a way myself.

So a friend of mine found a S5 laying in the grass, the phone was in spanish and we were unable to find the owner. So he offered to sell it to me for a reallly cheap price.
Now i have questions abou this, If I reset the phone to factory I can just put the sim card in and it should be good togo, however I am assuming since they lost the phone and most likely its on a payment plan that tmobile will block the imei.
Now my questions are, Can i take an IMEI from a Galaxy S2 (no longer in use) and use the software to put that imei on this so tmobile wont block the phone? That would be ideal
If that wont work, would i be able to use the IMEI from my current galaxy S5 (that I currently use). Since it is the same phone? (well not exactly the same, mine is black the one that we found was white).
Would that screw up my current Galaxy S5 if i put the same imei on the new phone? And both being used under the same family plan?
If I use the phone as it is with the same IMEI that it has, and they wind up blocking it, would i still be able to change the IMEI after it is blocked? (I rather just change it right away to avoid it being blocked in the first place.)
So what do u guys think? Could I use the IMEI from a S2, if not could i use the IMEI from an S5 that i currently use? (IDK if they could tell if 2 IMEI is on the same network at the same time and it will block both which would really suck because I am still paying my S5 off.
Thanks

I was further researching and i am hearing that changing the imei is illegal, and if this is the case i do not want to do it. i am not trying to break the law for a phone lmao. it is not worth it.
i looked up the number and it is infact blocked, so i guess he has nothing but a useless paperweight. I wish we were able to find the damn owner, at the very least could score some karma points.
