Samsung apps on non-Samsung devices ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
until today I used a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini on which are preinstalled some apps that I like: now I have a new smartphone and a tablet (both non-Samsung) on which I would like to install the same Apps of the S4 but for many of them, APPStore does not allows me to install them, not even using Apptoide, or if they are installed then they do not work.
I looked for the equivalent on AppStore but I do not find anything that satisfies me completely (perhaps because of habit).
Is there any way to use Samsung's Apps on non-Samsung systems (without having to root), perhaps by installing a library or some other special software?
Thank you
Ermanno
P.S. I did not find the right forum to put my question, please Mr, moderator move it to the right one.

I've never really got into this area but, I believe that one or more of the following threads/links should, at least, be helpful to give you a good start for what you are looking to do. Don't be afraid to ask for some member guidance within one of them too.
https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-port-oem-specific-apps-to-other-devices/
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476050

Side Note: What your looking to do is what's called App Porting. Not all apps from one device to another will work. If you look at the S4, I would "guesstimate" that 25% of those apps are Firmware dependent, 25% are dependent on other apps, 25% are dependent on one or more of a devices Architecture, Android Version, DPI, SDK, etc... and the last 25% are not as dependent and may/should work on any device. There's more to it but, this is just a brief summary.
I would recommend trying to gather more information from the above links and ask for some member guidance within either one of the above threads/links or another thread that's similar to the question at hand.
Good Luck!

[Q] Samsung Apps

I have done a lot of searching on this and everything i have found suggests this is not possible but those posts are dated I just want to be sure nothing has changed recently.
I like the stock feel of the i717 with the samsung mms app and the samsung calendar app, touchwiz, etc. There are no official samsung updates after 4.1.2, but is it possible to get the samsung apps/framework working on cm11/cm10.2/AOSP somehow? It doesn't appear that anyone is too interested in doing this, maybe because the level of difficulty, but I would just like to know if it's possible. Maybe port a rom from a newer samsung phone? If its possible but not been done yet, i'm willing to do the work if someone will just point me in the right direction. Thanks.
P.S. This is a Q&A help section and I have done proper research before asking my question. No insults about my lack of knowledge please. I'm not asking anyone to do work for me, I just want advice. Thanks.
i think the problem is that you're one of the few people who like the samsung apps. a lot of people root their phones or install custom ROMs to have the ability to remove those apps.
good luck, though.

I'm always a minority lol. And I don't like all of them, just a few. Mainly the messaging app, samsung keyboard, and the gallery. And touchwiz with landscape mod is nice too. I just like the feel of a touchwiz rom but with samsung's 18 month support policy, the i717 is left hung out to dry...I wonder how hard it would be to just back-port a i747 rom? Thanks for the reply

Android 5.0 on Google Nexus 5 - Newbie questions / support

Hello everyone,
At first, as a new member, let me congratulate you for this amazing forum and the community that is built around it. A lot of useful and interesting stuff can be found here, and I know that it takes a lot of hard work to boost and maintain a forum to this high-quality level, create a community and share knowledge, so thank you for that and keep up the good work.
To get to the point, I recently became the owner of a Google Nexus 5 and 3 days ago I upgraded the preinstalled Android 4.4 to Android 5.0. Before that, I used a Nokia N900 phone with Maemo 5 and ArchLinux (desktop Linux Distribution), and this Nexus became my introduction to the Android operating system for the first time.
So as a newbie to Android, I want to ask toy a few questions on how to make some things done.
While I had my Android rooted before, after the upgrade it probably needs rooting again, so I'd be grateful if someone points out a link to a tutorial that describes this process. I also need to install an anti-theft application, and from what I've seen, Cerberus just does what I want, but I need to install it in a way that even if someone restored the phone to its default settings or even format it, the application woud stay in place. From what I've read, it is possible, right? I don't know how, maybe it has something to do with the ROM, which brings me to my next question. Custom ROMs, what are they? How do they get installed and which one do you suggest for Nexus 5?
As for now, those are my questions. I know that I could use Google to find out more about those stuff, but I really want to learn how they work, not just how to accomplish them, and all my searches in Google result in different ways to achieve the same thing, a fact that confuses me instead of teaching me stuff. That's why I ask here.
So, if anyone could point out some links or explain to me how to do the things I want, I'd be very grateful.
Also, besides all those things, any suggestions you might have of any nature, I'd be glad to hear them and they'll be much appreciated!
Than you very much in advance. I appologize to the forum and its moderators if I posted this in a wrong category or broke any rule. I assure you that if I did, it was not intetional.
Best regards,
Elias
Should I post this over to the Google Nexus 5 forums?

Ok, after a lot of reading, I finally understood the whole concept of ROMs and Recovery.
For anyone having trouble with his first steps on those issues as well, the following links would be very useful:

Upgrade a gt-i9082l, help

This is my fist post, I am sorry if I am asking something I should not. I am not a technological guy, so I need some help and patience.
My wife has an old gt-i9082, it is at android 4.2.2. I think it is 3 years old.
I would like to upgrade it to a better version because the cellphone system are already very slow and some app are not working anymore.
A friend told me it is possible, since the cellphone are not at warranty anymore, but I do not know how to do it. I just find this forum with google.
So, I am asking for a step by step guide to do it, if it is possible. If it already exist, please point me to the relevant thread.
Again, sorry for my lack of understand.
Thank you very much for your time.

They don't have any newer official Samsung updates, but the developers here have been able to keep your device updated with custom versions of android that are based off of the Android Open Source Project and/or CyanogenMod sources. This means that if you update, you will get a vastly different user experience. You will have access to the Play Store and all the apps and what not, but the UI is completely different from the Settings, to the Dialer, Contacts app, email app, etc etc. Many people prefer this, but if you aren't tech savvy and new things confuse and/or frustrate you, then it can be an adventure. There might be small issues or work arounds that you might need to do depending on which custom option you choose and how you prefer or need to use your phone as well. I don't recommend jumping into the upgrade without reading other forum members advice or comments to see if there are issues that might affect the use of your phone. You can find more information in the forum for your phone here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-grand-duos -If you use the dual sim function, pay special attention to the changes in that set up with the newer versions.
I am going to ask for direction over there.
Thank you so much.

Plans to officaly support non Samsung Devices?

Does anyone here maybe know if there are plans for the "old" Gear Fit to support non Samsung devices? Since I upgraded my phone (HTC One M7) to Lollipop I can't use the smatchwatch anymore. I know there are solutions to connect it to non Samsung devices but most of all I use App Connect applications. They are almost not working and every version needs to be patched for my devices - that's not a proper solution for me.
So I'm slowly thinking of selling / throwing away my handy watch :crying:
I recently sent a mail to assistance....It was unexpected but they answered to me
Unfortunately they go on with their politics and FIT will remain where it is. It must be connected to a samsung device to be fully functional.
Read the forum, every single thread, and you will find a lot of solutions, also patched apps for APP manager, I did it and now I like my FIT.

Thank you for your response! Too bad Samsung is not going to support it. Patching all the apks I need every time an update occures is just too time-consuming for me - but thank you for your answer!

Need some advice on a replacement phone

Ok guys been a while since I've been on here, so I'm sure this is answered elsewhere but need some good advice.
I have an S5 on Verizon my wife and I have been using as our primary source of internet using tethering for the past several years. Obviously the phone is rooted and still running KitKat 4.4.4 on the NI2 kernel. When phone updates and loses root I just roll it back.
So long story short and to the point, we are needing a new phone. This one's performance is degrading and a new battery is still not holding a complete charge for very long.
Looking at the newer Galaxies but needing to continue to be able to root and use the hotspot feature as we use nearly 100GB per month in data. Any suggestions on hardware, etc. is appreciated.
My go-to sources are:
www.kimovil.com / www.devicespecifications.com / china-prices.com (They got Band support in the US covered as well, but ALWAYS check by yourself too) -> https://willmyphonework.net/
I can easily list a bunch of devices, but it'll be your task to figure out if they are supported band wise in the US. Battery/price/quality-ratio-wise:
Le Pro 3 Elite
Coolpad Cool1 Dual
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X
