Hi, I was wondering if anyone can help me. Ive lost or somehow turned off the alert "beep". That you hear when you do certain things.
These include when you send a text, the box that pops up letting you know its been sent(I know some people are happy without this alert) it would make a beep sound.
It also happens(Not sure why) when you use the search bar in opera and click enter or press the search icon on the bar.
Its just a short beep that I love, not sure why I cant hear it on anything anymore, not sure what else it used to trigger the sound, but I really miss it and hope someone at least knows what Im talking about and can possibly help me bring it back.
Thanks guys, hope I can get this resolved soon.
EDIT: It also makes this beep sound when you turn the device on. I just heard it on my phone, but it only seems to do it when I turn it on now.
Ok, maybe Im crazy and it never made this sound. Sorry guys if thats it. Im kinda thinking it never did make this sound. hehe. But if it does let me know. In fact it does still make the beep in opera, so I was wrong about that.
The beep you hear at boot is related to the following >Start>Settings>Sounds & Notifications) the check box is probably ticked for "events"-warnings,system events. As far as notifications otherwise (email voice etc.) try the notifications tab of the prior and drill down through each setting for the events listed in the drop down box. You can most likely set Voice Command to notify some events if preferred. Go to >Start>Settings>Voice Command. From that screen chose the "Notifications" radio button for the items listed in each category listed to the left and choose "Announce notifications using bluetooth......." or "Announce notifications through........" per your preferences. Hope this helps you out.
I have an odd issue - whenever I turn up the Ringer volume a song starts playing (that stock Marisa Cristina song). This is even though I am not being called! Turning up or down the ringer volume does nothing to the loudness, but if I put the phone on silent or vibrate the music stops playing.
I have tried 3 or 4 ROMs before this one and had no problems with any of them so far....
I was hoping someone might know how to fix this bug?
So why are you paying this here?
Does this have to do with development.
Yes, it has plenty to do with development - its clearly a very serious problem because it means I can't put the phone on anything but vibrate or silent.
General is for conversations like "oh I think I want Android instead of Windows Mobile"
Will there be any comments that are actually useful rather than the pointless argumentativeness of the previous comment?
EDIT: I just realised, I did not make it clear in my first post that I am looking for a solution to my problem. I thought that would be self-explanatory but if it wasn't, I apologise.
One of the points I picked up from the official unveiling of the phone was that if the phone was off, and you called to it using one of the 5 nicknames, the phone would wake up and be ready for voice commands. I haven't seen this demoed in any of the videos on YouTube.
Can anyone with the phone please confirm if this is actually possible?
It is.
There's also an option to only have it active while the phone is plugged in (So it doesn't use up all your battery on listening for you)

Fantastic, thanks for clarifying.
I envisage myself using this whilst in car for example. So I can set-up a tasker profile to say that if the phone if moving at 10mph+ then activate the sleep voice mode, so I can talk to the phone whilst driving to do the dirty work, lol
p.s. do you have the phone? If so could you make a quick video showing this off?

I don't have it unfortunately
I just got the information from one of the S-Voice threads/news articles where they discussed it.

That sounds a brilliant way to use it, my understanding is that it will use a lot of battery if its on all the time, waiting and listening. Only time I would use it with no hands is, as you say in car.
I use AutomateIT Pro, but having bother with the app at the moment on my XE with it not activating screen lock
I want to use it when I wake up in the morning!
Good morning, Galaxy... What's the weather going to be like today? Any meetings? What's new? What should I make for breakfast? Etc...

I've seen it in YouTube videos but the person pressed the power button first to wake the screen. But I don't think you need to do that. On top of that, you can customize the way you wake up the S3. So instead of saying " hi Galaxy" you can say " who's your daddy?"
From what i have read that is not possible, but rather u have to press power button first before saying " hi galaxy". Will try to find article about it.

Yeah i found my source again and all it say is that the application says it may use up battery, which i of course assumed to be since it would have to be listening in sleep mode.
When it's not in sleep mode there's not much of a power draw to speak of that isn't already being drawn
So yeah, i'm not so sure anymore.
I have the Phone, its only listening on the lock screen (when you dont have any security) and on the s voice app. Pretty disappointing in that aspect

Are you sure there isn't any option to enable it to listen from lock screen off?

I have an S3 too and yes, there is no such option.
S Voice listens to your command only on the Lock Screen or when you have started the S Voice app yourself.
You can't even say Hi Galaxy in the browser and expect it to open.
Sucks but I don't use it anyways :|
Hi all,
Maybe I am missing something here, but doesn't the wake up command seem a little pointless, especially if you have a PIN code lock on?
What is the point of saying 'hey galaxy' to wake the phone up if you then have to press it anyway?
I was under the impressions when the phone was idle it was always able to be woken by saying 'hey galaxy' but this does not seem to be the case.
Secondly, I like how you can answer and reject calls with voice prompts also, which I thought would be great in the car, but you can't voice command options such as loud speak so becomes a bit pointless again.
Other than these gimmicky things I love the phone and moved from an iPhone 4.
Thoughts?
Can anyone add to this?

If your using the phone in car just put it in "drive" or "dock" mode so it never shuts off then you can use the voice control all the time
and if you ring someone via S-voice it automatically opens the call on speaker.
I have noticed some sound issues pretty much from day one with my pixel 6.
Initially it started off with the ringtone/notifications playing low, so I assumed this may be some kind of on-body setting where they don't play full blast if your holding the phone.
Now I've noticed when exiting from bedtime/DND modes the phone has no sound, even with all the volume sliders set to max (my usual setting).
I have also had the same thing happen when the phone has been asleep for an hour or two.
Sometimes I can pick the phone up & find I have missed calls or notifications because the phone made no sound/vibration when it was on the desk right next to me.
I have tried adjusting DND setting to no effect. There is also no audio accessories paired to the phone.
So each morning I have to check DND is disabled, then check volume sliders, then reboot the phone before the sound comes back.
I haven't, but I have a family member that has experienced what you've described.

Glad it's not just me then. I might try flashing the update to see if it improves any.
