I have the same problem
You both need to install a new Treble compatible TWRP. It is linked in the first post of the Rom's thread

Guys Got my redmi note 3 yesterday. I have requested to unlock my bootloader. I think I will get permission after 10 days . So after getting permission I like to install twrp recovery. But I couldn't find any guide. So please any one can share link to guide where I can install twrp. It's running on miui 8 global beta 7.3.23

If you move between miui and custom rom (Los, asop, caf) zcx is better
If you plan to stay in custom official is better

Then thestrix latest one if you want to format system,data,cache to f2fs.

If you switch ROMs which aren't miui based then official is the best. Of you want miui also them go for zcx.

Really ? We have DU for our device and i never knew it ! Why it has no xda thread ? I know the fact the official build will only be published on dev-base.com but it's unofficial also who is the maintainer ? It's named 'saket' who is this guy on xda ?

DU team don't wanna see their builds on xda, that's why our dev @s.sawrav made du thread on Devs-base. Yep, he's sanket sawrav aka @s.sawrav on xda.

It will erase all system data in clean flash. (Except internal)
So its necessary to flash gapps while flashing the ROM
Afterwards, you can install magisk/viperA

According to me, you can download the Miui9 developer's ROM for your device and install it using the updater app without rooting or using twrp recovery, it works finely

Yeah sure, download this ROM and install using the updater app but don't forget to take the data backup coz this will erase your entire data excluding SD card and reset the device

Download the global one :https://en.miui.com/getrom-321.html?m=yes&mobile=2 I recommend flashing magisk 19.3 after you boot onto the system to pass safetynet

I wanted to downgrade to MIUI 9 with Android 7.1
Before asking you I did some research on the net but I saw a lot of confusion, so I trust in some of you who can help me on this.
Is this downgrade feasible?
Maybe with an official global rom or even with root or custom rom?

U can use every rom with mi flash tool from here https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/vince/ or orangefox recovery and Xiaomi eu. With a customer recovery u have to format not wipe the data partition.
