HELP need confirmation - Stereo sound inverted when recording video - Huawei Mate 10 Questions & Answers

Hi, i have spotted some issue on my side about camera APP for mate 10 pro.
Do you have the issue about stereo sound inverted in landscape mode with rear camera when spoke to left the sound is played at right and when spoke at right, the sound is played on left (on phone and on PC) tested with google camera APK and it works, so i think it's a bug in Huawei APP camera and i don't really know how to report this in higher bug level huawei team.
For now helpdesk ask me to return the phone and i have obtain one other guy with this same issue. So could be nice if you can confirm this too. Thanks.

*audio recording clicks/pops*

The speed of the internal storage? Like what equivalent to classes for sd it would be?

nov 12: edited the title since this turned more into a discussion about the audio pops and clicks from the VIDEO CAMERA and VOICE RECORDING apps....may be a codec problem!? EVERYONE has this; let's bring it to HTC's attention! i currently have an open ticket iwth the escalations department to which he called me, and i sent him the links to my youtube showing all of the clicking noises in every video marked HTC Rezound:
www.youtube.com/ochsbeatdown
let's bring this to their attention!!
Use Antutu or another bench, they tell you R/W speeds. About the only thing they are good for, lol.
sweet thanks...yeah i wondered what the speed is for that..figured maybe making videos on a faster speed may get rid of those pops and clicks..however i just did, and it didn't do **** lol
I haven't recorded any videos on my Rezound yet, still, lol.
I did a few more guitar videos today.. Same clicks and pops. Meh

Is it while focusing or zooming? Or is it just the sound is too loud entering the device?
Might be when sound is too loud. I don't notice any focusing going on but that's a damn good idea. I think we can turn auto focus off in video too. It's like a digital blip noise so i don't know what exactly it is
It also did it with an acoustic, which isn't loud at all.... So i think it does it irregardless of sound

I recorded a quick video of my puppies play fighting in my livingroom. The only "noise" I hear is my phone vibrating and the notification of Kenny Powers "Dollar Dollar Bills Ya'll" when I get a text mid video! I am pleasantly surprised by this though! My X2 would stop recording if I got a message of any kind. I like that this records right through it, so you can just put it on silent and record away!
hmm...yeah, here's the noise i hear:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-UQWEXvGQs
very noticeable here; did this yest
I hear it... weird man. My phone doesn't ever do that, that I know of. I got a friend who can play about as well as you. I will see if he will let me record a clip to compare. Hopefully it is only hardware on your end.
hopefully its NOT hardware! hahaha i don't, wanna replace this thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4aTQctjEm8&feature=youtu.be
there's the dog playing in the yard..it seems to be a noise that only occurs when clipping happens....but it takes little to NOTHING to clip the audio..i bet it's a noise cancellation issue
Well, if it is hardware then it is good because it isn't wide spread.

Do me a favor, play some loud music on a stereo and see if it does the same thing, that way I can try to re-create your problem on my end with the same method.
I just did a test of this, and mine makes audible clicking sounds whenever the camera is refocusing. You can test it on your device by getting a contrasting shot (use mine as an example) and then tapping the screen between the two points to make it refocus on the point you select.
http://youtu.be/gjmqDC9MLYc
sometimes when it refocuses, it doesn't make a noise at all (ideal). So maybe it's some software params making the lense try and adjust further than it can, or it might just be a camera problem..
eitherway, i don't take videos very often, so won't worry me too much.
That sign in the back gave me my laugh for the day!
that sign rocks hahahaha
but those aren't the same clicks i'm getting. i shall test with loud music playing and by pressing to auto focus...
CAN WE turn off auto focus on video? i know we can on pics, but howbout vidoe?

notice at 1:01 when i goto the subwoofer you can hear the squink noise destinctly..i wonder if low freqs are what make it squink?

Those clicks when the video starts while it's trying to focus on your laptop screen are the same as mine too.
I can't help but think the pop I hear at 1:01 is the exact same sound too...
Best test for the audio would be to lay the camera face down or something and hit record, and see what it gets.
Edit: on second thought, I think i'm hearing both types of clicks.
I wonder if the regular voice recorder has this problem too?
Edit2: sure does... i have a steady pattern of clicks on my voice recordings when recording my piano. they're like every ~2.5 seconds... and very predictable. especially on some of the youtube links posted earlier..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1451ZVudgOM&feature=related
Maybe it's just a codec problem?
When i record as AAC_LC in the voice recorder I hear the digital blips.... not so much with AMR, but it's a less quality codec I think.
Edit 3: OP you should change the title of the thread so other forum members drill into it, i'm sure there's someone who knows what might be going on better than I do.
But from my vantage it sounds like a codec error. Hopefully resolved by an HTC update, or a future fix when we get perm root.
The video clicks during focusing I've researched a bit, and it may be related to how the software handles the camera functions, and could also be resolved with some updates... fingers crossed.
nice, good call. updated the title!
I have been unable to really root out the issue here with the camera lense making that noise as it tries to refocus... I'm assuming it's software controllable so some parameter in there somewhere would fix it. Guess we'll have to wait for root and a custom Rom!
anyway, I've tried some different camera apps, messing with the autofocus to see if it makes a difference, and they still all seem to make the auto-focus noise. I haven't found any market apps that do video recording however. Does anyone know of any?
I'll dig in the SDK a bit, but I bet the autofocus fuction is part of the ROM and not the software using the camera. In which case, different software won't make a difference. Just sounds like the lense is over-reacting while recording a video, causing the clicks in the video recording.
As for the blips, I'm definitely convinced it's a codec issue, since it also happens in the voice recorder which (I'm assuming) might be use the same codec as the built in video recorder app for the audio.
Case still open for now...
man, i'm having a hard time finding an app that does video, too. i downloaded the MIUI camera APK i found on here somewhere, but the video recording was like 1fps lol it was terrible, so i didn't even bother.

[SD] Weird mic issue which is making my RN3 useless

Hey everyone,
Ever since I've received this RN3, its mic has been a constant source of frustration. it appears to be off during phone/whatsapp/.. calls (other party can't hear me AT ALL). Now before you think that this is a HW issue, when I record a video with the builtin camera app, it does record sound but at a lower volume than I think it should be. This is what i've tried/noticed so far:
- The exact same thing happens on Global 7.3.2, Global dev 6.5.19 and Chinese 7.3.2.
- Swapped SIM and/or placed SIM in tray 2 (no effect)
- Flashed Santhosh's CM 13 ROM (other party still can't hear me)
- Used builtin sound recording app on MIUI ROMS: I can hear a lot of noise but not what has been recorded
- Used builtin sound recording app in CM 13 ROM: nothing
I've looked on the en.miui forum board and apparently I'm not the only one with this issue. Other ppl are facing the issue that the mic gets shut off after recording video (and a reboot solves it), but this is not the case for me.
Does anyone have any idea? Thx.
Have you fixed that problem?
I have the same issue but a little bit different. I don't own a pair of hans-free so when I answer a call I connect a pair of headphones and talk from the phone's mic. So unless I have the phone 1 cm next to my mouth the other person cannot hear me, which didn't happen with my old phone (the other person could hear me even if the phone was 2 meters away from me). And it is not an issue because when I answer a call in speaker mode it operates correctly.
So I've discovered that the problem lies within the secondary mic next to the jack port which is used for noise cancellation as people state in miui forums. The only solution I've came up with is covering the secondary mic with my finger every time I answer a call. With this solution the secondary mic is "disabled" and the primary mic operates as expected, people can hear me even if the phone is not right next to my mouth. Of course this is not a permanent solution but I haven't found a way to disable the secondary mic through software yet, or calibrate it to not falsely filter every sound as noise and canceling it.
hallo guys,
i have the same problem on my redmi note 3 (mtk) for months, its really annoying.
when im having a call, my mic suddenly switches and my call partner can only hear me very very silent.
also i had some situations, that my call partner can not hear me at all. herefore a reboot worked fine...
as mentioned above, the problem are the 2 different mics on the redmi note3.
one is at the bottom which should be used for calls (lets call this MIC1), the other one is on the top next to the head jack plug (MIC2)
sometimes the MIC1 switches and so the call partner only can hear you via the top MIC2 - thats why your voice is very very silent then.
on the other hand when you record a video, the voice is switched to the top MIC2 and might stay there also after the video as standard - thats why no one can hear you in calls then, or only hears you very very silent.
solution: close the hole for the upper MIC2 with a tape, then it won't switch during calls!
disadvantage:
- you can't put a call on speaker, because system switches to MIC2 which isnt working.
- you can't use google now for music detection, because system switches to MIC2 which isnt working.
- you might have sound issues when recording a video in landscape (i tested it, had no problems and could hear the sound when watching the recorded landscape video)
here is a link about the recording videos in landscape vs portrait:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDE4B8Z3q14
and here a video with the tape solution:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFjGp3PEZt0
are there any software solutions to disable the second mic??
How to solve Redmi note 3 mic Problem:
Step 1: Go to Google settings (Not phone setting)
Step 2: Tap on Search & Now
Step 3: Tap on voice . After that tap on “Ok Google” detection
Step 4: off the “Ok Google” detection .
Congratulation. Your Redmi note 3 mic Problem is solved. Its happening because of “Ok Google” service. Now your friends can easily listen to you without any disturbance.
This is a serious problem and just insane that is has not been fixed. I have the Redmi Note 3 Pro and Calls and talking is fine
Now recording anything at High Levels it sounds like a wave effect, both mics are on even if the top is covered same issue.
Its as if there is a threshold somewhere on the noise cancellation that after a certain decibel it tries to correct and auto compress and fails Large.
This must be software as it is leaving both mics on instead of having an option to turn one or the other or BOTH off and or on.
Using an acoustic guitar is pointless, I purchased this phone for the price/performance ratio and thought the audio would not be an issue while recording, it is now useless as it was used to get music ideas down for songs, record band in practice for ideas and live situations it is absolutely impossible and upsetting this simple feature has not been fixed. Back to rotary phones and 4 tracks I suppose.
So far 2 out of 3 Redmi note 3 SD i puchased for my self and friends have this problem of mic not working in calls. On speaker phone it is OK. Tried all the "fixes" I have found on various sites but none have worked. Have not tried one of the fixes as it requires installing TWRP and rootingand the owners are not happy for me to do this for them. Rebooting sometimes fixes one off them briefly but just fails again after 1 call . On the MIUI forum there are countless people with this problem on both chipsets with no fix
i have buy redmi note 3 on a month ago, now i have updated MIUI 8 and i face mic issue(other person can't hear me), done every thing but not able to resolve this issue, pls someone give permanent solution on this.
Interested to know if anyone has a solution for this. I have moved to CM14.1 to try and fix it but am still having this issue.
using the phone with closed MIC2 hole like described above
This solution works for me for Nougat:
Use a root explorer like ES Explorer to edit /system/build.prop
Find the line :
ro.qc.sdk.audio.fluencetype=fluence
Change to:
ro.qc.sdk.audio.fluencetype=none
Solution
NO ROOT REQUIRED. Simple Solution.
With me it worked using the soundabout app, just set up "phone call audio" by selecting wired headset (with mic) option.
Once done you can uninstall the app if you want. Cheers!
Hello all, so, the solution for the recording sound problem is the use of soundabout? in my redmi 3s I applied the fix.zip and it is solved, but in the RN3? just using this app?
Thanks!

[Help] Camcorder Stereo sides wrong. Swap recorded channel order permanently?

Hi, beloved community.
I am using a fresh Redmi Note 4 SD (also known as Redmi Note 4X), BL unlocked, MIUI 8.2.
Also own a Redmi 4X SD, which suffers from the same disease.
I am confused, that nobody has noticed it before. When recording videos, holding the phone with your right hand, buttons up, so that they can be pressed down:
In this normal setting, the Stereo-channels are switched in the recording! Meaning:
--> The main mic is recording the LEFT channel, the noise-cancelling, secondary mic is recording the RIGHT channel.
It is bugging, when voices of people in the screens right side appear from the left channel an VV.
Is there a driver or an app, an exposed module or a patch that cures this? I know, It seems to be totally unimportant, what mic is recording which channel, except when it comes to the camcorder application...
- it is the same with all camcorders i tried, stock included, of course.
- I already enhanced the sound-quality by the patches and root-editing provided here in the forums.
- as a compromise, I could live with an app, that just save the shot movie with swapped stereo channels without reencoding much.
Please help me enhance the camera usability even further. Thanks a lot!

LineAgeOS 14.1 - LG G5 H850 voice record problem

Hey guys,
yesterday I installed the 14.1-20180719-NIGHTLY-h850 version of LineAgeOS on my phone.
Everything worked fine, but then I found a bug.
WhatsApp voice mails and any other voice record doesn't have any sound except an cracky sound at the beginning, after that, theres no sound.
The strange thing is, when I record a video with any camera App, theres normal mic sound, maybe a little bit crackling.
Do you know how to fix this?
PS: If I connect a headset, I get very strange Sound in WhatsApp voice mails/records etc and no Sound in Discord.
Also WhatsApp and Snapchat (no more tested) don't record the sound with Headset mic rather the normal phone-mic.
Ok guys, after flashing it new... a few times... I got normal mic performance when no Headphones or Headsets are connected.
If so, the mic level is very, very, low.
Any ideas?
My mic doesnt work regardless if I was on stock, downgraded version, custom ROM, etc. I dont know what to do. I do have the same symptom as yours tho where when I record, there is a few pops at the beginning then just silence
I got the replacement module for the g5 and not even that fixed it. I am stumped of how to fix this issue.
EDIT: I just now found out that after taking out the motherboard, there was a red sticker covering some golden connectors, after taking that off fixed it. No idea why there was a red sticker there but please check and if it is there then take it off. itll be on the other side of the motherboard..

LG hardware problem audio video recording slo-mo etc....

Hello' after i accidentally dropped my LG G5 in sea water i managed to fix it. However, i noticed some functionalities didnt work.
-audio: no audio at all from phonejack or speaker. Which are independent and in opposite locations inside the phone.
-No vibration.
-No audio playback.
-Video playback works but without audio.
-camera works but only picture mode. No video mode.
-No slo-mo video playback.
Other parts and functionalities work well. Wireless & signal work fine. Memory is intact apps work fine. Battery was drained out but after one charge it works fine.
Now if anyone has any idea if this could be related to audio chip or any other hardware issue, or if anyone has encountered any problem of this kind feel free to share ur experience on how you fixed it. If u threw ur phone please dont bother sharing that experience.
Meanwhile I'll be working on this issue. I'll update this if i come across any news.
Regards.
