Letting your battery drain to 0% is bad and letting it charge to 100% is bad as well.
You both are ruining your batteries

I don't know which ROM you are using. It's a good start to search in your ROM's thread to see whether other people have the same problem and maybe found a solution.
If that doesn't help, flash a custom kernel like KudKernel (Oreo only) or Franco kernel (Oreo and Nougat). You will find them here in the development section

No, Franco is for Custom ROMs like Lineage only.
Very common issue on the redmi note 4 mine went the same way, and would do the power supply disconnecting after it started to do this, get a new charge circuit very easy to change and cheap at under £3
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/273041868428
My Note 4 running stock MiUi 9.5.x (up to date) and I am too facing the same slow charging issue. Usually I charge between 20-80% and once a 10/12 days, I do a full 100% charge !!
Backup is good, satisfactory SoT but charging is hellishly slow !!
These are my charging stats {measured using ampere app}
Is it normal for redmi note 4.
Please measure yours and post the stats here .
Thanks.

Is CM responsible for horrible battery drainage problem like 60-80% to 0?
For investigating this I flashed cleanly CM lp based rom many times but no luck.
I turned back to CM 11 but again no luck.
Finally I flashed Carbon kitkat an AOSP rom and now the battery drainage is not like that as in CM i.e 100 -70 as normal and after that two or thee bump of 10-15% to from 70-0.
I know it may be battery issue and my moto E is 15 months old but I dont't think that in any type of branded mobile however low budget phone it is,the battery issue comes as early as in moto E.
Is it be the flashing problem as we testers flash different types of roms daily .
Then why this issue is not happening in carbon rom?
Please testers throw a light on that.
Thank you.:good:
Same query here.
Same problem here too dude..! Even I replaced with new battery...still the issue remains...
Yep...CM is responsible for the battery. If there's new features the device eats more battery....So, cm ****s battery but enhances performance and daily use.
Finally I flashed stock 5.1 optiised deodexed, lets see what's the result and I'll tell.
True, you are not the only one facing this problem.
I tried Official Cm 12.1 December build and the battery drain on standby was huge.
Now that we have official CM 13, it uses the same tree and hence the problem persists.
I am sure it is a bug but the bad part is it is not noticeable or else it would have been fixed by now.
Soltuion: Use Mokee ROM, which is official for our device and is based on AOSP instead of CM.
Note: Right now it is Lollipop and soon they will start Marshmallow nighties. I recommend using stable lollipop version.
I am using it for weeks and it has definitely the best battery life. SOT has jumped to 7 hours and the standby is also better.

Sure, try stock. I am 99% sure it is CM's problem as many people are facing the same problem.
After stock, try Mokee. It's really stable and has all the necessary features. And one more thing, the release version is odexed which means faster boot and more stability. It also has OTA updates.
Happy to help

I have a query.
i got satisfactory battery performance when not using the phone for anything other than calling. But the battery seems to drain quick in this ROM .
I'm using the cm13 Unofficial build for condor.
The battery usage stats show computed usage and actual usage. The actual usage is double the computed usage. why is that happening?
Sry, me so NOOB.

Even got replaced old battery with new one at the service centre..now with official stock 4.4.4 battery drain is huge..I get around 5-8 hours max. Screen is consuming around 60% of the battery even at normal usage..please please help me..
I am currently using CM 12.1 Official Nightly (latest) and I experienced a very high drain in the battery level even though the Idle time was pretty high. Can anyone help me ?

This is surely due to excessive flashing attempts. I was literally flashing five to six ROMs a day? and my battery starts to give unusual drops from 15 to 0, 25 to 0 then it started to increase, from 40 to 0 (even on stock). So I replaced the battery with a new original one and it's working great now.
I also own another condor which is also running cm 12.1 and I mostly use to clean flash a new build every one or two month, and that device is still giving a battery life like as a new one.
PS. Bought both devices on 14 may 2014.
Anyone having WiFi disconnecting during sleep issue lately on cm12.1 and 13 ?
It usullay disconnects when device is at sleep for around 30 minutes or so and reconnects on waking up. Though the setting is enabled for WiFi connection during sleep.
Hit thanks if I helped you☺

Yes, I also think excessive flashing is responsible for the battery fault and it should be not due to CM.

Me 2 having the same problem!
First it all started by a bump of 10%-0%
Than it increased ..bump of 15%-0%
Than 20%-0%
I tried many ROMs still had the same problem! ..I read somewhere at XDA that lithium ion doesn't need full charge and overnight charging is harmful.. And can cause bumps ..
So I charged my battery to 75% and than I didn't got any bump ..as I tested till 3%..
So what I suggest is..those who are facing large battery bumps, do not charge overnight and charge till 80% and check ..
Yesterday I replaced my battery with the new one.
And no issues facing so far.
I think excessive flashing harms the battery.

Hi guys,
I'm coming from the Oneplus One and that phone used to charge at a speed of 2ma.
Using some apps, I've come to see that the Oneplus X charges only at 1.2ma tops for me.
Is there any kernel which supports 2ma charging? Thanks!
I don't see the charging speed a problem, considering that it's got a lesser capacity battery. Charging times are fast enough that you wouldn't notice any difference. Just keep it down and let it charge.
As for kernels, you could check the developments section

I guess blu spark kernel has fast charging support... Look it up
Mine charge at 1500mAH
Max voltage which can go through is 1800mAh for our phone
0-60%--- Phone charges at 1500mAh(Rapid Charge)
60-90%--Phone charges at 1200mAh
90-100%- 300mAh (Trickle Charge)
This is the case in all phones .. take it nexus 5 ... xiaomi mi4.....One plus one

I understand why you would want to, but as i know bluspark doesnt "Support" cm for now but it works - try it, in case you always can go back on cm kernel, in using oos 2.2 with bluspark, gives me 4-5 screen time with Wi-Fi always on which is more than enough for me, waiting stable marshmallow ^.^

So my charging port got damaged and it used to take hours to charge the phone while not using it, then I got it repaired recently
But I notice that while charging it, the battery keeps decreasing, I am using the original charger. I did also try a few other chargers but it seems to be the same
My battery does increase when screen is off and I leave it aside for a level, at a slower rate.
I want to know how to fix this battery decreasing while charging?
Try to install kernel again.
Agni kernel give you the option for thermal libs and more. This may change your charge time.
If not work for you, see in the forum a post with diode problem.

The problem started probably when i rooted my phone on stock rom(miui 10), the very next day i cleaned every thing (including my firmware accidentally) to flash custom rom, then after flashing i found out that none of the hardware components are working and i posted a thread about it and as per the answers i flashed a latest chinese firmware for redmi note 4.And it worked except i started noticing an awfully bad battery backup(hadn't noticed before as all this happened in just 2 days. hi OP. base on what you are describing, it looks like your battery is dying... nothing to do with the OS. be careful 'cause chinese batterys (like 70%) turn out to be real sh*t (on my own experiance). consider to replace battery from a confiable retailer or change device.

Are you sure the battery is original?
Go to my POCO F1 Ultimate Collection & Guides thread, at Battery Tips and do Battery Calibration. Then check your Battery Health Capacity and post a screenshot with the results.
PS: If you are on stock ROM I recommend you to move on custom ROM. MIUI drain your Battery fast.
OK I will do that. Meanwhile I have noted that the battery drains very fast when the screen is on. (I'm using a low brightness setting) like 1% every 5 minutes. Any suggestions?
And "Power consumed by other apps" is always high

Oh. I am still using the original one. 27 months old, 73% capacity. Since enabling bypass charging only 56 battery cycles used up in the last 9 months. Otherwise I think I would have been forced to look into a third-party replacement by now considering the very heavy usage. Official battery is exorbitantly priced.
I have been using mine since Feb 14 2019 and that's over 34months. Just few 2days ago I noticed drastic battery drain although often it's on heavy use. Now I can't restart my phone and boot up except when I plug it to the charger because it boots up. I am on stock ROM? Right now I don't mind installing custom ROM it will fix the problem.

It appears the battery is shot and needs to be replaced. If rooted you check the battery capacity from the built-in kernel profile. Actually I revoked root access from Device Info HW app and it was still showing battery capacity as derived from the kernel profile so maybe it doesn't require root? Also recently MIUI had the option to show battery capacity and cycle count without root...

Mines at 2912mAh.
Accubattery is another option and in F1 I found it to be pretty accurate. But it requires several charging sessions for the estimate.
Here's the bit about MIUI https://www.xiaomist.com/2020/02/so-you-can-check-battery-status-of-your.html?m=1

Now I can't do shi.t without plugging in my charger. It just keeps boot looping on reboot. It won't boot up the screen until/unless the charger is plugged. I am thinking of factory reset but I am scared it may fail to load up the boot and cause the phone to be bricked.

Looks like w/o root it's not possible to read the data from the kernel profile after all. Xiaomi seems to have removed the necessary stuff later from MIUI. That article is out of date.
I would refrain from flashing MIUI at this stage. Have you unlocked the bootloader? Almost every report of irreversible bootloop seems to involve MIUI.

Since I have been using the phone, I haven't done/tweak a thing. So no, I haven't unlocked the bootloader. I would like to do anything right now if that's what I need to escape unexpected expenses. I would like to unlock, root and install custom ROM since MIUI is ****ed

If you have never unlocked the bootloader of any Xiaomi device before I guess you need to create an account and apply for unlocking permission. For Poco devices it's a 3 day wait period but in my case and several others besides it was near instant. I had last gone through this over 2 years ago so I am not sure if anything has changed or not. Do keep in mind that unlocking the bootloader will wipe out out the internal storage so make backups beforehand as required.
In the meantime install Accubattery. For quicker estimate a few 10-100% cycles will suffice. Discharging lower might cause random shutdowns etc. if it's the battery at fault.

Oh ok. Thanks. How do I apply for unlocking bootloader? It's been over 8 years I did one last. Kindly guide me. And yes, I have installed accubattery.
