No duplicates when editing photos - LG V30 Questions & Answers

This is more of an answer rather than a question
On my old Galaxy S7 and on my new LG V30 alike, whenever I edit a photo in the Gallery app, the original will be saved intact and the edited photo will be saved as a copy. This is good or bad depending what you want. Nine times out of ten I don't want to keep the original photo, so for me it is annoying.
On the V30, however, I noticed that this behavior only occurs if the location for saving photos is my SD card, in the camera app. If the location is internal storage, any edits overwrite the orignal photo by default (by you still have the option to save the edited photo as a copy).
Apologies, if every one is already aware of this, but maybe someone will find this useful

Photo management?

I recently got my EVO 4G LTE, and have been playing with it quite extensively, as well as searching around here to find answers to what I haven't been able to figure out.
There are a few things with the camera and how it handles images that have me wondering:
1) I have shot quite a few photos in 'burst' mode. Now, on my SD card, I have a '100BURST' and a '100MEDIA' folder, with a folder in the burst directory for every set I have ever taken, even if I have deleted all the images in the collection. Is it safe to delete these folders, and what is the point on them?
2) I want to import all my old photos and videos (from my OG EVO) onto the phone, but placing them in the 100MEDIA folder will override many of the new images I have taken as they are using the same name. Is there somewhere to set the naming convention used? I see that several of my old images are using 'IMG_20120519_010400.jpg' method (from when I had MIUI ICS installed). Is there a way to switch to this naming, as it is basically 'IMG_' then the year, month, date, '_', and time? This would help keep the images in chronological order.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice you can give me...
You can move your photos over with no problem. I just transferred my old SD Card from my Evo 3D to my EVOLTE. Obviously I got rid of all the files that no longer pertain to the EVOLTE.
Additionaly, if you erase the burst folder, it will automatically create another one as soon as you take burst photos.

Well as far as your first question, if there are no images in the folders they should be ok to delete. The camera app will probably just recreate them if it has too.
Second question. You are better off placing the images on your computer and using an application to rename your images to whatever you want. You could easily do this with adobe Lightroom. You can download the free trial which should be more than enough time (30 days) to what you need especially if you ha e lots of images to rename. I'm sure there are other alternatives like maybe Google's picasa. But I use Lightroom and it will do exactly what you want.

How do you change camera/video file folder destination?

I've searched and can't seem to fine the option to change the folder destination of pictures and videos taken from the camera/video app?
The option was available on my galaxy s2 phone so its certainly not because of pics.
Anyone knows how to change them? I would like to change the folder destinations to my external sdcard. Much safer to have them there in case of a crash.
Anyone?

One alternative solution is to install the Dropbox app and enable camera/gallery syncing. This will upload all your camera photos to Dropbox automatically. It has the added benefit of being an online backup of your photos in case you lose both your phone and SD card.

[Q] Dropbox renaming pictures

So i have been using the auto upload of images since the start of the year. I decided i would just double check that all my images got uploaded just in case..
I take a look at my drop box and at my phone and all the images are named differently
For example
Phone:IMG_20120207_154821.jpg
Dropbox:2012-02-07 21.48.20.jpg
That is the same picture but named way differently.....
Not sure how to clean this mess or get rid of dupes without deleting some singles etc.....
All 2,000 pictures and videos are named differently like that.
*EDIT*
after some better google searches i see others having an issue with this...

[FW 5.1.1] How to set Default location for EDITED Photos to SD Card?

Hi guys,
I am new to Android, coming from Symbian (maybe the last one to make the jump on Planet Earth?), and though I was able to figure out a lot of things, including how to set Camera Photos to be stored in the SD Card, I can't seem to find a way to set the EDITED Photos, edited under default's album Editor, to the SD card.
Little background: Today I was backing up some of the jpgs under the SD drive (saved under SD\DCIM) just to realize some photos were missing. After inspecting the Phone Internal Storage I realized a folder called /Edited and the missing photos were there. These happen to be the photos I edited using the Album App (native to Android or Sony Xperia? Not sure).
My question is, how do I set Album App to save edited photos ALSO under the SD drive? I edit most of my shots, so figuring this out would be great to keep all photos under the SD card.
Thanks in advance and not sure if important, but this is for a Xperia Z5C.

Hello,
you should be able to change the folder with Root. If you don't want to root your device, you must use another App to edit your pictures.

Oneplus Nord N10 Gallery Not Showing Photos and Images from Other Folders

I just got the Oneplus Nord N10 5G. I took a few test pics and viewed them. Then I put in an sd card and set the camera to use that. I moved the test pics to the new sd DCIM folder, but the gallery is not showing them. As a matter of fact it's not showing ANY images on the phone. I've see a few threads that suggested clearing the cache and data and I tried that several times, with the gallery and media storage, with restarts and leaving it fully off for a few minutes. After like the 4th time and leaving it off, it recognized the pics I had moved to the DCIM folder, but still doesn't see other photos and images from other folders, external or internal.
If anyone has any other suggestions I'm open to trying, but I'm wondering if I should just use a different gallery app instead of the stock one and if anyone has any suggestions?
If your device is rooted, just uninstall that piece of garbage.
I'm using Simple Gallery Pro (the non-pro version is obsolete), it has a bunch of features, such as:
It's open-source;
Recycle bin (optional);
Show (or temporarily show) hidden files;
Manage included and excluded folders (the thing you were looking for);
Password protect some features (or even the whole APP);
Automatically delete empty folders after deleting their content;
Edit files without changing last-modified value;
Built-in image and video editors;
Export/Import APP settings.
I payed for it but if you're a cheapskate you can get it for free on F-Droid.

It's not rooted but it does give me the option to disable it. I'll test it out with the F-Droid version and if I like it the official version is pretty cheap. Thanks for the suggestion!
