Travel to different region, update steps

Hello guys,
Mate 10 Pro C636 Asia here.
I have to travel to Africa for 6 months and I put my Malaysian SIM(Maxis) in the second SIM slot while the Nigerian SIM in first SIM slot.
Please, I want to know if this configuration will be able to detect firmware updates or do I need to put the Malaysian SIM into the first slot?
Thanks guys
Someone should please help here.
1. Do I use only Malaysian SIM?
2. Can I use Malaysian SIM and my current region's SIM? If yes, which should be in slot 1?
3. Can I get it with any other SIM?

for this you need to check on what frequencis their lte and 3g are working. IF they are the same, everything will work. Sim slot doenst matter i think
Doesn't matter if u use any sim slot.
You get updates even without sim card over wifi.
The moment you get updates depending on imei numbers.

Anyone tried to convert J8110 into dual sim J9110?

Hi, I just bought Xperia 1 but unfortunately J8110. Is there any chance to convert it into dual sim with J9110 rom? Sim card tray is different but it isn't a problem. I'm not sure if there is a different modem in there. Has anyone tried this before?

Xperia J8110 is a single sim and there is no hardware in the mainboard for the second sim. it can only support 1 sim and 1 microSD card. so, no need to flash a different rom and mess up with your phone. just flash the correct J8110 rom
