Hi.
Does anyone know how to turn off those bloody annoying app sounds, e.g. the "swoosh" noise when you send a text or like a fb post please? I've tried sounds/notifications etc. in settings but can't sort it!
Cheers.

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device.

For SMS, just open SMS app, tap 3 dots in top right -> settings and there you go. In terms of Facebook tap 3 horizontal lines in top right (in Facebook app), go down to settings and privacy and continue to settings. Go almost down to media and contacts and uncheck the box 'in-app sounds'.

Can someone help modify the LogsProvider.apk so it doesn't record any SMS?
Are you on the AT&T version? If so do this.

i believe what would happen would be, this would work, but when you load up or open the phone later, SMS would still be in there, then you go back thru the cycle of having to change with your solution..again and again...
think op wants this to Stick (correct me if wrong OP)

Yeah I figured as much and I found that was the case with the international version being like that. Havent had any problems with it on the AT&T branded version.

Correct. Hopefully a dev can help modify the logsprovider app.
Mine is only showing calls and is sticking on all calls

It appears the OP want to send/recieve sms messages without someone else finding out. Therefore he wants his phone to stop logging them. Changing the log view will not help him as you can still go in there and find the logs for sms.
Download history eraser, and just remember to use it.
there are now two options: "all calls " and "all logs". Selecting "all calls" will in fact only show calls, no SMS/MMS.
Try this...
http://androidforums.com/3743499-post5.html
it was the only way I found to delete them on the SR...maybe it is the same on the Note
OK I found a method that works
Open contacts
Press logs
Menu
View by
Change to sent messages
Menu
Delete
You will have to do the same for received messages
looks like they changed it a little, you should be able to do all logs to clear all..or all messages to delete only messages

You are correct but your SMS logs are still recorded.
Bump. Hopefully someone can help with this request.
Would it help to use a different sms program like Go SMS, or Handcent? Those have options for purging messages and also not logging them to begin with.
When I go to share something, such as a picture, there's a short list that comes up (Facebook, Twitter, Messages, Mail, then See all). Is there a way we can change what these are?
For example, I already went into the app associations and changed the default mail app to Gmail. I would have thought it would change it here, but it didn't. I also use GO SMS, so I want that instead of Messages. It would also be nice to add a couple other apps I commonly share things via.
Anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

Far as i know there is no way to change any of these. Sorry.
I can't believe no one brought up this problem yet, but after searching xda and googling for days I still have not found the answer.
I just switched to android, after years of iPhones I took the plunge and got a galaxy s3.
I assume ex iPhone users nag the most so my apologies in advance but please bear with me.
The S3 is great sofar, even though I am still getting used to it, one thing I can't get over though is:
Why do notifications stay in the notification bar after I already addressed them?
It drives me insane!
Example: if I check my new emails on my laptop or work computer, my s3 still shows I have new mail, same for facebook etc.
There must be a way for this state of the art device to dismiss them automatically. ..right? !
Please tell me I am not crazy and that someone fixed this, I'd be very grateful
Thanks!

As an Android user I also find it annoying. Regarding sms notifications; you must physically open them from the notification bar to get rid of them. Others, like email should disappear if you press "Clear". Facebook is another three-way problem. If you open the app from the icon the notifications remain and the notifications on the browser based Facebook still indicate you have unread posts. If you open the app via the android notifications bar they are sometimes still shown in the app when you "back out"
Frustrating. I keep thinking I'm popular

Did somebody noticed that the notifications sound twice e.g. Outlook, Twitter
I've searched along the Apps configuration, I don't found anything related.
Can somebody help?
Best regards.

Maybe is Twitter or Outlook related

I haven't noticed this with Gmail. I'm not using Outlook or Twitter.

My friend has this on his att s9+ but I don't. Why is that?

Same here. Gmail is fine, but Outlook's notification sound stutters and it is very annoying. I went into google play and left a comment on it. This could be an app problem, an oreo problem, or a samsung problem (or all of the above).

Ah, that may be explainable. In Gmail's settings, there's an entry labeled "Inbox notifications." Make sure it's set to Notify once, and not Notify for every message. If you choose every message, and get two emails at once, it will try to notify you twice at virtually the same time. I don't know if Outlook or Twitter have the same option.
I have it set to notify once
Hi All,
Did anyone find a way to solve this issue?

I had this problem with my S7 Edge, although it began after I installed a modded ROM. Gmail is the only app that gave me problems though. I never found a solution. Hope someone figures it out.
Had the same issue, noticed some people noted that secret folder might be the issue if u had the app in there too. I just uninstalled secret folder and the problem dissapeared, at least in gmail If u don't use Secret folder just delete that app, save the space
Known issue with outlook app and Microsoft still is not able to fix it on Oreo

Have you tried going into notifications for the ap ? Gmail has options to turn off sound alerts. This should stop the double alert sound.
I'm using the Mood text app and have individual notification sounds for different people. It's been working fine for about a month. Yesterday, these dual alerts started where the sound associated with that person sounds but then so does my global notification sound. It's definitely two sounds for every one text and it's very annoying. I didn't change any settings in the app or globally. I'm pretty sure the only change I made to my phone in that general timeframe was installing Words with Friends. Texts are the only app I get notifications for, so I have no idea if other apps would have the same issue.
ETA: Today I learned my calendar notifications also double alert.
Look under accessibility and then notification reminder if it’s on turn it off that work for me
Hello,
Hope someone can help with a fix.
I googled this so many times but still didn't find a solution.
When I use the T9 to search for a contact in the dialer, the contact shows up but the number under the contact is duplicated .
However when I open the same contact in the contacts all there is only 1 number and no sign of any duplicates.
I have checked and I have no duplicate contacts at all in my contacts.
I have also used the filter to only show contacts from my Gmail account.
But still same issue persists.
Second, can anyone confirm whether I can get the notifications on my lockscreen to be kept hidden until I use face unlock and then their content becomes visible without exiting the lockscreen?
Lastly, does anyone have any idea if it's possible with any app or mod to have horizon lights keep on blinking rather than just blink once when notification is received?
Appreciate any input, thanks

1st. Same here with me.
I tested & founded that the duplicate number is WhatsApp contact & not going away even if we choose only to show contact from Gmail account.
2nd. I don't think it's possible right now
3rd. Users submitted feedbacks on OnePlus forums & they said they are working on it.
Thanks for the feedback.
Yeah I read somewhere it's got to do with WhatsApp.
They suggested to remove all spaces from phone numbers in contacts, I tried with one and it worked !
But I have way too many contacts to do it manually for each one.
Looking for an app or some fast way to do it in bulk.

Export it from Gmail and then you can work on the .xml file in a file editor. Find & Replace [space] with nada
Then import it back on.
