I was wondering if it is possible to install updates of the stock EMUI Rom with a custom recovery like TWRP? Or do I have no choice but to use stock recovery for updates ?

I think that you can use HuRUpdater to update using twrp. But first, download the update through firmware finder

The best way is to root, total wipe, then flash custom ROM and not flash over the stock ROM!
I have installed CM9.1 in my SK17i. I havent done anything with my phone after flashing this custom rom.
Now i want to go back to stock rom.
My questions are
1. Is it possible to flash a stock rom via clockwork ? If yes then i will need a flashable stock rom. Yes? From where can i get it?
2. If the above is not possible, which is the next option available?
There should be a prerooted rom.zip in the development forums to flash it in cwm
But if I were you I'd just download the stock rom .ftf and flash it using flashtool in flashmode

I did not mean flashtool by Sony, I meant flashtool listed in development section. Try that one

No, you can't. Just download the latest firmware and flash via ODIN.
Backup your ROM before that and just restore your backup after you have updated to the latest firmware.
update your ROM
To update your rom you need to go to sammobile.com and sign up after the sign up you go to the firmware section.now navigate to firmware database now fill the columns after filling you radicate to the download section select the latest firmware....after the download flash the firmware via Odin....
Hi all,
I can install cm 10.2 and all is well, but when I try to install cm 11 it fails every time.
I'm trying to install from recovery or the cm update OTA update feature.
The error reads set__metadata_recursive; some changes failed.
e: error in sdcard/0/cmupdater/cm-11-20140308-snapshot-m4-dlx.zip
Thanks!
Which recovery are you using? For 4.4 you need the latest cwm, Twrp, or phillz recovery to work. Any older versions will not flash 4.4 roms as the recovery cannot do selinux
