Help regarding treble to non treble and vice versa... - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hey friends, currently I am on RR-Oreo-8.1 (TREBLE) on my mido. I have a TREBLE supported redwolf recovery. I wanted to known the proper steps to :
1: Revert back to a non treble ROM (non MIUI).
2: Revert back to a Official miui ROM(of course non treble).
Please help...

Yeah i want to know also

just wipe, system, data, cache, dalvik and vendor, and install your non treble rom as you would normally do.
same with miui. but then miui would be region locked to china. Since treble roms use the vendor partition which has region specific apps. You won't have any problem using it, but chinese bloat apps like we chat etc would be there

Thanx for your great answer...but you have not mentioned anything about the recovery that should/must be used to flash non treble (basically I want to know is there a special care regarding recovery that has to be taken while flashing miui ROMs)...
Thanx in advance

Yes i had the same problem. It will persist untill xiaomi releases their code for redmi note 3, and it wont be anytime soon.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...t/volte-patches-nougat-based-cm-roms-t3509257
Follow his guide. i was able to get volte with it. It is superb.
1. Flash miui 6.11.3 and wait till it boots. Use volte on both sims.
2. Backup efs.
3. Flash cm14 by abhishek
4. Flash cm14 firmware by abhishek.
5. Flash volte V2 files by sudeep
6. reboot and call someone using volte.
7. If it works then good, if not then restore efs and call again.
Note: There wont be any signs of volte. You will only confirm by calling someone.
After you get volte on abhisheks rom, reboot to twrp and flash your desired rom.
Then flash volt V2 zip
then flash other files you want to flash
Note: Do not flash any firmware after this.

How to remove root completely from Poco F1 installed with Android 9 based custom roms

Dear All,
I have bought POCO F1 in the first sale and I am very happy with its performance. Once there were Android Pie based custom roms, I have enthusiastically tried some of them. I have to thank all developers here for their relentless efforts in bringing the most updated features to our beloved POCO F1. I just have a small problem, I rely a lot on banking apps and all of them complaint that my device is rooted on Android 9 roms. I know that I can hide root by using Magisk but I dont want to use it. I want to know how to remove the root completely rather than hide it. So, Kindly give me some information as to how Android 9 based rom can be completely unrooted.
Unistall Magisk
I have the same issue......my ROM came prerooted.....is there to remove root completely....
You'll have to try different ROMs until you find one that works for you (i'd Start from Pixel experience)
I never had this problem so i have a feeling that you might have missed a step.
(Did you wipe system, data, davlik before flashing?)
(Did you flash an encryption disabler? because you shouldn't)
Just flash a stock Fastboot package. That's the only true reliable way to "unroot" a device.
If your ROM came pre-rooted, it's either a crap ROM or is still being built in userdebug mode for dev purposes. If it's the latter, unrooting is a bad idea and probably won't solve anything anyway. So either accept it, or use a different ROM.

Should I use a custom rom?

First of all : I know that this is already explained a hundred times in different topics created around poco's forums. Still, it's not very clear yet to me.
I used to like the MIUI skin and it's features, but lately, because of the bad development in global stable rom and a lot of delay in the updates, I'm planning on going to custom roms.
Last time I used a custom rom was at time of cyanogenmod 13, in my old Moto g (falcon). In that time, I didn't used bank apps, I used to like root apps, root wasn't a problem to banks/Netflix/other apps, my camera didn't had some features like the blur, infrared camera and such things. And that's exact my point. I'm afraid of those things in custom rom: safetypass on bank apps, problems in buggy camera, I'm not used to this "dfe", it's not very clear how to flash, when flash, etc. I'm afraid to lost my IR, I don't want to flash magisk also, but sounds like a very must thing in custom roms lately. I'm atraid to get play store uncertified also.
I like too many features, but I don't plan to use a rom with a lot, because I want a bug free and with good battery and performance too, so I'm going to a stable rom.
Should I use a custom rom or stay on MIUI global stable?
Yes Flash A Custom Rom!
It honestly all depends on you, however, if you are concerned with stability I wouldn't be. Poco's root community is really large and most of the custom ROMs that have been around for a while are really smooth. I personally despised using MIUI, it wouldn't have even been that bad had Xiaomi fixed their gigantic screw up with the notification system. Not to mention unnecessary bloat is on the entire OS and its not really much of a stock Android experience. When I buy new phones I only buy ones that can be rooted and romed because thats essential to me. I currently use the Pixel Experience Rom and I have found it to be the best. While the performance of the rom is on par with the other roms available for this device, its animations are much more fluid. Plus the google camera that comes preinstalled in it works flawlessly, and you can always flash the xiaomi camera zip if you want those features. However, if you want more customizability I would opt for another rom like Reserrection Remix.
When it comes to DFE from my experience you don't have to flash it, you would just have to enter in you passcode each time on boot. Not flashing DFE however can cause problems when you want to flash new updates as the device may still be encrytped. Plus the DFE zip includes magisk so you will pass safetynet. Im able to use most banking apps and netflix just fine on my phone. Plus if you are on MIUI right now and have updated to the latest you probably also have L1, which will transfer over to any custom rom you flash. Heres a typical flash process:
1. Backup Data
2. Wipe everthing on the phone except internal storage and format data if needed
3. Flash the rom zip
4. Flash GApps if needed
5. Flash DFE (Which includes magisk)

Thanks for the information. Tomorrow I'll unlock my BL, and flash probably the PE, or AOSiP. That was very clarifying to me. Just one more question: play store is certified? Because in my last Xiaomi, except for Xiaomi.eu (I didn't had roms like LOS ir RR, just MIUI based), even the MIUI based roms had problems with play store.

[Mooded]TWRP Flash able vendor(v12.0.1.0) for Redmi 9(Lancelot)

Feature:
1.Their are not any framware file in it...
2.Your framware will untouched.
3.Can be flash via any custom recovery (twrp cn is recommended)
4.Fix video recording freezing issue...
5.Disable force encryption...
If you want to use custom rom and you are not in miui version 12.0.1.0 which is needed for boot custom rom then twrp flash able vendor zip file is very handy it is very small(250mb) download and flash it from below link and enjoy custom rom what ever frameare you have currently installed
minimod_V12.0.1_vendor.zip

Hello,
I must thank you for all the posts you make, they do help alot, you helped with my issues with freezing video recording, I began to loose hope to fix it, THANKS .
Can I ask you, if there are any requirements for vendor to be flashed with a success? I'm asking because I tried to flash vendor few weeks ago, and I soft bricked my device, what I did was I installed vendor 12.0.1.0, on Redmi 9 (EU one). Flashing was done while having custom rom on the device. From what I understand, vendor should flash onto any rom (Could you please correct me if I'm wrong? Thank you. )
my FAILED flashing process was: Stock Global 12.0.2.0 -> TWRP -> Custom Rom -*> Vendor 12.0.1.0 which bricked my device (had full backup from stock, so nothing scarry happened ). Was it because I tried to downgrade, and anti-rollback mechanism caused a bootloop (had to use SP flash tool to unbrick)?
Maybe that it'll help someone not to make a mistake I did .
I thought I'd share how camera got fixed for me, because I saw people ask about it, but no solution.
!!
I was fiddling with vendor images, because of camera recording was not working for me on any custom rom, and I think the issue, is, that my Redmi 9 is galahad, EU that came with EU 12.0.1.0, not Lancelot Global 12.0.1.0. I had to flash 12.0.1.0 GLOBAL (I clean flashed stock GLOBAL rom before the custom rom) to fix camera issues, NOT the 12.0.1.0 EEAGLOBAL (EU)
!!
flashing GLOBAL 12.0.1.0 onto EU Redmi 9 solved my video recording issues:
probably an overkill, but thats what Ive done
(wipe dalvik, data, internal, cache) -> Flash Redmi 9 Global V12.0.1.0.QJCMIXM (I did it through TWRP) -> (format data, wipe all again) -> Install Pixel experience official, but this time with video recording functional.
VIDEO RECORDING DID NOT WORK FOR ME WHEN EEAGLOBAL V12.0.1.0 (EU) was used. And I suspect, that this is the core issue, of why some people are having issues with camera and some don't.
So:
flash Global 12.0.1.0 and you'll be happy. (I only mention ROM, because that worked for me, I've no experience with vendor images). Sorry for the long post, hope it helps someone.

Tnx a lot bro....your device break because the vendor you download it has some framware file in it...but i made the vendor zip file with out any framware file and so it work on any version rom you have....tnx
And from where you find v12.0.1.0 vendor which is cause for soft break your device...link plz
Sorry, my intention wasn't to discredit you by any means, I took vendor from https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/vendor/lancelot/ when I played with it, Im quite sure, that my lack of knowledge was the cause of brick, maybe I wasn't clear enough on that. just wanted to get some more info on subject, so that I, and possibly others could avoid that step in the future. If we won't share such stories, there won't be much progress. My understanding, that the more stories there is, successes and fails, the more we know of what to do and how to do it.
As for the part about cam recording, there is so little info on it, I wanted to share that 12.0.1.0 EU is not the same as 12.0.1.0 GLOBAL, (which I discovered by trial and error, yesterday just before I wrote that post, got a little carried out by it, managed to fix something that was not functional for a long time) and seen others asking about freezing cam recording also. I think they might have been trying wrong 12.0.1.0
Again sory, my intention was only to share my part of the story, and ask you nicely about your opinion on possible cause, because if it happened once, it can happen again, if I won't know why it happened. It didn't even crossed my mind, that you could take it as an offence. I hope therell be no hard feelings.

Yes, recording started to work correctly, after i installed 12.0.1.0 global ROM on eu redmi 9, before custom ROM.
Thanks, bro. I have on miui 12.0.3.0 global did not work (freeze) video recording on custom kernels, thanks to your vendor everything worked.
when installing whether the vendor mount menu should be checked?

[Curtana] Does flashing a custom ROM compel disabling force encryption?

First of all, I'm really sorry if this thread would turn out to be a dumb enquiry. I am new to intrinsically customising my phone and only have been using this device (Redmi Note 9S EEA Curtana, MIUI Global V11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM 4/64 GB) for 10 days. I've successfully installed root and TWRP on my phone after having thoroughly researched relevant information. The only thing is all my efforts regarding the removal of force encryption have so far failed. I'm inclined to install a custom ROM, e. g. LineageOs or Evolution X.
1. Is it a necessity to have encryption permanently disabled so that the flashing process proves viable? Currently, I'm only aware of a method which has its effect limited to the the period the phone is in recovery. It involves formatting data and then installing Magisk and thus I need to go through the set-up again. At the end of the operation, encryption is enabled again. I have no clue why. I've tested loads of no verity opt files, none of them worked in a proper way either.
2.Will installing a custom ROM eliminate root acces (since it performs a reinstallation targeting the entire system, let alone the patched boot image)?
3. In case something goes wrong, what's the correct procedure to return to the factory ROM? Is re-locking the bootloader a prerequisite? (See this guide https://c.mi.com/uk/miuidownload/detail?guide=2, for example. Notice how each of the stable MIUI releases there are marked with ★ next to them, meaning they're locked. I didn't quite grasp the message they were trying to convey with that explanation though.)
I'm conscious that's a lot to ask in a single thread, however, unlike myself, the majority of users here are supposedly tech enthusiast and probably have encountered similar difficulties on several occasions.
I hope that I've provided enough information and the thread has been named reasonably.
(Priority: detailed answers within a month would be great.)
Cheers,
Hsjaai
Just format data: twrp->wipe->format data write yes->reboot twrp and flash rom.
If you got error(red lignes reboot twrp and format again).
or
delete all your lockscreen security before flashing but to install a new rom you must format the data before.
Thanks for your quick response, honestly I didn't expect anyone to be this early to react.
As I've already mentioned, in TWRP there's a workaround for temporarily disabling encryption using the first method, the latter one doesn't seem to function as intended - that may be the case on newer devices, according to an article I've come across.
One last request. Could you please (briefly) answer my two other questions as well? How do I reinstall MIUI if something breaks down? Is the flashing apparatus provided by Xiaomi reliable?
I'll keep you updated on my progress,
Hsjaai

Thank you so much once again for the help. What should I do if the worst-case scenario arised -essential parts of the file system got corrupted so that the phone wouldn't be capable of booting into system? Uninstall magisk via zip and then make use of the fastboot tool?

With Magisk app
I'm still unsure about something. Will the custom ROM be installed without hassle if I unroot Magisk at the beginning (meanwhile leaving the custom recovery intact, of course)? No guide seems to deem having root installed as a prerequisite. If you answer that, I'm really embarking on the flashing process.

Installing a custom rom (aosp or Miui) requires a data format (erases all data and creates a new partitions if necessary) which will remove root anyway, but sometimes root + twrp creates problems (can't mout the partitions) it is therefore to avoid this that I recommend you to unroot before.
In all cases (Aosp or custom Miui) magisk is installed last.
Which ROM do you want to install?
I'd like to install LineageOS first and see how compatible it is.

What device is Miatoll ?
Hello guys ! For some days or weeks, I see a new codename : Miatoll. I looked and search but I don't find what device is it. Can you helo me ? I wonder if I can flash my phone with a Miatoll Rom

Miatoll ROMs are supposed to be compatible with Curtana if I haven't got something wrong... What's the deal with that?
I may consider flashing CherishOS instead, seems neat and the monthly updates appeal to me.

Don't flash magisk right away, check if the playstore is certified.
If not delele your google account and root with the Magisk app.
Of course, if you absolutely want to root your device for other reasons, ignore that.
***certified on redmi note 7
The installation of these should only differ (on a particular device) in the ROM that's being flashed az a zip, right?
For instance, see this guide. Could that be deemed to be applicable to any custom ROM?

Install the right TWRP
Be sure you have the right firmware.
If not flash it.
1)Twrp wipe format data write yes reboot twrp(if error reboot twrp and format again).
2)flash rom
3)reboot system
v11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM is a turkish rom(android 10)
V12.0.2.0.RJWMIXM is a global rom(android 11)Firmware base for AOSP
It is better to use Miflash and install TWrp after.(dont relock the bootloader).
Are you sure v11.0.4.0. QJWEUXM is the Turkish version? I thought it was EEA (the one tweaked for European countries). Installing the Global version seems alright, but why does the MIUI version has such a great effect on the outcome of the flashing?
Is that because both Cherish OS and the Global version are AOSP-based?
