Hello all;
I have been searching and searching, but so far have not found an answer to this. I have a Verizon LTE Galaxy Tab 10.1. The issue I have is that I have a 3 year old daughter that loves to play with it. The problem is so far I have found no way to completely lock the notification bar. I have found apps that lock the back and home buttons, but not the rest of the buttons, the notifications, and more importantly the settings menu.
Here are the exact details of my hardware.
Model: SCH-I905
Build: HTJ85B.EL01.SCH-I905.EL01
Kernel: 2.6.36.4-cyanogenmod+ [email protected] #1
Does anyone know of any solution for my situation?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I assume you mean you want to let her play without the worry of her pressing and opening other apps?
(LOL, 3 year old opening and reading your mails *sarcasm*)
But yes this can be possible. I however am confused, what would you like to disable? The hardware keys or the touch keys? Don't think disabling the hardware key's is a good idea, incase the tablet hangs up. But I guess it's all based on your reply.

All I am looking to disable is the soft keys across the bottom. Currently I am running the latest released Verizon build so it has the TouchWiz skin/interface installed. I am looking to disable all the soft keys across the bottom of the UI. Most important is the pop up menu you get when pressing the clock area in the bottom right of the screen.
Thanks again.
Try the app called Hide Bar - it will completely hide the bottom system bar (not just dim like when looking at photos) and only re-appears when you use a certain gesture...
hope that works for your needs!

I searched the market for "Hide Bar" and cound not find anything that matched that name, but I did find an app called "No System Bar" and it did the trick wonderfully.
Thank you very much for the help on this one. It was driveing me nuts.

So, i've had the BLA - L29 C436 (mate 10 pro EU) for a couple of days and these are my good views and bad views on it :
Cons :
- had issues with a message form android system that i can't away . a) even if i go into the notification -> system apps -> Android system and take all the notifications to off. b) when you normally tap "done" it should go away, which it doesn't . This for apps that normally "display over other apps" like blue light filters.
- had issues with wifi. Some times it works well (full download speed) sometimes it doesn't. Especially on spotify wen normally my home speed is at 7megs/second, there it performers at 200kb/sec.
- had issues also with "full screen apps". On my Note8, i normally don't have issues, but here... it bugs.
- seems like the Kirin 970 (AI?) doesn't want to work well with certain apps, as they seems really slow. Maybe it needs more time to know my habits, but sometimes i really have the impression of big lags
- Overall the UI seems and bit buggy... I hope they come out with an update soon
- No push on native email app with a google account (????!!!).
- Some issues with TeslaUnread (Nova launcher plugin) numeris badges that flick on the main home screen, and more precisely with the email app.
- They advertised the "dynamic lockscreen wallpaper" that isn't yet available, Apparently it's coming with an update / or has already been released for C636.
- They still didn't understand to separate notifications and ringtone volume. The two are still working in pair
Pros
- Very good cellular reception. Apparently it has a very high SAR so that might be the reason.
- Camera isn't bad at all - but maybe not worth the Note 8 with Camera mod. Still testing it.
- Battery life (but the phone is still young)
Any ideas how to get that annoying "system" notifications away?
update 21/11 : Called Huawei today, they said these issues are not normal, so brought it back to the shop got a new one... i'll be testing in the future days to see if i get the same issues.

If you are talking about the "xxxxx app is running in background" that is something introduced in Oreo and has nothing to do with EMUI

No my issue is more about the overlay.
Anyhow,
had too many issues with it at the moment. Even the BT in my car today got cut when i got a message while listening to some music... and then never reconnected right away.
I'm putting it in quarantine until a firmware will come out and fix these wifi, overlay, bt, fullscreen issues i have.
sweet dreams M10pro (firmware 115 on C436)
Sadly android Oreo is still new. A lot of other handsets are still in beta. Huawei was brave to release it with Oreo straight away but they couldn't really release it with Nougat or there would be complaints. Have faith and patience in the firmware updates but don't lose faith in the hardware. It's a seriously impressive bit of kit.
Hi, I have ALP-L29 8.0.0.115(C636) in Czech republic (from Wonda mobile)
Issues:
1) "Home button" always switch back to default launcher!! Please help! How to allow different launcher?
- It makes the phone unusable for me. :crying:
2) No updates found (- why? What about 119?)
3) It is not possible to configure virtual buttons / commands. <- EMUI feature?
- I miss: "Open menu" function and "Switch to the last app"
4) I do not want to use Lock screen! (magazine pictures is the default, impossible to disable it) <- EMUI feature?
Do you have any advice?

Go to apps. Default apps. And select your launcher.
I'm pretty sure there's an option somewhere to disable magazine picture. I came across it yesterday

1. Settings - Apps - Settings - default apps setting - Launcher
2. Maybe it haven't been pushed yet. Patience is a virtuo.
3. It is possible to configure buttons
Settings - Smart assistants - System navigation - Settings
Open menu disappeared from android many versions ago, I belive in Ginger Bread. It was replaced with 3 dots in GUI.
Switch to last app is performed by double tapping recent apps (square button)
4. What do you mean you don't want to use Lock Screen?
If you have pin, pattern or finger print unlock you must have a lock screen. If you disable all security then when you open the phone it will go straight to your home screen.
Settings - Screen lock & password - Password

Hi, thanks for your help
1) Yes, I was blind, sorry! - OK :good:
2) So 636 for europe is OK?
3) (I have "Open menu" in 7.1.2.) In some apps are not other way to open menu directly. :/
"Switch to last app is performed by double tapping recent apps (square button)"
- Yes, thanks! But this is not supported (?) by using fingerprint scanner (only default: tap=back, hold=home, swipe=recently)
4) I mean simply not use lock screen, passwords, pattern , etc. So that the last application or screen is always displayed when the display is turned on.

I have a bug, with gmail, i changed the option so i can delete emails directly from the notifications. But it doesn't work well, sometime i can touch "delete" and it works, but most of the time nothing happens. The "respond" works well. Only happens with gmail.
Was on BL09 with the issue, changed to BL29 to debloat phone and issue still here.

I've got the standard Mate 10 and I haven't got any of the issues you described
FYI , my previous M10 Pro L29 - C432 had issues i would said dead on arrival style..

I couldn't test the 120, as it was on the old ALP-L29 which was defective. But 125 seems stable and working well. I will only be able to tell you about battery in 3-4 days once i got some cycles in.

Hi folks, just got a G5 H830 (coming from an HTC 10 due to battery problems). I'm rooted but still running most recent stock LG/T-Mo software (20N).
The problem: I can't find a way to change the vibration notification pattern per app / per notification type. I assumed this was a standard thing across the Android world, but I'm only seeing the option to choose ONE vibration pattern, and customize intensity. The Gmail app vibrates the same way as my SMS app does, which drives me nuts!
How can I fix this? Do I need to install a custom kernel, and/or custom ROM?

No search the play store, there's probably an app for that
Cool, when I searched on mobile all I found was "vibrator" apps and stuff for wearables, but searched on desktop and found: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wbouvy.vibrationcontrol Seems like it'll do the job, it needs pretty questionable permissions to work though. Can't believe this is necessary, apparently even the Galaxy S8 omits this feature (?!)
If anyone running a custom ROM on their G5 sees this thread, I'd love to hear if the ROM you are using has this as a standard feature.
Hi guys and girls,
Not into all this programming stuff etc. I got the official update last night on my Xiaomi 11LITE 5G.

So I have to start using the buttons (which is annoying to me)

I can help you if you have root. It stopped working on mine too so I use FNG. To get rid of the annoying 3 button navigation use these commands:
1. Download Termux
2. Su
3. "props qemu.hw.mainkeys 1"
4. Reboot
And you've got navigation gestures. Add it to the navigation so you can turn navigations on and off easily

Gestures being blocked on third party launchers is an Android 11 limitation.
Nova Launcher have issued a beta version released for Android 11 only, they figured out how to get Gestures working again.
Hi
After update MIUI to 12.5, I normally use an application (screen off and lock) to lock the screen, since double tap doesn't work.
Turns out that after the update when I lock the screen through the app, I can't unlock with fingerprint saying that "device locked by admin" and I have to use the pin to unlock.
Anyone knows how to overcome this?
Thanks in advance.

Same here on mi 10T
I have learned not to update MiUI, as the updates rarely fix old bugs and ALWAYS introduce new bugs. Best just sticking with what it came with until a custom ROM comes along and then leave the MiUI crap in the past.
Problem is 3rd app lock method.
Here is solution:

I use NOVA LAUNCHER and I have same problem after 12.5 update. So I changed LOCK method in NOVA and it works.

So easy but still so difficult to figure out...
This was really good to learn about i have to say, thank you very much for your help!
I solved this issue after updating my Mi Note 10 to MIUI 12.5.1 by switching from 3rd party screen lock / turn off app to an official built-in widget simply called "Lock" (go look for it, it should be near the top in Widgets section when you press and hold empty home screen area).
To remove unofficial screen lock app you must first revoke admin rights, of course, otherwise its ghost will keep reappearing after each uninstall attempt.
I simply like stock MIUI Launcher, so using 3rd party ones to solve this was unacceptable for me.
if u guys are just talking about turn off screen without using side button, then there are some options present in miui...
1) [if u r using button navigation] setting> additional setting> button shortcut> turn off screen> choose as ur choice
2) You can also use the quick ball, 'setting> additional setting> quick ball' with quick ball u can use 5 shortcuts like home, menu, lock, clear cache, ss etc
3) the widget option... Just like d789 said
And 'double tap to wake or turn off screen' option is present in the "setting> always on display & lock screen"...
Thanks, I overlooked that buttons shortcuts in Settings can be configured to lock the screen as well (e.g. long hold Back or Home on-screen button).
Yeah, double-tap to wake or turn off screen is also very useful feature I use since day 1.

For me this doesn't work.
I use Nova and always have.
In Nova I go to "Gesture and Inputs" change the "double tap" to "screen lock".
I then choose "Accessibility" and add Nova.
After that if I double click nothing happens. If I remove Nova from accessibility and then double tap it asks me to use device admin or accessibility. I use this way on every single mobile I use but on 12.5.3 I can't pick accessibility as it refuses to do anything when Nova is added.

To everyone who's still facing this issue. This fix helped me and a lot of others as well. Try it out.
It's a rare but annoying glitch in MIUI, you can easily solve it:
1. Go to TWRP -> File Manager
2. Browse to: /data/system
3. Delete file "locksettings.db"
4. Reboot.
You will need to set the lock screen password/pattern again, if you had any before.

To everyone who's still facing this issue. This fix helped me and a lot of others as well. Try it out.
It's a rare but annoying glitch in MIUI, you can easily solve it:
1. Go to TWRP -> File Manager
2. Browse to: /data/system
3. Delete file "locksettings.db"
4. Reboot.
You will need to set the lock screen password/pattern again, if you had any before.

Dear friend, my phone is Redmi Note 7 Pro. I had no issues after doing this. It worked perfectly for me. So, as I saw this forum thread before fixing my phone, I just shared the information I knew. Not everyone will get the same result from this, because not everyone has the same phone. So, whether or not you didn't get the expected outcome, you shouldn't tell others to not follow this. It's their choice, not yours. Maybe atleast some of them will find it useful than you did.

Thank you very much.
This works for my RN10Pro using MIUI13.0.6, change the lockscreen setting in Nova, from admin to accessibility.
I can't double tap to close home screen anymore, but there's still home button in the lowest middle to do that.
The most important thing is, I can directly go to home screen just by touch the fingerprint button.
Thanks for your advice.
If you guys are talking about the fingerprint button then i suggest you just use the gestures that are provided by default of the settings since there nust be a spatial consisting of failure of recognizing the algorithm of identifying user by fingerprint method or they just didn't implement the algorithm that is stored inside the operating system of the phone.
So gestures is the only way to go you can apply gestures by using monetary apps that may give access to other gestures like slide down to view user statistics or usage and slide up to reveal system settings but i couldn't blame the operating system though for having not enough gestures but I'm also. Thankful that they have custom gestures so i wouldn't imply to an app that can be placebo or popular in playstore who knows it can be money cashgrab(just stating the fact that i had to cancel so many subscription on a gesture app)
